Petco Grooming

Had an appoint to get my Long Hair Dachshund bathed and groomed 1/27/2022 at 2:00pm. Arrived at store was relaying information, shots etc at the counter.
I had Sancho on his leash in front of the desk when Mallory came out from behind the counter and started giving Sancho a physical.
Our dog is our Baby and does not like to be separated from us especially my wife.
Mallory put a slip collar around his neck and wanted Sancho to follow her but he resisted because we were standing there.
He finally went behind the counter and we walked out the door. The girl caught us before we got completely out of the store & said to come back. My wife came back with Sancho stating they had refused to groom him because he was 11 years old.
We were taking him to Pet Smart but we live in Kernersville NC and Pet Smart is in Winston Salem. We came home & called Pet Smart and have an appoint 1/28/2022.
The groomer, Mallory, acted like we were beneath her and were were not worthy for her to groom our pet and was good enough for her time. I have never in my life seen a company that can afford to turn away business and at the same time make a customer feel unworthy of their attention.
Sancho is a sweet dog that loves attention. The only thing he don't like is an UPS truck.

Petco Disrespectful

I was in this location and a woman named Krys was checking me out, she had her mask on but below her nose down to her mouth. I asked her to please pull her mask up while checking me out and she stated she was the store manager and did not need to, she makes the rules. If I felt uncomfortable I could take it up with customer service but she is the store manager. I felt disrespected that for an entire minute you are checking me out you can't have the decency to just pull your mask above your nose? I am immune compromised and susceptible to Covid.

Petco Store manager

The store manager belittles employees in front of customers. I was checking out and the manager named Krys on her name tag came out of the office yelling at the cashier saying "you have a phone in your hand, use it for what's it for" this poor girl had a line of people and the phones were ringing off the hook with no help at all. She asked for help and the manager said she was busy and went back into the office and slammed the door. The employees do not look happy like they use to, I wonder if everything is ok? It seems like a hostile work environment. I will no longer be shopping there until she is gone

Petco Animal care

I've been to the Greensburg location multiple times over the past few months to grab supplies for all of my animals and I've noticed a significant decline in animal care in the past few weeks. I understand the holidays were happening, but I don't believe that should be a reason to let your animals suffer.
Checking out the small animals I've noticed a lot of them did not have any food. I know hamsters can be prone to hoarding their food elsewhere, but I don't think I've ever seen a guinea pig do such thing. Their waters were nearly empty and they had a very large guinea pig in with a very small, maybe couple months old guinea pig.
Moving on to look at the birds I noticed the same thing; the food and water dishes were close to empty. There were also so many birds in one singular enclosure they could not all fit on their perches. Shouldn't there be a limit to how many animals go into one enclosure?
Looking at the reptiles made me sick to my stomach. Reptiles hold a near and dear space in my heart and it really hurt to see how they were being treated. When I went to check out all the reptiles there was another customer standing there, pointing out a chameleon that had been laying there on it's side. According to the employee, two other chameleons have died from the same exact enclosure. Are they not cleaning out their enclosures? Are they not wiping out the disinfectant if they are? I have so many questions. Another thing I noticed was the food was not cut up at all for the animals to eat. The bearded dragons were small but were given entire blueberries that were bigger than their heads. The greens were also not cut up at all, making it easy for the poor things to choke. Tarantulas were left with tens of crickets to roam their enclosure, something very dangerous for the spider especially if they are getting ready to molt. When walking past the crickets you could do nothing but smell the rotting ones sitting at the bottom of the garbage can that they have them in. That's not a very pleasant smell to come across when you're shopping around.
When my concern was brought up to an employee their concern was non existent. They said they would let their manager know, but had they done so I would have seen things improve. I'm not sure what happened in the last month, whether it be holidays or staffing, but the animals should be top priority. I see where Petco's real concern is.

Petco Grooming

I called ahead to see if the groomers were busy as to come at a time that was more convenient to the groomers. I just needed my dogs claws trimmed. They said, "Well, we can make an appointment for 3:00 pm." I said, OK. Unfortunately, I got doing my errands a little early and decided to go ahead and take my dog over. I got there at 2:25pm. I went to the check in and the girl at the counter said, "I just got a walk-in so if you give me a few minutes, we will get her in." Not even 5 mins later, the walk-in left and then we stood there for 20 mins and waited. They were not busy. The manager then came and asked if we needed help and explained that we were waiting and hoped we could get in a little early. He said, "I will check but I can't make any promises." A minute later, he left the grooming area and never came back to tell us one way or another. Finally, at 3:00 pm, I stood straight in front of the register and a the girl came out and wanted to check us in. Strangely, she acted like we had just arrived. Aggravated, I asked what was the policy on walk-ins and why did I have to make an appointment in the first place. At that point, my husband lost it. He opened the door for the grooming place and placed the dog in their area. Then, after waiting 40 mins. The girl said, "I don't feel comfortable grooming your dog. I am not going to do it now." We asked to talk to the grooming manager. She was not a big help. Meanwhile, my husband is fussing and I spent all this time NOT getting my dog's nailed done. I can't account for my husband and am sorry he lost his cool; but, this is unacceptable. It seemed to me that they just didn't want to do their jobs. Then, they used language that I have never heard to get out of doing anything to appease the customer. I worked in customer service for over 15 years and I would have lost my job if I just made excuses not to do it. Now, I guess I have to find a new groomer and switch my dogs food as I will not come back to this store in Seneca, SC. Date: 12/21/21 between 2:25- 3:05. What do I want? I want these kids to learn to do their jobs and an apology for making me wait on the hard concrete floor for 40 mins. They could have said, "Well, it will still be 3:00 instead of making us stand there. I could have gone out to the car and waited. It is very evident everything that happened was to the convenience of those working there not the customer. Store manager was not much help either.

Desired outcome: An apology and less excuses.

Petco Dog groomer

I visited your west mifflin store in PA and I have to say that what I saw the groomer do disturbed me and made me very upset. She was grooming a tiny [censored]zu looking dog and I saw her tug on the chain it was attached to. I continued to watch and the poor thing was shaking and not cooperation up to her standards I guess, so she grabbed the poor thing by the face like you would a child when getting them to look at you. She said something to the dog but I could not hear because they were behind the glass, but the way I saw it seemed to me she was being a little rough with the poor thing. Being that I can't for sure say what she said I feel it is my duty as an animal lover that I bring it to your attention so that another person does not witness this also. The next person may not contact you and contact the aspca instead.

Petco cat litter and cat treats

I was treated very rudely and lied to by a representative named Cassidy at the Petco on Mason Road in Katy TX. My cat's claw was infected so I was sent to Petco by the vet to get a special litter to use for two days. I asked for the litter made from a newspaper called Yesterday's News. She said they didn't carry anything like that there. She told me the paper litter was in the guinea pig section and that is what I should use. I called the vet and he explained that I could not use the guinea pig paper litter, which would be bad for my cat. After repeatedly telling me they did not have Yesterday's News and telling me to get guinea pig litter that would be bad for my poor cat with an infected paw she then brought a bag of Yesterday's News litter to me. They did carry it she just didn't want to bother with telling me where it was. And it happened again. I asked for the tuna flake cat treats. She said they don't carry anything like that. I pulled Petco's website up on my phone and showed her the images of the tuna flakes that Petco carries. In other words, it's like when a person's IQ is so low, they can't comprehend communication in words and you have to draw a picture for them. That's what I did, I showed her the website of the company she works for and the different tuna flakes that they carry. And she took me to an aisle of canned cat food - and nothing there was or looked like in anyone's wildest imaginings like a jar of dried tuna flake cat treats. She continued to speak with a whiney voice letting me know that I was annoying her with questions about these products I wanted to buy from Petco that she did not want me to buy as she would have to ring them and she apparently is very much against work, she is there to get paid for giving customers wrong information and trying to get them to leave the store without buying the products they want. Her boss the GM, was not there to help me. I called Petco Customer service. And I hit the number it gave me to have someone call me back as their wait time was 20 minutes. No one at Petco ever called me back.

If we are all so stupid ...go somewhere else...please! Corporate may tell you different but most Petco employees are fed up with the company and the customers too. Invent a robot to take our jobs and we would be relieved. BTW I am a grandfather working a "second" career not a teen and I have been shocked by unrealistic expectations and how badly customers behave these days.

Petco Grooming service

I have been using PETCO @ UTC, Sarasota FL for many years! The Grooming Service is disappointing caused by unethical attitude and actions of the receiving area. Just as an example, on December 2, 2021 @ 1:55 p.m. I was present for the grooming of my puppy dog as scheduled on the website 3 weeks in advance for 2:00 p.m. The person in charge, a woman without any identification, rejected my appointment for the reason that the website is ' correct' and that only phone calls are the correct ones, rejection with very unethical attitude
This is not the first time the same person has had such an unpleasant behavior. Any time I have to use this service she shows up with very unpleasant attitude and rejection of service. I hope that the store manager (cannot be found) will step up to solve this matter.

Petco Wrong Item Delivered

Hello,

I emailed and spoke to a rep about the package I received today. The item inside the package is a completely different item I ordered. I emailed her the picture, and she said there is nothing you can do for me! Is this how you treat your consumers?

This is a conversation that I obtained with Joan F online chat with your employees and despite my current recipet of last month and refused to let me provide a current recipet of an effective item you guys keep selling of alot of money not to mention I payed out of pocket 45 dollars when the itmem was already purchased..I will be filing charges to your rude employee and the theft and violation of your own policies..

If I dont recieve a response with in the next 48hrs I will give this to a legal representative including all my medical bills for my dogs and myself since I have spent hundreds of dollars for ineffective items and have tp replace them monthly!

Petco Grooming

Date of service: 11/19/2021 - 12:30 PM
Pet's name: Fluffy 4 month old Maltese puppy (first-time grooming - requiring first-time bathing & very minor cut/trim face, paws and rear -- no body fur cut)
Head of Grooming Salon: Heather
Appointment with Breanna (absent due to illness. Advised that Breanna had called in sick early morning the day of appointment). There was no call to my contact number that Breanna could not perform the service, nor the opportunity to reschedule.
Advised service wait time from 3 - 4 hours. Wife and I waited entire time. At 10 minutes prior to the 4 hour mark, there was no indication that our pet was being cared for. Both wife and I were readily visible to the groomers; and no courtesy provided of the service status. Requested pet be returned to us. Then advised by salon head that service would be 4 to 5 hours. I paid for bathing (puppy had defecated 3 times requiring 3 bathings) and left.

Desired outcome: Recommend salon head call and advise client of situation in order to reschedule or not. Such a courtesy would provide a better relation for all involved

Petco Unethical-criminal-behavior

VETCO: Store# 1676: 1912 North Rock Rd, Derby KS 67037.
DVM Sarah Boller
On October 20th, 2021, I took my 14-year-old Cocker Spaniel (Charlie) to Vetco. I needed to get Charlie's haircut at Petco. I am a loyal customer and have only used Petco his entire life! My husband has tried to take him other places, but I will not allow it. Charlie was due for his annual checkup and Bordetella shot but his appointment with his Primary Veterinarian was a week away. The advertisement at VETCO stated, "first exam free".
We walked in Vetco and spoke with the woman working at the front desk. During Charlie's intake, I told her that I would like the free exam and a Bordetella shot. I told her that Charlie had a rash on his chest that I would like to get looked at and that he has a chronic ear infection that he is currently on medication for. She replied "Ok, you should be seeing the Dr. soon".
I waited almost an hour and now it was time for his haircut at Petco. The same girl said, "don't worry, the groomers will bring him back over and the Dr will do the check up afterwards". So, I left for the groomers. After dropping Charlie off with the groomers, I left and remembered that I had not confirmed the package/price with the groomers, so I returned into Petco. As I approached the grooming section, I saw Dr. Boller leaving with 2 cotton balls walking towards Vetco. We made eye contact and she said;
Dr. Sara Boller-He has an ear infection and a yeast infection on his neck".
Me- "Yes the ear infection we know about it",
Dr. Sara Boller-Is he on medication?
Me- Yes.
Dr. Sara Boller-For how many days now?
Me- Today is his 2nd day, but he is a swimmer and it's a chronic issue he's had his whole life.
Dr. Sara Boller -Ok, I'm going to test these cultures.
Me- Ok.
I came back a few hours later at 4pm the time I was told by the lady at intake to be there. I waited for 30 minutes when an assistant came out and handed me an estimate for $266.91. I almost had a heart attack. I explained to her I came here for a free exam and a Bordetella shot. "Now, you're handing me a bill for almost three hundred dollars and still no Bordetella shot? No I decline everything." She replied, "just wait, the Dr. is coming to talk to you". So, I waited for another 15 minutes.
At this point I was getting really uncomfortable, so I asked for my dog Charlie because I had to leave and pick up my kids from school 25 minutes away as it was already 4:45pm. I waited another 15 minutes with the staff refusing to bring me my dog. I desperately left for Petco and found a manager to help me. I quickly explained the situation to him, and he spoke with Vetco staff. Five minutes later, DVM Sara Boller came out and demanded I pay the bill.
I explained to DVM Sara Boller that I came there because the exam said free, and I needed a Bordetella shot. My dog never received the shot and I never authorized anyone to treat my dog. Why would I get a test for an ear infection he has had for 13 years? Why would I buy ear medication I already have? I requested again to please bring me my dog, that I needed to leave. Now, she demanded I pay $60.00. At this point I was shocked, scared, nervous, and afraid. Sadly, at this point I said, "give me my dog or I'm calling the police".
DVM Sara Boller replied, "give the lady her dog, we will turn her into a collection agency for the bill. I asked for a Bordetella shot, and a checkup. Yes, I wanted to know what was going on with his neck, but I figured that would be a part of the exam. My normal vet does not charge for every questionable item. He uses his knowledge and experience to diagnose small common problems instead of gouging for tests.
DVM Sarah Boller tried to essentially steal from me. She treated my dog without my consent. She charged me for tests and medication that I did not need or want. I told the staff at intake he was already on medication. Yet, she ran a test for it. Like taking your car into get inspected and estimate and you return with repairs that have already been accomplished. When I refuse to pay the overcharges, she threatened me with collections.

Desired outcome: I just want the Vet to understand she needs to ask owners before she treats the animal. I went there for a free exam and Bordetella shot. She demanded I pay a $266.00 bill.

Petco Grooming Service

Had an appointment at Westfield, MA
Waited in line for 30 min
Was told they won't accept me cause I'm 30 min late to my appointment but they will do me a favor and will do just this time.
Then they had me sign a new form that I never had to sign being a constant customer confirming my dog has no anxiety, depression, heart, breathing issues. They explained this is for keeping my dog in crate/kennel. Which surprised me why in the world if I made an appointment they will keep my dog in the kennel. But I signed the form and asked to make sure they cut my dog nails, they barely did my previous visit. I was told I need to pay extra $10 if I want my dog nails short. I was surprised again but agreed. When I asked when I can pickup my dog, I was told 2-3 hours.

Why in the world I will make an appointment to leave my dog in petco kennel for 3 hours? Can somebody explain this to me?

On top of all this, stylist Kristen L. was extremely rude, and mad.

Petco I am complaining about the frozen medium rats I ordered

Date is October 19, 2021
I have received a 25 count of medium frozen rats I ordered in the mail today and beyond inspection, they had hundreds of mites on them. These would kill my snake if I fed them to him. I am extremely furious. This is absolutely unacceptable.
I need an immediate refund of these rats at $155. I will not accept any form of store credit. I need it refunded to my debit card that I used to purchase these rats.

Petco Grooming

I have used your grooming service for my dog leila for over 4 years.
Frequency 4 times per year.. Average cost per visit $110.00,
Mostly I have been very happy with your service.. Until this morning.

I had an appointment for 11 am today.. I arrived at 10.56 am
Jessica was on the phone and kept me waiting for over 5 minutes..
Leila is a 9 yr old german shepherd.. Not aggressive but her size makes her appear intimidating. Another owner arrives with their dog and leila reacted with loud barking and scared this customer. Jessica proceeded to take down info...Info that has not changed for the 16 visits prior... I objected and she decided to call the manager... Caroline the manager was very courteous
And defused the situation. All of this could have been avoided if jessica attended to my arrival promptly.

Desired outcome: Train your peoplea lot better

Petco Thundershirt purchase

I live in Milwaukee and I had purchased 2 thundershirts from Petco on 3870 N. 124th st. I tried the x small on my male yorkie while we were there at the store. It fitted just right. Almost a week later my daughter informs me that my male dog smells very bad and she can't describe the smell but that its horrible. I removed the shirt to give him a bath. I didn't notice the laceration across his neck/chest until I rubbed it with soap and water. I'm horrified. I made an appointment t so he can be seen by the vet the next day. My dog was given ointment for the area and antibiotics totaling $95 I contacted Petco where I purchased it. I spoke to the manager and was told to take my vet to the doctor and bring items in for reimbursement. After phone tags with the managers I was given my refund for the products. I had to wait a week later for my check for vet bill from cooperate. I asked manager for detail information from cooperate and I'm still waiting. I'm not happy with this and more needs to be done. I'm considering looking for a lawyer.

Desired outcome: More needs to be done about this product. Its not safe. IT didn't come with instructions.

Petco A product

I have bought a product made by foster and smith for 20 years for all my dogs. Life stage select premium multivitamin and mineral supplement for small dogs. This is currently the only vitamin my dog can take having ibd. Petco has been out of stock for this product for so many months. I checked online on other websites and it is out of stock everywhere. I need to know if this item will be discontinued. Every time I call petco customer service, I get no information. An item should not be out of stock for 6 or more months. When I asked the girl from customer service to give me contact info for corporate headquarters, she said I was speaking to corporate. I know that was a lie. Petco Service and knowledge sucks

My daughter purchased 2 tetra fish last night around 5pm for her children 4 years old and 2 years old.
With the so called advise from the petco staff on jog road in lake worth, florida.

They followed instructions of the staff, when my 4 year old grandson woke this morning, ran to see his fish and both the fish were dead, less then 24 hours.

He's so upset when they went back to the same store, this morning the staff was rude and nasty. This is not how you run a company and the staff has little to no knowledge of the fish.

My grandson keeps asking why his fish is gone? He's so heartbroken of this.

Petco rating keeps falling and I'm sure they get messages and never correct the problems.

Petco Poor petcare/animals in danger/poor service

Hi. Today I was at Petco and noticed how horribly the bearded dragons are taken care of.
They had zero food in their bowls, a small tank for 5 bearded dragons, and most importantly their tank was completely improper.
The terrarium was filthy, it had droppings everywhere and smelt terrible.
I noticed a key detail in which they have sand as a flooring. This is very hazardous for them, as they can eat it. One of the bearded dragons tried licking the sand because they had no food.
Some of the bearded dragons were repeatedly waving their arms, which means it doesn't have the correct environment. Their water bowl was very low, not to mention.
When I went to check-out, I mentioned the things I noticed to the cashier that has green highlights. She was completely ignorant, and was not open minded at all whatsoever (maybe because I was practically crying because of how frustrating it is to see dying animals).
She told me they feed them every morning. They need to be fed at least 3 times everyday (which I mentioned, and she of course told me they were fine), and she would barely listen.
All I wanted to do was yell at her for being to rude and tell her to find the bearded dragons a better home.
Something to add to the poor pet care, is the fact one of them was sprawled out in the sand, as if it were about to die. I've been raising bearded dragons and chameleons for 5 years, and I recognized it as a lizard in danger.
Every time I go to any Petco, whether it be in Lewiston ID or all the way in Florida, their lizards always have the worst environments. Although they aren't some special puppy, they should require just as much care and attention. I think this company needs to put their animals first if they're even gonna be selling them, like they say they do (which they don't).
And let's not forget the fact the beta fish seem to always die. This is a horrible sight to see, especially since kids are usually going into Petco too see all the cool and fun creatures.
Thank you for listening. Please get your animals in check, and find some nicer employees the next time you hire anyone. At least find people who care about the things they're selling, and listen to what you have to say.
