MUFG Union Bank - Closing of account

My name is Sharon Nichols, the daughter of Isiah Nichols who has had dementia for the past six years, and who is alive and well. On 9/14/22, a search warrant was served on Union Bank located 18616 Gridley Rd., Artesia, California regarding account documents on behalf of Isiah Nichols and Margaret Lauless (now deceased) due to Elder Financial Abuse. MUFG Union Bank Credit card payment

My name is Wai Wong. I would like to lodge a complaint regarding the service of your credit card center and the branch in Rancho Bernardo. I made a full payment ($1047.39) to my credit card account on 1 Feb 2022 by chase cheque. Upto this moment (9 Feb),I check my credit card account that this payment is still not settled. I called your credit card center on 2/5/2022 and was informed that they did not receive any cheque payment from the branch in Rancho Bernardo. Your staff asked to contact the branch again and they had nothing to do. I then called Union Bank in Rancho Bernardo regarding the payment. Your staff,Stephen Man told me that they did send my cheque to credit card center. They had also nothing to do. What happen to your bank now? Who is responsible for this case? There are two possibility of my cheque status! The first one is that your bank has lost my cheque and the second possibility is the low performance efficiency. It is not reasonable to settle my cheque payment more than 8 days. Another problem is your staff attitude towards my complaint. I spent over 2 thousand dollars in your credit card for the past 40 days. I now consider to close all your bank accounts including credit card account. My credit card number is [protected]

My phone no is [protected]

By 10 am i called 800 number to be told i had to many transactions
Then that the issuer cancelled the check
So i called a branch spoke to Yolanda who told something isnt right and would call. Me back
Hours later Yolanda called me to tell me the funds were on hold do to insufficient funds .

I called the check issuer asked for proof from her bank and submitted to Yolanda and hours later i think by now its 3pm and still no answers but finally replied to my email submitting proof the check was paid.
She assured me she'd call me back but did not so now its been over a week and I'm overdrawn ive never in my life had a bank put a hold give me a date funds will be available i get the funds for 4, days then decided to put another hold on already released funds.

MUFG Union Bank business account

I go to a branch to open a business account and I am told after mentioning what my business does the account will be closed. I was like what? I write to corporate then get a call from an area manager to go to another branch to open the account. I was apologized to. At the other branch I was apologized to and this is your money. We would have no need to freeze an account. So I opened an account. 3 wires came in with 1 on the way. I got a cashier check to take to another account to wire an amount for a utility company in another country. Then I went in as I knew another wire was coming in and wanted another cashier check on my money of course, but was refused. I was huh? My account was frozen so the manager of the branch lied. They wanted an invoice. Well some of my business is invoiced in ways would not reflect entire wires, but Union Bank wouldn't know anything about individual business procedures only their own. I wrote to corporate and oh my the office of the president called but didn't do anything. The money was held a long time and one of my clients was scared by the bank. Finally after my finance manager said I was to take Union Bank to court I got a check. Hmmmm that good old court system will put a fire in their pants. I finally got the money from the wire in another account but really what is going on in banking in the USA. Good thing I had other money available to me or I could have been financially hurt. Again the good old principle of the matter should be allowed in court. Procedures might change a bit in all banking institutions. I felt like I was being strong armed and I was in trouble for doing nothing wrong. This Big Sister is Watching Union Bank and other bank policies. I am not afraid to speak or file complaints. Actually I love helping people so if one person can be spared the ignorance Union Bank used on me I feel an accomplishment.

MUFG Union Bank card services

Epitome of incompetency and abysmal follow-up. Only one card was ever sent out for a joint account (usually that means more than one person on the account!). I requested the other card in the other name. Five months passed without one ever being mailed. I went into a Union Bank branch (in Big Bear, Ca) and requested this card. Union Bank mailed a duplicate card with the same name as the one and only we had [censored]. I then went into the home branch in Carlsbad and requested this a second time in the correct name. Five weeks passed, no card mailed. I went in again, complained and requested this once again, in the correct name to a representative and the branch manager, Kenny Reykes. I was told one would be Fedex'ed the next day, or Friday. Friday and Saturday came and went without delivery. Six months to try to get the second account holder card without any help or follow-up after numerous requests, and one incorrect card mailed. Abysmal. This bank also is not accredited or participate in ConsumerAffairs accreditation - read the abysmal reviews there.

MUFG Union Bank Getting over charged overdraft fees for no reason last 30 days $400.

This is the 2nd time I've found that your company changes my report around to fit your sneaky ways of stealing my money.your charging me $3300 fees when there's money there.like I said I've seen money stolen for a long time so now I check weekly and found that for 40 days you stolen around $400 in wrongfully charges. You change dates. Change the order things are paid.Plus you charge for no reason and then it snowballs and just gets larger amount.last two weeks I've had both pay checks cut to half the amount from your mess ups.I'm really thinking of getting rid of direct deposit. That goes for the company I work for that also has an account with you. This is the second time in 12 months this happened that I noticed. I'm scared to check every week I've banked its probably thousands.
i hope you fix this promptly.

MUFG Union Bank Worst bank

Union Bank is AWFUL. Would give 0 Stars if possible. They recently started re-ordering your debits and make largest ones hit first (didn't other banks get in trouble for this years ago). This is just a FYI as I don't make charges that won't clear but I do not feel that manipulation on your transactions is on the up and up.

Union Bank has just recently started holding direct deposits in pending status for 2 days after they have received direct deposit. My direct deposits have been done for over 2 years and this "holding" has only consistantly started occurring within the last 3 months.

Worst Teller customer experience: When I tried to make a $80.00 cash withdrawal to keep $40.00 and put $40.00 into another account that I am not on. Simple right? $80.00 out of my account. Keep $40 cash and hand deposit slip and $40 for another account deposit on an account I am not on. (Not possible for me to do a transfer to the other account because I am not on the other account). The teller rudely help up my $80 withdrawal slip in front of my face and ripped it up. Told me I didn't do it correctly and made me fill out 2 withdrawal slips from my account each for $40. NEVER in 4 years have I been told I filled out my withdrawal slip incorrectly when doing this very same transaction. To make me fill out 2 withdrawal slips like this was beyond reasonable for a simple transaction.

DAY I DECIDED ENOUGH! Had a Union Bank Rep do a pending debit "release" directly with the merchant on the telephone who was trying to credit my account back for a charge that had not gone through yet (in pending status) and UNION BANK put the "released" charge through the account anyway and debited the account and paid the merchant. Now Union Bank is claiming that it is the merchant's fault and they committed fraud. HUH? recap: Union Bank Rep does a release on the pending debit directly with the merchant on the phone and Union Bank pays the mrechant and it's the merchant's fault!

They are now telling me that for me to have the money they paid the merchant, I have to file a claim against the merchant for the fraudulent charge which can take anywhere from 10-90 days. Have they lost their friggin minds? The merchant didn't commit fraud. The merchant was crediting the account back and Union Bank PAID them after they "released" the charge.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS BANK! They "play" with your money at your loss and expense and blame everyone else.

MUFG Union Bank I have banked with this bank for a little over 2 years and have paid a lot of fees in overdrafts

I have banked with this bank for a little over 2 years and have paid a lot of fees in overdrafts. Some of which I did get but others I don't get. In the last 2 days they have charged me $170.00 in overdraft fees when I check my balace before I go to bed and its always positive and when I call for an explanation they tell me "It's not a bank error or we have given you $160.00 already back in overdraft fees and can't do anything for you." Something has got to be done about this because if you were to add up all the "not our error" overdrafts I bet its close 20 $1500.00 dollars.

MUFG Union Bank I hope nobody ever goes through what I went through with them

I was fired by the company after 85 days of employment. The reason for termination was "lack of meeting performance standards." I have worked for banks since 2005 and never have experienced what I did with the company. I was given sales goals for the Quarter 3 of 2010 on July 1, fired July 20, that was an unfair gauge of my quarterly sales numbers since we weren't even in to 1/3 of the quarter and I had no sales goals up until July. I was not told a single time that my sales needed to pick up, how I was doing, etc. The first I heard of problems with my numbers was when I was fired. The management provided no support during my time there, a lot is expected of you but you are not given the tools needed to excel. the company employs managers who are driven by sales but during the interview process they sell you on "service." They claim that they care about employees and due to being owned by a larger Japanese company Mitsubishi UFG, they are conservative and sales aren't everything. The board of directors for the bank have come from Wachovia, Wells Fargo and Bank of America who are all heavy on sales. It is a huge time typical bank, posing as a small neighborhood bank. I hope nobody ever goes through what I went through with them, banking with them and working for them was terrible and I need everyone to know this.

MUFG Union Bank Disregard for rules, callous ineffective reps, poor ability to solve problem

Incident = Traveling in Thailand I lost bank card. Had it cancelled. did not have bank account number handy. Was treated like a third world citizen. Told "Well that's your fault you lost your card, we have policies we need to follow:

Having been a customer "care" specialist for varied companies I know when you are being pushed aside. Union Bank is by far the worst customer service experience ever.

I talked to 15 different reps, until one kind soul offered to send me a card to Thailand. Others said that was not possible. My Social Security Disability goes into Union Bank Acccount (or used to I switched that).

With no funds to access from my primary bank, no offering of being able to a. get a new card, b. set up online banking (we'll mail you a pin code) that was two weeks ago. Did they batch process my card without proper postage.

"Well there's no way for me to know that, " snipped a snooty rep who when asked to talk to supervisor put me on a mute that didn't mute. I heard him bad mouthing me then singing to nearly 10 songs before his supervisor (he claimed he was a supervisor: that's a telerep scheme) answered and kept broken recording me.

We can't do anything. You chose to leave america, if you were here we could help you.
Can I wire transfer into my other account from the "nice bank?"

No you have to be here in person.

Then, in frustration called again and got an angel: who admitted the bank has mixed policies. No one would read regulations to me using their "system." They even refused to give me a number to complain about the issue outside their bank.

I believe it is a LAW that banks need to have the number to escalate the situation to the federal bank authorities.

Oh we don't do that... that's your problem.

If you like to be treated like dirt, call 30 times (on your own dime ... or dollar) if you're overseas DO NOT USE UNION BANK.

Their reputation is well deserved: Money grubbing institution who's major goal is to get you off the phone and even branch manager in San Diego Mary or Rick refused to take my call.

So here I am. I have 1000 in Union Bank Account. I am out oof money. They don't care. No offer of help. I called office of president: no response.

I'm confused: Aren't they obligated to provide me a way to get my money? Sending another cared to Thailand is ludicrous (I was told by nice rep even if I got card couldn't activate it over here...) The online pin number has not arrived at the forwarding address i have. I can not "telephone transfer funds."

This is customer service taken to the worst level imaginable. I'd prefer to deal with some rep in India: at least they will say what the rules are becuase they know how to read them off a screen. To hear reps bad mouth you when they think you are on hold, to get no sympathy from work weary burnt out managers like Rick and Mary from the HILLCREST BRANCH IN SAN DIEGO and their associate who claimed to have overheard my situation and there's nothing or no time to help me.

Lucky I'm in Thailand. I can camp out and live off of $1 or even take a beggin bowl around. Who knows when/if ever I can get the money in my account.

Because I'm not keen on buying back into the American Bank system.

Let the swine dine... and may they live and prosper like big fatted calves.
Have a big mac and light beer to celebrate, Union Bank reps. You must be so proud to be a member of such an upstanding and compassionate company!

THE GIST: I have 1000 in account. no one cares. I can't get a bank card sent that arrives to me. No online code. refusal of telephone transfers. And the attitude like: Oh well.. that's your problem.

I consider it a challenge: Not to push this to the limit and get involved with others for a collective lawsuit based on disinformation and the refusal to give out a number for a federal consumer complaint line.

Laws: who needs them if you are a megabank.l.. Oh I forgot ENRON... CitiBank maybe Union Bank is mad they haven't yet gotten a bailout.

Krab from Thailand

Damage Resulting = I have no money to rent room. I will need to rely on handouts to have food. My mental health has been jeopardized. I'm confused about lies and inability to follow laws. They basically took my Social Security Disability and give me no reasonable option for me to close my account.

RESPONSE FROM UNION BANK: OBVIOUSLY THEY ARE NOT TAKING ANY ACTION TO SOLVE THE ISSUE: INSTEAD THEY THANK ME FOR ALLOWING THEM TO BETTER TRAIN THEIR REPS:

Notice no person signed this, no e-mail address given and you can't even find an e-mail address on their website:

Dear ...,

Thank you for your recent e-mail. We can certainly understand your frustration from the events described in your message and we truly apologize for the poor service provided by our banking representatives. We stride to provide superior customer service to each customer we assist. We will use your feedback as a coaching opportunity for the banking representatives.

We appreciate the opportunity to assist you.

Thank you for banking with Union Bank.

Sincerely,
Direct Banking Services
--------

My response to response:
What does this response mean? I you going to do anything to resolve my situation, or just use my unfortunate treatment to "educate your reps."

To be honest: Good luck. You did not address the major issues on the consumer complaint.

Just another way you give "superior customer service"
Still left out in the cold with no one (once again) doing anything to gie me access to my funds.

The blanket e-mail response will be added to my growing list of poor communication, avoiding the issue I am denied access to my funds in a reasonable amount of time and that you use it to say "you will your reps better."

Thanks for not providing me with a solution to the issue: once again.
And giving me more fuel to make sure others know that this is not an honest reputable bank.

Not only is this not OK, I'm certain you are breaking laws and cover up your mistakes with blanket responses like the one you sent me.

Thanks for making my day!

cc: Consumer Complaints, as many websites as I can find to make this well known to anyone who searches "Union Bank" the Federal Banking complaint lines along with transcripts and notes from each time I called.

AN ADDITIONAL FOLLOWUP AFTER REALIZING I COULD NOT FIND THE E-MAIL ADDRESS FOR MAILING UNION BANK ON THEIR WEBSITE and THAT THEY HAVE NO WAY FOR PEOPLE TO CANCEL LOST CARDS 24/7. This weekend they are on vacation!
___________________

To "direct banking" at Union Bank

FYI: there is no way for a customer who does not hae online banking to send a e-mail to you. I've waited for my password for over a week, have no bankcard, conflicting information and now... see that you encourage people to call you "right away" if they have a problem with an issue.

You were not there when I called about my bank card being lost. Other banks have 24/7 lines to cancel your card.

This is turning out to be a really good story for some investigative journalist. I now a few personally: Perhaps 20/20 or some big news show would enjoy covering your screw ups, callous attitude toward customers, violations of federal laws requiring a CORRECT way to contact the Federal Reserve (a rep didn't give3 me phone number and listed a totally wrong name).

UnionBanCal Corporation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd., which is a subsidiary of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc. Union Bank is a proud member of the Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG, NYSE:MTU), one of the world's largest financial organizations

Perfect> and you won't mail a bank card to me in Thailand...
Keep up the good work, I'm enjoying documenting every e-mail and call. Perhaps I'll get a response that pertains to my issue sometime...? Written by a person with a name and title?

Enjoy your bank holiday: you deserve it!
PS: I have updated the complaint I made with the consumeraffairs site that sent the first e-mail. I'll be searching for other websites and alerting as many people as possible. I think it's a very interesting story esp. since Americans bail out banks like yours and how much are your officers raking in. Perhaps they are busy packing their stuff up for the trial?

Lawyers sound like a very good thing at this point!

Update:
I meant a CODE was sent to activate online banking to an AMerican address.
As I was still expecting the card "any day" *and no rep knew where it was though they confirmed the Thai address) To take a risk and cancel the card wait three more days for them issue another card, the time it takes for them to mail it to an american address, add the federal express time and cost...now we're up to March. As I said my disability will go into another nicer bank: Tri Counties Bank. They actually care and treat people like people.

Any more ideas? Anyone?

Thx

What is missing.

Someone that will take time to get me access to my funds.

Yes.. I am in Thailand. Yes the bank is owned by a Japanese conglomerate.

The fact the I needed to answer "20 questions" to prove my identity to be assured that the card would be mailed to Thailand is proof that at least one person had some sense of customer service.

OK.. I've tried the mail it to America route. They supposedly mailed a card to an american address. even if it didn't go there I have my mail forwarded from my former "home" address to another address. That was Feb 3rd it's the 18th. They don't know, or nor can they find out where it is. It is untraceable.

It's sad that at Union Bank one can come up with a solution like you did? That may be an option, but why would I want to take more time mailing a card to a relative for them to spend money and time to Fed X it to me.

When I've been without access to funds for nearly 21 days?
If they can't offer me a solution to get me either
a. The card expressed to Thailand
or a bank code mailed tome
*which would put my account on hold and not allow transfers for six business days
Or allow me to wire transfer funds without seeing me inf front of them...

I once again left up to the whims of the bank who has not sent me a bankcard as promised (or at least I haven't received it), can't confirm where the card is or where the password is (I tried that with the bank code... send it to someone in the states... never got there).

If you have other solutions I'd be happy to hear.

It boils down to uncaring reps, rules that can't be read verbatim. I imagine you work for a better company and wish you much luck.

Perhaps they are going under... and won't do anything more until the news hits the press. Then I would be out of luck... like now.

Sri Sangthuama of Mizoram living in Delhi is making frequent call and ask me to deposit some amount informing me that I have been choosen for Microsoft Promo Draw. As I am aware of the fact that no lottery organiser inform the winner first, it is the winner who ask the organizer and more over if I hav'nt purchase any ticket or coupon how can I get the prize. So, we should aware of the such unwanted elements of the society and handed them over to police for resurrection.

Can't you have the bank send you everything to your home address in California (or wherever it may be) and then have a friend or family member pick it up for you and send it to you via FedEx? They keep track of all your account activities, so I'm sure they can see that you used the card in Thailand - it should be no problem to send you a new card... Something is missing here. Please explain.
