Memorial Hermann Health System - Doctor and some of the staff

On April 24th 2023- First of all my stay here initially voluntary, and turned involuntary after Dr. Akujobi tricked me with some verbiage to get me into a back room where I was awaited by staff which forcefully have me strip and confiscated all my belongings Having me back there for hours I wasn't even permitted to use the bathroom, one nurse brought me a cup and told me to just "whip it out were all adults here" To my surprise I was later taken against my will via police escort, as Memorial Herman made a damning and reckless assumption from when I went in to the ER. Literally pleading to get my stomach pumped due to ingesting something I did not mean to but I explicitly explained exactly what drug it was, which isn't fatal (it was a anti hair loss drug) My roomates at Houston behavioral health would each eventually assault me in my sleep every single night. I now have permanent damage done to my eyes from the voluntarily checked in patients at Houston Behavioral health which are now asking for 3,500 dollars from me, which I don't believe is fair given I was mistakenly presumed to having some sort of episode by Dr. Akujobi I now am struggling in so many ways as well from the drugs they forced me to take at houston behavioral health stemming from Dr. Akujobi's damning, and reckless assumption about me.

Desired outcome: I would like some explanation as this was technically medical malpractice. Also to pay for my nightmare of a stay at Houston Behavioral Health.

Memorial Hermann Health System - billing/customer service

Prior to my decision to have an MRI performed at MHH Katy in Aug 2018, the MHH Benefits Verification Department verified my benefits so I could decide whether I would have the procedure done. On three occasions before the procedure I was told by MHH that my benefits had been confirmed & that my responsibility would be $300. With that info, I went ahead with the MRI. Several weeks following the procedure, MHH Katy sent me an invoice for $1, 761.

Numerous, documented calls to MHH Katy for them to correct their error received the same response, "We did verify your benefits, and this is what your insurance says you owe." My insurance carrier has NO record of contact with MHH Katy verifying benefits. To to the contrary, when my insurance company called MHH Katy last month (nearly a year after the procedure), MHH told my provider "we didn't actually verify benefits, we just asked for an upfront payment." This is a complete contradiction to what I've been told by representatives & their managers at MHH over this past year. Knowing all calls are recorded, I requested the recording of the alleged call in which the MHH Benefits Verification Department claims to have verified my benefits so this matter could be settled. I was told MHH does not have access to the recorded calls. Since no call or email verification ever happened, they cannot provide proof of the confirmation. Yet, they are trying to hold me accountable for $1, 761, an amount that would have prevented the MRI procedure.

Unfortunately, all calls this past year have been a combination of poor communication at best, untruths about work performed & unacceptable customer service. If you're fortunate enough to get a live person on the line, your call will likely be dropped at another person or dept's extension, for it not to be returned. In the instances where I thought a manager would be able to see their inconsistencies, they too, gave the same rote line that must be typed on my file for others to read.

If your doctor refers you to MHH Katy I recommend you ask if there are options. If not, do not trust their benefits verification department. Get it in writing. Be prepared for them to make mistakes and be prepared to spend an absurd amount of time on the phone getting it resolved.

This has been a terrible experience and has still not been resolved.
