The Pep Boys car still not fixed

On 06/26/2017 car would not start, had to get a jump. The next day car would not start again, so I got it towed to (Pep boys, 701 route 440 jersey city, nj 07304) on 06/29/2017. They preformed a diagnostic test and said it needed a new battery. The next day the battery died, so then they said that the battery burned out the (anti-theft module). So they ordered a new anti-theft module and replaced it, but now the car still does not start... I get a call a week later stating that their still working on the car and trying to figure out why its not starting? 3 days after that, I got another call from pep boys stating that they are towing my car to another one of their facilities in hackensack, nj so they can figure out why the car is still not starting... They had my car from 06/29/2017 til 08/10/2017, and said I can come pick up my car. When I gets to pep boys on route 440 jersey city, nj 07304 to pick up my car (its still does not start)... So now I had to get it towed from there to another shop located in jersey city (Meineke) which was ($65) and then I had to pay for the diagnostic testing before they can release my car ($110.19)

The Pep Boys replace gaskets and trip out of town gaskets started leaking

6-21-17 work order 2000780 store # 1766
Had valve cover gasket right replaced and oil pan and oil pan gasket replace.
On way out of town started leaking oil and had to put oil all the way from Texas to Arizona
In Arizona took car to dealer : fixed and explained that one of the gasket had broken when installed and Pep Boys try to glue together.
I want a full refund for repairs not done right and for service I paid at dealer .

The Pep Boys poor service at naperville location

My wife last night on her way home got a huge screw in the side wall over her tire. Our 16 daughter & new driver needed the car for her softball practice very early Tues. morning. We attempted to go to this location at 7:30P to see if there was a chance they might help us. The gentleman working the counter Monday night looks at my wife & says do you have a question. It wasn't a pleasant tone as much as it was she was bothering him. She asked if there was a chance she could get her tire fixed & was told no that wasn't possible. There was no offer of any solution to try to help but rather a just no. So we drove the vehicle to Firestone in Naperville at 7:45p & they close at 8p like Pepboys. Was told that would be no problem we'd be glad to help you. 30 minutes later we drove away with 2 new tires, happy, & also knowing our daughter would be safe to drive the car without being on a mini spare.

The Pep Boys service

I took my 2005 Chrysler Pacifica into the pep boys in West Valley City, UT in Feb 2016 for all 3 motor mounts to be replaced. This cost me about $920.00. Then in Feb 2017 one of the bolt broke on the bottom motor mount. I took it back and dropped it off the the West Valley location on Friday afternoon and told them I needed my vehicle back by Sunday attention because I had to go to work on Monday. That Sunday afternoon I was called by the service manager and, was told they did not have a bolt that was long enough or strong enough so I ended up missing a day of work. Got my car back and here we are July 2017 and the bolt broke again. This time it made my car die on me. I got it to start and I called the west valley store telling them I think the bolt may have broke again. I was told they could not get my car in to look at it until next week. This happened on Friday afternoon. They told me to try and take it to a different location. I took it into the Sandy, UT location back the service guy I talked to said they could not get my car in until Tuesday. I called the West Valley store back and Steven, the service manager said try taking it to the Murray, UT location. Before I took it to Murray I called and spoke to Shad, he said he is booked until Saturday afternoon so I took my car home and waited until Saturday afternoon. When I dropped my car off at the Murray location Saturday, Shad said they would get it in within an hour and get it looked at. I waited until Saturday evening around 5:00 Waiting to hear from pep boys and had not heard anything to I called and spoke to the assistant service manager at Murray, he said they had been working on my car since around 1:00 on Saturday after I dropped it off. At this point I did not know, exactly what was wrong with my car, he told me the same bolt had broke that I just had replaced in Feb. Now not only did the bolt break, part of the bolt is, stuck in the block and the mechanic has been unable to get it out. He assistant manager at Murray said their mechanic would work on it again the next day which was Sunday. When Sunday can around I waited until about 3:00 to call to get status, when I called I spoke again with Shad, the service manager. He said his mechanic has been working on my car all day trying to get the bolt out and has been unable too. Shad then told me I need to contact the West Valley store to see what we need to do, whether it needs to go to the dealer or machine shop. I am really frustrated at this point because that is not my job, my car is torn apart and he should be calling the West Valley store to let them know the status. I then called the West Valley store and asked for Steven, he was not there at the time I called. I spoke with the assistant service manager Bailey and explained what Shad at the Murray store had told me. I told her I either need my car back or a rental car because I had to go to work on Monday. She said she would get in touch with Steven the service manager and would call me back. About an hour later I received a call back from Steven, he said they can't give me a rental because they don't do that as a company. He then told me he, was going to have my Pacifica towed back to his West Valley location and have their mechanic try to get the bolt out of the block. I then told steven again I need to get to work and needed a rental. He then told me they don't have any type of shuttle service and he was sorry but he will get my car done ASAP. So then we get into yesterday which is Monday, I waited until about 3:00 to give Steven a call to get status, when I called at first their phone system was saying their store was closed, I tried about 3 times and finally I got 0 and was able to get transferred to service. I spoke with Steven and he told me he had just got my car dropped off. My car was, supposed to be towed over to their location the night before, not Monday afternoon. Ok so I asked why he just received my car when it was supposed to be to their store Sunday evening, he told me the towing company was unable to pick it up Sunday before they closed. He said his mechanic has been working on my car and the bolt is starting to move but it would not be done by the time they closed Monday night. So here I am Tuesday and still no car and had to miss a second day of work. I also called customer relations yesterday and was told by Julio that it would be 24 to 48 hours before I hear back from a manager. I am furious right now. I have had to miss work because they did not fix my car right in the first place!

The Pep Boys car repair

Took my car in for brakes 12/20/2016 because of squeaking noise, they told me brakes where fine I needed new rotors and drums ok this is a 2010 Toyota Corolla, I paid $428.10 to replace these items okay everything was fine squeak went away, had to take the car back in January the squeak was back, so they replaced everything again. Had to go back again on 3/4/2017 the squeak is back again really if they would have just replaced the brakes like I went in for, I don't think I would have this issue now there telling me it's my rear end, wow had me pay all this money out for brand new rotars and drums and now there saying it's the rear end, just because I'm a woman it doesn't mean I'm stupid all I needed was new brakes, I will never take my car to the La Habra Pep boys again actually I will not take my car to any pep boys, this is the 2nd time I've taken a car to them and I get the run around, plus the service manager has attitude with you Joel Lopez, he actually asked me do you drive with the emergency brake on " really " I'm not stupid...unbelievable

The Pep Boys car service

I towed my car to pepboys as recommended by my tow driver because they have parts on hand. My car had been leaking coolant everywhere and I knew I might of needed a new radiator or hose. Bob comes back with his mechanic behind him after 5 minutes of inspection and tells me I need a new engine. I asked him if he could replace the hose for now and send me on my way. He told me he didn't have the hose so I asked if he could make something work. Almost two hours later I get a $200 bill for a rigged hose and absolutely no engine advice. I went to meineke up the st and they replaced my radiator and coolant lines and I'm good as gold. All of that fear and helplessness they gave me for exactly what I originally thought was the problem. I literally feel I was just robbed of $200

The Pep Boys an employee

You have employed a monster! I can only imagine the way he treats and talks to customers! I am disgusted by this man. If this is the type of person you employ we will boycott your store and let every social media outlet know the type of people you employee!
I encourage anyone to speak their minds, in a cordial way without disrepecting people and being hateful. Obviously this man doesn't appreciate the job he has, or you as company stand behind this beahvior. Either way it is never ok to speak to people like this on or off the clock. He represents your business, and we wont support it!

The Pep Boys services dept. - a/c repair

I've had Pep Boys fix my A/C 4 times - once last year and 3 times in one month (May-June 2017).

The first time it was repaired, it lasted one year.

The second time I got stranded in another state and come to find out that the belts were never changed out and I could have gotten stranded on the highway.

The 3rd time was exactly one week after the 2nd repair took place.

Now my car is currently at the Pep Boys located in Tucson, AZ and I have yet to get a call with an update - dropped it off on Sunday 6/25 and it is now Thursday 6/29... No courtesy calls and when I call I get the run around. I paid for labor warranty and the part has a warranty, where is the customer service. They better not try to charge me for the $94 recovery/recharge...
FYI, this left me with no transportation to work for a whole week!

In addition to this, we've left 3 messages with the corporate office because the 2nd repair costed us $624 and it should have been taken care of because of their mess up with the belts. Have we gotten called yet? NOPE! Such bad customer service - their customers don't seem to be priority. I wish I could take my car somewhere else but the part warranty and labor warranty fees should leave me paying $0 for repairs. I hope someone monitors these reviews so we can get some answers.

The Pep Boys customer service

Good afternoon my name is Miguel mondesi. Tjis past weekend I spent over $ 300.00 at one of your locations. 2633 e. Treamont ave. And Becuse I cannot find my receipt. They refuse to give me my money back even thought they are able to see my transactions. As a manager my self I find this to be in acceptable. And on top of it all they were rude nasty yelling at me and being uncooperative even after I provided them with the transaction. Numbers that I got from calling customer service. I asked when the manager would be in so I could deal with him. As I was leaving the supervisor on duty shouted you still aren't going to get your money in a very nasty tone. One employee shows and tells me it can be done. But the other refuses.
This is buy far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I don't understand how you allow your employees to treat customers this way. If I am not get tjis issue reaolved. I will definitely no longer be a consumer.

The nearby Budget muffler 1870 Eastchester Road is really a Pep Boys. They charged me for one battery and put a cheaper battery in the car. Refused to take battery back. Told me it was used!

The Pep Boys customer service

Today I went to Pep boys to buy a car battery. We are told to go to maintenance and service to get the car checked. We talked to the person I. Charge who told us to move the car to the service area to get the battery and starter checked. After waiting and waiting in the area my husband went to ask one of the mechanics the reason behind our long wait to which he responded if you don't have a turn no one will check the car. We tried to explain that those were not.the instructions given to which he simply shrugged and walked away. I am appealed at the lack of empathy shown to us and will no longer service any of my vehicles in the place.

The Pep Boys battery replacement

I went to get a new battery in November of 2016 got the battery. In April of 2017 my car stopped on me, once the hood was open acid had spelled out all over new battery, and the battery was not connected probably.
Now I have to take time out of my busy schedule to take car back to get replacement battery, that should have been completed in the first place.
I went to location in Bedford park, in Chicago land area.
I am on the expressway all the time. This is not right to pay for a service that was not properly completed. I spent all day that Sunday I came to get this matter taken care of, I will not recommend pep boys to anyone.
I work for a large company and we are known for our customer service.
With all that has happened i need to be compensated for negligent workers at this location.

The Pep Boys front end alignment

On march 6 2017 i paid 100$ for a front end alignment in my 01 jeep cherokee i had my mechanic put in a new steering box that day and my passanger side tire was sticking out so i took my 01 jeep cherokee to get the alignment before i left i noticed the steering wheel was not straight but didnt think it was a big deal as long as the front end was aligned. About a week later i stared to hear a noise on my drivers side tire. When i inspected it i saw the tire was wearing uneven and the steering stabalizer shock was unbolted. As i inspected the front end from a distance i noticed the drivers side tire was sticking out. I dont think and alignment was ever done to it because the steering wheel was not straight and the same tire that was sticking out before was still sticking out. I asked my mechanic to check it and non of the cotter pins from the tie rod ends were new which should be changed out after an alignment. So basically i paid 100$ for them to do nothing to my jeep and one of my tires is wearing away uneven. I would like to see how i can get my money back. I took it back today as this is my only day off since march 6th and i was told it was nunder warranty and i could drop it off to get it aligned again for free. But if they didnt align it right the first time i did not want to leave it again. I would just like to get my money back for the 100$ alignment. I will no longer be taking any of my vehicles there and will suggest to anyone that needs any kind of work done no matter how small or easy it is to stay away from pep boys. If the alignment could not be done they could have just told me and i would have taken it sonewhere else instead on driving it up the ramp and doing nothing to it. I currently have my jeep at a shop that is charging me 20$ for the alignment and i will be taking the receipt to the pep boys to show them that they did not do an alignment on my vehicle and if i can have a refund for the work i paid for that was not done.

The Pep Boys no service done on my company fleet vehicle

I dropped of my company fleet vehicle on March 25th 2017 at 10:00am at the Rancho Cucamonga Ca. location on the corner of Foothill Blvd. and Hellman location for some simple vehicle maintenance (oil change, brake check, air pressure check, ETC.) I told the attendant that they can have the vehicle until the end of day March 26th to have it done. I never received a call from them and it was close to 6:00pm. I drive over anyways and told them I was there to pick up my vehicle and the attendant said that it was not ready, I told them I needed the vehicle back because I had to work the following morning. So I asked them what was done and they said that they only did a AC check which was one of the things I told them was to be done only if they had time after everything else was done. and the AC was not even fixed, my vehicle did not get an oil change nor air put in my tires, nothing at all was done that I asked them to do. They had my vehicle for 2 full business days and they managed to do nothing with it. I will be calling my company corporate office and telling them to pull PEPBOYS from the list of approved service departments, and believe me that the company has a few service vehicles all over the country that they are going to loose as customers. Total and unacceptable customer service!

The Pep Boys tire change

I went in on February due to a flat tire at the pep boys in Petersburg, Va. The gentlemen rotated my off set rims on my 89 Trans am GTA causing the control arm on the passenger side to carve a groove in the back of my rim. This car was all original and pristine condition. There are now grooves carved out in my rim on my Trans Am. The rim will need to be replaced.

The Pep Boys overbooking and slow service

I called the Pep Boys location in Hueytown, Al on March 15, 2017 and scheduled an appt for March 16, 2017 at 7 a.m., which meant I should have been the first customer serviced. Unfortunately, that was not the case. First, they did not unlock the doors until about 7:10 and that was because another customer, that was standing outside in the cold, got their attn.

Secondly, they knew upfront that I would be waiting as my car is my ONLY means of transportation. I didn't get a diagnosis until after 9 a.m. and once I was convinced to have the work done, I was told the needed part wld be there by 11 a.m. and my car wld be ready that afternoon.

I overheard a conversation between the manager and a tech regarding them already having alot of customers from the day before. I let them know that I wld be willing to bring my car back but was told that the part was already en route so I decided to leave it.

An employee took me home about 10:30 and about 2:30 p.m. I called for an update and was told they were STILL waiting on the part. I called back about 4:45 and was immediately placed on hold, nobody ever came back to the phone.

I have been without my car since 7 a.m. and missed work, doctor's appts and running errands. As I submit this complaint, it is now after 5:00 p.m. and still no car and no updates.

This is very much unacceptable and inconsiderate of people's time but they expect their money.

I will NEVER use ANY pep boys location again.

The Pep Boys rude staff

My wife was treated rudely by pep boys employees at the Blanding Blvd. orange park Florida location. When she told me I was shocked to say the least. I will never go back there and have also told all my co-workers, neighbors and friends to boycott this business for their lack of common courtesy.
Hopefully pep boys will go away as a bad business. I also filed a complaint with the BBB Better business bureau.

The Pep Boys ordered a brake rotor and pad kit

In December 2016 i ordered the kit online, when I received the kit it was for a different car. They mixed up the orders somehow, as I received the brake kit for a guy in Texas and he received my brake kit (Georgia). So no big deal right? WRONG. I call up customer service and they acknowledge their mistake and send me a package slip to return the brakes and they said will get a full refund. 2 days later I track the package and they have received and signed for the brakes. 1 week pass no refund, 2 weeks no refund. So I call up again they confirm they did receive the brakes. The customer service person said ok ill put in another request for your refund. Another week passes no refund. I called and spoke to a manager (James) here is his excuse. "oh I'm sorry we see you did return the brakes and I will put in another request personally for your refund." Long story short its now middle of January and no refund. I called a few more times only to be told that the Finance dept is really swamped and my refund should arrive shortly. Now its first week of Feb 2017 still no refund. On Feb 7 th I get a call for pepboys "we cant find the brakes you sent back, until we find them we can't release your refund. I told her in a nice way I sent them back and I have proof and multiple pepboys employees verified they received the brakes. She still insists that they can't find the brakes. I said "Pepboys just refuses to give me my refund, that's fine we can settle it in court. Have a good day. CLICK

I was advised that I needed 1 tire; however when I went to pick up the car there was a nail in another tire and low tread (slow leak). Why wasn't I told that I needed 2 tires so that I did not have to make another trip?

Very disappointed with that misquoted information.

The Pep Boys service / tire repair

Took my truck in for a tire repair. Ask the service writer if rhey pluged or patch the tire from the inside, he we take the tire off the rim and patch from the inside I said I'm fine with thats thats what I want. Looking around in side the store I noticed my truck out front. Being in the mechanics field most of my life I knew it was way to fast to have been patched. So I ask the service writer if it was he said yes. I told I'm going to take my truck back home dismount the tire and found it was just plug do after putting my spare on my truck I drove back there and talked to the service writer again about the plug he said that is the way pepBoys repair there tire and is the proper way so after 4 hours of b/s I finally got my tire fixed at sears. I will puch my truck 5 miles before walking back in a pepBoys

The Pep Boys broken hood latch, poor customer service

Currently sitting in the lobby awaiting my husband to come and pop the hood on my 2005 audi a4.
I brought the car in simply asking that the hood be popped so that I could add water since the car was running hot. Couldnt drive the car any further and was also late for work. Was told it would be too difficult a job and they could replace the cable, with an hour wait, and was told the price would be $168+ tax. I agreed and gave the mechanic the parts (Hood latch and cable). Upon seeing the latch, the mechanic asks if the cable was broken under the hood or under the dash? I reply, under the dash. He replies, oh that shouldnt be that hard to get open. Great! After waiting approx 15 mins, a tech at the counter comes back and says again, it's too difficult to pop the hood and the price will go up due to added labor of popping the hood. I immediately get upset as my husband (Who is not a mechanic or service tech) can pop the hood in 5 mins! I tell the service tech, no. I will call my husband to come and pop the hood. The service tech replies, ok i'll go see if the mechanic can get it open. Unbelievable! I really feel like these guys see a woman coming and immediately start seeing dollar signs. My husband watched a 45 sec youtube video on how to get this hood open and these guys act like I was asking them to perform brain surgery!
