Mayo Clinic New Patient Customer Service Representative

The representative who spoke with me on the phone at the Jacksonville FL clinic was extremely abrupt, rude, and combative. I was trying to first give background information about my request for an appointment, but was met with an aggravated attitude which clearly was because of something else not even related to me or my request. She was very blunt and rude. You'd expect kindness, better customer service, and understanding from a top organization like Mayo, no matter what. At the end of the day, calling back patients even if it is to tell them bad news (such as they can't book an appointment etc.) is not just a name on a list. I'm a real person, dealing with pain and debilitating symptoms, not someone to dismiss or belittle.

Desired outcome: Train employees, especially those working with patients on the phone regularly, to have higher emotional intelligence and empathy.

Mayo Clinic Dr, Banich botched my breast reduction

Dr. Banich was supposed to perform a breast reduction on me to reduce pressure and weight when I move. I'm missing my left arm and left to a drunk driver. I needed to reduce my breast so that I wasn't putting unnecessary stress and strain on my knee, neck, and back. I stressed to the doctor that I only want two things, no smaller than a C-cup and even. That didn't happen. In fact, he never sat me up to check before I left the operating table. He told me that the next day. I was laying in the hospital when he saw his work and he just shrugged his shoulders and said, "Don't worry, they'll fix themselves with time." I thought that's what he was supposed to do. He also left me a "shelf" on each side and another nipple at the end. When I saw him for a checkup after surgery, he told me the same thing but added "It should fix itself but I won't be here so the next doctor will have to fix it. Then he just got up and walked out. I thought he was coming back but no. The next doctor, Dr. Pierpont, wasn't any better. She didn't think she could fix Dr. Banich's mistake and I wanted a fat transfer to my left butt cheek but she outright told me that she couldn't do that. I'm having these procedures for medical reasons not cosmetic.

Desired outcome: To be fixed

At the last meeting with Dr. McCafferty, we met in the conference room down the hall from the first registration desk. There were 5 people standing there to register, one was a child. There were two people that I could see behind the desk at the time. She never mentioned anything to me while in the conference room or why we met there instead of in her office. As we were exiting the conference room, she waited until I passed her and was approximately 20 feet away before she screamed "You stink". My jaw hit the ground, as well as everyone eles standing around her, which included the staff in the office. I turned to get out of there as soon as possible. I was so embarrassed, but got even more embarrassed when she said, "How awkward". I'm not sure who she was referring to the people waiting, the staff, her, or me. I have become secluded since then to the point of not even having seen enough daylight to keep my vitamin D in my system. I get an anxious feeling if anyone looks at me, especially if they start to talk to someone else. She's made me paranoid about everything. I used to go to church every Sunday and I haven't been there since this happened. I've never had a doctor, let alone a psychiatrist in behavior health, be so unprofessional and put a patient into more of a unstable mental case. I did not see her ever again. She wrote prescriptions without even seeing me for about a year. I got James Wirth and never had any problems with him. I was afraid for so long to say something because of any repercussions to me.

Mayo Clinic Parking issues, Scottsdale Building 1-3

The Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale has become too aggressive with its valet service. The "service" has taken up more than 1/3rd of all decent parking and forces people to pay 8$. Worse, the valet line is backed up and not at all efficient. It causes more trouble than it solves.

I request Mayi remove the valet signs in the outer building 1-3 lots and allow people to park without the inconvenience of waiting and paying. Thank you!

Desired outcome: Removal of the valet signs in the outer building 1-3 lots to allow people to park without the inconvenience of waiting and paying for valets.

Mayo Clinic Mr. Ian R McKenzie

Prior to my surgery in February 2020 at Mayo Clinc in Jacksonville.

Mr. Ian R McKenzie requested medical information from my primary care physician without my consent and not relevant to my procedure at Mayo Clinic.

All information from my local Cardiologist where available and present at the time.

It is unclear to me why such action is taken since I take my privacy seriously.

Sincerely,

Rainer Muller

Mayo Clinic Billing / inflexibility

I am a Crohns patient and have been for about 12/13 years now. I have had a surgery to remove 3 feet of my intestines damaged by crohns. I will be having another one to remove 1 more foot. Given my current health state, I have accumulated some medical debts. This debt will continue to increase, as my out of pocket through my insurance is 7K per year. I had made arrangements with the Mayo clinic to go on a payment plan...which I paid every single month non-stop. As I incurred additional debt, Mayo indicated that the current monthly amount was not sufficient, and they recommended a higher amount which I agreed to. Now, they again want to increase the amount to more than double. I contacted Mayo and asked for a financial break which they refused. They had suggested I get a loan through a third party to pay the debt. I again requested if they could for the sake of humanity and since I have many health issues, to give me a small break to lessen the financial burden on my family and they refused. Every hospital that I had incurred a medical debt was willing to reduce the amounts to allow the patient to be able to manage it. So, all the sayings Mayo has plastered all over their hospital walls about the patient comes first is total crap..patient NEVER comes first..NEVER.

Desired outcome: Have a heart...don't treat your patient medically, then kill him with financial stress.

Mayo Clinic The run around.

Had a referral sent through Epix March 15 from the Minnesota clinic of neurology for transfer of care for a misdiagnosed ,perennial neuropathy in my left leg. I was told it would be 5 days for review. I was sent a text message to call the spine center for records. I had the records sent within the hour and again was told a week. Week went by I called told its being looked at, someone will reach out by Friday. Waited another week and called the following Monday and again they said the same thing. Called 2 weeks ago and got "I'm sorry, I'll let my supervisor know and someone will reach out". Friday, nothing again. Called Tuesday and was told again, I'm so sorry sir, I'll let my supervisor know and some one will call you". Life has been on hold with real life consequences and I've basically been left in a waiting room.

Desired outcome: Patient care

Mayo Clinic Having to put a $5000 deposit down to make appointments

I am a previous employee of Mayo Clinic, I left on good terms and enjoyed my time there working as a Registered Nurse. While working at Mayo I was able to establish myself with several doctors that I used and my family. After leaving Mayo, I no longer had insurance but wished to continue care with the doctors that I knew and liked. I think it's important to point out that I not only did no own Mayo Clinic any money, and always paid for my bills in a timely manner, but I had also done pay-roll deduct at one point in my employment and I feel as though I would be considered a "safe bet" when being seen on an outpatient basis. I recently went to make an appt with Dermatology as I have had some worrisome spots pop up and just wanted a skin check done to be safe. I was notified at that time that because I don't have insurance I would be asked to make a $5000 deposit - to which I had several questions about. What about that appt would ever add up to $5000? Would I have a say in what is charged? I really sounded like I was giving someone my credit cared with a cart blanche list to charge me whatever they wanted. I asked several questions but was unable to have anyone that was scheduling me answer them. I could understand if I had an outstanding balance with Mayo, or if I was a repeat offender of not paying my bill - But Mayo has turned into a case of the "Haves" and the "Have nots." The needs of the patients DO NOT come first. How is this handled for people who can't afford insurance? Or what about those who don't have $5000 on their credit cards? I am so upset with the direction that Mayo is heading. It was an amazing establishment at one time - I cannot believe that I'm actually writing this letter. The founders would have never stood for this.

Desired outcome: I would like to be able to see the doctors that I established with a grew to love and work with over the years without being made to feel like a second-class citizen for not having insurance.

Mayo Clinic Billing for Kidney donation... PAY THE BILL

MAYO ordered a CT scan for my Kidney donation in Aug 2021. The scan was done and I received a bill from the radiologist for $454.00 I tried to get this corrected with the doctors office but was unsuccessful. MAYO billing dept (Terese Marsing) has apparently not been able to get this paid either and it has now gone into collection. I was told I would receive no bills for any procedures. I am out of patients with this and will need to reconsider my kidney donation if this is not fixed immediately. If I don't hear from someone by 3/14 I will pay this bill and that will end my association with MAYO. Patient # [protected]

Desired outcome: PAY THE BILL!!!

Mayo Clinic Appalling dr. Experience

We waited months for an appt to mayo clinic Gastroenterology in Rochester, MN. We had a few appointments scheduled for the first day but then noticed we had an "evaluation" with the Dr. He walked in, looked at his 3x3 in post it note and proceeded to say "cant help you", "I see a hundred of 'you' everyday". My husband has had Chronic pancreatitis with chronic pain syndrome for 6 years. After his previous doctors didn't care enough to even continue seeing him or answering calls, we thought mayo was going to finally be able to help him but we were so wrong! The dr couldn't get out of there fast enough! We are from another state and spent money for fuel and a hotel and got nothing but a dismissal and lumped in with everyone else. He did send us to pain management which we were denied for (which we have no idea why), we were sent to a rehab facility thinking it was pain management. We abruptly left. We were insulted, lumped in with drug seeking addicts when all we wanted was help whether it be taken off Medications or whatever. But instead we were dismissed insulted and appalled by the treatment we received from them.

Desired outcome: We should be reimbursed for time and money for the wasted trip here.

Mayo Clinic Appointment setting

I waited 5 days for them to call me back.

I got a call back from a rude lady. She told me call back after I had the proper medical insurance code. They would do nothing u til they got that. The were happy to take my insurance information. I guess they needed to know they would get paid first.

I tried to discuss this with her. All I got was a machine like repeated answer with no help to understand what she wanted.

I guess they were doing a favor by talking to me?

Desired outcome: Have a supervisor get me past this or suggest another hospital for me to go.

Mayo Clinic Mayo clinic in owatonna and rochester

Mayo and Alliance Health Services have not treated me well. In more then one occasion mayo actually endangered my life. IF it wasn't for Fairview correctly diagnosing me of cancer and treating it I would not be alive today.
What happened with mayo is that i was peeing blood a couple of years ago. I went to mayo to find out what was going on, and they tested my urine and did not find any pathogens. I asked the doctor what could be causing blood in my urine, and he replied in a sneering voice what do you think? He implied that it was my period now I had had cancer when i was 35, and they did a total hysterectomy they took out everything including my ovaries and Fallopian tubes. I don't get periods anymore. The plumbing is all gone. Fairview found that I had cancer and treated it. I owe them my life. Mayo is only interested in rare and unusual cases because it is a research hospital. They also over use doctors. I went there a different time, and they found that there was a spot on my neck where the spinal fusion did not heal correctly leaving a gap in my spine. A woman doctor wanted to do surgery to fix it but her 3 coleges did not. So I still have that gap. Let me tell you it is scary to know that your spine is not all the there. I cringe everytime i have to put on the brakes of my car.

Mayo Clinic Discrimination

This will now be the second time ive been turned down for an appointment the first time I had no idea why this time they said no at first because I didnt mention what I needed to be seen for and that I need to go back to my Primary so I told them I discussed it with my Primary so they proceeded to take all my information and then ask if I took any narcotics and I explained to them yes because I am disabled and live in a lot of pain and imediately the appointment was shut down and I was told there was nothing more they can do to help me I then explained my health was failing to the point I am close to dying and that is why my Dr refered me to them and it didnt mater still no appointment. Is this not discrimination I will be calling my attorney to find out.

Desired outcome: appointment

Mayo Clinic Follow the money! Insurance fraud? The needs of the patient come last

A doctor I have never met changed my cancer testing care plan the evening before the test was to take place. I asked him why on the phone... His answer..."because this test is faster". I know a thing or two about cancer testing after going through it a few times. Also, I understand radio-active isotopes... I dealt with disposal for 20+ years. There was no way possible that the new latest greats g68 test would yield adequate imagining. However, this great world renowned mayo clinic doctor still knew better.

I underwent ct and ct with contrast and mr and mr with contrast twice prior which did not yield adequate results. Only one imagining test did, but nope... Mayo clinic egotistical doctors know best. Insurance fraud? Finally, it is incumbent on meeting the "needs of the patient" which is mayo's claim to fame. The patient "should always have a say in their health care plan"... Just not at mayo nuremberg clinic, rochester, mn.

After all of these tests (insurance fraud?) mayo clinic still does not have good imagery of my cancer. They refuse to utilize the imagining scan that provides clear, concise, and treatment usable data/imagery.

Desired outcome: Close Mayo NUREMBERG CLINIC DOORS

im a victim of a binary options scam through MT5. When I tried to withdraw my profits, they froze my account and accused me of money laundering. They requested additional funds to unfreeze my account. i lost $2.3 million worth of bitcoins through MT5, I was devastated. . I sought help using all the resources available online but none were able to recover my lost fund. I then heard about thehackerspro. com who had recovered a huge amount of funds from Silicon Valley scams, so i decided to give them a try. When i opened a case with them, they immediately created a contract code on ERC 20 that would assist in recovering my funds. I have been able to detach the first part of the 1.7million back into my trzor wallet. waiting for the $Bnb gas fee to go through so i can detach the remaining from the outsourced wallets

Mayo Clinic Obtaining an appointment with neurology

I would like to file a complaint about the Mayo clinic refusing to grant my Mother an appointment. I called today 11/19/21 to the neurology department to request an appointment and AFTER supplying all the information about my Mother, I was told they were too full of patients and she was denied. I feel this was discriminatory due to age and color. My question is that if they were too full of patients, why was that not disclosed PRIOR to asking personal information as to my mothers age and insurance coverage?
What is our recourse? I was also told that I had no additional person in the organization I could appeal to. I was also told that they would not tell me any reasons why she was denied

Desired outcome: An appointment

Similar complaint. I have a cyst on my spine and registered with mayo to see about getting seen and evaluated. Received a call several days later. Was told they would need to get some demographic information prior to setting an appointment. After giving the information, I was told I did not meet their current demographic requirements. Sadly, mayo is providing medical care on the basis of race. Just to be clear, I did not fit any of their minority requirements.

Mayo Clinic Billing charges for my wife Jearlean Bradley after surgery

`My regards my wife Jearlean Bradley who was treated and had knee surgery at Mayo Clinic, 4500 San Pablo Road, Jacksonville, FL 32224. She is on medicare Humana Member ID #: H55207635. Her account with is Guarantor ID: 4565261. She was receiving knee therapy from Humana in network provider Premier Physical Therapy, 13947 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32324 who advised her to seek help from Mayo Clinic. Preoperative procedures begin on or about May 6, 2021. We were asked if we were on medicaid and the number on our medicaid card. Our answer was no and that we were on medicare with Humana and provided them with the Humana Member ID H552077635. This claim is filed because Mayo failed to inform us that Humana would not pay for the operation and other expenses associated with the surgery. We were frauded in that they failed to provide us with information that all seniors need to made financial decisions. Surely we would have gone elsewhere had we been made aware Humana would not cover these medical expenses.

Mayo Clinic Colonscopy

Total Charges were $15, 304 for a coloncopy on 8/11/2021 at Mayo Blvd in Phoenix. My insurance company paid $13, 616. Overcharged by $1, 688. Was never told that I would have to pay that amount prior to or after the proceedure. This is unethiocal to pad the bill without getting my approval prior to the proceedure.

Desired outcome: waive all costs above the amount paid by my insurance company. I will negotiate any amount.

Mayo Clinic The needs of the patient comes first

Mayo says their core value is "the needs if the patient comes first". Yet in early December, they have announced they will put unvaxxed personnel on unpaid leave. They are already struggling to maintain adequate nursing staff, this is likely to exacerbate the problem. The needs of the patient clearly can't be met if there aren't enough staff. Further, there are discussions of other employees joining in a sick-out on that day to show solidarity for their unvaxxed co-workers. No exceptions made for employees with natural immunity and who are not shedding viruses - both of which can be monitored through testing. Very arbitrary and unscientific.

Desired outcome: Don't punish staff who are unvaxxed when reasonable accommodation standards and scientific standards aren't being considered.

Mayo Clinic Pain Management Department Inaction

I am writing to complain about the consideration and treatment of my 83 year old Mother. She is unable to care for herself and has come to live with us. She has excessive SI joint pain and is unable to walk without assistance, stand, transfer from a bed or chair, get onto a toilet or commode without help from one of our family members. We saw Dr. Hari in Osseo a week ago yesterday, and Dr. Spritzer last Friday, 9/17/21. Both Dr. Hari and Dr. Spritzer were great. However, Dr. Spritzer made a referral for an injection for my Mom with the Pain Management Dept. as she realized in how much distress she was in and in how much need of resolution. Upon leaving Dr. Spritzer, we were taken to schedule the appointment for an injection, and when the scheduler called the department they said they did not have the triage order and that they would call me as soon as they received it. Pain Management did not call to schedule an appointment on Friday, it took a call to her primary physician's team by me the following Monday when they (Nurse Linda = also fantastic) were able to transfer me to the Pain Group to supposedly schedule an appointment. Pain Management gave me the option of 8:05 or 8:20 am the following morning for a consult and informed me that the injection would not occur for 4 to 6 weeks...are you kidding me!?!? I would have had to have gotten her up at 5:30 am to have her there by 8:00. Miss Brittany whom I spoke to about scheduling an appointment, gave no options or alternatives and really didn't seem to care that she was not able to help us at all. I did not accept the 8:00 appointment, it would have been next to impossible to have her bathed and dressed by that time of the morning. What is the point of seeking care when someone is in excessive pain and you can't accommodate them? As a healthcare provider myself, I believe that my Mother is being pushed around because she is old and feeble. I know for a personal fact that a family member presented to a Mayo clinic without a previous consult or appointment set up and received a cortisone injection that very afternoon, but he is a young man. That my friends is elder discrimination. I reached out again to Dr. Spritzer's team to see if she would be able to expediate care for my Mother. A very compassionate kind lady, Julie called me today and explained that Ortho's hands were tied with being able to get my Mother into the Pain Management Department. I asked her not to take my comments personally as she is only doing her job, but I wanted her to relate to the Administrators and Department Heads that I am going to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Insurance General for the State of Wisconsin for the non-treatment of an elderly person who in addition to being physically incapable of moving unassisted is in the early stages of dementia.
Shame on you Mayo Clinic Administration, Department Heads, and Board of Trustees. You claim to be world class in the care that you deliver and tout yourself as being the gold standard. Not from where our family stands. I will certainly not hesitate to tell my Mother's story to anyone who asks why we have had to resort to having her admitted to a facility for long term care when an expediated appointment for a cortisone injection may have been the answer to keeping her at home with our family instead.

Desired outcome: An expediated appointment for a cortisone injection

Mayo Clinic PCR Lab Test

I had a swab PCR specimen taken today at Ridgeview Delano Clinic. The testing is done at Mayo Labs. I asked the technician what the current protocol was for CYCLES on these PCR tests. She did not have any idea. She suggested that I call the Lab.

I called and got through to Mayo Labs and told the fellow what I was seeking. He asked my name and something about a facility number. I said I didn't know what that was and was abruptly disconnected.

I called a second time and again once I gave him my name, was disconnected. I called Mayo's general number and was transferred to the same fellow. He said they don't work directly with patients and I explained that all I wanted was a general piece of information, not anything particular about my case. He said "I can't help you".

I found this unusual, rude and concerning as the subject of CYCLES has been contentious for the length of the pandemic.

Desired outcome: I'D STILL LIKE TO KNOW HOW MANY CYCLES MY TEST IS TO UNDERGO.

Mayo Clinic Inpatient Treatment

Staff insisted that I was mentally ill and stated that if I did not agree that I was refusing sound medical advice. Staff tried to convince me that I wanted to kill myself. I falsely admit and was called a liar. Staff also insisted that I must have a history of suicide due to my sexuality. Staff clearly do not trust or listen to patients. I have since changed providers and received PTSD treatment for how I was treated at the Mayo Clinic ER holding area as well as Generose.

Desired outcome: Immediate retraining of inpatient staff. Allow patients to call attorneys. Allow second medical opinions.
