Massachusetts General Hospital - Attitudes of some of the doctors and nurses

To whom it may concern; My wife is currently a patient at Massachusetts General Hospital and she has been for several weeks now. The traumatic experience of witnessing what my wife went through and is still going through is incomprehensible. I have repeatedly requested updates of my wife's prognosis and most of my requests have been ignored. My wife'...

Massachusetts General Hospital needham ER mgh

Sunday August 20 around 12:30 PM I was having heart palpitations. I was made to wait close to half an hour. It wasn't until I lay down on the floor because my heart was thumping so loudly that i got any attention. Even then I was only wheeled into a room and I waited. Someone

finally came 15 minutes later or more.

I left with no record of the tests they administered.

I was treated in a rude manner.

Desired outcome: apology Better system.

Massachusetts General Hospital Lost belongings

David Polyak, September 29, 2022 I was admitted to the emergency room. I was discharge the next day, and all my belonging was missing. Nobody can find my bag, which all my ID, keys, phone, glasses and my clothes. They lend me hospital scrub pants and top, I was frizzing and can't go home I don't have the key to my place. They called a taxi take me to the police station, the police is called a locksmith, and they drive me to my place.

I contacted the security supervisor Kristen, [protected]) I submitted all my receipt, several times, she promise me she will submit all my bills and call me back. She still don't call me back. I'm out several hundreds of dollars, because of the emergency room negligence. I can provide all the receipt.

Desired outcome: I need to be reimbursed my expenses $2,506.00 as of today.

Massachusetts General Hospital Gross over billing and inability to code and submit claims properly

Billing department employees are rude and unprofessional . They are utterly lacking the ability to code and submit medical claims properly causing patients an extreme amount of stress and distrust. Anthem has contacted the department multiple times regarding claims that have been submitted incorrectly and they refuse to fix the problem. You cannot speak with anyone directly and when you do, they just pass the buck and transfer you to another person, and then another.. This is a chronic problem and should be reported to the State . We have contacted an attorney.

Massachusetts General Hospital Inadequate care.

I was admitted to mass general for high blood pressure 206/163 and sob, and swollen legs. The emergency room was busy but, to be expected, a bit more than usual, and I had no complaints because I know they're short-staffed. I finally went to my room about 8:00 pm and was told i'd get something to eat soon. Well, I didn't receive any food or drinks until 11:35 pm because of a morning test with npo after midnight. I waited all thst time with a throbbing headache for a cold dry cheese sandwich with gingerale. I couldn't sleep well because it was a hospital, and I didn't have a real hospital bed, but something between an er bed and a hospital bed. The following morning about 7:30, am five people came into my room and yelled, wake up, nobody sleeps in a hospital. I was a little taken aback by their rudeness and gall.
Mind you, I didn't fall asleep until around 5:30 am and couldn't understand why these people were so rude. After my surprisingly rude awakening, I was off to have some heart test, and the staff was warm and professional. The difference between the two was night and day. Finally, I was returned to my room at precisely 11:50 am. I wondered if I would even have a glass of water or coffee, let alone some food. The nurse practitioner said we would get you something soon but did not. I waited a bit more, and finally, the lunch lady saw that I didn't have any food and brought me some food about two hours later, 20 minutes before my discharge. I was left to go hungry while all other patients on the floor were finished eating and waiting for their trays to be picked up. Unfortunately, that is not all the nurse practitioner on her high horse had mentioned that I was there several years back for an entirely different issue and made a point to bring it up for whatever reason for I don't know. She asked me about an admission several years ago about an emotional issue, and I said yes, I have ptsd, and she laughed and said so do i. I honesty thought she was the nut job and not me. Also, I overheard the same nurse practitioner speaking to a family member on the phone, and when through, she had stated that was the stupidest person that she has ever spoken to. The two cardiologists that saw me were kind and professional, and it was nice to be treated like a human being again. The same nurse practitioner lied to the cardiologist and said that I already had the urine test I asked for, and I did not, so I told this nurse practitioner that I hadn't had the test yet, and and finally ordered the test. I have been to massachusetts general for many different issues over the years and have never been treated so poorly as this last time. I found myself apologizing to the nurses often to get my basic needs met because they seemed frazzled and just not there. The look of dread on their faces that says it all. I hope for anyone's sake you don't end up getting treated as poorly as I do because we're already suffering and just adding fuel to the fire isn't helpful at all. I am considering making a formal complaint with the necessary people who should stop this form of neglect.

Massachusetts General Hospital People outside of the hospital in scrub suits

I was under the impression scrub suits were hospital attire and worn only in the hospital.
Every day the MGH hospital employees leave the hospital, hang out outside, enter residential buildings and take the T.
Clothing worn in the OR or in patient areas is designed to be clean.
I would imagine wearing these uniforms back and forth to the hospital would VIOLATE BASIC INFECTION CONTROL POLICY.

Desired outcome: Keep wearing of scrub suits IN the HOSPITAL

Massachusetts General Hospital inpatient hospital "care"

I was admitted in July 2011 for malnutrition and dehydration. They were decent to me in the ER, realizing that I wasn't a danger to anyone. They gave me 2L of fluid immediately, saying I was lucky I had gotten there in time.

The first week I was there they had a heart monitor on me. I was not suicidal and had not indicated any danger to myself. However, they used 1:1 monitors on me. These "sitters" varied, some were very abusive. Some were physically abusive, violated my privacy by staring at me while I went to the bathroom, and wouldn't leave me alone for a second. I kept asking why. The weekend doctor wouldn't let me leave because, as he said, "I know you aren't suicidal now, but you might change your mind." To restrict a person because "you might change your mind" isn't even legal!

I was then transferred to the psych ward. This was one of the worst experiences of my life. I have a medical condition called diabetes insipidus which means I need to drink much more water than most people. Even going a few hours without a drink of water can make me dehydrated. The idiots on the psych ward claimed that their "protocol" was that I was limited to only a quart of water a day. Most people can live on this, but I cannot due to my medical condition.

Two days, three days of water deprivation caused me to start to beg and plead with those "staff" for water. The nurse (named Sheridan) grabbed me and yanked me around rather cruelly. They also listened on to my phone conversations and wouldn't let me talk to my friends in private. One time, I was talking to my friend on the phone and Sheridan did not like what I was saying, so she slammed the phone down and yanked me away. All I wanted was a drink of water. I was afraid I would die of dehydration there.

Because I was scared for my life, the hospitalization left me traumatized for a long time. MGH did not want my story to get out. They tried all they could to silence me. All I want is an apology. I want an admission from them that they were wrong, and that they will change their policy and stop the unnecessary, abusive 1:1 monitoring and water deprivation.

Hello. I’m so sorry you went through this. You are so NOT alone in your distrust of MGH. They will label anyone as a THREAT if they feel that you might tarnish their golden name (MGH). This has happened to me as well. To the point of the hospital restricting me from using my iPad and cell phone at all. To top that off I’m restricted THREE phone calls per day on the hospital line in my room. And they have to be supervised by a staff member. This is on the medical and psych floor.

You might wonder what I did to be treated like a prisoner? All I did was call them out on social media because they discharged me (with a security escort off the property btw) after telling them I planned to go home and off myself.

It’s time that people bring light to this institution and how they treat certain individuals.

Massachusetts General Hospital I could got killed

Stay away from Dai Moorehouse, Justin Briggs and Derek Destefano who work in Medical Records (Health Information Services). I thought they were good friends of mine at first. Dai is in charge of medical records and the other two guys worked in another department within Medical Records.

Dai is mad at me because I found her behavior to be rather odd at mid to the end of October 2011. She claims that Mass General was out to get her and she had all of these mental disorders and she wanted to do something malicious to get fired. She also went on and on how she was starting to HATE gay people. (Because her brother in law is gay and suffered a massive stroke and no one in the community paid him any mind after the stroke after 30 years of tending bar at Frtiz).

I became friends with Justin and Derek on Facebook along with Dai. I did not know it got to the point after Dai was getting to weird for me that she would post my private medical information on Facebook and to make matters worse Derek who is a mommas boy would frequent the same bar I did; The Alley Bar at 14 Pie Alley, Boston, MA.

I would goto the bar and Derek would tell me what medication I was on, who my doctors were, when he looked at my medical records and his friends looked up to him like he was some super hero. Justin and Dai would see me in the hospital and laugh and tell aloud there he is waiting for his medications.
