Monro Muffler Brake Inspection notification

On wedsnday 5/27/2020 I scheduled an appointment with Monro Muffler Brake (Geneva Ny location) for a state Inspection at 11am on saturday 5/30/2020. It was made for a 2015 Dodge Dart. On saturday 5/30/2020(day of appointment) I recieved a phone call at exactly 10am(1 hr before appointment) that canceled appointment. It was said that "we have no inspection stickers". I made this appoinment online and also had to go through arrangements with other people to help me get to and from said appointment as I had to drop off and come back due to personal reasons and prior engagements. I think its very unproffesional to call an hr before appointment and cancel due to no inspection stickers when there was 3 days in between. There is no disclaimer on your websites saying that there might not be any stickers. Also I called Canandaguia Ny branch of Monro Muffler Brake and explained the issue after Geneva cancled and was told that "we dont have an inspector in today" but I also mistakengly made an online appointment after speaking with them for 5/30/2020 for inspection after that phone call. If there is going to be "no stickers" or "no inspectors" on site for certain days there should be a disclaimer for said issues that might arise and they should also be taking care of in advance not an hr before said appointment especially if there was 3 days in between(or 2 days and some hrs). This is technically false advertisement under buisness law as you are offering a service that you ultimately can not provide.

Monro Muffler Brake Loud noise

On 05/28/2020, I took in my 2003 Ford Focus to the Monro Muffler Brake on S. 76th St in Milwaukee, WI for a continuous loud noise which would only quiet down when I pressed the breaks. Robert is the person who drove the car in to be checked and he said it sounded like the brakes. After my car was looked at, I was told that it was the caliper on the driver's side and it would cost $327. I left my car there and, on my way home, I received a call from Robert telling me that now that they took the brakes apart, they noticed the rotors on both sides needed to be replaced and that they could give me $50 off and the total would be $512. When I picked up my car, I paid the $512 with my debit MC. Within a block of leaving the shop, I noticed the noise in my car was not any better then when I took it there and was, in fact LOUDER! I went back in and told Robert the noise was still there. He looked at the car again and said it needed another part and he would give me a deal and only charge me $10. I said I didn't feel like I should pay anymore because the problem I brought it in for wasn't fixed and they, in fact, handed me the keys and let me drive away without ever "mentioning" this additional part and clearly no one actually road-tested the car or this would have been noticed and/or addressed. He called the person who was training him and that person told me that you wouldn't know it needed the other part until the caliper and rotors were fixed. I let them know that I fully understood that but that for over $500 I should at least have gotten the original problem fixed and certainly shouldn't have been allowed to drive off in a potentially unsafe car that needed an additional part. Why didn't they check and why would they let me take the car if it was still making the same noise? I was told at least 3 times the same thing...that they wouldn't have known until they fixed the caliper and rotors but that doesn't explain why I WAS NEVER TOLD ANY OF THIS UNTIL AFTER I PAID, LEFT AND WAS FORCED TO BRING THE CAR BACK! They would never answer this question. Why did they call and tell me it was finished if it was still clearly making the noise and still clearly needed an additional part? I left at that point instead of going around and around about it. So after $512 I still have the same problem I had when I went in and I am not even sure if my car is safe to drive. I just want the problem fixed and I don't feel I should have to pay any additional money to have it fixed. If it is not fixed, then I would like a complete refund since the original problem for which I brought the car in for was not fixed and I will be forced to take it elsewhere and have it fixed which will undoubtedly cost me more money. Additionally, I would like the original parts placed back on the car.

Monro Muffler Brake brake service

I brought my vehicle to the Monro Wallingford location on 12/22 for a quote to have my brake pads replaced because it was mentioned when I had my oil changed there previously. I was given a quote for approx $528 and told that if I could leave my vehicle, that they would be able to get it done that same day. I left the vehicle around 12pm. I hadn't heard from anyone by 4 pm, so I called to get an update. The told me that it would be ready by 4:45 as they were closing at 5pm. I went down to pick it up and as I was driving home, I noticed that something was very wrong. The brake pedal pushed almost all the way down to the floor before I could stop. They were closed, so I waited until the morning of 12/23 to call and let somebody know what was going on. Unfortunately, my vehicle was my only means to get to work. When I called the guy said that I could bring it back, but I was in Newington at work. He called me back and advised me to bring it to the Newington location on the Berlin Turnpike where he had called and advised Matt of my situation. I left work to bring my vehicle there to have it inspected. What they found was, the mechanic at the Wallingford location did not bleed the brake lines and they were full of air (huge safety issue). They fixed my issue and apologized for what happened in the other office. My problem with the kids in the Wallingford office is, they told me that they test drove it after the repairs and that everything was fine knowing full well that they didn't actually test drive it. Overall, I was very dissatisfied with my service there. This was the first time that I have ever had an issue at this location. All of the qualified mechanics that I trusted are no longer there and I no longer trust the new people that are there. Perhaps, there should be someone experienced supervising. I hope that you can do something for me to make up for the inconvenience of leaving work without pay to get it fixed properly and those guys letting me leave with an unsafe vehicle because they were in a hurry to close and leave work. If I had been in an accident from this, there could have been a lawsuit. Maybe they should be made aware of the fact that vehicles must be inspected and tested properly before the client leaves. I put my trust in them feeling that they knew how to do their job. If I had been told that was the mechanic who was available to did it was not trained properly, I would not have left it there.
I seriously hope to hear back from someone, because this was wrong on too many levels.
Thank you
Darlene McNamara

Monro Muffler Brake two items and both relate to dissatisfaction

The 1st was in 9/1/18. I have a 2015 Sonata of which is in like new condition. I ordered 4 new tires and noticed a few weeks later all the factory rims were marked with deep digs - when I called I was told we try not to mark the rims but it happens?

I made an appointment early this week for Friday at 4:30 for a tire rotation and brake pad inspection due to them squealing. I walked in, there were two girls who did not have an appointment to get tires and counter person told them to leave car and he would fit them in.

I want to counter and told him I had an appointment and he said I only have one guy here, one called off and the other is sick, you can leave it and we can try to fit it in or make another appointment? He had all day knowing he was running behind and could have called me and never did, then knowing he already had an appointment he scheduled the girls ahead of me?

What type of business are you running and what a way to treat a repeating customer.

Monro Muffler Brake air conditioner repair

Hello:

I brought my car in for an air condition repair in July 23 of 2017 and paid 1100.00 for the repair. In August of 2019 the air condition went out again. I spoke to the shop and they said the part had a year warrenty but they would do 50% off to replace the air compresser again.
However, the cost because of a condenser issue is now costing me 1400.00 to repair on a job that was done only 2 summers ago. I think the repair should of lasted longer if it was done properly the first time. I feel the company owes me some type of financial relief for this huge expense on a repair that clearly didn't last as it should. Its a Honda
CRV 2004. I would appreciate a phone call concerning the issue. [protected].

Thanks
John Cummings

Monro Muffler Brake tire patch/wheel balance

My wife brought a trailer tire in for a patch only. It had a screw in it. At no time was she informed that the tire was going to be balanced as well as patched. I have never had any trailer tires balanced. Had she been informed this was going to be done and charged I would have her taken it somewhere else or requested that it not be done. When she picked the tire up and paid for it, I noticed on the receipt I was charged for the balancing. I immediately called the shop where I was given an explanation that it's standard to balance the tire. Shouldn't that be disclosed when dropping the tire off if it's going to be charged?

Monro Muffler Brake rear shock replacement 2008 toyota yaris

2 months ago I had the rear shocks replaced at a cost of $899.95. I believe this cost to be ridiculous. I have been a customer for years, but will never again go there for anything. I have had oil changes, exhaust system work, tires replaced. I have trusted this company in the past but will never do business there or recommend Munroe muffler to anyone that I know.

Monro Muffler Brake customer service

I arrive at the Cranberry Twp 16066 location @ 4:20, July 4th, with an extended coverage road hazard partial flat tire issue. I was promptley told by manager on duty to make an appointment for Saturday the 6th. Granted, the store post closing time was @ 5:00. There was not a single vehicle in any bay, nor was their a single customer in store. The manager had also stated storewas closing @ 4:30, which was not the afforementioned posted closing time of 5:00 p.m. I am asking for an explaination outside of the unconscionable one provided to me.

Monro Muffler Brake vehicle repairs

BEWARE - Fraud, Deception and Careless Business Practices.

I made the horrible mistake of taking my vehicle to Monro Store # 462 in North Olmsted, Ohio for suspension repair and an oil change. I asked the store manager for good quality shocks to be installed. Instead, Monro installed the cheapest shocks they could find. - Shock Part # 5672. I complained about ride comfort. The store manager promised to replace the shocks with "better ones" after I had the vehicle inspected by another reputable mechanic to check and verify Monro's work.

After a couple more days, the ride was still terrible and getting worse. I went back to the same mechanic for another opinion. The mechanic pointed out that instead of replacing the shocks, Monro decided to spray paint the same existing cheap shocks a different color and covering up the manufacturers label hoping that a mechanic or I would not notice and make the mechanic and I believe that the shocks were replaced.

Monro pried the rear bushings apart on my torsion beam with 2 pry bars and installed 2 pieces of thin plastic to help quiet the vehicle down causing over $1, 900 in additional damages.

Lastly, other drivers on the road kept pointing at my rear tire. Monro over torqued the lug nuts on my rear tire causing 2 of them to break off along with the studs. Monro sent me home with a wobbly tire.

Monro Store # 462 had my vehicle for 4 days to replace 2 rear shocks and perform an oil change. The store manager thought that applying a coat of spray paint to the shocks and installing plastic would provide much better ride comfort.

I paid $783.49. In return, I got spray paint, 2 pieces of plastic, a wobbly tire and vehicle damages totaling $1, 979.22. Monro Corporate does not care what their employees do. They could not even apologize for this mess.

If you care about your car, I would definitely recommend going to another repair facility and not going to Monro store # 462 or any Monro store. Otherwise, get your flash light and a microscope ready and have another mechanic check and verify Monro's work like I did. The best $10.78 I ever spent.

Monro Muffler Brake oil change service

I got an oil change from Monro in September 10th and in December 16th I was get a weird grinding noise from my car and managed to get it to the dealership in December 18th and they told me that I have less than 20% oil in my engine. The oil filter leaked 4 quarts of oil in the lapse of 3 months. The dealership ship stated that I need to replace the long block engine because of all the metal shavings. Now the cost of replacing my engine is $7092.17 and I am holding Monro responsible for the damages. I will attach supporting documents and will await a response.

Monro Muffler Brake muffler braket

On 11/14 at 7:10 am I dropped my car off at Monroe Muffler because on my way to work my muffler fell on the ground. I took the car to Monroe Muffler on Main and Utica. I called around 8:30 and let James know I left it there and where the key was. He said ok and he would call me to give me an estimate. I ended up calling him several times before someone picked up. I called again around 1:30 and he told me his worker was just pulling it in to the garage and he would call me to give me an estimate. I ended up calling him again and he said he had to look around and come up with a part that could fix it and he would call me around 6 and let me know if I could pick it up that day. Around 6:04 he called me and said I would not be able to pick it up the same day but it would be available the next day and the cost would be $192.
The next day I picked up the car and asked James what was the $192.00 for and he began to give me some explanation regarding the exhausts. I cut him off and said this was for a bracket. He then stated well I had to put on 2 brackets and it was 2 hours worth of work. He also stated that my battery died and he had to clean off the corrosion on it and that will cost me $18.00. He did this without calling me and asking for my permission. I never had a problem with the battery even with the corrosion which had been on there for a while, which tells me he drained my battery and charged me for draining it. I then went home and realized there was only the labor on the receipt and no explanation for what the labor was for. I went back to Monroe and James chose to argue with me stating he could not give me another receipt with the description of the bracket with the price of the bracket and he does not give itemizations with exhaust work and the next time, I need to let him know when I need an itemized receipt. I then asked "who does not give itemized receipts and how are your customers supposed to know that you do not give them"? I told him it was enough on the credit card for him to cancel the first order and recharge me for the services and to put the item/purchase of the bracket(s) on the receipt. which he instead typed in the description of what he did and stated that was all he could do.
I promise myself this is the last time I will be price gouged by Monroe Muffler. I have sent complaints before of being over charged and have gotten no response regarding it so now, I will be informing the Better Business Bureau, the complaint office at city hall, and I will be letting anyone that will listen know that Monroe Muffler will cheat you over and over again and they could care less if you complain about it as long as they get your money. This has not been the first time I have been over charged by Monroe Muffler but it certainly has been the last time. If I had of left the receipt as is and whatever he fixed ended up failing and I took it back, they could have said they didn't fix it and try to charge me again. My resolution would to be charged the appropriate amount and look in my previous history and see what else I have been over charged for and refund those over charges. Also on my receipt for my car description it has my car as red and my car is black. Also in the service request is says check exhaust, I di not request that he check my exhaust, I knew I needed a bracket and only requested a bracket. He also wrote my inspection was due 5/1/18 which is not true.

Monro Muffler Brake monro muffler totalled my car

May 5, 2018 I took my Jeep Grand Cherokee (Overland) in for an oil change at the Mount Vernon, Ohio location. My Jeep was dropped 4feet down and stuck in the lift jack. I watched in horror as they tried to get it out. As my jeep was tore to shreds! So shocked and upset .They were not able to get the lift out of my jeep. As they closed for the night. I was with out a vehicle then. And for the next day as well. The insurance co. Travelers called me 4 days later. With no explanation, remorse or any fairly reasonable compensation for this. They said my jeep was valued at 16, 000. is all they would pay. I had paid 28, 680.00 for it 2 years ago. (I did not go into this establishment to leave with out my vehicle! They then said they normally don't pay for a rental car for more than 5 Days! I am so appalled with this situation! So I am now at a loss of over 12, 000.00 for their mistake. No one what so ever has called me from Monro's. I am still in disbelief at such a thing has happened . And a big corporation such as this has no consideration what so ever. Still so unreal to me. More than disappointed, Terri Bower

Monro Muffler Brake repairs not needed

Took my truck to have a simple oil change, brake line fixed and back brakes replaced.

They checked it over said the idle arm was bad(I even looked at it myself and it looked very good) said it was a steering issue and I never had a problem with the steering and while driving on the freeway you could take your hands off the wheel and it would go straight as a board. Mechanic said it was loose and tried to show me by grabbing the roto and it did not budge!

Said rear brake cylinders were leaking and there was NO evidence of fluid on the tire rim or any fluid pooling under the truck when parked.

Over charged on parts and labor and actually used scare tactics like dangerous if not fixed.

A $300-$400 job turned into $918.00.

Monro Muffler Brake conventional oil change

I had a conventional oil change card for $19.00 for a price. This included the oil change, rotation of the tire, lube, free battery check, inspection brakes.
The only thing that Monro Muffler did was changed the oil, but on their print out paper, they mark the rotation of tires, the lube, the free battery check, and the brake inspection.
The car was at a window where I could see it worked on, not one thing was done but the oil change and the Price was $27.73.
