Meetup Payment collected

My name is Clive Curniffe.
(Clive's Badminton Social)

I have been trying to get to talk with someone in regards to being charged for something I have no control over. I have been running a badminton social club and i've signed up with meetup for about 5 years.

We are no longer running a badminton social because of coroner, the centre have been closed from since March. I complained about being charged by meetup since I am not able to run my classes. I have written a letter in July 2020 asking for suspension of my account until we are able to get back to playing badminton. If your not able to suspend my acount please cancel the account. I have not received any form of a reply and money have been taken out of my account in July and August I wish for the money taken from me to be put back into my account.
Can I get confirmation that you have received this email.

thanks
Clive

Meetup Cancellation of subscription - do not pay until current situation has been resolved

Hi, I asked meetup to make adjustment to my subscription payment since it is an outdoor events group that I took over this year. They declined and asked me to do online events (what?), so I decided to cancel, however it was difficult, on the iphone and web browser no option to cancel subscription (really), you have to send email to support. Even then they will not cancel but send you and offer with a discount on next renewal fee. What I did find (web search) is that the android app does allow you to cancel within the app very easily (I do have a spare android phone luckily). So cancelled using android platform, and stepped down as organizer using the pc web browser (because I wanted to delete grp), however it didn't allow me to delete group, that option appeared and vanished quickly (new owners). I would recommend to all of you to cancel your subscription on this platform with the current situation I feel this platform is not fit for purpose and management have not reached out to organizers with real world solutions they are only after your money, it is not going to spend any money on an new concepts and are definitely not interested in your well being.

Meetup Seo for swiss entrepreneurs [free workshop] with zürich seo meetups

I travelled over 2 hours to this MeetUp to find it to be nothing less than a live INFOMERICIAL by Ebrahim Mehrno.

There was NO disclosure about the purpose of this meeting... but DECEPTIVE description:

"Learn from an entrepreneur, not just an SEO specialist. This workshop is all about learning and implementing the best SEO practices in your business."

After I messaged Ebrahim about this... his only response was to UNJOIN me from his group.

I hope you will rectify this... and do a better job for your visitors who have good intent to learn.

Meetup Perth north of the river 50+ dinner group

Ms Helen James is the organiser of this dinner group.
She has scurrilously badmouthed me, inside the dinner group, despite numerous times being told to shut up, it is still ongoing.
Despite many complaints to meetup about her carry on, Meetup have refused to get involved, telling me, that what happens outside the group, is on no concern to them.
Yet, they do not acknowledge that she is badmouthing me inside the group, and, I have witnesses that will back me up.
This is totally unacceptable that she does this, and, continuous to get away with it, as Meetup remain inactive on this very serious complaint.
This woman should not be running a duck pond, as she viciously badmouths anyone, who she dislikes ( she has been banned form one dinner group, and one social club group, for her badmouthing dinner guests and club members)
She should not be allowed to run a dinner and coffee group, for people who are very vulnerable, and, insecure.

Meetup Subscription fee

Two years ago I took over a meet up group. When the organizer stepped down, I provided my credit card details as a new host of the group. However the meet up took money from both previous organizer's and my bank account. Now I stepped down organizer's position. Yes as you guess, the meet up continued receiving money from my account. I do not think this is a simple mistake . This is very deliberate strategy.

I am also being charged fees for a group I closed down. How do you contact these rat bags to stop them from taking fees and get a refund? There is no contact anywhere to get help. You just get this stupid robot that tells you how to deal with members of your group which is not what I need. This is a deliberate scam. The fact they have no contact makes it quite obvious what they are up to. How can there possibly be a company that receives funds from fees and then is basically non existent when it comes to suspicious activity. This whole institution is nothing short of a scam and needs to be exposed.

Meetup Can't find the info I need

New to Meetup, I created two groups but then, when I altered the contact email address, I couldn't see any of the messages I'd previously got. I thought there must be a separate account of mine to sign in to & find them again, so mistakenly deleted my profile. As things stand, I'm organiser of these two groups and now no-one can contact me, or I them!
I can find no clue anywhere on meetup.com as to how to deal with this.
Thanks.

Meetup South East QLD Kayak

The organizer Larry has not respect and is a bully deleting new members discussions with no fore warning or explination of due conduct or infringement.

He has no membership rules and just make it up as he goes along. Hindering contact of 600plus kayak members from a forum of communication and discussion that would benefit all mutual members.

This Meetup is a joke and does not serve any worthy cause.

Meetup Worst customer service in the world

Do not waste your money in this company. The concept is good but the service is bad. People join your group but in reality the website is very limited to communicate properly with your audience and it is even worst to get help from the Meetup Team.

It is very frustrating. They get your money then after that - goodbye. They don't need you anymore.

There tons of complaints all over the internet

Meetup Meetup.com

I recently started a new group but had questions regarding the lack of notifications that my group was being introduced to the public & lack of my planned events not listed under notifications as well

After numerous back & forth e-mails to meetup.com I was not satisfied with their bizarre explanations that they now have a new system & you don't see your own events?

Another meetup that I joined requested $13.50 in order to join & see their events.. Upon joining I saw that 1,400 people were members.. I questioned where $13.50 a pop for 1, 400 members was going?... The organizer said that not everyone paid & this was meetup new policy?... I immediately cancelled my membership & did get a refund

I am currently requesting a refund for establishing my new group... There is something very strange going on with either meetup.com.. New organizers or both...

Meetup Various complaints about my meetup situation

My name is Mijo Papas. I have founded and am the organizer of French in Ann Arbor since 2015. All of a sudden the site does not allow me to schedule events, nor to see my page as an organizer. I have written several times. I have tried to call but it is impossible. The friendly voice on the phone says that MeetUp solves problems faster with emails. I wish! I pay my organizer dues on time. I feel very frustrated and do not know what to do.

Meetup Group organizer

I organized a Meetup, and started to get folks joining the group. Every time I went to welcome a new member, I would get an error message indicating that I was not authorized to send messages to group members. I started getting messages for 'Joe'. My name is Dean. Somehow they got the wires crossed, and I was not able to organize meetings, reply to questions, or use any other organizer functions. I tried calling a customer service number that I found on the internet. It was a recording directing everyone to the website/email support. They do not answer emails directly, but instead send you a list of FAQs as answers. I had my credit card company reverse the charges and disbanded the group.

Meetup Meetup organizer

I had to post a cancellation notice of my Meetup through my member profile since I cannot access my Organizer profile even though I paid for 6 months on 1/18. I have made numerous attempts to contact support and billing - all I get is an automated response with links that are NOT helpful. No human answers the phone. Lack of a human response is contrary to the whole purpose of Meetup to interact with people. Maybe Meetup was impacted by the government shutdown ...Lol

Meetup Meetup condones stalking, harassment, defamation, assault abuse

Meetup in my experience does not assist anyone in particular women when it comes to stalking, harassment, defamation, assault, abuse. Once an event is reported they do nothing, literally nothing - and I believe its because of money and reputation and legal issues (ie. don't want to be involved in getting sued). They hide what is really happening to people in particular women. Try to report a simple defamation or stalking matter and the technicians don't even teach you how to block all members ie. you can select only receive messages from organizers. If you report anything remotely serious they ignore it and do not even respond so they cannot be held accountable. If the police get involved ie stalking then meetup has nothing to say and will not get involved. Meetup condones abuse. Meetup condones abuse particularly to women. BEWARE OF meetup.com The most scariest matter is that if someone is abusive toward you and basically attacking your character, making up lies etc. they can post your picture, business name (if you list it on your profile), your comments (ie. private messages to organizer/owner of that particular meetup group) and this IS ALL PUBLIC ie. on internet, on meetup, on group pages, on event pages - wherever the organizer chooses to do so.

Meetup Complaint about a meetup member sim

Hi,

I had two meet up groups and I don't want to keep it anymore. One was Delhi Classy Elite Club and the other one was Elite Travellers. I stepped down as an organizer and someone from my meet up member. Her or his name is Sim. I got a message this morning from the meet up member that she became the Co-organizer and she started putting events in my meet up group and location. Well I never gave her authority to do so. So I sent her a message on meet up she replied. She thinks I am threatening her but if she already has 40 groups in her meet up why was she interested to set up events in my meetup group. For free. I wouldn't tolerate this. If some one steps down as an organizer does not give an authority to anyone else who can take over and be the co-organizer. She should have asked my permission first. I will copy her and my messages. Well please solve this I am very annoyed. I have already deleted my two meet up groups. I will never pay again and be an organizer if a person being a member becomes a co-organizer without asking approval or anything.

Hi, You do not have the authority to be a co organizer and run my meet up group. I am not going to allow you to do this.. Please step out.. This is not your meet up group. It took me a while to get members. I am going to put a complain in meet up if you donot remove everything..

Sim 6:36 PM
If you have stepped down as an organizer, you have given the authority that anyone can step up as an organizer or a co-organizer and post their events. If you wish to run this group, please step up and take your group. I'll be more than happy to step down as a co-organizer but till that time, you have no right to threaten me for anything and by the way don't teach me the rules and regulations of Meetup. I know them better than you as I run more than 40 groups on Meetup.

Nan Su 6:47 PM
Oh please tell your bogus story to someone else.. Who will threaten you? First go and learn some manners.. I am not scared of your messages. Besides who will teach an Indian the rules and regulations because you never will follow it. You are so clever that you will sell others for that. Go in my ignore list Goodbye

You know what you are not worth to talk at all. Lol you have 40 groups on meet up and still you have an eye on my meet up group just because i stepped out. Go find someone else and tell him or her your story..

Meetup Racial discrimination

3rd April 2017 I was removed from a group Art and Culture by a co-organiser.
The group was organising an event that is scheduled for the 20 or 21 April and I wanted to particiapte. Due to some personal reason i was unable so I cancelled my request well in advance i.e. on 1 April that I will not be participating. On 3rd I get an email from the co-organiser that he has removed me because my behaviour was unprofessional.
I have never spoken, abused or behaved in a derogatory manner with any one. I did not even cancel at the end minute I canceled way in advance. This is a lame excuse for removing me.
I emailed the organiser and told him everything but he has not been active in replying. I am sure people cancel at the end minute also but this strong action against me is clear indication of racial discrimination.
I wish this matter to be taken seriously and an appropriate solution be reached soon. Matters like this should not be shoved in cold storage.

My experiences were different. In Cologne (Germany)an American model (unique L.)organized language meetings (Expats in Cologne). I went a few times but more and more her meetups became weird. Almost like a dating party. When I visited with my GF the whole group started to ignore us. One member tried to make a move at her. The biggest joke was that the organizer herself didn't turn up. Her co-organizer got very nasty after I put a bad review on their website. Blocking me and kick us out of the group. The joke was that this lady cheated on her BF on a regular basis. Nagging half drunk why one German member didn't want to take her home. The same lady calling me and my GF pointless and agressive. Wowwwwwwww

Meetup Meetup

I have used this meet up for 5 years off and on. Trying to promote my Womens Meditation Group. Everytime I put a new group on meet up I get weird people no pics, and that they are from another City. When I put the City in. They never come to the meet up I had 26 women one time emailed them all back to see if they were coming none did. Where do they get these people, its also expensive. They charge to much for no customer Service only by e mail and then they finally get the info and launch your group, you get people weird. Really true weird. I am planning on deleting my profile and groups very soon. I already deleted one today, had 26 women join 1 was coming to the group.

Meetup Poor content, terrible users and no customer service

Recently a lot of resist groups showed up on Meetup and that's terrible! I'm very disappointed with Meetup and that they allow things like that to happen. I tried to resolve the matter myself but Meetup moderators don't seem to care. I checked the reviews and it look like a lot of people are bother with that. Meetup was always not the best, but now they are probably the worst social network. Many people delete their accounts because Meetup became unethical and disrespectful. Poor content, terrible users and no customer service.

Meetup Unethical behavior

I deeply suspect that meetup is much more than an organization founded to generate meetings of like minded individuals. It was the vehicle that gave the Howard Dean political campaign its start. Since that time it has grown in size and complexity and some meetup groups have more than 500 members. Some groups can have as many as 1000 and 2000 members. People who attend meetups often pay a small fee to cover operational costs charged to organizers by the central office. This means that large sums of cash pass into the hands of the organizers, co-organizers, assistant organizers, associate organizers, and members responsible for money collection. I carefully documented the activities of a man who created multiple false identities and participated as some type of organizer, associate organizer, or assistant organizer for 70 or more meetups. An enormous amount of money passed through his hands. I requested an investigation of this organization by meetup management and I was told his activity was acceptable and violated no rules or regulations. I requested that police, FBI, or State Attorney General investigate the possibilities for fraud, money laundering, and channeling of funds to serve political interests or the interests of self-serving scammers that make a lucrative income from skimming funds. I was not taken seriously and nothing was done. Nothing will be done. I personally believe that meetup offers abundant opportunities for concentrating monies for political interest or self-serving fraud. The idea of this organization having its primary goal in makinging it possible for like minded people to connect for fun is a bit naive and short-sighted. Gregory Muller
