Michigan Bulb BUYER BEWARE!

BUYER BEWARE! I wish I read these reviews before ordering from Michigan Bulb. On May 15, 2022, I ordered pink pampas grass. Michigan Bulb charged my card when I placed the order, but then immediately sent an email telling me the item was out of stock. I asked for a refund. I used PayPal to pay for the purchase, so I also filed a dispute with them. I then escalated the dispute. I then get a response from Michigan Bulb (after I already ordered the plants from someone else) telling me that the out of stock email was sent in error and they would ship my order. I explained that I did not need the plants since I ordered from someone else due to MB being out of stock. Despite my response and continued request for a refund, MB shipped the order after the case was escalated with PayPal. I am still waiting on resolution from *** but wanted to warn others about their deceptive practices. I will never buy from them again.

This company needs to be investigated. Has my money for over 40 days and still haven't received my order. Numerous calls to customer service resulted in NO results, and it seems the calls are handled by somewhere in ***. How does this company even receive a rating of B+? Another indication of the competence of ComplaintsBoard.com.

I ordered Clematis Little Lemon starter pot on May 6th. I received it on June 10th from Michigan Bulb.It took them over 1 month to ship & when I received It, it was almost dead & it does not look like the photo (small plant) on website. I will not buy anything from them.

I want to warn everyone that this company charges in full plus the shipping costs at the time you order with absolutely no guarantee that the plant you ordered is in stock or will be in stock at the time of the initial shipping date estimate. They had all my money for 5 weeks for plants that they had no idea at customer service would be in stock before our first frost date. That is a bad policy: most reputable retailers will only charge when the merchandise ships out. Also, there is no first come first served status to be in line for that plant you want- rather, priority is given to people closer to the first frost date. The only good thing is they refunded *** promptly (1 day). I encourage everyone to use *** if you want to chance this vendor on the plant availability, as *** keeps your card # secret and *** has a purchase guarantee which I have used twice this year for other questionable internet purchases.

The bulbs were mush which were elephant ears everything else was dead. I will never order from here again. Called for reimbursement was told only credit merchandise only, I said I would never order from them again.

Horrific experience. Order hadnt arrived in over a month. Spent 2 weeks messaging with no response. Finally spoke with someone via live chat. All items were in stock. Was told I would be given expedited shipping. Took another 10 days to arrive with several items missing. Some not even on the invoice. Bulbs were extremely small. Not worth their cost. Poor communication and poor customer service. Barraged with emails daily, but never one concerning my order. Avoid !

They try to blame everybody but themselves They do not ship what they say they're shipping and do not advertise the truth. they lie! do not do business with this company. Waited five years for something to bloom and it wasn't even the right plant all they offered me was a $15 credit and a refund but why would I use a credit with a store that can't even correctly fulfill orders? The hand you off to people that don't even know what's going on amazingly ignorant.

Michigan Bulb I will never purchase anything from Michigan Bulb again

I will never purchase anything from Michigan Bulb again. I purchased various bulbs, and plants from them in August . None of the items grew. All of the items were completely dried out and dead on arrival. I was issued three credits, totaling $102.76. In August , I used $43.96 of my credit to make a purchase - this left a credit of $58.80. In September, I called and spoke with a gentleman and together we ordered some bulbs and this used up $55.68, this included tax and shipping. I still have a credit for $3.20. I told this gentleman that the company could keep this credit, which left a zero balance on my account. Today, October 19, I received a statement from Michigan Bulb in the amount of $3.26. After spending a half hour on the phone with them, they still say I owe the money. I requested to speak with a supervisor, but the guy said no supervisor was there and that one would call me. I am still waiting.

Absolutely horrible. Received all dead rotten mushy bulbs. Tried to live chat wouldn't work. Called on the phone the response was call back after 60 days plant them they'll grow that's how they should look. I've planted cannas and bulbs for years I know they shouldn't be soft, rotten & mushy. I'll call back in 30 days but that $45 is gone they need to be put out of business.

I ordered several hosts and toad lilies, they arrived quickly. The issue I have is that one of the hostas (White Feather) arrived in bone dry peat moss. I hope it survives.

Ordered from them in January. The items were to be shipped in March. After not receiving them I contacted the company and they said I would now recover them by end of April. It is May 25th and I still have not received a single item but of course they charged me and took my money they day I ordered in January. Absolutely ridiculous.

I ordered dry root hellebore bulbs, at about $10 each for four of them. Each one could fit in a tablespoon! Each bulb consisted of a clump of fuzzy brown matter the size of an acorn, with several shoots of something that had been cut off between 1/4 to 1/2 long. I cant tell if the shoots are roots or stems, nor which end is up to plant them. What a rip off! I called Michigan Bulb to speak with a plant specialist about how to plant them, and was referred to a local agricultural extension office here in TN who knew nothing about hellebores. I will never order from Michigan Bulb again.

Michigan Bulb took my $725 payment for 100+ items and I received an incomplete first shipment missing over 20 items 5 weeks later. I was lied to on May 2 when I called customer service to complain of non-shipment. I was told that all but 5 items would be Rush Shipped the next day and the remaining items sent by the end of the week. This never happened; instead I received six small boxes over more than 4 weeks, and 35 items were never sent. The items I did receive were improperly package and completely dried and in dead condition. When I emailed customer service, I was ignored for over a week and 4 more emails. CS finally responded on 6/3 and offered only a store credit for $177, which didn't include sales tax or shipping, on just 6 of the 35 items that I did not receive. I think I deserve a full credit back to my credit card for the $725 I spent Why on earth would I want to use a credit on inferior products that arrive 8 weeks late or not at all? Michigan Bulb is an absolutely horrible company.

Up until thisnorder thongs had been okay I placed 2 orders both stayed it would ship in 2 to3 weeks ..so that was okay well here I am a month later and was told they would be shipped in the next 7 to 10 days ..which again would have been okay if I had gotten an updated delivery email..but I did not get this ..not to mention they charged my card the day I ordered them Soo now they have the money ..and seem to be in no hurry to send the plants ..sad to say but once this is resolved I will order nothing from Michigan bulb again..I spend to much each year..to be lied to or jerked around ..soo enjoy the 200plus dollars I spent this time.because it won't happen again

Awful! I ordered $200 worth of plants over a month ago and have NOTHING! They keep saying "it's our busy season"...but nothing is shipped out yet, but says they have it in stock. I will NEVER buy from them again.

Michigan Bulb This company use to be great but there parent company has ruined them

This company use to be great but there parent company has ruined them. The selection is nothing like it use to be, they do that so you have to order from their "sister companies". There are 12-15 "sister companies" btw. The items are never really in stock, I guess they order them when someone places an order for them. That's why the shipping date changes so many times. If they have a bad crop they just keep pushing the shipping date. IF they had the items on hand like they use to you would place a order and it was shipped with in two days and at your house a few days later. Not anymore, three shipping date changes but never a word from them. And watch out using the free shipping codes, these companies like to use *** ground/smart post. So shipping can be unto 10 business days once they receive your shipment. So that's almost two weeks of your items sitting in a box rotting. There are lots of better companies to order with, just make sure they are not under the same umbrella as Michigan Bulb Co.

I placed an order for a rose bush which I received in the fall of 2021. It was pathetic. So small it didn't even qualify as a twig. I contacted an agent at MB and they assured me it would flourish, and said that if it did not they would replace it. Well of course it died. It stayed green until after winter but you needed a magnifying glass to find it. In the spring it just turned brown. So I contacted MB and they said they couldn't send another until fall. Well, I wasn't going thru that again, so I got some credit from them and ordered geraniums. They arrived bare root which I anticipated but the roots were so dry they were brittle. Then I contacted MB again and they replaced them with another pair of dry, dead bare root geraniums. How embarrassing for THEM, to keep sending these defective plants to me. I demanded a refund. I have yet to receive that and it's been weeks. I should also mention that I really wanted a rose bush so I ordered the same variety from *** for half the price. It's 10 times more robust that the one I got from Michigan Bulb and it's thriving!

Michigan Bulb I wish I could give zero stars

I wish I could give zero stars. Buyer beware! I placed an order for plant and plant food pills in July. The food pills showed in stock and I assumed they would be shipped immediately and the plants were suppose to ship on September 10th. The ship date kept getting pushed back everyday (said they were waiting for weather to be right) then all of a sudden in October it now changed to backordered, even though they took my money in July and said they had plants ready just waiting for it to not be so hot. Finally after several phone calls and many many chats and emails they said they would at least ship my plant power pills. That was 2 weeks ago and of course I still have not received those. Now this week I suddenly get a refund for plants (but not the pills and told my order was cancelled due to out of stock product that I ordered 3 months ago and was told was in stock. Do NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, ENERGY or MONEY on this Company! I have warned everyone I know and shared on social media too. Please listen to all the reviews from REAL customers! There is a reason they have a one star rating on here.

Michigan Bulb Was told last week my order would ship today

Was told last week my order would ship today... Check online yesterday. Showed no order... Called today... After talking to 3 "people" from India... was told y order would not ship until the 3rd of May. I finally got to talk to a live American on "live chat". Asked what happened to my order and shipping date..? Said it has been changed to the 19th of April thru the 3rd of May... She couldn't answer the question... Said would take 3 to 7 business days to get my money back thru ***... I told her it didn't take that long for them to take my money... Said they had the product in stock but would still take additional days to process. The rep I talked to last week said it would be shipped today... Well... this is the last time I order from this "American" company... All they had to do was be honest with a customer and not lie about being in stock and shipping... I understand problems happen... BUT, be honest and tell customers the truth... I could not get any clear answers for my questions... I don't usually leave bad review because of the circumstances... But, was lied to and couldn't get the truth from even the American side...

Michigan Bulb Average plants

Average plants. Poor shipping times. Customer service is absolutely horrible! I purchased a package of 25 Yew Globe Brown Hedge plants. They were ordered in August but were not delivered until the middle of October. The planting instructions said to water every one or two days for 4-6 weeks. I immediately contacted them to ask about the watering and cold weather. I told them I would not be able to keep them watered once everything froze up. They assured me that any plants that did not survive would be replaced under the guarantee. 5 of the plants did not survive and when I asked about replacements they said they would not be available until fall. I explained the concern about planting and care in the fall / winter but was told that's when they could be replaced. Their web site shows that the same plants are available for immediate shipping under a different SKU. I called them to see if they would send 5 replacements under the different SKU and they said they can't, it has to wait until fall. They would only refund the cost of the 1/5th of the original cost. Can't find replacements anywhere for that price and they refuse to replace the the actual plants.
UPDATE:
the company has been responsive to my concerns and have responded in a mutually agreeable manner

Company sells and takes money for products they don't have. Made a purchase in Februrary 2022 for 3 different types of Clematis. Shipping estimate was for early May. Then a week later. Then another week later. It is now estimated to be 2 months to ship after projected, with an "estimate" of June 24th. Each week, it slips back more weeks, so it is clear they simply don't have what I paid for. A "backlogged order" that popped up at one point, indicating that my order I placed on February 10th was clearly oversold. Bottom line is that they market and sell plants this year, but then don't have them in stock or fill other orders ahead, because they already have collected money for some orders and count on people being patient. A late June shipping for my order would die. Assuming they don't push it out to 2023. It is far too late in my area to plant this order and thus I spent money with Michigan, which they then held for 5 months (to date) for a product order they can't fill. Taking money for plants they don't have is essentially lying to the customer. This company lacks ethics and standards that should be expected of any company. Have the product you sell and meet a deadline that is reasonable where plants can go into the ground and survive. Canceled my order and not sure when they'll refund, but they have a lot of work to do to restore customer confidence.

I was putting together an order from Michigan Bulb, since their photos look so very appealing, and they were having a "BIG SALE". They had a further promotion by which if you bought $40, you would get $20 off. I had $42 of bulbs that we had decided to order, so sure enough, the $20 comes off. Even though they were charging $15 for shipping, I thought it was a good deal, at a net price of $37. Then a new promotion comes on the screen... "Buy $8 more and get free shipping". We go searching on their web site and find two other packages of bulbs that seem like a good deal, so we added them to our order. A total of $25 more in product. And the price quickly changes from $37 to $67. This is because when you get the $15 in free shipping, you lose the $20 discount on a $40 purchase! Makes no sense whatsoever! Add $8 to save $15 in shipping... Add $25, to qualify for free shipping, and pay $30 more. The worst part of all this is that on every page of their site they display the inviting promo "Any questions, just reach out to our friendly and effective customer service people." (or something to that effect) I wrote an e-mail to complain, and got an immediate auto-reply saying that their friendly customer service reps would be getting back to me in a day, or two at the most. Three and a half days later, and having still received no reply, I wrote to them again. Three days later, I have still not received any reply to my first e-mail. And worse, still no reply from my original e-mail after six days! STAY AWAY FROM MICHIGAN BULB! Their only thoughts about us as customers are how to get our money in their pockets, for as little effort as they can put forth. They are simply awful!

If I could give lower then a one-star review I would. I WOULD NOT recommend this company to anyone, in fact, I would dissuade anyone from buying anything from this company. They have slow customer service responses and terrible shipping practices. I placed an order towards the end of March (21 March) with estimated delivery for the end of the month expecting the delivery to be delayed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. When I checked the status of my order in early April, I saw that my order was still pending, though my payment had been promptly processed. After digging through their website, I found where I could see the new estimated delivery date, which was now pushed to the middle of April. I checked again in mid-April and the delivery date was once more pushed to the end of April. When I was finally able to get through to a customer service rep, who was at least pleasant, I was informed that due to the pandemic the warehouse was behind but working to get shipments out as quickly as possible. I was irritated by this but understood. Today, I checked again to see the estimated shipping status, and you guessed it, the estimated shipping date has been pushed this time to mid-May, with a part of my order now being listed as being on backorder. I ended up canceling the order because of the delivery date and the last customer service agent being dismissive of my frustration and seeming to not care about the shipping issues. The lack of communication regarding the changes in the estimated shipping dates is unacceptable. Mind you I continue to get emails from this company advertising their current promotions and sales. If you cannot get ordered items out in a timely manner, why keep sending promotions? Don't waste your time with this company.

As many others have said, I would give them ZERO stars if I could . Avoid this company at all costs. I ordered 3 butterfly bushes on July 16,2020, to be planted in the fall and along with some power pills for plants that were $5.09 cents. I have received numerous email ads from Michigan Bulb since my July 16 order but no information on the 3 butterfly bushes that I ordered that said would be shipped when it was time to plant in the fall in our climate zone. This week I received the power pills that cost $5.09 and was charged $12.95 SHIPPING for the power pills package that was only 4x8 inches! On the invoice inside with the power pills dated October 15 it says Butterfly Bushes Out of Stock. Again I ordered these July 16th,2020, NO phone call , NO email correspondence , NO mail correspondence just a bill in with the power pills delivered on October 20,2020 saying that they could not fulfill the order for the 3 butterfly bushes ordered in July ! . So many other great garden companies that will fulfill your order quickly avoid Michigan Bulb! When I called Customer Service the customer service agent was in INDIA not Lawrenceburg, Indiana ! After having to call them and be on the phone 20 minutes after he checked with a supervisor , they did agree to refund my shipping $13,86 with taxes for the power pills that were sent alone without any bushes. Choose one of the other great garden companies NOT this one that does NOT correspond with customers for over 3 months when they cannot fulfill an order. I ordered all spring and summer plants and seeds from *** Gardens, and other reputable garden companies . I received healthy plants and great customer service from all of them not one problem until I chose to order from Michigan Bulb.
