Michaels Stores return of unwanted item

I'm an artist and literally, I leave hundreds of dollars @ this store the Store manager named "Skii" made me feel like I was an idiot in front of all the people in Line when I tried to return something I didn't like. She refused to give me store credit and when I asked for someone above her she refused to give me her number or name. She said I'm not allowed to talk to her. Awful customer service from a very unprofessional person. Should not be a manager she should unload boxes at the best... very dissatisfied and disappointed. Never coming back to this store again.

Michaels Stores customer service and management

I have been a Loyal Michael's customer for YEARS! I've NEVER had any issues until this year!
At the newer location in Conroe TX, my experience has been less than pleasant to say the least with your establishment.
I have had my share of working retail stores, as a floor employee along with management, I have spoken to many district managers whom are also personal friends.
Proper Customer Service Overall has been completely neglected within the past few years. Your Store at this particular location along with the Michael's off Hw 45 N really took the cake.
Location - S Loop 336:
I went Into Michael's for supplies, as I typically do twice a month for my small business.
I have always noticed a bunch of fallen and damaged flowers all over the floor, I asked if they are to be thrown out and if so, may I have them. I also inquired about the damaged flowers at the bottom of the canisters and if they too were to be thrown in the trash. They kindly allowed me to take what was to be thrown away.
Expecting a floor employee to get a broom to sweep underneath the floral displays or at least hand me a broom, they did not. I spent the last hour or so on my hands and knees trying to reach under and scoop damaged flowers. The amount of flowers, dust and trash under the displays and within the canisters would shock you. I found a decent amount which, would make sense if no one ever really cleaned up the floral department on a regular.
As I went to checkout, I saw who appeared to be the store manager, she did not look too happy with the bundle I had and was given permission for.
About two weeks later I went back In for supplies. Peaked at the floral department, picked up what was damaged on the floor (just a few) went to checkout with my materials. Again, asked about the flowers that I found, the young cashier said that the manager was unsure if I could take them due to a "Lady" that came in and searched for fallen flowers and she never purchased anything, that the manager didn't like it. I said "Oh really, well.. What if you print a label out and sell this handful to me for $1" again, she responded with "the manager said she isn't sure.. this lady took so much and you can't just do that"
Here's the deal... one, I felt humiliated for doing what I was given approval for! Two, these flowers are thrown to the TRASH! The flowers which are mainly made from polyester (carbon-intensive non-renewable recourse) which is NOT BIO- DEGRADABLE! In hand, effecting the eco-system.
With my own small business, I save and find a Use EVERY PIECE of MATERIAL! I do NOT throw away anything that can be repurposed (you know, Recycling!) knowing that certain materials are being thrown out from your establishment among many others is absolutely disgraceful!
This location along with the 45 N location, the employees and the two female managers were completely and utterly rude! I have given your store HUNDREDS TO THOUSANDS of dollars and the ONE time I did not make a purchase and gathered what I was allowed to, became a BIG DEAL!?
Your store manager(s) feel better and prefer Polyester flowers to be thrown in the TRASH? God forbid someone to repurpose them! Even when offered to PAY FOR THEM!
Which would actually save YOU money rather than losing it to the TRASH!
Second Complaint: Same Location S Loop
I went Into Michael's with my husband and three children.
I walked down the isle in the front making my way to the register, holding my 3 year old daughter on my hip. While looking at the cluttered displays a metal shelf hook snagged my daughters neck. The hook was obviously way too long for that display and it cut my daughter! She started screaming in pain, an employee was standing right there and did absolutely nothing! When i walked to the register, I mentioned what had happened and how the hook was too long, sticking out far enough into the isle and cut my daughters neck! Rather than being treated like a human being, your employees responded rather annoyed! I was Not given a single genuine apology and absolutely NO empathy for my daughter who has a disability! DISGUSTING!

I will NO LONGER support your store and I will be taking my business elsewhere!

Michaels Stores manager

Please do something about this manager at the Covington, Louisiana store named Wes. He is rude to his employees and customers! I feel horrible for the employees that work with him. I've personally witnessed bullying by him to a young girl that works there. I'm furious! The young cashier asked for help at the register because there was a long line. This manager must have told her something mean. I know this because her actions was embarrassment as she turned red, she said to me, I'm sorry for the wait mam. When Wes finally walked up, I purposely looked at his name tag, Thats how I knew his name, he was very unfriendly and acted like the customers were bothering him! This isn't the first time I've been through this there. You will lose business with him!

Michaels Stores night manager

Good evening, I'm a customer at Michaels in Covington, Louisiana. Tonight, June 22, 2019, around 8pm, I witnessed the manager that was on duty reprimand an employee in front of customers. I felt horrible for the poor girl. I'm a frequent customer and "Brooke" is a very sweet cashier. She did not deserve the reprimand in front of customers. This left me uncomfortable not wanting to shop there again. This manager, I think his name is Wes, is extremely unprofessional. Many times I've shopped at this Michaels, I've seen this manager with a very unfriendly attitude. I do hope something is done, he will cause customers not to shop there again. Thank you for your time.

Michaels Stores cashier and location

Shopping at Michaels is a special treat for me. Today I was gifted $100, so I came directly here. First, I went to the restroom. It was so filthy, the garbage cans overflowing, and you could see it had not been cleaned in at least a couple of days. I went on to get the 2 items I wanted (waterslide paper and a 1" hole puncher). I got to the register to pay and the cashier asked if I had something smaller because she was NOT going to be able to make change. I looked at her and asked, are you kidding me? She repmied with no, I can't. It broke me. I drove her over 10 miles, in a rush to finish a Fathers Day gift...and now I gotta go make change for you? She made me feel uncomfortable, and I cannot understand how a Michael store that us so busy as this SanLeandro, Ca store is...and have no money to make change. I do not believe it!

Michaels Stores shopping cart size

What a disappointing visit to your store today! I brought my one month old in her carrier into your store, ready to spend (quite a significant amount on) items for Father's Day, some family birthdays, and a bunch of picture frames. Her carseat could barely even fit into your tiny shopping cart (I literally had to wrestle it in.) There was not even an inch anywhere to put any purchases, and underneath the cart is open space. How totally uninclusive for a parent with a young infant - come on, this is 2019! I would imagine a notable amount of shoppers would need to bring their baby with them in such a carseat. Since I had made the effort to drive to the nearest location, and needed these items, I tried my best - in an extremely frustrating, embarrassing, and challenging experience - to steer the cart with one hand, and find items and carry them with my spare hand, until I had to give up, knowing this was ludicrous and ridiculous. Once I confirmed with a sales associate there are no typically-sized shopping carts in your store, I left and went back home. As I didn't want to send my husband to get his Father's Day gifts, nor the one local family member whose birthday gift I was also shopping for - and then have them deliver it to me! - and as I should have the right to shop with my newborn safely and comfortably, I decided to go to any competitor's store where they all have suitably sized shopping carts. Come on Michaels - you are a beautiful store - but this is beyond stupid and exclusive customer service!

I’m legitimately sorry this offended you, but also that this was your main take away as well. To be honest I believe it was my first time ever doing so, but policies that exclude or cause accessibility issues for customers certainly meet the appropriate (and my intended) definition of the term: “troublesome, annoying, and/or infuriating.”

No need to find another way in this scenario to insult women (not saying the shopping experience couldn’t happen to a male, however!)

Michaels Stores cashier/ customer service

Hi,
I shopped at your location in Rock Hill, SC on Saturday 04/24/19. My daughter and I went to the register and presented a coupon. After we had paid and were still in front of the cashier I requested a bag to divide our items. The cashier asked "why do u need a bag". Before I could respond she stated " it is against company policy for me to give you another bag". My daughter then reached in the bag we already had and stated " can you give me a bag for this?" ( She pulled out some of the items we already purchased so she could divide them) I then smiled and said "I guess I do get a bag". The cashier was about to hand me a large bag that was already open but stopped in midair to lick her finger to open another smaller bag stating " We are not allowed to provide a large bag for a small purchase. I stated "please dont give me the bag that you licked". The cashier then proceed to lick her fingers AGAIN and by that time I just walked out. I called back and spoke with a manager Mary Jo ( I think) who advised me that the above was not policy. I asked Mary what was her plan to rectify the situation and she stated she would talk to the ladies. I told Mary Jo that this paticular cashier is alway unfriendly and the other staff has never been a problem. I would appreciate it if someone would retrain the cashier and maybe educate her on friendliness.

Michaels Stores customer service

Today I went to Michaels to purchase a few things. When it's was my turn to cash out this cashier had no money in the register to give me change. She promptly told the manager about the problem and the manager said she was going to get the money. I waited about 20 minutes for the store manager. The cashier had to call her again. I think that was very unprofessional for a store manager to have a customer waiting so long.

Michaels Stores michaels hardcover sketchbooks

Hi

As a struggling artist I was so grateful I could buy the $5.00 sketchbooks. I see now the price is raised to $5.99!
I didn't buy as I now have a negative impression of Michaels. I'm sure others feel the same way. Maybe you should develop a recycling program for affordable sketchbooks. Or have customers donate paper or old sketchbooks especially grade school kids.

Give me a break it's a $0.99 raise not $5 price increase. Struggling artist buy a cheaper version of sketch book @ Dollar store or get a 2nd job! Artists aren't the only one struggling in the economy, there's Inflation and Michaels has a very good Return policy & turn-over of products, they need to make money. There's crazy sales @ Michaels US while Michaels Canada costs 2x more and we haven't complained.
Michaels is an Arts & Crafts store selling products for profits, how do you expect employees get paid?! Why don't you organize or raise awareness & do fundraising to help support Struggling Artists in your community? Nobody forced you to study Art, you choose your Profession it's time to sacrifice

Michaels Stores craftsmart yarn

Our crochet/knit church ministry purchased quite a bit of this yarn lately and on one skein within a row and a half of a 45" laprobe it had 4 knots which had to be cut out which waste a lot of yarn. We normally purchase Red Heart and Nicole but decided to give this brand a try.

Most brands have a couple of knots but I have never had this many knots in a couple number of rows so I thought I should pit in a complaint so that this could be looked in to.

Michaels Stores color-in gingerbread playhouse by creatology

I purchased THREE, Color-In Gingerbread Playhouses By Creatology™. They were Horrible, poorly constructed and flimsy products.

I bought 3 of these houses on Christmas day for my 3 young Grandchildren. It took 2 adults who struggled to put it together because of its large size but weak and flimsy cardboard. The instructions were poorly illustrated which caused a bit of confusion when putting together. A few of the flaps tore before it was even completely put together. I was embarrassed, on Christmas day, in front of all the inlaws, for giving the kids such cheaply made, horrible, poor gifts, that actually fell apart whithin two hours. What a waste of money on gifts that will cause me to forever be remembered as the Grandma who gave garbage gifts on Christmas 2018..

Im on a very tight budget but I splurged on these and I always trusted the Michael's brand. I couldn't be more disappointed. Please... Fix this..

Michaels Stores employee

I had gone into the Michaels Store in Lloydminster, Alberta, on December 27th, to buy a few canvases. The ones I wanted were high and asked for assistance to get them, which was all fine and good. It was the supervisor that assisted me as I have had dealings with her in the past regarding mistakes on my receipts etc... I bought 4 very large canvases that were on buy one get one, then I bought a few canvases that were value packs, which have no further discount. Then I purchased one small bottle of craft paint and 3 pieces of felt, in all my receipt was $140.00. I knew I couldn't uses the 50% coupon on anything but the small 2 oz craft paint but I used it anyway. All was good, left the store but on my way to my vehicles to load my purchases, a lady came up to me in the parking lot and said you should have heard what the clerks were saying about you, loud enough for the three of them to hear and the line up waiting to pay plus the customers at there tills, which my husband was one in the lineup. The clerk that served me said that was the crazy lady that always has coupons and doesn't know how to use them, they were laughing. Brandi (clerk), I do know how to use them, I am in that Store a lot and I get a lot of them, I probably could have given everyone in the line a 40% coupon, which I never even used one for myself. I was very humiliated and embarrassed, after I heard that from a stranger and then my husband came out and repeated it to me. I am so upset because one of the ladies she was talking to was the supervisor, who should have shut that talk down immediately, they had know I idea how many people I may have known in the lineup. I am a commission artist and jewelry maker, hence my frequent visited to Michaels because they are the only store around, I live about an hour away so it is not like I am there every day, maybe twice a month but not always. After I calmed down I went into the store and comforted Brandi, not making a scene which I really would have liked to, all I said I was going to report her and the supervisor to the manager, who was not in. As far as I am concerned they are both guilty and should know better, they are not kids and work in a public place with customers. This is not acceptable behaviour.

I am so hurt by what they have done and said about me I can't make myself use the canvases I bought. I have spent thousands of dollars there, if they don't value my money and me as a customer, I will have to start ordering online, there are other suppliers of art supplies maybe not as convienent.

If Michaels Store don't want me to use a coupon why do they send one everyday to my email account and give you one when you buy something. Policies for Michaels stores are not the same in different parts of Canada and not even close to the way they are used in the USA.

I have since found out that two of the three were supervisors, that is very shameful and unprofessional. I still have had no response from Management in regards to my complaint.

Michaels Stores potential seriously dangerous corp policy I was told while shopping

Attn:all district managers & above! Store #1044, I believe my receipt # is 2854757. I understand your policy at closing for the day is… you make no announcement to the shoppers that your store is closing! I held up the entire staff not realizing the store was close and worse yet the manager had no clue I was roaming around. This policy is extremely dangerous an out right stupid! To keep everyone safe and aware I highly recommend all stores to announce a closing time to the customers. You have left your self wide open for many scenarios that could absolutely perhaps cost someone their life. I don't want to be that person in harms way further omg think of your wonderful dedicated employees. I'm running out of space to give you any scenarios of possibilities by the stupidity and judgment call and your corporate office making a policy that any of your stores cannot announce it will be closing at…. I am so upset and have worked with the public my entire life and have never seen a more stupid policy in my entire life. I would definitely stop shopping with michael's if this policy does not change and you can be sure I will share this policy of yours. It's ridiculous. By the way your manager and are incredible patients plus suggestive sell you should respect and provide them with safety at all times. Feel free to contact me because I have a feeling this is going to go through nor do I think I can carbon copy this to the store so the manager can see that I follow through because I was put in a ridiculous situation. Michaels Stores retaliation performed by toni the replenishment mgr. @ the waterfront - homestead location.

I am a seasonal employee hired 10/10/2018 at the Michaels located in Homestead, Pa 15120. Toni is the Night time Truck/ Replenishment Mgr. I was offered a Management position there & I declined due to my immediate mgr. Toni & her negative remarks about the company. A few days ago my boss Toni told me that the store manager was lazy & if I take the promotion that I'd get "[censored]ted on at Michaels by the Store Mgr. just like the rest". I've been very uncomfortable at the store ever since. Toni also stated that she & our District Mgr. Jim are close friends. Toni also told me that she has already gotten 3 other Managers Fired! So naturally after doing my own investigation & research I declined the offer of the Customer Experience front end Manager feeling like this place is a dead end with no growth. Well Toni-
Replenishment Mgr. on Friday 11/30/2018 while I worked today she tried to make my entire work shift a living hell. Toni is mad at me for reporting her to the Store Mgr. so today Toni decided to retaliate against me by taking my assigned work away from me, raising her voice at me telling me to get back to the other side of the store while I was doing shipment. It was even more embarrassing when Toni kept indirectly complaining about me over the PA System about my mistakes using & singeling out my name twice. Then after Toni makes her announcements she slams down the phone so the entire store & customers can hear her attitude. Customers were complaining about that as well. Toni was also being rude & nasty by changing my work schedule 4 different times for 11/30/2018 to having me scheduled to a time never agreed to working later than what was promised on my date of hire. I want someone above Jim the District Mgr. to correct this issue with Toni acting unprofessional & stressing me out. I am still grieving from losing my Mother a few weeks ago. My Mother died my very first day of work at Michaels & all of this retaliation I'm experiencing is draining me mentally & can't take any more. I'm ready to get a lawyer & seek harassment, on the job stress issues with mgmt, grievance, retaliation on the job by a manager who states that she always gets other Managers fired. This just makes me sick to my stomach. Now I have to go to bed at night knowing that my boss Toni has shenanigans planned & set up for me to ridicule & harass me. I follow polices & rules to conduct good job performance. Toni also announced that we should not use the RF guns because we should have memorized where shipment goes on the shelf. I don't understand how not to utilize the tools on the job to be more efficient. Please rectify this situation asap. Thank you very much.

Michaels Stores service

November 26, 2018 at the Roseville's location in Michigan off of gratify ave.
Went to the framing department to pick up online order. The manager came out with a mean look. My fiancé looked at his purchase and said it's not the right color. She huffed off to replace it. I made a comment that they didn't read the whole thing. She overheard me and chewed me out saying that I said they can't read. She replaced our order and I said that wasn't my intention as she was walking away she said well you did. You said we can't read. Then I got rude and told her to take a pill and that I got fired from a job that treated people that way. She made sure she [censored]ed that she had 200 orders. This woman is not manager material I'm telling everyone not to frequent that store location because of this.

Michaels Stores door crasher special

My boyfriend went into michaels store #3981 today for the door crasher special that ran from 1-3 only to be told by 3 individuals including the manager (as they looked into the flyer & didnt see it but the email I received & was told on Friday was today) that this was only a Saturday special. Once I got home I called the store & was told by Holly the manager for that shift that it was no problem & to come in tomorrow & get one of the added bonus gifts that they forgot to give & that it would be at the cash waiting. Since the store was still open I decided to go & get it instead of waiting till the next day so I wouldn't have to reexpldin what happened. Once I got there they called the manager who then went to look for the bonus item only to come back up & say they must have already given them all out. This would have been nice to know when I called instead of having to make an extra trip out only to be be told oops our mistake but nothing we can do. Truly disappointed with the customer satisfaction.

Michaels Stores sam store manager at store 1264

I was there today waiting in line, having had a great experience up to this piont. Standing near cashier one I heard a cashier yell from the last cashier stand(6). I can help someone one 6! I then saw the two women in front of me walk to six. As I went online to pull up my coupons, the cashier from 6 (Sam, store manager) came up to cashier one stand and in front of a full line of customers, leaned over the counter and yelled right in my face "ma'am cashier 6 is open!" I really couldn't believe it and was really embarrassed. I've never had a cashier treat me so rude. When I got to the cashier stand I said to her, "ma'am I'm really sorry I have pissed you off so much. I saw two women walk your way when you yelled the first time that you were open and thought they were going to you. I know this is a bad day for you but you really should think about a better way to speak to customers." She just spoke over me with a fake irritated voice and said "No ma'am I'm in GREAT MOOD." She never said she was sorry or that she didn't mean to be so harsh. When she was done checking me out I said "next time just simply say excuse me ma'am I can help you on six." She just looked at me snarky (still no apology) and screamed to the front of the line "I can help someone on 6." I would highly recommend some customer service training for you manager Sam at store # 1264 on Merritt Island Florida but in the mean time I will be shopping at Hobby Lobby.

Michaels Stores black friday circular

Went to the local Michaels yo pick up pre lit 7 ft tree and was told that they don't have I.T! Called multiple michaels to see if available was told no . No one knew what store carried I.T! Very very annoyed is this false advertisement? Can't order on line can't order through store it's a fake add? Said it's only for today very very mad customer here .

Michaels Stores debit credit machine down

I shopped for 45 minutes, to get up to counter to be told debit credit card machine is down. A note on the front door or an employee going around telling people that would be common courtesy. Instead I wasted 45 minutes. Will be shopping at Hobby Lobby only! I was purchasing over 200.00 dollars also! The cashiers weren't apologetic either. I used to shop at Michaels all the time!

Michaels Stores poor in store service

I called on November 12, 2018, to see if they had a particular item in the store. Another Michaels said that the Sherway store had 1 left. I didn't want to go over if it wasn't there. So I phoned. The lady who answered said she didn't have anyone on the floor. She had everyone on cash and she couldn't go and physically check for me. She was very pleasant and frustrated because of no floor staff. She asked me to call back after 1:00pm as there would be more staff then. I have no complaints about the lady who was on the phone with me.

I decided to go over and I found what I was looking for. When I went to check out, there were only 3 cashiers and a long line. The lady I had talked to was running all over the store trying to hold things together, which is hard when you have no floor staff. So there was only 1 manager and 3 cashiers in a big store located in an extremely busy location.

So what's the problem with hiring more floor staff. When this store was located in Dixie Mall, there was always plenty of staff and you could always find someone to help you.
