Call quality
Using Ooma for about 4 months. Actually not bad and cost is good. QoS on the other hand is a problem. When connected, both parties overtalk each other. You need to pause a second or so before the next person can talk. Complained to Ooma but no cure. Upload speed is not the issue. If they could fix this, Ooma would be as good as my Comcast Phone.
Fraudulent scheme
Beware of Ooma Phone service. I purchased an Ooma unit for my son who resides outside my state. Ooma shipped 2 units to my son and when I inquired, Ooma told me via email that my purchase was for ONE unit ONLY. When I got my Credit card statement, it showed a billing for TWO Units. Ooma then advised me they would credit my Credit card that day, that was 15 days ago and the credit card company has not yet received any credit deposit from Ooma

Scam or cheating
Several years ago, I bought an Ooma hub, due to this advertise " ...Kiss your phone bill and say good bye, never a fee again, ..." After about two years in use they charged my credits card $4.75 / mo. for server fees and taxes. I refuse to pay, and my phone was turned off. I complained and was answered " We reserved our right to change.." Is that another way to say " We reserve our right to cheat you as we want ? " A contract is a contract. It should be kept and no one can say we reserve our right not to keep. Very disappointed to pay 4 times the cost of a magic jack just to be cheated that way ! !

These are government use fees. Ooma is required by law to collect these fees and send to local municipalities and federal government. You'll see these same fees on any phone service, cable, etc. If you don't like this, then vote for a smaller government. It's your government that is "scamming" you, not Ooma. Get off your lazyboy and make your voice heard.
Invalid fees
Ooma is charging me for fees and plans for which I have not signed up. Called to get my plan adjusted but no help from the off shore support team that does not speak English well. Ironically, their phone connection was not in good order and they are a phone company. Ooma business practices are sketchy, stay away.
Constanz again. I made a mistake, the really hairy stories on WhichVoip were about Magic Jack. The majority of Ooma comments were positive but almost all from people who's service was fine from the start. So no customer service contact.
I bought the message on the Consumer Reports website that Ooma was great, bought one at Future Shop then couldn't activate it because I don't have a credit card (don't believe in them, they are a ripoff). Now I'm glad I couldn't, too many reports of their skeeviness and incompetence on the Web. See the Site WhichVoip for more and more colourful descriptions of Ooma problems. All these voip gizmo companies seem to not have real tech support. They don't know how their machines work. For one woman on WhichVoip, it turned out the Ooma wasn't compatible with her Internet modem. She found this out by accident, with no help from Ooma. These gizmos can also be blocked by the firewall in your Internet modem. They aren't really as easy to use as a toaster, and need to be with useless tech support. And Ooma is the most expensive. Also: what happened to companies that send you a bill? A company that wants to put charges on your credit card without your permission is just creepy. Consumer Reports missed that bit too.
Ooma - Be aware
When I purchased the hardware to be a Ooma phone customer I was advised by Ooma, in writing and verbally, that it would take 3 to 4 weeks to port my phone number. This cost me $40.00. Its been over 8 weeks and still no phone number porting.I have contacted them at least 5 times and get the same run around and a future tenative date for the porting. Now I cannot return the hardware because it has a 30 day return policy.

When we first purchased ooma it work very well. Now it seems to over ride the caller and there is a delay. Not the phone because I purchased another phone. I need to know how to fixed this problem or I need to get rid of ooma.
