Metabolic Research Center - Service

I have been going to metabolic research center in Champaign, Illinois since June 2023 and up until this point I have had no problems and the customer service had been amazing. Over the last 2 months I have been taking the Lipo B12 injections and was able to give them to myself due to being a nurse and schedule conflicts. I showed up today to pick up my...

On 2/1/2023, I was diagnosed with an acute liver injury and hospitalized for 4 days. At the time of admission, they were trying to determine the cause of the liver injury by process of ruling out. I started taking the MRC diet supplements in Nov. 2022 and stoped taking them about a week before I was hospitalized. When I was discharged, My liver continue to...

Metabolic Research Center Metabolic Research Center The Villages Fl

Entered program 6 weeks ago. Was offered 3 different options and chose the least expensive which was over $700. Was told they give me all products up front I need for diet.

4 weeks later I ran out of one of 13 supplements. Told I could not just refill that product but it was in a bundle of 4 item. I ordered them and charged the by giving them my credit card they ran.

I was shocked at the additional 600 + add on cost.

Asked for a refund. They said they could not as HIPA laws prevented it. That was not truthful as all but one item were herbals and herbals are not covered by hipa

Cost is $100 per pound lost and they are very illusive with the truth about that. Also promise refunds which is blatantly not true.

Desired outcome: Refund due to lack of truthful information, deceptive practices and non disclosure of hidden costs.

Metabolic Research Center Not a research center

The first month (11/14/2022) I signed up and received many packages of MRC supplements and the semaglutide. My blood sugars were not tested ahead of time. There is no medical personnel available for consultation. I ended up passing out 3 times before discontinuing the semaglutide on my own as it was unsafe and the initial procedure was not explained well. I was not reimbursed for this product. I ended up calling the center for poison control because I was so sick I thought I had overdosed. But the amount of semaglutide I took was OK, I was having a low blood sugar reaction. I had to discontinue. Then I was told to try ADP peptides as they "don't have side effects" which I agreed to. This was on 2/9/2023. I took them for one month then 5 days before I was out, I ordered a 2nd month and was told I would receive it within 3-5 days. 14 days later my purchase did not arrive. I cancelled the order. the "counselor" helping me was rude and hung up on me shortly after I told her I'd like my money back. She said, "well I was going to give you an extra months worth" I said "how can I trust you when you've already told me it would be arrive the "next day" 3 times now. The ADP peptides according to studies on the internet take approx. 3 months before they begin to "show an effect" this was not told to me before hand either. Suffice if to say I lost approx. 10 pounds in the course of 5 months and a total of $1400 since 11/14/2022. I wasn't able to digest the "protein" and could not have a bowel movement for several days. I was not able to maintain the 800 - 1000 calorie diet they put me on. A waste of time and money. I was told I would be receiving a refund for the last ADP purchase on 3/15 but it would take 7-10 days. I asked to have manager's name and number and was told "I tell her to call you" . That was today 3/28/2023.

Desired outcome: reimbursement of semaglutide and last order of ADP peptides.

Metabolic Research Center Scammed

I signed up for this program 5/11/22. Very sweet chatty woman who made me feel comfortable. I have no clue what these supplements are, but I took them, Paying $923.57. I went back in a few days to pick up the “prescription” and get B12 shot, given a diet of 800 calories a day, only raw vegetables and protein. I complained I felt like I was left hanging with no directions, and manager said no charge for the second round. Paid $88.99 for soups and powder 5/26/22, paid $60 for drinks and powders 6/7/22. Every time I went they were handling several people at one time, received no real explanation to any question, and certainly no counselling. Complained I could not live on raw vegetables and meat, no fruit, and 800 calories a, no answers. Went back 6/14/22, very busy with people, never told me I was signing up a second round that was supposed to be free. Got home, looked at the receipt, realized I had just paid another $802.97.

They have deleted my text where I complained no one told me I was signing up for any second round that was supposed to be free. I did not get the second round items I paid for, and they won’t answer my text.

$1,875.53 from 5/11 to 7/14/22 is a SCAM.

Desired outcome: I could eat 800 calories a day and eat raw vegetables and a 4 Oz. Piece of chicken on my own, and lose weight. I want my money back.

Metabolic Research Center Gained weight, lost money

I had absolutely no intention of writing a review of this company until I spoke with my primary care doctor, who encouraged me to do so, in the hopes that maybe I could help one other person down the line. I have tried absolutely everything to lose weight over the course of my life and, as things are getting more web-based, I was happy to find a sort of local place I could go and actually have an actual human help me. I contacted the Lincoln, NE Metabolic Research Center and eventually got started. I paid the program fee (I think it was $398) happily because they GUARANTEED 3 lb loss per week and, if not, the program could continue without additional cost. (Which, now that I know how the program works, of course meant more cost, more supplements, etc.) I bought a ton of the protein drinks; I bought all their supplements; I followed directions to a T. Over the course of six weeks, I gained 18 lb. I was in contact with someone every week, sometimes two, three, four times a week with my concerns about the continued weight gain. One week, I dropped 2 lb and so, obviously, things were turning around, and should continue on. The amount of food I had to eat was repulsive. I could not stomach 16 oz fresh veggies, 1/2 cup fruit, 4 oz protein plus protein drinks without vomiting. So, they switched my plan up a bit, and nothing changed. The only "resolution" to my problem was to come in for some hormone testing. When I asked if I could just go through my doctor so insurance would cover it, of course, not a good idea, they won't check the right ones, and MRC's supplements are the purest of the pure and need to be purchased through them. After six weeks and almost 20 lb gained, I threw in the towel. I am a single mom working four jobs and did not have this money to throw away (Honestly lost count, but somewhere around $2,000 when all was said and done); I really thought maybe this would work for me. Please do your due diligence and don't assume that this will work simply because they promise it will.

Desired outcome: Boy, I'd love to be refunded, but at this point, I hope someone else won't make the same mistake I did. I wish I'd found this website prior to diving in.

Metabolic Research Center Their Weightloss program

In October, I went to MRC west Omaha. I was given the sales pitch. I wasn't given an option to think about the decision- i was told I had to sign then and there. It should've been a red flag but I was inundated with information and didn't realize I wouldn't have an opportunity to voice any concerns or get a refund. I purchased the 17 week plan along with a metabolic panel. I still wasn't given the information on the plan or types of food that would be used or supplements used. During the pitch, i was bullied into purchasing the plan as it was a one- time offer. They used my desperation and shame into making me feel obligated to purchase this "program" from them that I had no idea what it entailed. just that they guaranteed the weight loss as long as i followed the plan. I took the metabolic panel I purchased home and took the test and sent it off per the instructions. It wasn't until past the "cancellation" time frame that they had me come in to some one hour "class" where they pitched supplements that were required on the plan. They said that in order to do the plan I HAD to use their product and buy their supplements. I still hadn't started the real eating program but by that point it was past the point of no return. So I purchased the required product from them. I am not disputing said product purchased at the "class". They are being dishonest by saying that I am. I purchased those products with cash and another credit card, NOT the one I am disputing. Two days into the "program" I got incredibly ill from their protein drinks - which are - AGAIN REQUIRED -on the plan. So I called and told them I couldn't do it because it made me ill. No one cares. My coach said to wait until i came in for my "session" to talk to her. I went In to talk to my coach who did not at all care that I had an extreme adverse reaction (i almost fainted once and actually fainted another time. I had kidney pain and migraines, which I never get.). She did not provide me with any information and wanted to know if I was following the plan. She weighed me. It took FIFTEEN MINUTES of my time. So you're trying to tell me that I paid $300 for a "class" where they sold me supplements and a FIFTEEN MINUTE SESSION CONSTITUTES SERVICE RENDERED? NO, THIS IS FRAUD. THEFT. Plain and simple. What they did does not at all constitute what they promised in their "contract". It doesn't. Furthermore, I never received my metabolic panel results from them - which I DID PAY FOR. Again- more service I paid for I didn't receive.

I was bullied and coerced into purchasing this program just to find out what it entailed. Yet I wasn't given the opportunity to voice my concerns nor was I given any opportunity to make it right. I contacted them several times- these people only wanted more money from me. They didn't care that their program was physically hurting someone! What they are doing is morally wrong and all I want is compensation for the money they stole from me for service they DID NOT PROVIDE. The receipts they provided in my dispute were not all from the charges I am disputing. Heck, take the $174 off of the charge for the supplements listed and refund me the $300 plus the $149. I am asking this to be fair. It wouldn't even be an issue if they were professional and provided the services I paid for. I tried to talk to them about options but I was shut down. In her letter to my credit card company she tries to say I was "happy". I never once met this lady who wrote the said letter and she does not know what goes on at that center. They violates the contract by not providing services I paid for and for putting my HEALTH AND LIFE AT RISK.

Is fighting to keep your measly $600 worth the reputation ruin? I will make it my mission to let my story be known far and wide and gather other victims of this fraudulent company. They prey on people trying to better themselves. It's disgusting. All I want is a outcome to this mess and more people to be aware that this company doesn't care about their clients. If they did, they would've kept their end of the contract along with some kind of resolution.

Desired outcome: Refund of my metabolic panel of $149 and program refund of $298

Metabolic Research Center - Product and service

I began with MRC in June 2021. I was taking herbal products, protein drinks and vitamins through MRC. I was constantly being introduced to new items to assist with weight loss. In Aug I had labwork done to check my kidney functions before starting the HCG product, My kidney functions were abnormal so they (MRC coach, Nurse Practitioner and Office Manager...

Metabolic Research Center Horrendous experience

I started the program 04/07/2020 and ended on 05/02/2020. In less than a month I lost almost $900 to gain 30more lbs, severe depression, be ignored, called a liar, cheated, and not given any help or information other than for the supplements. Hitting the basic points of what happened, my instructor never knew what plan I was on. One week she would tell me to go without carbs for 6 months the very next week I was told to start carbs. She constantly switched my menu and asked me the same questions about my menu that she chose every week. She never told me about a nurse option, the online courses, virtual videos, or fb support group. Any information I learned was from co-workers who previously tried the program. I walked into that office at my last hope for help and told so. I walked out feeling so depressed I couldn't look at myself. She made me feel like it was me. She asked me to text her or call her, I did. The last message I told her where I was mentally bc I was gaining weight, she ignored me. She ignored my texts several times. When I complained she told me that I was lying. Even after I sent her the screenshots. She never emailed me receipts outside of the first purchase. I had to dig through my bank transactions to find I was cheated and never given a promised discount. Every visit she would ask me information about my coworkers, she would tell my coworkers about my progress. I'm sure i'm missing details. This all happened in less than a month. Now I can't find a corporate number to file a formal complaint. I went to my primary care doctor to run all the basic tests to see if it was my fault. Everything is completely well and in good health outside of the obesity. I am so distraught.

I had a discount that was sent to me from another state and need to lose weight, I called the lubbock office to see if they would honor it, since it was another state, the associate stated she would have to talk to a person higher then her since the markets were different. I told her that, that was ok and I understood, ( since that was why I was calling). I gave her my number and name and told her if i didnt answer for her to just leave me a message, it's been going on 2 weeks, still waiting for the return call.

Metabolic Research Center whole experience a scam

High pressure jto sign up, which i did. Wht they don;t tell you up front, nest time you come in you need supplements, proteins drinks. Those made me vomit and have diahrea for days. Went back to return unopen drinks package and was told i could not get a refund even thought they made me have horrible reaction.

You should be ashamed of underhand tactics and miss leading people and not being up front.

I know as i signed contract for the weight loss program i am liable for that even though it made me sick but you should refund the unopened packages of protein drinks.

Shame on you, you need to be investigated and shut down

The ingredients in most of their products are not healthy. Lots of soy protein and colors that are hard on the body. No wonder you purged it! They never return a product. They would loose tons of money if they did that. They can’t stand behind their products.

Metabolic Research Center false claims

I signed up for the program and specific I had a special diet. The representative stated they would be able to accommodate me with my special diet. I purchased the supplements and the drinks. I followed the program to the letter and instead of losing weight, I gained weight. I checked with my doctor and this high protein plan was causing weight gain . The representative stated it was my hormones. My doctor conducted a complete work up on me and recommended I get off the program and offered to write a letter to the company. I tried to get in contact with the corporate office and wasn't given corporates number. The local office in Texas contacted me instead. I requested the corporates number again and was denied a second time. I discontinued using their products and program and lost 7lbs. And requested a refund on March 7, 2018. It is March 21, 2018 and still no refund. Still would like the corporates number. Tomorrow I'll be contacting an attorney to get my refund back. This shows the lack of professionalism and disregard for their clients. Most companies provide a client with the corporate offices phone number. This is a sad state of affairs, at the time of service I paid in a timely manner and now I have to wait for my refund an unreasonable amount of time. I was told the check would be sent last Friday from Florida. I'm in Texas and it doesn't take that long to arrive. Will never recommend.

Just and FYI to all! The supplements they try so hard for you to buy do not work. There is no evidence that their claims work. They push you to buy these items because the weight loss consultants get paid commision. I have worked in the supplement industry and I can tell you that it probably cost the company around five dollars to make a bottle of their most expensive item. I would avoid this company. The main reason people lose weight is because they reduce you daily caloric intake.

I became a client about 6 months ago and I am doing very well on the system. My representative has been helpful but not pushy at all. I use a few of their products but not many and I have never been pressured to buy more. The weight loss is slow but steady.

The only suggestion I have for the company is to lose the dyes in their protein drinks. The dye is not needed. The products taste great and the dye is totally unnecessary. The mixed berry drink may have a pretty red color to it but I would much rather do without the Red 40 dye.

I have to disagree with you on that. I used to work for the company and did so for 6 years. I watched SO MANY people achieve their goals. Although I am no longer involved with the organization, I continue to take some of the supplements for the main reason, I can not find "like" products of the same quality. I noticed you are from Michigan, where there is not even a location. I don't know how you came to be involved, but am guessing you did not interact in the traditional way, with weekly visit's (1-2) times a week. This can be achieved remotely, but non the less, people who do not interact 1-2 times a week, consistently usually do not do as well. As far as what it cost to create supplements, well MRC never claimed to be a not for profit business. They do not receive grants or funds for operation other than profit, meaning, people have to be paid to create, warehouse, and work with in the centers. MRC makes their own supplements, rather than purchasing and re-labeling. I hate it you had a bad experience. I wish there truly was a magic pill that could give instant results, but we all know that there is not. I think the Super Iodine is the bomb digity ! I also take, MRC6, Cortitrim, Super Veggie, and their Garcinia Plus! And I buy it on line ( because I no longer work there) at www.metabolic.direct I am not sure what your goals were, but I do hope you found success.

Metabolic Research Center Misrepresentation

I read about a Black Friday special so I called the Springfield office. I was told it was a great deal, the best they had...17 weeks for $149.00. I gave them a credit card, as not to miss the special and went in within a few days to begin. They were very nice and I was impressed. They gave me a diet and it was very doable. I was so excited. They said I need to return within a few days for a class and to have my picture taken. When I went in for the class, there were 30 people in a tiny room and the instructor went so fast I was totally confused. It seemed in order to succeed, you had to purchase all these products and as a retired school teacher I just could not afford it. I purchased what they said I had to have and it was another $175.00. I cried all the way home. I was supposed to have my picture taken that evening they said the picture taking was interfering with their sales computer so I would have to drive an hour AGAIN to have my picture taken at a later date. I was so upset when I got home I decided to wait and calm down before calling them, which I did the next morning. I told them I could not afford this and asked if I returned all the products would they please refund my money. THERE IS NO REFUND. Also, I looked up their Facebook page and it clearly states the Black Friday special was half of what I was charged. I have paid over $300.00 but it appears I cannot afford to do what they say is necessary to do, if I am to succeed. Do I just lose the $300.00+ and consider it a lesson learned? So sad...so unprofessional...if it was above board, I believe they would have told me up front what the real cost would be and let me decide if I could do that or not. They make you sign up and pay first...before they will tell you what the program really is...and then you have already lost your money and cannot afford to do what they say is required. I decided to just forget the program and eat the all the money I had given them because I knew I could not do what they say is required and they were not honest about the actual cost of the program.

Metabolic Research Center Company as a whole

Really just a horrible company and "program" that disguises itself as helping people get healthy. From a customer perspective, they are over priced and require you to buy their products that are full of unhealthy ingredients. There is a ton of turn over in Lawrence and Topeka due to how poorly they treat their employees and I know for a fact they fired the best manager they ever had all because she was a victim of domestic violence and had to go to the hospital for her injuries. They fired her for missing work the day she was attacked... I can not support a place that treats their staff like that. Especially when she came in and was doing so much to improve the Topeka store. She was always the one there for us and actually cared about her customers I don't think she had ever even taken a sick day in the many months I was a client. I already felt it was high priced and my dr. Didn't agree with their product ingredients but when they did that to that poor sweet girl my friends and I vowed to never give that company another dime. Shame on them! Don't support this horrid company!

Metabolic Research Center Continuous buying

So I'm 6 weeks into my first experience withe MRC.. So withe that said, here is what I've come to find out. What HCG and the MRC experience is, is a controlled starvation diet. Controlled starvation is a way to describe, how the body will live off the fat, and not consume many calories. Any "diet"(MRC hates theat word) that restricts fruits and vegetables, has to be weighed and looked at differently and with a fine tooth comb. Upon my initial consult and sign up, HCG(inject-able and 2 30 day rounds) and a few supplements were $1, 013.00. This was enough to last me the first 30 days on supplements(drinks, corti-trim, vitamin, mineral). Now keep in mind, I don't care about the cost. It is what it is, and I signed up for it. I was also told by the LPN that did my physical review that 750 calories would not be enough to keep me from feeling badly. Then on my very next visit, a nice but uneducated person, said I should only be on 900 calories tops! Not a LPN, not a medical expert, but a office manager of a MRC, told me that my body only required 900 calories a day. Unreal, and unbelievable.
On about my 4th visit I ran into a woman at the office, that in no uncertain terms, was the definition of "###". Excuse my language please. To this day I refuse to weigh in with her. As I sat in this lady's office, I bought what she sold, and at the end said it was her job to get her clients to "support the office" by buying these items(this was after I mentioned I found a lot of their stuff online/gnc). Needless to say, it was the last time I bought anything @ MRC.
I'm still injecting thee HCG as well as eating thee right things. However I felt that I was emotionally unhappy and created some cheating within the program. I do have a 50 calorie diabetic vanilla yogurt(dairy is just about forbid on HCG), as well as one meal a week where the gloves come off. It keeps me happy, and it keeps me feeling in control.
Now with that said, they said I would lose about 60 lbs in 60 days. I'm not close to that. But that is because I choose to not be that way, not anyone @ MRC. I've lost 31lbs to date and I'm on day 48. If I lose only 36lbs in 60 days, then I'm OK with it. I might even do another round or two of HCG after thee mandatory 3 week break from injections. However I will not be buying any of the supplements, and I'll be going to my doctor to get a script for HCG and pay my co-pay of 20.00 for thee visit and 50.00 for the script.
Don't want to spend the money? Don't. Go to your doctor and tell him you want a 2 monthe supply of HCG. Then follow a 1000 calorie diet a day, and fill up on protein and you'll lose at least 1/2lb a day and save hundreds if not theousands of dollars.

I signed up for the HCG program and 6 week diet. This was a very expensive learning experience. The ladies were totally untrained, inexperienced, and rigid. They knew very little about nutrition and customer service. If I had a question their answers were always from "the script" and when I asked the manager to check out a problem with the home office she never got back to me. Yes, I did lose my desired weight but only because I resorted to an "app" which provided the logical calorie counting, exercise, and accountability. Shame on you Metabolic Research Center for advertising unrealistic results and preying on people who feel that they are in a helpless situation.

All I can say is that Metabolic Research Center in Panama City, Florida has a fantastic weight loss program and no, I don't work there. When I went thru MRC, it was a little expensive, but there were a lot of supplements that came with it. I lost 93lbs and I did take their supplements throughout, but they weren't forced on me to buy. I lost an average of 10-12 lbs/month and the only exercise I did was walking.. If people stick to their individual plan, they WILL lose weight. They have different plans for all folks, they consult with you each visit to see what's working and what isn't. They are very encouraging and they know what they're doing. All weight loss places charge for their services, and none are free. You just have to make the choice. I will always be an advocate for MRC because it worked for me, my husband, and a good friend of miine along with many, many others.

Metabolic Research Center Terrible Services & Products

The programs and services offered at this location are terrible. Not to mention the customer service. My husband and I have been treated terribly! I began the weight loss program in August, during the consultation I was promised 100% support and motivation from all staff. Week 1 I followed the preconditioning program to the letter. Went in for my first appointment the lady Veronica who took me in rudely said I didn't have an appointment and said I needed to reschedule and refused to do the appointment. I said this must have been a misunderstanding and is there someone else who can help me? After 45 minutes of waiting someone finally helped me. Week 1 second appointment was for the nutrition information class, I called prior to my appointment and asked if I could come in early as I had a family matter to attend to. The young lady Ally rudely said no if you can't come in for your appointment then you have to reschedule. I explained to her if I waited this would prolong my success and for a week and asked if there was anyway she could work something out. She put me on hold. At this point I was already at the center so I walked in to her speaking with the manager making accusations that I was being rude, and that I was yelling and swearing at her. I spoke up and so I most certainly was not and I do not appreciate you accusing me of such a thing. The manager took me in apologized for her behavior and assisted me. Week 2 1st visit, met with a young lady did not get her name weighed in gained weight, asked had all of my meal plans written in full detail young lady didn't even review it. She accused me of eating off program and repeatedly tore me to pieces. I stated to her that I did follow the program and showed her the meal plan, I also explained some of the things I was experiencing and she documented several negative comments in my file against my personality as well as her opinion of my lack of commitment to the program. Week 3 Met with Becca explained to her all the issues above, and that I wanted to quit the program. She pleaded with me to stay and give it another chance. I told her that they would have to earn my trust back and I would have to speak with my husband about it. At this point I was unable to decide as my husband was not happy with the treatment I was receiving. October 18, I received an email from Becca checking in with me, asking where I stand and if I had made my decision. October 20; I replied to Becca informing her that I still had not made up my mind, and that after the way I had been treated that I was having a very difficult time getting past all of that and after already spending so much money, I would need some sort of incentive to prove to me this would be worth it. October 22; Becca responded letting me know that the problems had been addressed and the other ladies would be happy to see me and that I would get all the support I need. October 23; 5:45pm went into the clinic, was greeted warmly. Veronica met with me, before even going over any weight loss or program details she stated that because I am such a sensitive person and I am always on the defensive and I am attacking her I should just schedule an appointment with Becca. I then read Becca's email to her that stated all the staff would be happy to support me and help. Veronica then told me that some programs are just not for everyone, and if that the case go get a second opinion. She then stood up and proceeded to walk out of the room. My husband was with me and spoke up and said that is not right she came in here for your help and you are not listening to anything she needs. Veronica then sat back down and again began to criticize my personality and character by accusing me of yelling and being defensive rather than assist with my weight loss. I continued to share what my struggles were and where I needed help, but she just kept telling me if you don't want to do the program then I don't know what to tell you. At this point we were very frustrated and we just left.

Metabolic Research Center Questionable Tactics

Snake Oil, Opportunist, or a Legitimate Weight Management Programme Having a Really Bad Week?

Arguments for everyone! This round's on me!

I didn't survive being left for dead under a truck to get screwed by Metabolic Research Center in Southlake, Texas.

Joining my dog's Hit By A Vehicle and Lived to Tell the Tale Club in November 2008, my energy levels spiraled downward. As luck would have it, this came right after being laid off from a well-paying career; So I had time to recover and literally 'walk it off'.

October 2012, I'm back in a well-paying career. Being a card carrying member in the Traumatic Brain Injury Club - which I have the lifetime membership thanks to Scott and the Ford Motor Company - hasn't ruined my reason and rationale. It did, however, drastically alter my intolerance for BS.

Unfortunately, my energy level and physical ability to flit through exercise programmes are uncompromising. With my hormones and thyroid proving to be joining the fight against me, I was clutching at any straw to see what would work to resolve my weight issue.

Because one of my best friends proved the Metabolic Research Center programme worked for her, and because she doesn't spend money on anything less than quality, when the opportunity presented itself, I went with it and became a client at MRC.

I didn't choose the cheap option, figuring if I'm going to do this, I'll do it right: take all the supplements I know I need that I'm not getting on my own.

FACT: Within a month I did feel better than I had in the previous 10 years.

What bothered me from the first weigh-in visit on, was I got on the scale, having just weighed myself at home on a scale I know is dead on with our family's doctors' scales, I had lost like 3 or 4 lbs. When I questioned it, the rep did not look me in the eye and just said I had lost the pounds. The conspiracy theorist in me suspected this is how they sucker people in to believe their programme is working. I said okay and shut up.

Within the next month, give or take, I decided to compare apples to apples. I got me a tape measure and measured myself exactly as MRC's reps measured me. I kept their numbers on a spread sheet and I kept my numbers on a spread sheet. I purchased a scale after researching reviews that scans almost all the percentages that MRC's Tanita scale scans. I noticed some of their numbers were …how in the world did they get that number when I got a significantly lower number? I suspected at the next measuring I would be conveniently down a few more inches WOO WOO WOO!... That scheduled measuring hasn't happened yet.

I played their silly little games of buying all their 'product' that my body responded to in positive ways - their HNS drinks - liquid and powder. I hate the term 'product'. That really says more about the programme in its entirety if you think about it. Product is a retail thing that translates to SELL! SELL! SELL! We got money to make off the suckers!
• Their pudding HNS tastes like… .
• I'm afraid to try the soups after another very animated friend made a face after trying the soup.
• The Very High Protein Shakes are pretty good when mixed with water and a little ice through the blender.
• The Mint Chocolate bars are good once you get past the thought of licking chalk.
• The Cinnamon bars are… you really have to want cinnamon and have no other options.
• I've only heard about the other bars so I can't comment on them. MRC can thank me later…

Only one of the reps I dealt with came across as genuine and concerned, trained monkey routines notwithstanding. The others were very limited in their ability to deal with customers on an interpersonal level that was uninspiring me to stay and spend more money - rather, thinking… hurry up already, I got nothing I'd rather do somewhere else…

Another bone of contention that I have is their blood pressure machines. Yes, I'm on blood pressure meds for a hormonal condition. My real doctor has confirmed my heart and cholesterol are fine. 50 mg of Atenolol and their machines show me at 150/90, give or take. BS. One of their reps had already admitted on several occasions that their machines don't work well - yet they are required to note the blood pressure numbers. And then I've also been told they haven't had problems with high readings on other people. What the hell!?!

I made damn sure from the start that me being on their programme was going to be a little different format than usual - due to my hit and run ordeal. Eating ounces of food every few hours, mixed with drinking protein every other few hours wasn't working for me - it was making me jittery and non-functional. In my line of work, the risk of being careless, missing details and making errors that could affect people's and companies' money runs a SIGNIFICANTLY high risk of biting me in the ### immediately and eventually -- ie, FIRED.

Let's also mention it makes me a threat on the road.

Within the first two months of being on MRC's programme, I cut out Dr Pepper (I'm an addict, admittedly) 100%. This alone, I should have lost at least 5 lbs. I didn't lose jack. No matter how well I behaved on their menu, or how bad I misbehaved, my weight never fluctuated more than a pound or two, most probably due to water retention or clothing (long trousers do weigh more than T-shirt material shorts).

I also made it clear that I wasn't going to follow their menu real close because my goal was to change my dietary habits so when I was not on the programme, there would be no transitional shock. I was NOT going to plan to cut out eating out or fast food; Simply changing what I eat and how often and how much. I was never a pig and restaurants are good at putting plenty in front of you to sucker you into feeling you got a lot for your money…. So splitting dishes or not ordering French fries became the norm for me.

MRC reps were all so adamant on consuming lots of water. Granted, it was summer and water is necessary. But 100 ounces a day no questions asked, just demanded, was a red flag. I was drinking around an average of 65 ounces a day but when my kidneys were starting to hurt and I was feeling sick, just from water, they were still gung ho and 'you can do it! I know you can!'… I wound down the programme and let my body tell me when to drink water and whatever else.

Here's where my experience takes a dark and twisted turn…

Metabolic Research Center's premise is weight is controlled by metabolism and hormones, the two main reasons I went to them because I know this is where I am all screwed up. Due to instructions turning out to be unclear and an intervening holiday so I wasn't able to get clarification, I was delayed in taking the hormone test. Part of it was my fault so I won't completely throw them under the bus. The extra month wait did nothing for my patience levels. I'm sure they were fine with my buying another month worth of supplements from them…

*** Hormone test proved I'm all messed up - confirmed by my real doctor's tests. ***

Following instruction on Metabolic Research Center's Natural Balance Cream (a bio-identical hormone cream) and taking it as directed, I had to stop 4 days into the 14 days on and 14 days off. I went into such a severe mental/hormonal tailspin that I was a complete psychotic basket case. If this is what normal female hormones do to normal and pregnant women, no wonder why men fear for their lives. That would also fuel the argument if the split tail is worth it, men aren't that smart, and why only the strong - or lucky - survive.

I'm better off living life with the hormones of a neutered poodle.

Unfortunately, the last two months have been catastrophic. Between bleeding like a stuck pig, exploding hormone lottery balls and suicidal tendencies, my schizoid dark side has been making surprise appearances.

Meanwhile, every rep at Metabolic Research Center, from day one, has been trying to instill the mantra that their supplements are all natural and blah blah blah. So is cow dung and Castor beans (where Ricin comes from).

October 12th…

One of my spies informed me there's a sign on the front door of the Metabolic Research Center office in Southlake, Texas that the office is now closed, and people were fired/let go whatever you want to call it - they were ousted. When I called the number for that location, I was re-directed to the McKinney office where I talked to the manager. Long story short, the Southlake office is having landlord issues - which may or may not be completely truthful, according to my multiple other sources.

I still have visits left I have already paid for but for now I can go to the McKinney location which I am told is only 20 minutes away, in the other direction. Yeah, 20 minutes in a space aged catapult. And I'll still be able to get that - there's that word again - product - mail ordered. Sorry. Homey don't play that.

I asked to just part ways and have the prorated balance refunded if they can't make good on it. Oooh, but they can - to locations on the other side of the planet and by mail. Due to the fact they've been emailing out to their list a bazillion times a day lately, I was figuring this was the last throws of death in trying to spark interest in their sales and being open fewer days a week to keep from closing their doors. I wonder how many people had taken advantage of their sales promotions within the last week to get this screw job done to them. Ironically, I had emailed them the night of the 10th to email me at a different email address (specifically, I made this request so I didn't get interrupted all day long by lame emails coming to my cell phone every couple of hours or more).

I can get a refund if I have a medical letter from my doctor requesting I come off the programme. NO PROBLEM. I can get one all day long. But I decided I'm not going to drag anyone else into this that I don't have to. My doctor didn't do anything wrong - he did me the favour of signing the recommendation letter for their programme for my insurance issues - which at the time - was a legitimate recommendation from my doctor.

The part that irks me the most in these feeble attempts of redirecting clients/customers is I have seen some of their other clientele. They're elderly and don't need to be on the road from the Southlake/Colleyville/further west area to go all the way out east to Plano and further to McKinney, all where people drive like speed freaks and almost collided with me the last 3 times I've driven in Plano. Some areas are not safe to be passing through for being ripped off on a weekly/monthly basis. Maybe they're in bed with the gas companies at $3.50 a gallon. Some of us won't buy Toll Tags and pay for the privilege of driving on already funded roads.

Is this really how a reputable company does damage control with a clientele that has spent who knows how many hundreds/thousands of dollars for their services? I'll speculate the fact they've gone broke and don't have the resources to return what's been paid to them.

There is NOTHING on their website http://www.emetabolic.com/locations/centers?st=TX to even warn their clients before they make the drive through the wonderful Southlake construction zones before they discover they've just wasted however much fuel and free time. Not even an email to tell us to go whiz up a rope.

Please call the number listed on the door [protected]) and determine for yourself if it sounds like they're making it up as they're going along.

For the $100ish bucks still in my MRC kitty, I figure it's worth more to me in turning this into a blood sport and calling it for what I see it as and posting my review here and with Fox 4 News.

Ya don't jack with a rabid dog if ya don't want to get bit.

Make it right and I will call off the dogs.

First of all Id like to say that anytime you start something new with an attitude like yours you are doomed to fail. It seems to me you never had any intentions to do what the program asked of you. It only works if you follow it. Reading into your long dramatic blow heart story it was very obvious that you did everything possible to not follow instructions. I have been with this program 2 months and have lost 26 lbs to date. One thing I learned is that if you want to go off and do your own thing do not waste your time and money on this program. It is designed to be a lifestyle change and is not for the weak minded. All in all it has been an expensive option, but it does work. My wife is also in this program and she is on her way to a rocking body.

Metabolic Research Center poor management

This is one of the most poorly ran business ever. If I could pay for this very expensive diet, weigh all my food, eat only what is on my diet drive 50 miles one way every week you would think they could be prepared. No, only 1 time almost 6 months have they had what I needed. The excuses are never good ones, if they even can give you an answer. I have asked for the manager to call me but I am not important enough. Make no mistake, I have lost weight because I have taken this diet much more seriously than they have. No, I will not pay to reup. The manager will not call you back to answer questions about ordering. They are completely unprofessional!

Sounds like another irate guy who places a high value on how important others make him feel. Sorry they didn't provide the services which you were just absolutely certain you deserved. Coping with disappointment can be difficult if you don't have the right tools and coping mechanisms. Mom meant well, I bet. Still, it has to be frustrating believing your opinion actually matters. Have you tried deep breathing (in through the nose, out through the mouth) and positive imagery? That's right, think of a happy place.

The truth usually lies in the gray areas. Those who believe their opinion takes everything into account sufficiently enough to go on the offensive are arrogant, pompous fools. Opinions are imperfect compasses, camping spots along the journey of life. Those who treat these camps as absolutes and start building castles forget in an instant all the times they've been wrong. This is the definition of an imbecile. American culture leads us to believe our opinions carry more weight than they do, completely ignoring the fact that most opinions are wrong. Nothing like an ignorant champion of his own limited point of view.

Be kind to one another. Most of us are struggling to do the best we can. Those who aren't don't congregate to job sites together so they can pull one over on the rest of humanity. Try practicing humility. It's not just a religious theme. Better to be a quiet student of perceived injustices than a loud, boisterous, and froward pain in the ###. Personally, I shut down when approached that way. You get head nods, superficial "Oh yes, absolutely!" comments, and an early determination you're not getting ### from me. Come talk as a human being sharing your concerns and asking (not expecting) if anything can be done, and I'll circle the globe for you. I like helping people.

So: Grow up, b villines. Man up as well. Leave the theatrics to teenage girls. If MRC's not working for you, switch gears. Better yet, switch to a different company. You give no space to the multitudes who have found success at MRC; it's clear you believed your experience was enough to disregard an entire business. I'd bet my firstborn child they're not too interested in putting up with you any longer as well. They get paid to listen to your ### and toss in a few fake "attentive gestures." Pray tell, what do you get?
