Micro Center / Micro Electronics Rude cashier

I was at the Microcenter in Fairfax today 08/27/2023 around 1:15 PM EST, and there was a limited deal for a free usb flash drive. I was acquiring it for a family member. When I obtained it, he told me that he wanted the free 128 gb micro sd card instead, and asked for me to switch it out.

When I asked for an exchange from the cashier, he kindly switched it out. After the transaction was complete, I asked "Is that it?" because I was curious about whether or not I was going to get a paper receipt or an email receipt, and he rudely yelled at me "Yeah, skedaddle!"

I left without saying a word, however that was an incident where I felt I was spoken to in a rude way.

Desired outcome: I would like an apology.

Micro Center / Micro Electronics Refusal to honor warranty, guarantee, and promises to refund.

I bought an open box laptop from this company. I was careful to confirm that the 90 day warranty would be upheld, as there were scratches around the power port from the person who originally purchased the item.

The power port failed six weeks after purchase, and the company promised to fix or replace it. I went in, waited in line for over an hour, then was told that they would not be honoring the warranty.

I left a review describing this issue, and was contacted and promised a full refund. Then it turned into a gift card. Then it turned into a decision NOT to honor their promise to refund, or even provide a gift card- they went back to just not honoring the warranty at all.

This company wasted WEEKS of my time, and failed to honor any of their guarantees. They are not trying to keep customers, they are churning. This is made clear by the reviews on their Better Business Bureau listing- Micro Center routinely pulls this on customers. Not acceptable.

Desired outcome: Refund.

Micro Center / Micro Electronics Assurance insurance

Absolute fraud! I purchased the assurance insurance thinking if anything happened over the next two years I’d be covered. I brought my laptop in because an hdmi port wasn’t working EVERYTHING ELSE WAS FINE. The tech held it for over 8 weeks telling me it was a mother board issue. They replaced it but the laptop now blue screened and they claimed the mother board was faulty. I waited another 8 weeks and apparently “that mother board was faulty too”. They now claim they can’t get a mother board writhing a reasonable time period. They weren’t going to do any more “work” and refunded me my assurance insurance. This was not the outcome I wanted. Micro center: you are welcome for taking my money without interest, seizing my laptop for a total of 5 months and retiring it worse that I originally dropped it off. My laptop now only works when it’s plugged in. It holds no charge. The hdmi port was never fixed. Complete scam! Fraud! Don’t trust micro center with your devices.

Micro Center / Micro Electronics Over a week to process my credit card

Ordered Inland 1.75mm Natural Carbon Fiber 3D Printer Filament over a week ago. Never received an email stating I ordered it and the order says, "Outside the return window". Where it should say shipped, it says "Routed".

Talked to their customer service and T. Diep told me it took over a week to process my credit card. The same card that I always use for them. He also told me it will be in the next patch of shipments. He couldn't tell me when that will be, 1 day, 1 week or 1 month.

Not sure what's going on with Micro Center these days but ordering online is not worth it anymore. Looks like they are intentionally trying to push us to online stores like Amazon or Ebay.

Desired outcome: Ship my product!

Micro Center / Micro Electronics Motherboard

Bought a $300 motherboard that did not work. When I tried to return it the clerk tried to find any microscopic imperfections and wouldn't accept the return due to customer damage. 2 or 3 pins were bent which explains why it wouldn't work (I realized this at the store).

After some microscopy, a needle, and a steady hand, I was able to bend the couple of pins back to their original position and all was well.

Issue is that I will never trust MicroCenter again with my builds. I build PCs a few times a year and have spent a small fortune at MicroCenter. They would know if they looked up my purchases. This is how they treat their loyal customers? I will be taking my business elsewhere after this.

Please save yourself the trouble and avoid MicroCenter as they will do everything in their power to not honor their return policy. I will remind all my other techie friends that build PCs to avoid this place at all costs. Feels like a scam.

Desired outcome: Accept returns on minute details otherwise it feels like the company will do anything to not accept a return.

Micro Center / Micro Electronics Bought a motherboard it’s not working

I bought a 1200 motherboard from u and was told I cannot return it because they say there’s internal damage I only had the thing two days and brought it right to u to see what the issue is was told I did it I did nothing to this board and have a text proving your tecnition tried to bend some pins in place i put in a complaint to the better business Burow because I am well with in the return time and this is rediculous will be complaining to corporate as soon as I can get someone tomorrow ur shady

Micro Center / Micro Electronics Evga rtx 3090 ftw3 ultra/ refused return

Hi, my name is Everett Reamer, I have been a Micro Center customer since the early '90's. This particular video card series has obvious thermal, overheating, and throttling problems. I had already exchanged two of these video cards, I didn't want to return a third, so I bought an EKWB water block, and active back plate. I installed those, but to no avail, the video card was already bad. I returned the card to stock condition, and went to Micro Center to return it for a store credit, I didn't want another faulty card. I told them at Micro Center that I had put on the EKWB water block, but the card was already bad. They refused to accept the return because I had modified it, I told them it's not modified now, it's in stock condition, and I wouldn't have tried to add a water block if the card worked properly in the first place. With the store credit, I was going to put it towards an Asus Z690 Rog Extreme Glacier motherboard, and wait for the new Nvidia card to come out. I would like to continue to be a Micro Center customer, and had always been happy with them until now. All they would do is refund my three year extended warranty. Please keep me as a Micro Center customer, thanks.

Micro Center / Micro Electronics Customer support

I've contacted Micro Center multiple times and each time they said they would get someone to call me or escalate the issue. Every single time, I was left without any communication.

It's been over a week and they don't have a way for a customer to call in. They have no way to actually call a human being and you're left with a live chat without actual confirmation of what they say they're going to do.

Customer support is absolute garbage.

THEY JUST DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMER. IF YOU ARE CHEATED, OH WELL. IF A PRODUCT GOES UP IN PRICE MICRO CENTER REALLY STALLS SO YOU DON'T GET THE PRODUCT FROM YOUR EXTENDED WARRANTY. CALLED CORPORATE WHO SUCKS ALSO! THEY TRY TO BUY YOU OFF WITH A GIFT CERTIFICATE.

Micro Center / Micro Electronics Service dept. fried my motherboard

I have been a customer for over 12+ years. This past week has been interesting and frustrating to boot.

I brought in my Asus ROG laptop for upgrades, reinstall of Windows 10 and hard drive and ram upgrade on Aug. 30th of this year. Everything went well except one sales member in the "Build Your Own PC" department sold me the wrong parts for my laptop (ram and hard drive, which are pending refund to this day). The person responsible for installing the items in store, Eric, was honest enough to call and install the correct parts I needed for my device, as well as the Windows install.

I took the laptop home that week and ran everything perfectly as well as a systems info check to check Eric's work. Everything checked out. As a matter of fact, my laptop seemed new again! I installed all of my needed programs for school and ordered a battery online that the store did not have in stock, with the full intention of bringing my laptop back the following weekend to install the battery.

This weekend of Saturday the 4th, 2021, I brought my laptop in and spoke with a Quinn Conkley, and was told the laptop would take up to three days to install the battery. I was told by another tech that the install was near complete while I was in the store browsing. I had not received a call by the time I left the store so I decided to follow up, Sunday the 5th.

Around 1:30pm I called and an Ethan came to the phone and said that he finished the install, but that he ran into another issue. He didn't tell me exactly what the issue was, which was a concern, and said that it may be the ram or the motherboard. I told him that the ram is new and that they installed it last week. I knew the motherboard was fine because everything was in perfect working order when I brought it in. He stated he would call me back after he tested some things out. I waited until 4:30pm knowing the store would close at 6pm and still heard nothing. I called and got hung up on.

I decided to come into the store and talk in person. When I arrived I was informed that Ethan left at 5pm and that he wouldn't be back in for 2 days! The tech brought the laptop up and I asked him to plug it up to see if it was working and he did. The laptop looked as if it would turn on but the screen remained black. He said he apologized and took the laptop back into the room. And again informed me that Ethan would be back in two days.

Today, Sept. 6th, I went in to speak with the manager of the repair department and we discussed what happened. He said he will get it checked by another tech. After a few hours, he finds me in the store and confirmed that the motherboard was fried! I then stated that I want this resolved in a satisfactory manner because it was working perfectly and now it's inoperable due to his employee. He takes me to look at a new laptop and states to me he will speak with his general manager to see what they can do.

30 mins later he states that the manager can take half off of the laptop he showed me because "they don't know the state of the laptop when I brought it in". I declined, of course, instead and scheduled to speak with the GM on this matter this coming Wednesday.

So, now I'm out of a laptop that was working perfectly, except for the battery and feel like I'm getting setup for an upsell for commission. There were a few other issues involved with this store but my more pressing matter is my device which I need for school.

Micro Center / Micro Electronics Sales tactics and sales person

I went in to buy a computer graphics card. The woman would not let me buy a card without making a list of other components for a computer build, which I HAD to buy from MicroCenter. I already bought my other components elsewhere after shopping around for the best prices. Those prices were all better than MicroCenter. The computer graphics card at MicroCenter is priced well above MSRP (overpriced buy a few hundred dollars). So not only are they price gouging on the graphics cards, they are forcing you to buy other products from them, or they won't sell a graphics card to you. I believe this to be an illegal business practice. The salesperson was also rude and indifferent. I'm a long time customer of MicroCenter, but I will now avoid them for NewEgg and other computer stores. I wasted my time going there today, was treated poorly, and was not allowed to buy a product they had in stock, unless I bought other components under them. They were forcing me to make those purchases just to get the one item I need for my build. I'll take my money elsewhere.

Desired outcome: The desired outcome would have been me buying a graphics card for my computer build.

BTW, here are the components I already purchased and had delivered. I'm still waiting on my case and SSD. All the items I purchased elsewhere, because they were cheaper than MicroCenter. I can't finish my build without the graphics card, that MicroCenter would not let me buy, unless I bought all my components through them, at their higher prices. What a shoddy company. I guess I will buy my graphics card at NewEgg.

After contacting Corporate HQ, the local store Manager contacted me and resolved the issue. He set aside, and I was able to buy the graphics card I went in to buy earlier in the day. I was not pressured to buy anything else, and I paid the retail price.

Micro Center / Micro Electronics Nvidia 3000 series video cards

I just got back from microcenter today 1/01/20 after a 4 hour round trip from the madison heights store in Michigan. I've been a faithful loyal customer for over 15+ years and spent 100's of 100, 000's of dollars worth of product through the years. I am a reseller & licensed business/registered tax exempt as well. I've had several problems through the years with managers limiting on motherboards, cpu's video cards that I can buy to the point of straight up harassing me for example managers hiding between isles ducking in and out in the store to see what I'm buying to watching the cameras and calling to the front of the store (because they don't have the guts themself to face me) to tell the sales associate not to let me purchase anything. There's been literally dozens of instances through the years but today they were so far in the wrong and I"m plain fedup and tired of it. I came in the store today hoping they had the nvidia rtx 3000 series cards and they did from another sales associate they had"lots of them" I said cool since I know they will only sell me 1 of them I asked for the asus rtx 3090 $1800 dollar sale and they said sure. He proceeded to come back and tell me that where out of it I said what? Then one of the managers Rich came up to me and said your not buying any cards today, I said why? He said in the last 6-10 days you purchased a nvidia rtx 3090 already. I said ya and I'm getting another 1 that isn't the same one he said where not selling you any nvidia cards today. Then I said well I purchased 1 last month I figured I could buy another one since it's a new month and new year so I said then I'll take a different 3000 series card he said your not getting nothing as we have limited quantities and it doesn't matter if it was last month it hasn't been 30 days since your last purchase and your not getting one & was extremely rude about it to say the least. I said ok then which I know there singling me out again which is nothing new for me and just went togo pick up my web order for 3 cpus and motherboard combos. I ended up purchasing that possibly thinking there where going to call to web order and tell them I can't get them either but luckily they didn't, wow I feel like there going to throw me out of the store or something for nothing I did wrong. Now I was leaving there & the manager Rich (not sure last name new manager on a power trip & the one that made up his own policy in his head on the cards) was there and another manager burning a hole through me thinking I'm going to start something. I felt terribly uncomfortable and offended as I never ever gave a indication that I was going to do anything in over 15+ years of going in there as I felt like a common criminal in the store that just isn't right and never felt that way going into any other store only microcenter. I'm just going to have to call home office again and see if I can get some justice because this is so wrong for a customer that has spent so much money like me with them and no doubt there isn't very many in the US that have spent so much in there store and to treat me like this is totally unacceptable. Thank you for your understanding and I await your response to this matter.

Micro Center / Micro Electronics Customer service issue

Hello,
I am very disappointed with the treatment that my wife received when she tried to return defective merchandise, Video card, at Fairfax, VA store. The staff including the manager blamed the defect on us and resisted a totally legitimate return well within the return deadline. This is most probably the end of my longstanding relationship with Micro Center.

Micro Center / Micro Electronics macbook pro 081 - po - [protected]

I have bought a new MacBook Pro in 10/26/2019 from 3089 Nutley Street, Fairfax, VA | 22031.
It supposed to be 2019 system but I was not told it's 2016 not 2019. There is no information regarding the date in the laptop (About this Mac). I went there and complaint based on Consumer protection Act (The right to seek redressal against unfair trade practices or unscrupulous exploitation of consumers) including "Award of Compensation". But the manager said we only accept return or exchange it w/ a new one. I have lots of information and document save in the laptop, means impossible to lose them. I would appreciate you order to give me appropriate discount on this laptop which is MacBook 2016 NOT 2019.
I'm sure due to my long conflict with CORRUPT agents fbi due to my belief and political views (Twitter @GGreeneJr), the manager is under pressure by them since apparently this laptop despite my other previous laptops that destroyed by CORRUPT agents got successfully encrypted.

Micro Center / Micro Electronics macbook pro

I bought what I believed to be a new macbook pro in January of 2018. I am a 64 year old that is not as computer savvy as the younger generation so I had no idea until the other day that it was a 2015 machine. The way I found out was a friend I had not seen in a long time stopped by and I showed him the computer. He said he thought it was an older machine and knew how to check. Sure enough it shows that it is a 2015 computer. I felt like a fool and was furious that I was not told that I was buying a three year old machine. I feel this is fraud. I wish I had found out much sooner as it is now 8 months later.

Micro Center / Micro Electronics imac pro

Hi Micro Center:

I purchased an iMac Pro(open box) in Tustin, CA store on 07/11/18 4:55 PM.
Thanks for Micro Center supports this great chance to me.
There is an issue bother me feel uncomfortable, for typing
passwords logo in, I always need to choose users backward screen and
Click my name then I can type the passwords to a logo in a display. It still stuck on the screen. I have no more idea to deal with it, so I changed to a "Logitech" wireless keyboard instead of the original Apply keyboard. It makes me feel very uncomfortable! I would not go to the store to purchase it if the issue showed on the MicroCenter sale website. I took over two hours from my resident city drove to Tustin. Should Microcenter check the condition of the iMac pro, make sure it has no operation issues before to sale it? I feel I waste my time and money on it.

I tried to contact the store manager whose name is Cameron Brandon, but he didn't make any response to me. Every customer wants to have a happy mood after paid the item; even the item has the issue. In this case, may I request the additional discount?

Micro Center / Micro Electronics laptop lcd screen replacement

Hi...I submitted my HP laptop for a LCD screen replacement at Micro Center Computer Repairs at their Duluth location. It was a working laptop with just the LCD screen damaged. I could still connect the laptop to my external monitor and work.

After a few days when I went to pick up the laptop from Micro Center, I asked the technician to turn on the laptop to verify that the screen displayed ok, but the laptop just won't stay on. So I was advised by the technician they would need to run a diagnostics and that would cost me an additional $40. I found it hard to believe that after replacing an LCD screen, Micro Center won't even check if the LCD screen replacement went ok. It is only when I pay for a diagnostic fee, then only they will verify ! With no other choice, I had to agree for the diagnostic fee. Now, after 2 days, they call me back to inform that the computer has a mother board failure and that they have asked HP for a quote ! And guess what - the quote from HP came back for a mother board replacement as $850 !

So a working laptop turned in just for LCD screen repair. Micro Center screws it up and now I have to pay an additional $850 ! Is this is how you conduct your business…a complete rip off. Honestly I do not know what to do, where to approach and whom to approach. If there were means, you can recover the data from the hard disk and go through logs to confirm that it indeed was a working laptop till the last minute before I made the trip to Micro Center … Also, what am surprised is even after a screen replacement, you don't even check if the replacement was done ok. You are already charging labor for the screen replacement !

I hope someone is reading this post and monitoring… Honestly need some answers.

Micro Center / Micro Electronics micro center employees are holding onto all vega 64 video cards and buying them to resell online

For the past month I have been trying to buy a Vega 64 video card from Microcenter. They tell me to check the website for availability, but despite checking it every day (hourly) for a whole month it is always out of stock. So I decided that I would start going into the store and asking. Every time I talk to a sales person, they say that they just sold out and to check the website for availability. For a month I have constantly been checking online and in store for this video card. Something shady is going on and I intend to get to the bottom of it.

Micro Center / Micro Electronics no proactivity/bad customer service

On 6/29 I brought my Laptop into the Duluth/Ga. Micro-Center for purchase of hard drive and installation. I turned My laptop over to Chris Taylor, as he preceded to back to log laptop into system, I heard a large crash, and Chris at that time said" Oh Sh*&T" I yelled out to Chris" I hope that's not my laptop" he assured me it wasn't but clearly if it wasn't mine it was somebody's laptop. I informed Chris immediately that If I get laptop home and something is wrong its going to be a issue.

On 7/3 I picked my laptop up from Micro Center and upon returning home I opened my laptop and the screen cover fell and shattered into pieces. I immediately called Micro Center and spoke with Greg Moore and he immediately resolved issue and ordered new screen, he even refunded the service fee. I thought issue was resolved. It's now 7/20, And I still Don't have my Laptop fixed, Spoke with Manager today at store and was told he reached out to his resource and will have part in store early next week. I do appreciate the part finally arriving into store but totally disappointed that it took 2 weeks for someone to be proactive and resolve issue before me becoming irate at how long this issue has gone on.

Micro Center / Micro Electronics acer xg270hu - won't let me purchase

I tried to purchase the Acer XG270HU monitor online, and also hoped to use the $50 student discount offered to me as a Palmer Student. However, after typing in my billing and shipping addresses, the site says:

"Your shopping cart has been cleared because we were unable to process the order. Please resubmit your order with another form of payment."

Any idea why this is? My billing information should have been correct.

Micro Center / Micro Electronics extremely unprofessional company!

I have purchased a memory module from this website www.microcenter.com and received the wrong one.
I contacted customer service and they said they'll resolve my issue as soon as possible and asked me to give them some time. One week later they contacted me and said that unfortunately there was nothing they could do and offered a discount on my next order.
They tried to be nice, but they did nothing to help me. I did not accept their discount offer and I will never order from Micro Center again.
