Medix College - Staff

Hello To whom it may concern. Just wanted to write up a complaint about Medix School at 700 Lawrence Ave. I am complaining about the staff there especially the dean named Kamil Haddad. Kamil Haddad is also our teacher at Medical Lab Tech Assistant course in 2nd semester. I notice that this school starting from our 1st semester everyone seems to be nice...

Medix College I am complaining about kamil haddad

Kamil Haddad is a very complicated man. And very discouraging teacher. He has no consideration for students at all and He only likes students who do well in his class. He doesn't care at all. I am not really sure if the people who works here really wants us to succeed in our academics because as far as I am concerned I think they only want our money.. When it comes to Kamil I don't know why rules and his grading system are changed. And I am not sure if He is aware of what is happening outside IT'S INFLATION! His times are different from our situation today and yet he makes things complicated . different and difficult.

Medix College Disorganization

The people are polite for the most part.

But the fact that there is so much inconsistency to the way information is delivered is incredibly frustrating.

You have to go out of your way way to learn something. And you are paying to essentially teach yourself and interpret the information you are given.

Outdated slides, only word-of-mouth updates, no written information about tests

It is sad and infuriating.

I hope someone sees this and does something.

Desired outcome: Do better, this is utterly ridiculous and not a set up for success.

Medix College Medical lab technician assistant

They promised me I could rewrite 3 exams before graduation. But they avoid me and don't contact me back, and graduation is on June 30, 2021. Please, what do I do, they are avoiding me. They have set up a meeting, but when that day and time come, they don't call or show up. Please, what do I do to rewrite so I could graduate. I have worked so hard and I pay out of my own pocket. They pick on me, I also filed a complaint about and I structure there who put their hands on me and left a bruise. She bullies me and now the director at the Brampton Campus, where I go to school, the lab director and my program director who is also my professor they all pick on me. I have proof that they do and pictures of the bruises. I just want to rewrite my exams so I can graduate and leave without a scene. The instructor who put her hands on me is not allowed to be near me, oh yes by the way she still works there. She teaches ECG because she is a female but because she can't be near me, they had a student teach me the next day was the exam and I failed. I am alone there and have become so depressed and sad. I have no authority on my side. I just want to graduate. I pay out of my own pocket, no loans or anything. This isn't right! Please, someone, help me. Please, this has made me become so depressed. Please help me.

Rachel-Joanne

Desired outcome: To rewrite my exams

My name is Gabriel Mebrahtu and I was a student of Medix College of the program Community Service Worker in 2016-17.I completed my courses but I never received my Diploma.I called many times in Lawrence Campus many times and the student liason never transfer me and blocked me not to speak to anyone in the management office.

When I was on placement for my program I end up doing... clean the dishes and greased Cassarol for 8 hours and I accumulated 300 hours with patience and was considered to be a placement.

So I told the office of Medix College to transfer me to another location or to change my program to pharmacy technician for free so that I will gain experience.I tried many times and no one seems to transfer me to speak to management in regard my placement other than blocked me not to talk to anyone..

now I am asking Medix College to tranfer me to another to do my placement the remaining 200 hour and get my Diploma.I can be reached at [protected]

Thank you for your considereation.

Medix College Unethical Behaviour

Honestly, we do not recommend Medix for anyone. All they do is taking your MONEY, not preparing your career as advertised everywhere, even subways.Thats why I highly recommeded to think twice if you want to build your career with Medix. When it comes for admission, everybody is there for you to make your registration. But when it comes to help a student nobody is there to help you. My wife has to take a break to school for 1 month because of her medical conditions ( even she has a MEDICAL REPORT), They wanted her to come after 9 (!) months of the medical report to figure out about her classes. She couldn't get any results after she went to the campus for more than 12 times in last 6 monts for returning to the college . Every single time, she has to wait at least 2-3 hours in front of the secretary barrier. She did not have a chance to speak with Invisible Miss Tabatha except one time. At that time, Tabatha evaded her and told to wait an email. Forget about to receive an email, she couldn't even reach to talk with her. This is MEDIX..

Medix College Lack of transparency

So I graduated from medix in 2007….my program cost 40k in total by the time I was done. Although the program itself was awful-mismanaged, went thru multiple teachers, poorly designed- I did pass the Ontario license board exams afterwards I would not recommend this school. As a person ready now to go back to school (ready for a second career) I recently discovered that Medix is NOT a recognized college in Ontario. Its not even a recognize Private college in ontario. you can verify this here:(https://www.riccpcc.serviceontario.ca) which they definately did their best to hide when I applied there. That means…if you try to apply at any REGISTERED college your time and education from Medix is completely UNRECOGNIZED. You cannot use your education here towards ANY future credits in school. They won’t even let you challenge their courses at a registered school without a GIANT muckaround (‘virtually impossible’was the term that fanshawe used). HEAD THIS WARNING: if you can take the program (psw, dental, rmt, pharm tech) that you are interested in at a REGISTERED school DO IT. I have also met several people who specifically took the pharm tech prog from here only to discover that although ‘you are eligible to apply for pharm tech positions in ON after graduating’ many hospitals and pharmacies will NOT recognize people who graduate from medix as part of their internal hiring process because they feel their program just isn’t up to snuff.

Medix College No real value

During my short time at Medix Schhol/Medix College, I came across a lot of poor ethics in how they run their business. Their model of how the recruit potential students is what is wrong with them. The programs they offer don't really have any impact with the careers of the students. They are entry level positions in Health Care. For a student to excel in that particular field they would have to continue their education as Medix only offers your foot in the door to that specific program, unfortunately it comes with a pretty hefty price tag associated with it. The main problem is their overall business philosophy. They act like they are a premier career college in healthcare, they are the furthest thing from. Premier Colleges don't have campuses located in shopping malls. Their ideal student is the 19 year old who doesn't have the grades to get into a real college or university. Or the 45 year old with 2 kids that works at Walmart. The go after and appeal to the student who don't have much of a choice education wise. Their US campuses and their Canadian campuses are all conveniently located in poor areas of that city or town. They do this for a reason obviously. That's why their locations are in shopping malls, that's why they are located close to public transportation, that's why they cater to a specific demo of the surrounding area. They do this on purpose. They want to attract those low end students. Why you ask?. Well they know that a majority of those students will most likely qualify for OSAP or other grants. Medix College is a business first and and a educational institution second and that's why they cater to that type of student. I felt so bad for the students there, knowing that once they graduate they would be in dept, and work in a entry level position making entry level wages. It would take them the rest of their lives to pay off those OSAP loans while they have their little degree making less than 30K a year, but I guess its better than where they were working before. Again just a big price tag for low pay and massive dept. The students can barely pass the Admissions exams to get into these programs, yet the Admissions staff pass them anyway, after all they do get a bonus if the students enroll. (I've seen several of the Admission staff being fired for falsifying test scores). If they do pass they are sent to Business Affairs to see if they qualify for OSAP. Half of them don't as they have such bad credit or other outstanding loans that they don't qualify. If they do the dropout rate is quite high, they quit after a month or so after the program starts. They can't get their money back once this is done. If they do stumble their way through the course they are sent to Medix's career centre where they are put in placements in their field. They try to help them find a job but a lot of the students are fired for a variety of reasons. So a challenge to get the right student, a challenge to have them qualify, a challenge to have them last the entire length of the program, and a challenge to place them in employment. Why?, well because they go after that particular student. Medix's main source of revenue, the student, is also Medix's main problem. Its an ugly cycle. Instead of trying to spend a little bit more money on opening a campus in a nicer area, or branding themselves to a demo, they stick to the same system. You could clearly see of the faces of the Medix Staff, from Instructors, to Admissions, to Business Affairs, the level of frustration on their faces because they have to deal with all this. Its not a enjoyable place to work, once 5pm rolls around we were all running for the exit. The Management changed all the time, it seemed like every few months there was a new Director hired. That's another problem with Medix, they hire good sound instructors or management and then let them go when they don't buy into the Medix Philosophy. Its this philosophy that they hold themselves up to. You can dress up a pig all you want, but at the end of the day, its still a pig. And everyone working there knows it. It got to the point where I was embarrassed of how they were running operations there, when I made suggestions to them, I was released of my duties soon after. They don't want to hear about truth at Medix, they just want to run their campuses in the dogmatic way in which they see it. The upper management at Medix does not have the respect from the students or their staff. Peter Dykstra is unavailable to a majority of his staff who raises valid points to improve the school. He's just a little man in a big boy suit. When he has to bring in his 70 year old father to help him makes decisions then what does that tell you about his leadership skills. I remember meeting Crystal Henry who was I think one of the owners (or at least they were). She would come up from one of their southern campuses in the U.S. and critique everything that the staff was doing, telling them its not the Medix way and they should do it her way. Her way was absolutely old, dated and unrealistic on how things operate in a school. She came across as arrogant, a know it all, and walked around like she was something special. One afternoon I was waiting in the Admissions office before my class started and Crystal was covering the main phone lines while the receptionist was away, and a potential student called in asking about a certain program. Medix's first rule is never tell a student over the phone what the cost of a program is, they want that student in the campus to tell them. This caller was ripping into Crystal Henry and she was getting all flustered and lost control of the conversation. That caller owned her and as I stood close by I could see the level of frustration on her face. This was probably the first time she had to deal directly with what the staff deals with everyday and it was so enjoyable watching her stumble through that call. So everything that she preaches, she did the exact opposite when the time came. It was a total breakdown, and fun to watch.

Medix College Educational Fraud

We are not sure how the chips may fall in this situation, but we can no longer sit idly by and watch our peers get taken advantage of by Medix College in Smyrna Georgia. If we didn’t write this letter then we are no better than the crooks running this institution.
We the students believe the college practices aggressive/manipulating recruiting tactics, willingly participate in NOT providing accurate information about the cost of the institution, the ability to transfer credits and starting salaries of their graduates.
When telling the prospective students the expected amount they could make, admissions representatives obtain information from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Web site and not from Medix College own data collected concerning its graduates.
The admissions representatives’ quotas are based upon figures determined by financial forecasts and budget calculations which have NO relationship to the education of the students, but are PURELY profit driven! The admissions reps act like car salesman, telling prospective students whatever they want to hear so they’ll go to Medix College.
In addition to maladaptive recruiting practices, Medix College currently has non-degreed educators teaching degree programs! Explain to the students at Medix College how this could go on! Moreover, the educators who do not have a degree are currently enrolled in Medix College On-line degree programs with the students that are currently being taught! Talk about conflict of interest. The educators who are currently enrolled to attain their degree are GIVEN a passing grade for compliance. What’s more, many of the educators and department heads have falsified degrees/files to ensure accreditation. This is FRAUD!
Two or three months prior to writing this letter our college had an educator by the name of Donald Williams teaching the Medical Assisting Associates of Occupational Science program without a degree and selling exams to students. He was fired, but the college allowed the students who purchased the exams to remain and finish their studies with full knowledge-the buying and selling of exams from this teacher has been going on for quite some time.
Additionally, our college failed each student at the graduation this past Friday November 12, 2010 and previous others. The college failed to provide a rehearsal, not enough or no programs, not even the college faculty and staff were all present at the ceremony. How embarrassedly sad and shameful! We the students pay anywhere from 13, 960.00 to 46, 362.00. Why is it that we cannot have a decent graduation?!
Please Please Please investigate our college on every level! We the students at Medix College invite your agencies to come and speak with us concerning these matters. Ask former students, especially the recent graduates. We the students are tired of getting the short end of the stick.
What are we the students at Medix College looking for? We are looking for accountability on every level! We want Medix College to be required to demonstrate their graduates are not saddled with too much debt. Prospective rules that would curb incentive payments to college recruiters and require Medix College to disclose graduation and job placements rates to prospective students. Qualified educators!

Lets just look at the facts and the facts only. Okay, Medix College has in their enrollment application/agreement the following, "The Medix College does not guarantee transferability of credits either to or from other institutions" This is key b/c what is so tricky about "does not guarantee" is that it gives the current and future student false hope. (Misrepresentation)The student mind-set is, "okay at least some of the credits transfer", until the student begins the process of transferring and realizes colleges like Clayton State, GA. State, Chattahoochee, GA Perimeter College, Kennesaw State, Emory (which is private), North Metro, Southern Polytech, and many more refuses to accept Medix College credits.

Lets start with the most expensive program Dental Hygiene-AS program: Well these students pay roughly 46, 362.00. For an associates degree!? Not a Bachelors! So when they complete the program at Medix College, go to work and further their education THE STUDENT has to start completely over! Yes in addition to a debt of 46, 362.00, plus the NEW debt for the pursuant of a bachelors degree. THAT IS INSANE!

Yet look at how many students attend this program. Are the Dental Hygeine students willfully or ignorantly choosing to pay roughly 46, 362.00 for an AS knowing the colleges mention above offer the same product with an EXTREMELY LOWER price tag!? Who is really getting the BENIFITS here?! Not to mention the curriculum which is not at a matching collegiate level; definitely a handicap in that it sets the student up for failure as they continue their education in 4yr institutions. I guess the great part of the experience at Medix College is when a student is done...they get to START ALL OVER! WAKE UP STUDENTS!

I don't like the way the dean of MLTA program in Toronto campus is teaching the year 2023. He/ she should have a better way of teaching his/ her students. He/ she should evaluate his/ her teaching skills.v It's not a good approach.

Absolute trash. Unreliable. No attention given to graduates. Services are always late and no replies are given. They don’t answer emails of phone calls. All they want is your money.

I am a former student at Medix College and I truly understand the situation at-hand...This school is, in my opinion, a great example of educational fraud, and a waste of tax payer dollars...I believe most of the educators at this school are not qualified to teach the curriculum, and that students are wasting not only their time but money on a school that I believe has low quality education

Please...please...please...any student thinking of attending this school...please do not attend...Take advice from former students...this school is a waste of your time, and money...especially if you're a student who has to make many sacrifices financially, time spent with kids, it is not even worth it...just go to a regular school...
