Motherhood Maternity / Destination Maternity Terrible customer service

Do not order from this company. There are so many other cuter maternity clothing stores that have their ducks in a row and who care about their customers and remaining in business, unlike Motherhood Maternity. I had the worst experience I've ever had with a customer service rep from Motherhood today, and the worst ever experience with a company that I've ever had in the last week. It all started with a simple swimsuit order. I receive someone else's order from across the U.S. a week later. I call in and tell them, they say they know already because the other person called already to let them know she received my order. No one bothered to let me know. I received no apology - the rep just babbled on about how she sent me a free shipping label to return the item that wasn't mine (obviously), and that I need to send it back within this time frame or I'll be charged for the item. Huh? This is your mistake and you're threatening me with charges if I don't hurry up and get it back to you, when I've never even received my item yet. She tells me I need to order my item again, doesn't offer to process it for me due to their mistake. Nothing. Fails to send me the free shipping label. Fails to process my refund. I call back three days later and wait on hold for 30 minutes. Still no swimsuit. I tell another rep what's going on and that I really prefer not to have to continue to have this on my plate since again, not my mistake in the first place. She says she can send someone to pick it up from ups. Great, sounds good. She tells me to be available the following day (at home) so they can come get it. I remain available... they never show. I call back and let them know about the no-show and that I still haven't received my expedited shipped swimsuit as I was promised, and my refund still hasn't been processed. No apology, she says she will process the refund, which still hasn't showed up on my account. I tell her this has been a hassle, and I'm about to keep the item that was sent to me by mistake due to the trouble. She says I will be charged if I do that. I ask how I'm supposed to return it without a label and if I can talk to a supervisor. She transfers me to the rudest woman I've ever talked to. Caroline. Caroline states that a shipping label has already been sent to me and that I need to go to ups to return it. No shipping label was sent to me. I tell her that if they can't figure out how to send me a label or have someone come get it, and since this is their fault in the first place, out of pure frustration, I am about to keep the item I don't even want. She tells me I will be charged. I ask her what Motherhood does to rectify situations gone wrong which they are responsible for. She says nothing. I tell her this has been a lot of BS and I have still never been apologized to. She tells me to watch my mouth and that I can't talk to her like that. I asked for her name and remind her that maybe this is why Motherhood has such terrible reviews. I remind her how other companies work, and how I've never been treated this way and never had another problem, and that I will never order from Motherhood again based on my experience. She says she doesn't care. I ask her if she gets paid based on customer reviews of how she helped them. She says nope. I say I can tell. So currently, I have no swimsuit, and have paid for 2 of them. I'm about to get charged for ANOTHER item I never ordered due to Motherhood's mistake. I never received a free shipping label so I'm expected to pay for shipping on an item that isn't mine. I was treated poorly, and have wasted my morning on this horrible excuse for a company. They definitely need to be a little more selective when it comes to hiring if they ever want to stay afloat. This Caroline lady should be fired immediately.

Motherhood Maternity / Destination Maternity Customer experience in store

The whom it may concern,
Today unfortunately I had the worst experience I have ever dealt with in customer service in one of your locations in Bellingham WA.
I am 37 weeks pregnant and I have purchased every maternity item I have worn with your company spending countless dollars and beyond extremely loyal.
I was completely taken back whenever I brought in a bra I had bought a week prior trying to exchange the item. The bra did not fit so I wanted to exchange it for a larger size.
It took a week to bring back because I live on an island that is an hour and a half away AND I woke 40+ hours a week So for me to drive so far to one of the locations takes careful planning and time. So when I take my time to make a 3 almost 4 hour round trip I expect at least adequate customer service.
The worker not only did not great my friend and I when we walked in she was no where to be found. There was not a single associate to be found for up to 15 minutes.
I had to go search for her in the back while she was on her phone.
When I went to exchange the item she refused to return in because the tag on the item was on it but the little barcode fell off. I asked her if there was anything she could do and she said that no it was against policy.i was so upset because it's silly to expect a barcode that is already made to fall off easy to not fall off. I explained how upset I was because I had just drove so far, I could literally have the baby at any point, and that it would take me at least another week to make it out there. she said "my manager would probably make the exception but she isn't here, soooo" and then trailed off.
I asked her what she could do and she said nothing "I don't have the codes for it"
I asked her if I took it to the other store at a different location if they would be able to and she said "maybe, but I can't"
I purchased the shirt I was holding and waited for my friend to exit the dressing room.
My friend then went to exchange an item she bought online that she had still in the packaging and before she could ever get a word in the girl immediately said to her "sorry without the receipt I won't return this for you" and my friend looked at her dumb founded and responded "I was just finding it on my email please give me one second"
"Sorry but we can't do it that way"
Which isn't true and my friend told her to try because at this point we were both beyond irritated.
Turns out she could do it, I just want to make it clear I am beyond upset. I work in customer services at a bank and it is our rules to ALWAYS at least try and help to customer. I wouldn't have been so upset if she at least attempted.
I will not shop at the Bellingham store again, the customer service was terrible and honestly people could have walked into the store and stolen items while the employee was sitting in the back room nowhere to be found.
She was unprofessional and unaccommodating. It would be one thing if I wanted my money back but all I wanted to do was exchange it for a different size.
What happens when tags fall off in the store, will you not sell the item?
I could go into labor at any point and I have to take another long trip to a different store, wasting gas money, to exchange a bra for one that will fit me so I have one when my baby is born.
I really really hope you consider this persons further employment with your company, I would never usually write a review and expect someone to be fired usually, however I was pretty amazed with how terrible she was. I do plan to call customer support, I do plan to speak to a manager at the employees store, I do plan to write a review.

Thank you, again I have been an extremely loyal customer spending my money only at these stores so I really hope you consider that and really consider how your employees are trained on handling customer dissatisfaction.

I would also like if motherhood maternity could exchange my unused unaltered bra, I am willing to do whatever checks necessary to prove the bra has never been worn.

Motherhood Maternity / Destination Maternity Online ordering and returning in store

This is the third time I've had trouble with ordering online and returning in store. The first and third time they only refunded me half of what I returned, my receipt in store was correct but when the refund came in it was only half thank God I checked it bc I would have never known and lost over 150 dollars worth. And the second time I ordered they wouldn't let me return the item in store and had to wait a week and a half to receive my shipping label from customer service that's rediculous! And it took over 2 weeks to receive my full refund and have the customer service email me back for the first and third order, I've worked in retail before and I know this is EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL and really rediculous! I thought maybe the first time it was just a mistake but now I'm realizing it's the company and how they do things! Really should get there crap together bc anyone buying stuff from them are pregnant and don't have 2 weeks to keep emailing and bugging the costumer service to get crap done! WORSE EXPERIENCE I have ever had ordering online and I frequently shop online! needless to say I will NEVER order from them again!

Motherhood Maternity / Destination Maternity Customer service

I recently shopped at your Charlottesville, VA store at the fashion square mall. Your cashier was VERY unfriendly to me and she treated me different than the two caucasion customers ahead of me. The tone of her voice and the service that they got was pleasant. Once she saw me, an african american woman, the look on her face changed and i was not given the same service. I was nice to her, told her thank youa and everything but i got nothing, not even a smile. I feel like if i am spending my money, especially $63 for two items, i should feel comfortable and welcomed by the employees. I will NEVER shop at this location again.

Motherhood Maternity / Destination Maternity Unethical/poor customer service

Horrible experience... Bought an online email gift card. When I didn't receive the card in a couple hours I called customer support. Customer support was rude and very unhelpful. He was not knowledgeable and didn't seem to understand why I expected an email gift card to arrive within a couple hours. After zero help from customer service the email gift card finally arrived 2 days later. When I went into the store to use it the cashier could not figure out how to use it. It kept saying the gift card was from an invalid source even though I ordered it from their webpage and even had the email from motherhood maternity with all the gift card information. The poor cashier tried everything to figure it out and called every source she could think of for help. After an hour of this I eventually called customer support and demanded a supervisor. The supervisor eventually promised to issue me a refund. He said I would receive an email confirmation of the refund and should see the refund in 3-5 days. For this reason I purchased the items I was going to buy with the gift card with my credit card instead. 2 weeks later... No refund. So now the company not only got my money for the gift card but also the money I paid for the products...

To make matters worse I tried submitting an email complaint on the webpage tonight and it said the message could not be delivered... I'm seriously out of options and I feel like i've been stolen from and lied to by this company.

Motherhood Maternity / Destination Maternity Problems with returns

I shopped for nursing bra at valley fair mall, san jose, ca. Since the size changes a lot during the nursing phase, I asked to be measured. Based on however she measured me, I was handed a 38d bra. I came back home with two of those bras and was pretty confident that it will be good fit since I was just measured. So, I removed the labels on one bra and tried it on.In like about two minutes the wires started hurting me really bad, almost like poking into my ribs. I kept them aside and got myself measured at victoria's secret after a couple days. I was measured to be 34d. This sounded totally absurd to me. When I went for returns, I had lost the label for the one bra that I had tried at home. It is very unreasonable to expect that once a label is removed, it could be saved in a house where there are small children around. She refused to return it. I understand that you need labels to return but there is something called as customer satisfaction. I bought two exact same bras and I am returning both because of very very poor fitting. I was measured severly wrong at your store. The bra is totally untouched and has no signs of any kind of usage.

I would be grateful if motherhood maternity understands that it is a fair use of the returns facility and not an abuse. I will appreciate if you can return my other bra which has lost the label. I am ready to go through any test to prove that it is totally unused and untouched in any way.

Motherhood Maternity / Destination Maternity Bump bucks coupon

Well, to start with my experience, I went to Simpsonville Outlet mall in the end of August to buy some maternity wear at Destination Maternity store. This is a sister store of Motherhood Maternity. I bought clothes worth $119 and with taxes it came to total $ 127.I was given a $ 50 worth Bump Bucks coupon that is valid to use from Sep 22, 2016 thru Oct 5, 2016. I was also told that I could redeem this coupon in Motherhood Maternity store in Oxmoor mall. So, when the date came to avail my coupon, I went to Motherhood Maternity in oxmoor mall to buy some more. When I entered the store, a lady came by to greet me and asked if I needed any help. I showed her the Bump Bucks coupon and confirmed if I can use it here. After she said that i could, I started shopping and went for billing. At the billing, another lady said that i could only use the coupon if I spend additional $125 that day (the former lady with whom I confirmed was nowhere to be seen). I misunderstood her thinking that I had to spend again since I had not bought this coupon in their store.
So, next day I drove to Simpsonville mall - Destination Maternity to avail the same coupon. I told the sales lady at the store of what happened yesterday and she confirmed me that no matter which store it is, I have to spend $125 in the time frame (Sep 22 thru Oct 5) to get $ 50 discount on my bill. I was very disappointed (I don't know if I was mad at myself or the sales people). The sales lady when I visited the first time definitely failed to let me know about that. So, I drove all the way back to oxmoor mall the same day since I liked the formal trousers I saw there the day before (Unfortunately Simpsonville outlet mall does not have my size there). When I got there, there was a different sales lady who helped me with my shopping but, when it came to billing, there was a problem again. She claimed that since the bill before taxes was $ 119 which is below $125, she cannot let me use the Bump Bucks coupon. That was a shocker to me. The sales lady when I went in August failed to let me know that. I was tired, furious at those people by then. I dialed the outlet mall store and the lady told me that it does not matter if the amount is before or after taxes and that if I had $ 125 on my bill, I should be able to use the coupon. I handed the phone over to the lady at Oxmoor mall and she talked to her and handed me back saying that there is nothing she could do since the bump bucks barcode is missing on my bill. I demanded an explanation with Outlet mall lady and all she could say is" Sorry". I left the store with tears rolling down thinking how I wasted my energy driving to two stores which are 10-12 miles far, just to save some bucks.

Maternity wear is expensive and all I thought was I could save some. But, I felt cheated by this store. I cannot believe that they could just do this to a pregnant lady.

Im not understanding how you could have been in shock as it is stated very clearly on the front of the coupon that for every $125 you spend you can earn $50 towards a future purchase.

Motherhood Maternity / Destination Maternity Worst company ever

I order online frequently and this is the only company i have ever had issues with.
Placed my order over 2 weeks ago and received an email my order is on back order now and could take 4 weeks? What!
It's taken 4 days just to get a email back from some incompetent employee that told me my order should already be at my house and that unfortunately the website doesn't inform customers of any products that are on back order. . . I requested a supervisor to call me and was told i'd get a call within 24hrs. . . It's now been 3 days. Just got a random email my order is still on back order. . . Worthless company, i suggest not ordering online and just drive to one of their stores if you really need an item

Motherhood Maternity / Destination Maternity Refused to give me an cancellation number

I placed an online order on May 20, 2015 and I received a confirmation email and my acct was deducted at that time. On May 21, 2015, I called customer service to change a size and was told by Kelly I could only cancel my order. Kelly refused to provide me with a cancellation # after she cancelled my order which immediately raised red flags because I have never cancel an order, in person or online, and not received a cancellation #. Kelly said I would receive a cancellation email which I never did. After calling Kelly a second time and with no resolution, I sent an email to the co and after I did that I then received a cancellation email. I highly doubt I will ever order from this company again because excellent customer service is everything. I have ordered before from them for a purchase of $200. The order they cancelled today was $147. If I am going to spend that type of money for clothing I will only wear during my pregnancy, I will have to be satisfied 100%, even if a problem arises. So, technology is more reliable and dependable than speaking with a live person at Motherhood Maternity. That's a small red flag, but a red flag none the less.

Motherhood Maternity / Destination Maternity Damaged Goods

I haven't ever written a bad review about anything but I can not believe what happened with my online order from Motherhood Maternity so I think it's my duty to try to stop anyone and everyone from ordering online from this company. I have bought products from a Motherhood Maternity store and did not have issues with them but the online ordering is another story... I ordered 2 shirts and a pair of pants online around April 17th, it arrived around April 23rd, I tried everything on and it fit well so I threw the tags out (big mistake) and washed everything. After I tried everything on again after taking it out of the wash I discovered the pants were damaged (small hole by the right back pocket). I called the company a few times to ensure I was returning the items exactly as I should and tracked my package until it arrived at it's destination on May 5th. After 7 business days I called the company and they said if I didn't receive a return by May 19th to call back. I called back May 19th and customer service asked for the tracking number and as long as they could see that the package was received at the destination they would reimburse me and notify me on the 20th of what happened. I called in on the 20th again and customer service said there was a return in place on my account and it would probably take 3 days to show up on my credit card so I have to wait a little longer for it. I think that they actually lost my return and that's what took them so long to reimburse me, I am not sure if they would have accepted it if they would have seen the return without the tags, who knows what happened to it. So I am appreciative of them accepting the return but I was so put off by the hassle of trying to return it, I had called several times to ensure I was following the correct process for returning the pants and then found out that I was also supposed to include the receipt from the return shipping to be reimbursed which no-one had told me to do but customer service said it had been written on my account that they had told me to do that. Some of the customer service reps were extremely helpful and some of them were very rude, so rude that they would not help me and were contraindicating what other reps had said (one told me I couldn't return the item but it had to be exchanged but everyone else told me this wasn't so). And finally I was really put off by how Motherhood Maternity functions in Canada, if you have a gift card or store credit you cannot use it for online purchases which a lot of people do not know, the store I shopped at did not even know this so I called them and told them since they were the ones who told me I could use my store credit online. In Canada you have to pay for your return shipping up front, you are reimbursed for it but they do not cover the insurance you pay for your package. Also they do not reimburse for the cost of the internet shipping that you pay for each separate item which I cannot believe! So in the end I ended up paying them an extra $3 for absolutely nothing! It was $3 that I paid for the internet shipping of my pants that the company refuses to pay me back, such a gong show, I will never order online from them again, it is only Thyme Maternity from now on, please research the company you buy from, if you are buying from Motherhood Maternity in Canada you will only end up with headaches

Motherhood Maternity / Destination Maternity Return

I bought a pair of jeans from Motherhood Maternity not even a week ago. They were getting ready to close.. so I just ran in got the jeans and ran out paying with cash, without trying on(my fault). I decided to try them on before I tore the tags off... They didn't fit.. so I folded them back up nicely.. put them back in the bag they came in.. and put the receipt in with them. I get to Motherhood Maternity to return them today and the worker tells me that they had NO CASH in the drawer. I am not worried about getting the check in the mail as that is besides the point. My frustration comes from: How are you supposed to give change to people that do pay with cash if you have NO
CASH in your drawer? I asked if I could exchange the jeans for 2 tank tops and get the few dollars that would be the difference back in either cash or some sort of refund and was told no that in order for me to exchange something it had to be the same price so they could do a swap out. I will not be buying anything from this company again. Waste of my time, as I live 45 minutes from the store.

Motherhood Maternity / Destination Maternity Poor products, rude customer service

I have shopped with Motherhood Maternity twice throughout my pregnancy, and I've been thoroughly disappointed both times. The first time, I came home with overpriced yoga pants, way too short, and one leg a full inch shorter than the other. Unwearable. I was also unable to return them. More recently, I had ordered a dress for a black tie event. They put the wrong zip code on the shipping label, so the dress took over a week and a fair amount of effort on my part to finally arrive at the correct post office, where I had to pick it up, as it could not be delivered. I was disappointed to find the dress had a tear. Because of the poor shipping, I will not be able to exchange the dress and will instead need to have it repaired. I called customer service, assuming they would at least offer an apology and a discount on a future order. Instead, I was given an attitude and no discount. I would recommend Motherhood Maternity to absolutely no one.

Motherhood Maternity / Destination Maternity On-line Customer Service

This review is for the on-line Motherhood Maternity website which was truly terrible! I had a coupon expiring in 3 days and had trouble getting their shopping cart to work. I emailed their customer service for help twice. Two days went by without any response. So I finally emailed them and said that I was disappointed that no one had gotten back to me, especially since I specified that my coupon was ready to expire. Another DAY went by, and they finally emailed back at 10pm at night saying 'Call the Customer Service number'. Nothing else!

I truly enjoyed my visits to Motherhood Maternity. Their retail staff has always been friendly and helpful. I have spent over $1000 within my first few months of pregnancy. Due to the rudeness of their website customer service, and their lack of interest in fixing any concerns, I will never shop here again! They were frustrating, disinterested in customer service, and unconcerned about helping customers with their questions!

Motherhood Maternity / Destination Maternity Bad Quality

I purchased multiple shirts and sweaters from this store in April. Bear in mind that I didn't start wearing the clothes until May. The 1st sweater I bought had 5 holes in the back from day 1. This was my error in not inspecting the sweater closely for any damage. Unfortunately, I did not notice the holes until a month later when I had already taken off the tags and was going to put it in the wash. It cost $39.99 and has never been worn. Sweater number 2 has been worn approximately 3 to 4 times. Little holes are forming everywhere. I estimate that I may be able to wear it a few more times before it is done. I bought 5 tee shirts for $25 a piece. Three of the shirts look as if they are stained. The dye on the shirts look blotchy like they did not launder well. The 4th shirt has been worn approximately 3 times and now has a hole. I am extremely disappointed with the quality of these clothes. There are stings hanging from everything. For the amount of money I spent, I expected much better quality. My husband and I do not have a lot of money and it is frustrating that we wasted so much money that could have been spent on the baby towards the junk in this store. I will not ever buy shirts from this store again. I will state for the record that the pants I purchased have all held up and seem to be much better quality.

Motherhood Maternity / Destination Maternity billed three times for one order

I placed an order online for 71.37. My account was charged 71.37 2 times. I called to complain and the call center refuse to remove charge or allow me to speak to supervisor. The associate told me the charge would fall off once the order shipped. I asked when it was scheduled to ship and she told me it shipped out already. I asked why she still refused to remove charge and she told me to wait 3 to 5 business days. The next day I found another charge for 17.53 from motherhood Maternity. I again called, motherhood told me that charge was added due to a shirt being on back order and that I would be charged the difference between the 17.53 and the 71.37 as well. I asked why since by this time my account had been charged 71.37 two times and 17.53 once. The associate refused to let me speak to supervisor. I also asked why they would not credit me 17.53 for back order since i would not be receiving it, instead of charging me for absent shirt a third time. She refused to help me. I filed a complaint with my bank and the BBB.

Motherhood Maternity / Destination Maternity The insouciance of customer services

I have ordered a dress from Motherhood Maternity on 18th of February. They have shipped my order in 3 days but it couldn't be delivered because of a mistake in the delivery address. When I realized this by following the tracking number, I immediately informed the customer services of Motherhood Maternity and requested them to correct the address. However since 1 week, I can't get any replies from the customer services and nothing is done to solve my problem. I've lost all my trust in this company!

Motherhood Maternity / Destination Maternity Shipping/Customer Service

I ordered a few items from here at 9:30 am on Feb 7, 2012. I selected 2nd Day Air shipping since my husband is taking me out for a weekend getaway. Motherhood Maternity didnt even submit my order to UPS until 5 pm Feb 8, 2012, and my package is to be delivered by END OF DAY on Feb 10, 2012! That is a total of 4 days after the order was submitted! This is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! Do not claim to have 2nd Day Air if thats not what you are providing! Look on the UPS website and tell me what it says constitutes as 2nd Day Air shipping! This is false advertisement and I will be notifying the BBB. I recommend no one do business with this company.

Motherhood Maternity / Destination Maternity Giving my credit card number out

In the past month I have spent $400 in Motherhood Maternity. I have spent my last dime there.

Tonight I saw a bizarre charge on my debit card for $20 from a company called "Parenting Early". I have never heard of the company so did some research online. I only found a magazine company but the price for a subscription is $9.95, so this still made no sense.

After spending thirty minutes on the phone with my bank they provided a phone number for this company.

When I contacted them with my questions, they asked if I had shopped at one of the Motherhood Maternity or Pea in the Pod stores. I had. They said that by paying with my debit card, I get a free subscription to Parenting Early and if I don't cancel within two months, I get charged.

I was never told in any of my three visits to Motherhood Maternity about any magazine subscription. I never would have given permission for any company to share my debit card information.

Parenting Early said that I should have been told at the store. They also said that by signing the receipt, I accept that I will be charged for their magazine if I don't cancel.

I asked them how would I be able to complete a purchase without signing a receipt - which gives them permission to charge me. The answer "You can't, when anyone pays with a card they must sign for, their card information can be sent to us."

Oh, and one other thing--the Parenting sign up has it's own screen on the card-reader which has the full disclaimer on it in small print and a separate spot for you to sign than for the purchase. It still doesn't make it right that they didn't tell you everything, but they did not just sell your number; you did have to sign for it. I've had people just say "yeah, yeah" when I ask them if they want the subscription (and I sell it as a subscription, not a "free issue" like we're told to), and sign not paying attention. If we realize it, there are ways to cancel right then, and I ALWAYS give the info card that spells it all out and has their phone number on it.

It sounds like you have a bad store (or an unscrupulous clerk) but I want you to know we're not all like that.

I wanted to apologize for this to you. I work part-time in a Motherhood store and I've heard this tale many times. I'm currently looking for a different job, I'm that sick of how they have us treat our customers. We are held to certain standards. In Parenting's case, we're supposed to get at least 15% of our clients to sign up (one in every 6-7 sales), and we can get written up or even have our jobs threatened if we don't do well enough. Same with sales--we need to average a certain dollar amount and number of items or we get sat down by management. It's predation, and I hate it. I don't even get commission or anything to make me want sales, but instead I get talked to like I'm 5 again if my numbers aren't at "standard".

Because of this treatment of employees, the individual clerk often has to choose--which is more important, omitting details about Parenting Mag, or losing my job over poor performance? It's an awful situation, but I know which one I used to choose. Now I've stopped caring unless I'm working with my boss, and let the customers determine how their shopping experience will go.

Motherhood Maternity / Destination Maternity Giving my credit card information

Over the holidays I purchased a gift for my sister at this store. Little did i know that they were giving my credit card information to a parenting magazine company. I was checking my monthly statement and saw that there was an unathorized charge of $20.00 on my credit card statement. I was enraged because i never gave any information or gave an ok to subcribe me to anytype of magazine subscribtion. I do remember the girl asking me if i wanted to get emails and a free magazine. I specifically told her NO! So why in the world would she still sign me up? I was furious and called my bank n the magazine company to give me refund in full. It is ridiculous that they give peoples credit card information to make other types of charges! I will never shop at this store again!
