Mavis Discount Tire new tire purchase

Dear sir/maam,

I called on 11/13/19 to the 607.330.9998 number which is the local Mavis location on Elmira road, store # 130.
Said I wanted the same tire I have already which is the Continental TrueContact Tour with $70 rebate. Was told that is no problem.
Before rebate I was quoted $587.92 after tax and my order # was 147782 scheduled for 11/15/19
I was also told I couldn't have a specific appointment but had to leave the car for the day. I agreed to those terms and price quote.

On 11/15/19 I arranged for a coworker to meet me there and drive me to work. I left my car.
I was called inconveniently in between a very packed morning of meetings at 10:26 saying they don't have that tire.
Now this is definitely a situation of "bait and switch". I now don't have time to research and compare tire ratings and have to take the recommendation, under duress, from the technician on the phone. With an upcoming road trip I also don't have time to look elsewhere.
I ended up with, of course, recommended Mavis brand tires at considerably more than originally quoted. My end charge was $692.56 after tax with zero rebate opportunity. This is a $174.64 difference than originally quoted.

I continued to come back to Mavis because I trusted them, above all else. I also need to get four new tires on my husband's car in the next few weeks. I had brought both of our cars to Mavis two years ago but now I am potentially shopping elsewhere for his tire needs because of this unethical experience.

Your staff is very courteous and friendly so I don't blame any individual, but the practices are unprofessional.

Mavis Discount Tire 4 new michelin tires

Called two weeks ago to make a appointment to have 4 new tires installed. The appointment was for Sunday 10 am on Nov. 17th. Got to Mavis at 9:45 am spoke to women i did not get her name . She asked me if i was dropping off. I asked how long it would be and she said a hour and half to get it in. I had a 10am appointment and needed my car at 2 pm. I agreed to the time and elected to go home and she agreed to call me when done. I called at 1:30 pm and was told my Jim who stated he was the assistant manager and said I was the next to be done. I waited to 3:30 pm and decided to have my wife drive me to the store. My car was in the same place i dropped it off 6 hours ago. I had a 10 am appointment. I asked Jim if my car was ready and he told me the same thing he told me 2 hours ago that i was the next to be done the store was empty and closing in another hour. I told Jim he told me that 2 hours ago and he said someone pushed me back. I am still interested in getting the work done but definetly not at this location. I am very disappoined and hope you solve this problem and maybe recomend me to another location in Toms River NJ that can give me the service a customer deserves. Mavis Discount Tire new tires and tire bearings and poor labor.

Picked up car and two minutes later car wobbling and making weird noises. Returned to mavis. They said they failed to put the lug nuts on a tire🤬😡
Claimed they fixed it and an employee had dropped the tire and lug nuts🤔
Got back in car the second time and heard noises and drive was different.
Car tires was flat and I was stuck with mavis closed.
My life was in danger because of this and my daughters. I want answers and this fixed.
I am considering talking to a lawyer

Mavis Discount Tire oil change

I've used mavis (formerly kauffman tires) for many years, I like to have my cars serviced only by only one company that way I can build relationship with the personnel and also, I tend to be devoted to the company as far as care on my car(s)

This is the second time i've had issues with this location, still, I was willing to give them one more chance even though the first time they not only damaged one of the tire nut when they took it off and tried to blame another mavis location for it (before I left their location, the technician wanted to give me the broken nut in a ziplock bag)
How could the other location brake it if your location had the piece?

This week I made an 8:00am appt for oil change, at 9:25 I noticed they were just taking my car in the back for service, I told the manager I have a 10:00am dr appt which I can't miss, he very rudely told me to take the car then because he doesn't have enough time to perform the service. Reason being "I had only one technician in the shop until now" this is what I call very poor management work!

I will never go to any mavis locations, the rudeness is beyond comprehension and customer service has absolutely gone away when kauffman tired was bought by mavis.

I will file a complaint with bbb (in order to do that, I needed to file a complaint with the company first) and also, I will makes sure that I will use all the social media to make sure no other consumer gets treated as I was!

Mavis Discount Tire tire purchased last year that has continuously losing air. half job done on an oil change.

Employee or rather Mgr more interested in selling me a new battery & power steering cleaning. My oil change was not with synthetic oil as it needs. Oil all over.
Tires purchased last year, came in for one tire and of course was sold 2. It has been losing air since I got it. Was back so many times and they insisted it was fixed. So I would think I got a lemon of a tire. Winter is here and I am putting air in that tire every few days.
I am truly disgusted with the way this store is operating. When I 1st started using Mavis it was a delight. Now you have a new set of employees that don't care as long as a sale is made!

Mavis Discount Tire 02 sensor issue

Keeping everyone posted on my follow up with corporate .. I got a call back from "regional manager" Bill . He was following up on my complaint with Mavis tire . I explained to him how I went to Mavis tire because my car wouldn't turn on for 20 minutes then it started up . I told him the click noise I got when turning on my vehicle and that it started off at first as a crank noise and I was having a hard start issue. I explained to him how I went there with the intentions that my car would be repaired . I mentioned that I knew an experienced mechanic/truck driver who said it could be the starter or issue with ignition coil . I took the vehicle to Mavis tire before it would get worst And mentioned I believe I have a starter issue . They ignored what I thought . They told me I had a sensor issue that they did a diagnostic. Meanwhile I never saw the diagnostic paperwork but took their word on it. They told me this was the issue and this was why my car was having a problem they took 3 days to repair my car. They ran a diagnostic on my car for a day and a half well that's when they reported to me an 02 sensor issue. I just wanted my car fixed so I can go on about my life. I was over charged but I paid in full a few days later I went to cvs I heard the same noise that my car was making before taking to Mavis tire . I tried not to think to much about it . The next day I'm the morning I turn the car on and hear the noise again . Now I realize I'm still having the same issue but I still had to go to work . Ar lunch I tried to turn my car on that click noise came back all the lights ignited but car would not start . I ended up getting the car towed To Mavis tire I paid $75 . The next day repair shop calls me and tell me "your issue is the starter". Are you serious ! Paid $225 dollars. Bill says yeah when you first came To macis tired it wasn't the starter that was the issue.. again are you serious ? Ok well obviously it wasn't the 02 sensor that was the issue! With the 02 sensor being replaced My car didn't feel any different and still I had the same problem. He went on to say that my sensor issue is probably what cause the starter to go bad. He was defending Mavis tire in every shape and form . Now for a fact I know there is no loyalty too their customers . You think a regional manager would apologize or feel bad for someone spending almost $600 having to get it towed back to Mavis a few days later I brought the vehicle to you for a reason to fix whatever issue it was the first time around so I wouldn't have my car towed or have anxiety driving. I'm a firm believer Your job is only as good as the people who run it and the way he made me feel was straight disrespectful. Instead of looking into it knowing that I have proof and witnesses and his employees who agreed with me on 02 not being the cause of my issue. He just simply try to avoid taking responsibility or giving more work for himself to investigate . I will not go back to this facility anymore you definitely lost a valued customer. I will contact
Better bureau business about the scam and how they take your money and overcharge . Bill ends phone call basically saying be grateful you didn't get charge the labor "$70" disrespectful.

Mavis Discount Tire simple oil change

I had an appointment last Saturday for 8 o'clock at Mavis Chrysler ave in Schenectady N.Y. left my keys in the car and waited till they opened. The mechanic was there and someone else standing behind the counter once again I had made my appointment for 8am there I sat in the waiting room until 8 30 and my car had not been looked at it was still where I parked it I was the only customer there I walked out and the guy in white shirt was on his cell going up and down in front of the bays. I looked at him and said "this is ridiculous " he never attempted to apologize or say not one word. We have a credit card when r we spent almost $1200 on new tires I ve destroyed the credit card and will never go near another again. I ve told friends and went on social media and asked them to do the same and out of fourteen friends and 11 family members they all went on social media to never go near another Mavis wherever they live

Schenectady N.Y. I already did this once not going to do it again. Your store on Chrysler avenue Schenectady N.Y. was supposed to give my car an oil change last Saturday at 8am. I was the only customer they didn't look at my car no other customers were there. By eight thirty they still didn't look at my car and I left the manager was outside talking on his cell phone the mechanic was instead with no cars in any bay I was the only customer so I left never ever going back to Mavis had almost $1400 work on tires with a Mavis credit card never again ripped up the credit card and went on social media and all my fourteen good g

Mavis Discount Tire o2 season issue / customer representative

I have been a loyal customer and also have a synchrony credit card with the Mavis tire logo. I have had work done over the course of 2 years. I don't know much about cars but I do know that the service provided to me was poor and there is a lack of care being provided out of this facility. I have ongoing issues with my car after I had it repaired at this facility . I was told I have an 02 sensor issue which it was replaced . The reason I needed it was cause my car was having a hard start . Diagnosis read a 02 sensor code so it was replaced. A little less then 2 weeks now I'm having the same issue . I paid $230 for repairs and now fear it will just be costly if I go back to Mavis tire . I refuse to go this time to this shop I was told by a Penske mechanic and an experience mechanic that I was being over charge for the part and labor. I believe it why ? At first Mavis tire told me the part was $195 dollars in total they told me $295 for the repair but found out it's a lot cheaper I confrontEd the representative at Mavis tire he didn't sound truthful and told me he wasn't really searching for parts but just saw the first option so he went with the $195 part he said he would call me back. He called me back 20 mins later said he has another part that is really good brand for $130 $60 dollars cheaper I went with that part. My vehicle still has the same issue a close mechanic of mine said macvis tire replace the top sensor but should of replace the bottom one too. He doesn't want me to to take it back to Mavis tire and offered to fix the issue for me for free . When I originally told the rep I knew someone that could find a cheaper part online the Mavis tire rep was angry and aggressive on the phone saying well just take you car back and was quick to brush me off . All I wanted was the rep to help me find an affordable part that wouldn't hurt my pockets that much . I been to this place several times and always see the same person never happy never greeting anyone and just not a type of person I would bring an outsider too for repairs. My car took several days for them to run a diagnosis at first and to repair the sensor Issue it's like if they could care less. At this time I'm curious to know if Mavis tire cares or is loyal to its customers.

Mavis Discount Tire oil change

I went in to get an oil change. Just before he cashed me out, he came in and told me that I had a huge oil leak. I told him it wasn't that bad. He then said it's dripping off the pan. And I said again, it's not that bad. He cashed me out and I went home. A week later I started smelling burning oil. I chalked it up to just a little burning off the top of the engine. A week later I still smelled it. I then checked my oil and the damn thing was just about dry. Before this oil change I was putting about 1 quart in per month. Now it's 10 quarts per month. Something happened during that oil change. I want something done about this immediately. I have a lawyer. And don't just tell me to go down there. That is unacceptable. I have a lawyer. Mavis Discount Tire "repair" service

1. CEL (Check engine light) comes on, car had been running rough and jerky, I take it to Mavis and they said it was a cylinder 1 & 2 misfire code. They replace all four coils and spark plugs. I did not authorize any "preventative maintenance" to replace the good cylinders 3 & 4 plugs and coils.
I test drive it and it ran worse than before.
2. I bring it right back, Mavis says it could be things other than coils/plugs. So they spray the Mass Air Filter (or something like that) and start switching coils around, they tell me it is done.
I test drive it and it ran just as poorly.
3. I bring it right back, Mavis says it could be that the some of the new coils might be bad. So they order another set of four coils. By now, they have tried 10 or 12 different coils, trying to find/fix the misfire.
I ask for my original OEM coils, am told they have them, I get there and they cannot find, but says the counterman knows where they are, I come back next day and…they claimed the old OEM coils got sent back to their vendor when they sent back the four new coils they ordered. I don't think a vendor would take 4 old, 66, 000 miles used coils. They would not look new, nor would they match any of the 2 sets of new coils Mavis ordered from them and tried out.
I test drive it and it ran just as poorly.
4. This time, I took the manager along. It clearly ran terribly and he said "that's your transmission, we fixed your misfire." I pressed him back at the shop and he again said, "tranny." So as far as Mavis was concerned at that point, I had a tranny problem and they fixed the problem, even though the car was running worse after they worked on it.
5. During the eight days they had it, I came to learn that they do not have the advanced diagnostic tools to do the job. The guy was using a hand-held scanner like the one I have. The counter guy was looking up my error codes up on Google. They even said they were not a full service shop. On day eight I suggest that they should offer me a refund. No luck.
6. I take it back, drive it a day or two hoping the CEL comes on. It does. I take it to Hyundai. They carefully document and photograph along the way and told me Mavis installed four improper plugs. So all that coil swapping and fiddling was for naught, given it would run poorly with the wrong plugs no matter what. I contact Mavis and suggest I also want Mavis to pay for Hyundai having to undo the work they did - makes sense. No luck.
7. Hyundai installs 4 proper plugs and informs me that the coils on the car are the old, original OEM coils and that one of them is bad. That explains why Mavis could not hand me my old coils. They were on the car. I was charged for 4 incorrect plugs and 4 new coils which I do not have in my possession. I have it in handwriting that the reason my 4 coils were zip tied together by Mavis is because they damaged the 2500.00 wiring harness while they were playing musical chairs with all the coils.
The car runs like a charm now and cost me about 400 at Hyundai, most or all of which Mavis should pay for. Hyundai took HD photographs and documented their repair every step of the way, noting what they found.

Mavis Discount Tire tire installation

On Sunday, October 13, 2019, my husband (Michael Wright) had new tires put on his 2016 Toyota Corolla at Mavis in Hiram, Ga. Since we do not live in the Hiram area, we hung around Hiram for a couple hours running errands. He was told his car would be finished around 2. We drove by Mavis after dropping his car off and they were quick to get it up and his old tires off. Finally we went back at 2, and it was still being worked on (2 hrs later). When we went inside, they told him they were finishing up the balance and it would be ready shortly. He paid and drove home to Bremen. He called saying his car was shaking. On Tuesday, October 15th, he had an alignment at Bremen Tire and Auto thinking that may be the problem. It still drove the same. Finally on Friday, October 18th, he took it to Mavis in Douglasville, Ga they're closer to us). He explained to them that he had new tires put on at the Hiram location and it has been riding poorly. They inspected his tires and determined that not a single tire had been balanced! They balanced his tires and his car has driven smoothly since. I would never expect to have this problem at any tire shop and we have used Kauffman tire for all our tires in the past. I am beyond aggravated by the time and inconvenience we had to go thru to get this problem resolved! This should have never happened!

Mavis Discount Tire brake service

on 10-19-19 i had a front end alignment done along with a purchase of 3 new tires for my 2013 Kia Optima. on 10-24-19 I returned to have my front rotors and calipers replaced to pass nys inspection(which they claim the inspection machine is still not operationa lsince lAST WEEK) after picking upm my vehicle it now pulls haed to the right which it did not do before bringing it to this shop.
AFTER RETURNING THE VECHILE TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT WHY THIS WAS HAPPENING THEY SAY I NOW NEED A NEW TIE ROD TO FIX THE PROBLEM. if this is the case it should have been addressed at the time of my front end alignment. This is a cleatr case of a money grab by your sleazy staff! i have contacted the local news call for action and the BBB and if it is not tesloved to my satisfaction i will be in contact with the NYS AG for a fraud case.

Mavis Discount Tire Brake wheel cylinders were improperly replaced

I was out of state when my break light came on, I stopped at the nearest car shop to find out a break cylinder had blown and I was leaking breaker fluid. Mavis Tire and Auto replaced my rear break wheel cylinders and I was able to get back home that night. The next day my car started making groaning sounds when breaking and had an odd smell. I got an appointment for the following week at my trusted car shop. It turned out the break cylinders placed at Mavis Tire and Auto were installed incorrectly and my break pads were saturated with breaker fluid. The groaning sounds and smell were caused from the friction of the breaking components dragging. If I had slammed on the breaks I could have caused a car fire. Mavis Tire and Auto were very kind and courteous, however their inexperience could have caused me my health and even potentially my life.

Mavis Discount Tire service

In early October I brought my truck in for tires. They drove it to the back, came out and said they had the exact same tires I had on it. I purchased 4 tires. The next day I drove to work. At 4:00 I left to head home. I had a flat tire. I work in an isolated rural area and had to have my truck towed 54 miles to Mavis. I missed work - second job - that evening. The next morning - while missing work - I was informed that the valve stem was incorrectly installed causing a slow leak. I asked about reimbursement for lost work, towing, and Uber. I was told the towing and Uber would be reimbursed so I scanned copies to the manager.
This past weekend I went out of town. I noticed that my mileage was worse than when I had my old tires and that the s[peed on my speedometer did not match what was on the GPS. When I returned home I saw that the wrong size tire had been installed. I called and had to sped my time taking it there to have the tires changed. Never was I offered an apology or anything. Needless to say I will not step foot back in Mavis. I have not received the promised check so now I spen dime telling family, friends, and neighbors to stay away from Mavis.

Mavis Discount Tire replacement tire

I first brought my car into mavis on Friday 10/18/19. After a substantial wait, I was shown that my tire had a nail and would have to be replaced. Felicia informed me that she would order the tire for the next day, priced at $119.99, plus another $19.99 for installation. I made an appointment for Saturday morning at 11:30, very pleased with the customer service and the price at this point. I arrived at 11:20 on Saturday morning, but my car was not brought in till 12:25. Why make an appointment then? I watched thru the glass and my tire was removed. A half hour later, there was still no new tire being installed. Suddenly one of the men comes out and informs me that the new tire "isn't on the truck " This truck had come in at 11 am I was told. It is now after 1:00 and they are just discovering this NOW? Wasn't the truck inventoried upon arrival? Apologies are given, and I left. I tried Sears, Walmart and Firestone to no avail. I call Felicia and she says she will re-order the tire, bring the car in on Monday. I drop the car off and in a little while, she calls me again and says the tire is still not there, maybe Tuesday? About an hour later, I get a voicemail saying that now they have the tire! Well I arrive at 2 pm and my car is in the same spot. Really? Finally, the car is done after about 45 minutes. I go up to pay and the young man says, "that will be $189". "No, I say, that's not right". He says, "oh what were you quoted?" When I said, $119.99, he says, "oh, I will lower it to that price". JUST LIKE THAT! What kind of game is this place playing? If I hadn't said anything, I would've been overcharged. I guess a lone woman going into a mechanic still holds true! taken advantage of! Felicia was on a lengthy phone call and finally put the person on hold, she then told me, "no, I never quoted you that price". So here's the story: Appointments made, but not kept. Tires ordered but not delivered. Prices quoted, but not adhered to. Never again.

Mavis Discount Tire employee refused to service my vehicle

I went and told one of the men working there that I had a patched tire with a low pressure light on. I explained it was the second patch. The gentleman proceeded to try and sell me tires when I told him thank you but I will not purchase tires at that location and would either go through my long term mechanic who i was unable to get to that at that time or to my own respective dealer as I always do . The man proceeded to tell me sternly that another would be a risk and he would not whatsoever do it. I said well you haven't even assessed the tire and the patch may not even be leaking for all he knew. He stated he was going off what I said. And I stayed well that's not acceptable. I'm coming here stating I would like someone to look at my tire and confirm a leak or not . I would have paid for the service clearly but I was refused . You can't make an assumption or make a conclusion without researching how dare an employee REFUSE to service anyone . I have been a driver for 25years and many times have had repeated patches . How dare he be so rude and refuse service without even chucking it out properly or at all! I'm disgusted I will share it all over social media and with local residents . He was unfriendly and condescending Maybe I look young to him but I'm well into my 40s and not my first vehicle . Have respect for your customers ! Never refuse or turn people away and if The shop was busy then address it properly don't diss miss and refuse service ! DISGUSTING AND U professional. When you put my car on a lift and assess the patch then talk to me dont refuse me without even looking ! I will never go back again Such poor performance

Mavis Discount Tire flat tire

Had a flat tire Monday morning Oct 14th took my car into Mavis tire around 11:30 pm because my tires are under warranty. It took six and half hours for them to "fix" my flat tire. Something that should have taken at most an hour. I had to spend 40 bucks in Uber and lyft charges to get to an appointment at 3 because the guy at the counter said there was no way he could get to it by then. I had no choice but to leave it. I get in my car this morning to come to work and the same tire that it took them 6 and half hours to fix, flat as a pancake. I would like my Uber fees refunded to me and for Mavis to honor their warranty and provide me with a new tire. I can provide receipts for the Uber and lyft and you can verify with the store what time I dropped off the car and what time they said it would be ready "right at close"

Mavis Discount Tire tires, wheel alignment and balancing

3 times I have call the Mavis organization and not once have i received a phone call other than the manager.

I want to start by saying I am not happy. I not happy with your product and I not happy with the service. My car still shakes, They claim to have done alignment and the I did not even drive a mile without noticing the tire pressures were all wrong.

The manager, and the regional manager do not communicate as this matter is still not fixed and I don't feel safe knowing that the manager "said she told me twice" that I had a bent rim? This is a common excuse to not doing the job properly and is totally false. A scratch on the rim does not mean it is bent!

I would like to file a complaint with the BBB.

Mavis Discount Tire wheel alignment

I brought my vehicle to mavis to have the wheels balanced an alignment done. After picking up my vehicle 2 times an bringing immediately back as the alignment was worse then when i brought it in. Each time there was an excuse an reason why 1st I was told they aligned my vehicle to a different vehicle they had selected all together on there computer. (There words NOT mine). The second time i picked vehicle up it was even worse then the 1st. If I let go of wheel I would go off left side of road an fast. When I brake vehicle would pull hard to the right. I picked my vehicle up the 3rd time an just as bad I now refuse to let mavis touch my vehicle again I was assured it was ok to drive. ALSO when I asked for the print out of the alignment specs I was told they are out of ink an whoever supplies it has not sent then any in months! I would have liked to know there was not going to be any proof BEFORE I booked this appointment an went through with it. Not ok!
So being as frustrated as I was I immediately took my truck elsewhere to have alignment fixed an or verified.. an wow to my surprise the alignment was so bad it was not even in specs or even close! I am seeking a full refund for a job NOT completed correctly! Attached photos are before which is from mavis an after which is now correct. I hope to hear back from someone quickly as my next step is to the local media to shine light on this rip off situation and or whatever other legal steps need to be done to acquire my refund.

Mavis Discount Tire service and ordering up tires

I was first told my tires would be in Tuesday October 1st drop the truck off lost time at work to find out the tires never came in got a call Monday October 7th said the tires were in I dropped the truck off Tuesday October 8th wrong tires ordered lost more money at work if you do not have competent people working you we will get an uncompetent results. The reason I got from the manager was there was three different people working on my order which makes no sense and even if it did make sense they should have communicated with each other on how to handle the situation now after losing over $500 dropping truck off numerous times I went to another place paid a little bit more money but in the long run it would have saved me money if I went there first I will never recommend Mavis Tire to anyone one of the worst experiences I ever had in customer service I own a business myself if I acted the way that's location acting and Somers Point New Jersey I would be out of business
