Please avoid this mover at all cost. This is the most unprofessional group of people I've ever dealt with. They are extremely dishonest and rude. I used this mover to move my household goods from Florida to New York in June 2008. Before I booked this moving company I made it very clear I needed my goods delivered on June 18, 2008. I was told that was not a problem and that it would take 5-7 days for my goods to reach NY and that they would hold it in storage until I arrived in NY.
My household goods were picked up on May 31, 2008. I had been given a binding estimate based on cubic foot. I was told by Lea that I could leave my dresser drawers full of light items. The day of the move, the movers made me empty my dresser drawers and purchase packing material from them. In addition to that they charged me extra money for the added box claiming I went over my cu ft. In actuality I had less cu ft then in the estimate because I had decided not to take some items.
When I booked the move I told Roni (who is the rudest, unprofessional, and most deceitful thing alive) that I was unsure if I was bringing everything and she told me not to worry that the movers would do an inventory the day of the move. Even though I had less on the day of the move then what was on the original inventory list they still charged me more the day of the move. I confirmed on June 11th that my goods would be delivered on June 18th. Lea told me that my goods were in storage in NJ waiting to be delivered to me in NY.
I arrived in NY on June 17th. I called to confirm the delivery of my goods the next day. Lea told me that they could not guarantee my goods would be delivered on the 18th and that they would be delivered by the end of the week. I was frustrated but ok with the fact that I would have my goods in a couple days. I called on the 19th to see what day my goods would be delivered and she told me to stop calling and that if I thought calling her would have my goods delivered any sooner then I was wrong.
I was furiated with the way I was being treated. She told me that my goods would be there Friday and that they would call to confirm 24 hours prior. I didn't get a call on Thursday so I called to make sure they were still going to be delivered on the 20th. I spoke to Roni and she told me to call dispatch that my goods were ready to be delivered and they would give me a time. I called dispatch and they had no idea about my shipment.
After a few moments he told me that my goods were in NC and wouldn't be in NY until next Monday. I called Roni back and told her what I had just learned. I told her that Lea told me two weeks prior that my goods were in NJ in storage and now all of a sudden they were in NC??? Roni did not have an explanation. I told her I wanted to know where my goods were and when they were being delivered and she hung up the phone on me. I was outraged by the customer service being provided.
After many more nasty phone calls with Roni and Lea my goods were finally delivered to me on June 24th. Come to find out they hadn't even left Florida until June 22nd. So according to their lies and deceit, my goods were in storage in NJ on June 11th, the mysteriously in NC on June 19th and then made its way back to Florida on June 22nd. I had been lied to about the delivery and whereabouts of my goods the whole time.
When my goods were finally delivered to me on June 24th, a week late, Roni would not let the movers unload the truck until I paid in cash. The contract and agreement between Roni and I was to pay with a certified bank check which I had. When I questioned Roni about having to pay in cash, she told me that since I filed a complaint with AMSA the day before that she was going to make my move as hard as possible and told me if I didn't pay in cash she was telling the movers to leave. This was a breach of our contract. I paid in cash because I wanted this ordeal to be over with.
Almost all of my goods were damaged. My boxes which I had packed had been opened and retaped. And a box containing all of my electronic equipment (computer, printer, monitor, DVD player, DVDs, MP3 player, computer supplies) was missing. To this day that box has not been located (to no surprise). Also, they were not able to reassemble any of my furniture (which I had paid them to do) because they lost the screws. It's been 5 months and they still not have assembled my furniture.
I contacted Lea informing her of all of the damages and asked her to send me a claim form. She told me she would mail one out. I waited a month and called stating that I had not received the claim form she said she faxed it to me to what fax number I don't know since I did not have a fax or ever give them a fax number. I called the DOT and told them what was going on the lady instructed me to write them a letter outlining all of my damages and send it certified mail and that they had 30 days to acknowledge it. I did just that. I sent it certified mail with a signature confirmation.
I waited a month and of course didn't hear anything. I filed a complaint the the BBB. Roni in reply to the complaint with the BBB, called me and said she never received the letter, even though I tracked in on USPS.com and had the signature confirmation. Her reply to the BBB was that I never sent her anything and that I had too much time on my hands and was making everything up. This lady is real piece of work. It's been 5 months and I've yet to resolve this issue. For your own good please avoid this company. Tell your friends, tell everyone you know. They are scammers. I hope this helps you and saves you the trouble I had to go through.
