Penske Truck Rental Truck rental

November 19, 2021, Penske Truck Leasing CO, LP made an unauthorized charge to my Credit Union credit card of $10,951.25. Penske Truck Leasing CO, LP provided truck rental service to Elmer Brown LLC which I'm not the owner nor part of this company. I made a one-time payment on its behalf, to Penske Truck Leasing CO, LP which was a one-time verbal authorization on October 17, 2021, for $3,689.67 to pay the account of Elmer Brown LLC, it was stated that this card was not to be saved for future payment which Manager Trainee Kevin Swider, acknowledged they wouldn't save. My credit card was saved unknowingly to me and was used again this time without any authorization to pay the account of Elmer Brown LLC. I reached out again to Penske Trucking CO, LP several times only to be told on December 9, 2021, by Mr. Kevin Swider, that he would speak with his supervisor and get back to me. December 15, 2021, tried contacting Mr. Kevin Swider, who said he had to speak to the Finance Department and would get back to me, when I called back, Mr. Kevin Swider, said the funds would be returned back to me charge card.

December 24, 2021, I, finally contacted Mr. Kevin Swider, who stated he no longer was handling the account, the matter of the account had been transferred to another manager named Andrew. On December 28, 2021, I spoke with Andrew, who also stated that he was waiting on a response from the Corporate Finance Department to give him the authorization to rerun the funds. I called back again and spoke with someone name Sam who stated Andrew was not available and that he didn't have any information from the Finance Department; the only thing he could suggest I go after Elmer Brown LLC for reimbursement there was nothing they could or would do. This company seems to have an unscrupulous practice that needs to be changed.

Desired outcome: To reimburse me for these unauthorized charges and to honor their verbal agreement to not save customers' cards for future charges as promised.

Penske Truck Rental Truck not serviced properly

On 9/27 picked up 26ft truck at Home Depot in Hermitage, PA.

Took to our home and packed our entire household belongings, left for Jensen Beach, Fl onthe 29th of Sept. Traveled to the North Carolina boarder, approx 400 miles, stopped at the rest stop just over the boarder.. 4pm.

Truck would not run after that. Called customer service, which took over an hour to get a response, with 3 phones calling. Rep said to go to a dealership and purchase DEF, which we did. That did not work, called back and said they would send a rep to help with the situation.

We were told the truck had to be towed, and all our household had to be transfered into another truck. This was at 11:30pm. We went on to Orangeburg, and left our 54 year old son to stay with the truck. They sent one man out with two little kids to transfer in the dark. My son, who forutnately is strong, helped the Penske rep.

They finished up nearly 5:30 am. My son then drove the truck to the nearest hotel, and slept 4 hours, then met up with us in Orangeburg, Which we could not get our money back for the hotel, He paid for his hotel out of his own pocket. We arrived in Jensen Beach at 1am in the AM..

My son was to fly out the next day, and missed his flight as it was an early one and we had to take him to the airport.. He flew out the next day out of Orlando, which we had to buy another ticket. And take him to Orlando which is 4 hours round trip.

We were told on the phone, that we would be taken care of.

Nothing from Penske at all. Spoke with the rep from Youngstown and she said they would pay for the DEF and hotel, but nothing yet.

Some of the furniture was damaged as it was dark when they unloaded and reloaded the truck. All in all, it was a terrible experience. We are in our late 70, and do not need this aggrivation.

Desired outcome: We want reimbursed for 2 hotel rooms, DEF and 1 airline ticked.

Penske Truck Rental Truck rental prices that weren't as agreed upon

Good morning Mr Sacer (EdwardSacer, Albany, NY)! I spoke with you in early September concerning pricing for Agape Bread of Life Food Pantry to rent trucks from Penske. We agreed on a price of $75 for 16ft truck and $150 for larger truck. For some reason Nick, the truck rental manager, has been especially inconsiderate of the pricing that we agreed upon. Nick has even been extremely cocky and arrogant when Minister Anthony Lewis, who is the Agape Bread of Life representative, explained that the price wasn't the price that Pastor David Camp Jr (Director of Agape Bread of Life Food Pantry) and Mr Edward Sacer who had agreed on in September of 2021. It's extremely DISAPPOINTING to know that Nick refused to honor or respect the pricing that was agreed upon. What is even more disheartening is that most Corporations are donating and giving millions of dollars to help feed the disadvantaged during this pandemic, while Penske keep raising the rate for truck rental for our Food Pantry. Sir, I want to remind you that we already spend thousands of dollars each month to purchase food and supplies for needy families, and we only asked for your company to discount the rental price for your trucks, and not to donate the truck as many other companies are doing. I am extremely DISAPPOINTED in how we have been treated and wonder if we would have been given more consideration if were a white operated Food Pantry, and WEREN'T BLACK! I will be forwarding a copy of this complaint to your Corporate Office as well. Thank you and have a BLESSED DAY!

Pastor David Camp Jr.

Desired outcome: We are looking to be refunded the difference between the prices that we agreed upon versus the prices that we were repeatedly charged.

Penske Truck Rental Service, Fraud, Deceptive business practice & wire fraud

On November 5th I rented a 26ft box truck one way from Penske, the Duluth, GA office to be exact. Pick up was from Bethlehem, GA schedule for drop off to ElizabethTown, PA . I was totally unaware that during my rental period I was not allowed to perform other business contracts as the vehicle was leased under my business name Nolia Cargo Moving LLC. On November 6th, 2021, the Penske Duluth office was called by myself to report the lock sticking on the passenger door causing it to not open. Because of this setback I would have lost major money due to the inability to work and contracts could not be filled. As stated during a recorded phone conversation, I did mention that I traveled all over the Country. The representative's response was "I'm so sorry for your loss" and therefore compensated me three additional days for the inconvenience. The rep also advised me that the contract never stated that I could not travel across the country nor did he say I would have to go straight to Pennsylvania. No such things were in fine print stating my inability to go across certain state lines.
A day after getting the door "fixed", on November 6th, 2021, November 7th, 2021 the door jammed once again. Another setback and loss of income. Once again Penske was called, an apology was made and compensation was given for an additional three days so that brings the total of extended days to six bearing in mind I had to keep going to the service center on my personal time and what should have been working hours for repairs that should have been fixed prior to renting out the truck.
Once the truck was repaired, at this point I was at such a loss that I started moving freight that caused me to end up on the West Coast and ended up being longer than anticipated. I realized that my time was almost up on the truck rental so I did what I thought was right and called the Duluth office to let them know what was going on and they encouraged me to go to the nearest Penske office that happened to be in Montebello California, "The office from hell"to renew my contract. I went into the Montebello office and tried to extend my contract and was subsequently denied and was told I had no business being in the West. The vehicle was insured with my company's insurance coverage of one (1) million dollars liability. The Duluth and Montebello office were both in communication with each other and were both deceptively emailing back and forth on how to handle the situation. After they were done I was told that I would have to come up with $9000 nine thousand dollars in order to move the truck after which I informed them that it was loaded with freight containing Government Property. I also made them aware that it was a Federal offense to break the seal as I would have to leave the truck at the office because I did not have $9000 so I would need them to sign a waiver and or a notice that the freight was on the back of the truck, in which they refused to do so as well. I also made the workers in the Montebello office aware that I had less than $1500 on my person.
Here;s where the extortion comes in. Because they did not want to be held liable for the freight, I was asked to come up with $2500 and they would allow me to take the truck to Kentucky, then Georgia to continue my drop offs and pick ups and then return the truck within nine (9) days to the Montebello office. The original drop off for this same truck was scheduled for ElizabethTown, PA so I really didn't understand the logic behind me coming back on the West coast for a return.
For some reason the truck kept on breaking down after leaving the Montebello office. The first incident happened on November 16, 2021 and RoadSide Assistance was called. The truck was fixed and once again two days later, broke down . I reported to another Penske Service center. Now this is three days of time I have lost from the constant stopping and repairing of the truck. They refused to put me in another truck on November 18th and a few hours later, the truck once again broke down.Losing now four(4) days off work. I realize that I will never be able to get the truck back by the 25th of November, 2021, and it also happened to be Thanksgiving Day. After the fourth breakdown, they then decided to give me another truck. But, with freight still on the back I was unable to transfer the load and they were very uncooperative in assisting me. I asked if they had a liftgate to make the transition easier but received no assistance and as a result brought me to a loss of greater than four thousand ($4000) along with 4000 miles of work with a rate of two dollars ($2 )and under a mile
There are recordings of the issues that I had with this truck. Your company has tried to fraudulently obtain funds from my account by authorizing transactions on my card that were nowhere on or a part of our agreement. I am outraged and very disappointed with this level of service and lack of professionalism. I felt targeted in EVERY way like there was a personal issue with myself.
My total loss due to these chain of events have cost me close to $30, 000. There were also attempts to illegally obtain funds by authorizing debits from my bank account. I was called by the Penske Texas office while being sent a whole new unsigned contract that was forwarded to myself as well as a bill from the Penske California office .

Desired outcome: I would like compensation for loss wages, and any/all fraudulent practice to cease before legal action is taken.

Penske Truck Rental Rental Service

On July 7 2021 I turned in a truck that I was renting from Penske to have some repairs done. I was suppose to pick up another truck but Penske did not have a truck available for me rent. I had paid for the rental a week in advance but was not able to get the truck because they did not have anything available. I spoke with Kyle O'Keefe who handle the transaction, he was very rude and disrespectful, he stated that their was a glitch in the computer system and was not able to forward me a receipt showing my credit for the week I paid for rental of the truck they did not have available for me to rent, they took $1325, out of my account and then threaten to call the police on me. I also asked to speak to the manager and Kyle O'keefe refused to get the manager so I can talk to him about my concerns. I want my money deposited back into my account

Desired outcome: MY MONEY BACK

Penske Truck Rental Rental truck issues

I am Sylvia Johnson from Memphis Tennessee. I rented a Penske truck from Home Depot on Riverdale. The truck was a hard pull but I didn't know that it was leaking fluid. When I got to Dallas Texas I noticed that the brakes were not working well. I call Penske and the technician said there was a leak. I was so depressed because my arm hurts because of the pull it took to drive the truck. I feel that I didn't get the service I paid for. I was soo depressed that I cried all night. I am 62years old and my experience so unfair.

Desired outcome: Refund

Penske Truck Rental purchase truck

I am tired and frustrated Becouse I been treated unfair by your company. I baught the truck (unit # 711019) from your compny on 11/09/2020. When I picked up the truck and was on my way to Oklahoma city, there was oil coming out of the Engine, engine fan wasn't working I talked to the custmer care. Then they said to take it to our oklahoma service center, which I dropped when I reach to OK city. After a week when I went to pick up the truck, there was same problem that I told them, they said they will see again after that I went back to service center atleast 40 times and I was always told that it was fixed now but when ever I went there I saw that the problem was never fixed. In march, I was told that they would send to the dealer for the problem, but after that I went there they said they are waiting fro approvel from Re Marketing.Called them again and agian got same answer that they are waitng for approval, than I call remarketing, talk to mr Greg he told he will look into it and will call me back. I never got got a call from him, then I called again then I talk to mr rob he told me that samthing again never got a call. Then i called again and talk to mr Greg then he told me to talk ALEXA TROUTMAN (who is tthe saleperson for this this unit). I called this sales person hundred of the time she never answer.(I was calling her in all that time since I baught this truck but she never respond.Finnaly she respond after I left a angry massage. She told me she will open this case again and after that I never heard from her called her again she is not responding till now I am waiting there is no answer.I dont understand that did I make any mistake by purchasing the truck from you? I heard a lot nice thing about penske but it truned me down..THIS TRUCK WAS PURCHASED IN NOVEMBER, SINCE THEN I HAVE BEEN SITTING AT HOME, COULD NOT GO TO WORK BECAUSE OF YOU. WHAT SHOULD I DO . Penske Truck Rental Truck driver

I'm not sure how it all works but whoever was driving a Penske cab in the photo I attached he was driving recklessly today in Liverpool, NY. He tailgated me, aggressively changed lanes behind me, was driving 15 mph (at least 60 in a 45) over the speed limit and ran a red light at a very busy intersection. On John Glenn Blvd around 1:30 pm on 2/9/21. Not sure if this is a driver paid by Penske or someone that just rented the vehicle but I would definitely suggest not renting to him anymore.

Penske Truck Rental Truck purchase

I have never been treated with so much disrespect and disregard. The irresponsibility across the board within your company is awful. The customer service is worse. I will detail my experience from the beginning of my sales experience. My experience at the beginning with Jeffery Althouse was great. He assisted a colleague of mine and me. I told him I was buying a truck, and my colleague also. He was attentive and assisted my colleague and me. He gave me the right information and moved the sale right along to the vehicle coordinator. At this point was when my experience started to go downhill. [edited] was the vehicle consultant that was assigned to me. Her customer service skill leaves a lot to be desired. Every time I spoke to [edited], her demeanor was as if I was bothering her. I would email her, and she would take a long time to respond, and when she did respond, her response would make anyone feel like the customers were annoying her. The tone in the emails confirms that. I asked her via email several questions, and she would always tell me that I had to reach out to the garage. For example, to confirm the truck's information about having an e-log device, I also had to coordinate when I went to pick up the truck myself. I do not work for Penske; she does. If she did not have answers, she has to get the information and forward that to me, not to keep sending me to get the information. She sent me the wrong attachment in the encrypted email. The attachment was supposed to be Penske's Bank information. She attached the bill of sale by mistake. Anyone could make a mistake; however, her response to my inquiry was the problem. She asked me if I got the email, and I said yes. I saw the encrypted email, and so I responded that I received it. When I opened the attachment, I saw it was the wrong information. I emailed her back, and her response to me was I asked you if you got the email I sent? Then proceeded to tell me that she attached the info. I told her the attachment was not the bank info; it was the bill of sale. She asked me if I opened it and saw the payment info and told me she was working outside of her working hours and would get back to me the next day. The point is every time I reached out to her; it was like pulling teeth to get any information. I wrote an email to Jeff Althouse requesting another consultant because I was done with her inefficiency. She also told me that I could take the truck and have no plates or registration. If officers pulled me over, the officers would understand. Imagine if I had listened to her. She sent me a picture of the contact information of the shop in Webster. However, it did not have the address, nor did it have the hours of operation. Should the consultant provide that information? Maybe coordinate the pickup? Make sure that the customer and the shop are in communication or give you a contact person? I had to do that myself, which is why I ended booking a flight for the wrong day. I spoke to someone at the shop, and they told me that they would be available, not realizing that it was Saturday. When I called to confirm, they told me they were closed. I begged the employee to please let me get the truck because I had purchased flights and set everything up for the day. The employee said he would go in on his own time to give me the keys. I took the train from NJ to NYC. Then I took the subway to Queens, where I went to JFK airport. I boarded the flight to Rochester. I landed and took a cab over to the Penske location in Webster. When I got there, the employee was waiting and started to get things ready. When we went to see the truck, it had no fluids, and he had to put the coolant and other fluids in the truck. I told the employee that those things should have been done before I got there. The truck had no diesel, either it was on empty. Why was this truck on empty? I also asked the employee about the DOT yearly inspection. The sticker the unit had was punched in 2018. Which means this truck was not inspected either. The employee told me that I had to get it done, and then he placed a new sticker with Sept 2020 marked. The bill of sale states the truck will be inspected, steam cleaned, and inspected to meet DOT guidelines, and this truck did not meet those standards, as I would shortly find out. If they had cleaned the engine, it probably would have fallen apart. It also stated I have 15 days to report that the truck was not in the promised condition. I started to drive, and almost immediately, the water in the fuel light came on. When I called and asked my friend a mechanic, he said that happens when the fuel level is low, and the fuse may have blown. I rushed to gas the truck and put approximately 104 dollars' worth of Diesel. I drove for about 30 to 40 minutes, and then the truck started alarming. The truck flashed from fuel in gas to a low coolant level. I had to pull over immediately. I was in Hannibal, NY, on NY 104 and 66th rd. I got out of the truck and saw the coolant was everywhere. I opened the hood to see that a steel coolant line was so rusted and corroded that it opened. I called roadside, and they mislead me. They led me to believe that they would send a mobile mechanic on site to fix the line and check the truck. They gave me a number to call, and when I called the mechanic, they told me that I am responsible for the payment. I tried to get the issue resolved myself, but I could not find anyone to come out. After hours of going back and forth, I was told by roadside that they will not send anyone to me and that I was responsible for any expenses and that I had to call remarketing. Still, it was Saturday afternoon, and I would not be able to speak to anyone until Monday. I was left on the side of the road for over 6 hours until I could get a tow. It cost me 729.00 to get the truck back to Penske. I then spent another $16.06 to get to a hotel where I would spend two days trying to arrange a way to get back home. Finally, it was Monday. I called remarketing to report what happened. The Lady who picked up, I am sure it is noted on my account what her name is because I do not remember her name. She told me that a manager would get back to me then gave me his email to contact him. She told me he was in, and in fact, he was not. I was later told that he was not in. I had to call again, and then I explained the same story to another person; his name is Zachary Eberly. I had to repeat the story, and he told me there is nothing he can do and that I had to pay my way home even though I was stranded 6 hours away from home because of Penske. He said to save my receipts and send them to him. I requested a manager because no one can make decisions and compensate me or find a solution. The manager was not calling me, so I had to email Zach back to tell his manager to call me. The manager called me. I had to repeat the same story. He apologized, but an apology is not enough. I told him I did not want that truck and that it did not meet the standards, and now I have spent thousands of dollars extra because the truck was not inspected, and it was in bad condition. He responded that he must check to see if the district wants to do a buyback as if that is an option after the egregious negligence from Penske. He also said I could not comment on the vehicle's condition because I have not seen it as if I was lying. The truck stopped working after half an hour after I left Penske. It was super rusted, and the tow truck driver spent an extra 20 minutes trying to remove the shaft to tow it because it was so rusted. The oil pan looks like it is about to fall off, not to mention the rest of the things. This truck does not meet DOT standards. I was not asking for his opinion; I let him know that the truck's condition is not acceptable, and frankly, it is a lemon. EVERYONE IS PASSING THE BUCK, AND NOONE WANTS TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OR SOLVE THE ISSUE. AT THIS POINT, REFUNDING ME FOR THE COST OF THE TRUCK AND ALL EXPENSES SHOULD NOT BE A QUESTION AS YOU GUYS CONTINUE TO MAKE IT SEEM. The only person who helped me through this was Candice from Penske 1 commercial reservation. She did not have to do any of the things she did. She went above and beyond. She called the managers and made them aware. She negotiated a cheaper rental rate to get me home since I had to pay that also out of pocket. How could she do something, yet no one else I spoke to was willing to help me? I paid almost 400 dollars to get home and spend more on gas. I had to take an Uber to Rochester's rental location, and when I arrived, I was greeted by J Plyer after knocking on the door because it was closed. Mr. Plyer came outside and asked what he can do for me, and I explained that Candice had made a reservation for me and that she stated she told him what happened so I would not have to repeat the story. He said yea, she told me, but I told her that it would not be ready until 4 pm and it was about 1 15 pm. I told him I was stranded and that I had nowhere to go. Mr. Plyer was not empathetic, and he was side-eyeing me, looking at me with a disgusted look on his face like my kind was not welcomed there. When I told him I had nowhere to go, he told me to find a restaurant to sit in. It was raining and cold in Rochester. I had to walk in the rain more than half a mile to find a place to sit and wait until 4 pm until the truck was ready. I had to walk back in the rain to get the truck.
To summarize this letter, Penske failed to provide a safe and reliable truck, as promised. The customer service was horrible, and It is evident that this truck was not inspected and delivered in the promised conditions. I am seeking an immediate resolution to this issue. I am requesting a refund for the vehicle, including taxes and all unforeseen expenses due to the situation. Or another equal solution such as a better truck and the reimbursement of all unexpected expenses. I am losing money daily because my truck is not on the road, and I have not worked since Saturday when the incident happened. Attached are the receipts of all expenses incurred.
Now they tell me that they will refund me part of the expenses because the other part has to be done by another department. And I must wait for 15 days for a refund. Took them 6 days to tell me they would get a refund and now I have to wait another 2 weeks and I have not worked in 6 days. No offer to provide a temp truck until I receive the money. Basically, I am out of luck. Until they want to pay me. So who will compensate me for the three weeks of lost wages? I want my money today.

I picked up a truck in Roseburg Oregon. I asked if I could just stay parked in front of the office, inside their fence, for the couple of days that I needed to return the truck. She refused, saying "it's against our insurance." So, I was forced to park on the street, where my catalytic converter was ripped out, and then the car towed. That's way more money...

1. Received a call the night before my scheduled pick-up time requesting that I accept a smaller truck.
2. Truck was not available at my scheduled pick-up time. (The company was in the process of locating a truck after I received a confirmation that the reserved truck was ready for pick-up.)
3. Truck was turned over with a three inch crack in the windshield leaving me open to financial and legal liability. Luckily I was able to stop the rental agent from pulling her car out of the parking lot minutes after receiving the keys to the vehicle.
4. The ABS warning system went crazy at 3:00 am in a dark and desolate area. A PENSKE emergency customer service agent advised me to ignore the warning. Needless to say I was praying during the remainder of the trip.
5. Found that the truck roof leaked on my belongings while unpacking.
6. Reported all issues to a customer service agent on October 13, 2019 and was advised to contact the manager of the drop off location. Reported all issues to the manager of the drop off location on October 14, 2019 and was assured he would follow up with all involved. Of course I have heard nothing from PENSKE since.

Penske Truck Rental purchase of tractor from penske

I purchased a premier Truck from Penske, that I picked up for Massachussetes on Oct 18, 2019. That same day that I was driving the truck back down, we found that the truck had several issues. Actually when in Massachussettes, we told the people there that the truck engine was making a loud noise and they said it wasn't anything. There were several broken things in the truck. The window was leaking. The clutch was messed up as well. So we drove it down to the Penske in Burlington and brought it to the shop to tell them all the issues. 5 days later they said things were fixed and we ended up bringing the truck back that same day because clutch was still not corrected, engine light was on, window was leaking. The post sales person Phil Cavell told me that if I wanted to go pay and get it fixed myself that I could do that. In my mind he had some nerve to say this to a paying customer. He wasn't concerned that my driver could have drove the truck and been killed because this clutch was still not fixed. He sided with the shop rather than holding them accountable. Penske would have been sued if something would have happened to my driver . This is really bad business. The post sale person was horrible. He needs to be retrained on customer service and if they are not going to be accountable to help the customer then who WILL? I guess repeat business must not be a factor here.

Very disappointed in post sale person. The other people, such as the salesman and every the finance people were much nicer.
