Magazine Publishers Service magazines

I am having the same problem as everyone else. After many attempts at reaching the 800 number and hearing the voice recording The Business is closed call back during business hours. No listing of Business Hours nothing.
I paid for the one subscription and decided to take my losses, but now I recently received a bill for an additional subscription of $560. In talking to the Billing Department I told them that I did not order the 2nd account.

I also did not receive anything I was promised from this Company, ie no wrist watch, no list to go through to select different magazines but I do receive 1 magazine not 5 per month, not even magazines I was told I would get.

They are very persistent at calling me pretty much everyday. I asked the girl that keeps calling me about the 2nd account and my past due account why would anyone in their write mind pay for something you are not getting in the 1st place. Please someone stop these people from harassing people when they do not hold up their end of a contract. It takes 6 to 8 weeks to receive magazines, so they say, but give you one month to cancel your subscription.

I am very frustrated with this whole ordeal. I did not order a second subscription, I am not sure who did. My Credit Card Company has been contacted and payments have stopped. Someone Please help and stop this Company

Magazine Publishers Service unauthorized credit card charges

I have filed a complaint with the ontario fraud unit on march 9, 2018.

I do have a subscription with them that I paid for in full in march of 2017. This is for 4 magazines for 3 years.

On december 29, 2017, someone from their company contacted me by phone and was confirming I was me and then started off with something about steak knives and the magazines, I told her no thanks and that I couldn't talk right then as I was on another call. I was on my cell phone with my son, so I told her she had to call back because I was on another call. This was also the anniversary of my mother's death, this is why I remember what happened that day.

On january 4, 2018 they called back and once again was confirming it was me and then said something about my credit card, they read the number off and I said that was the wrong number and I gave them a different credit card. I had previously paid off the other one and cancelled it. Then she goes into the steak knife thing and magazines and something being $55. I said i'm not interested and told her someone called me in december and I told her at that time I wasn't interested. She said just a minute, then she told me I had a second account with them, that my first one was paid off and I opened a second one on december 29, 2017. I told her I did not and if there were one open to cancel it. She then hung up on me. By now they had my credit card number. I called the number back and got the same girl, she said she couldn't look up my account without my credit card number. I told her she just talked to me and I gave it to her then, well she hung up again. I called back again and demanded to speak to her manager. It took some time, but a guy finally came on the phone. He said I opened a second account on december 29, 2017 and it would be $55 a month for 18 months. I told him I didn't open an account and he kept insisting I did. I got very irate, so much so my husband came and told me to hang up on them. I opened my computer and logged into my credit card account and there wasn't a charge for december 29 and her said there was and that I would be billed again on the 21st of january. I told him they had better not charge me and if there were a second account the cancel it, he just said no and he hung up.

My credit card statement came out on february 7th. There were two charges on my credit card statement from them, one was on january 9, 2018 for $55.12 and one for january 21, 2018 for $55.35. I called my credit card company and told them all of this. They didn't have my authorization to process my credit card. Those transactions were reversed, my credit card was cancelled and a new one re-issued. They didn't even have the the other credit card number until january of 2018, so how could I have opened a second account in december?

Today - march 9, 2018, for the past three days i've been getting 3 and 4 phone calls a day from them. When my husband picks up the phone they don't answer. They call back until I answer and then tell me i'm 3 payments behind. I tell them I didn't open this phantom second account and they say yes you did and hang up on me. Today the girl kept hanging up after being vague about something and I would call her back and ask her what she said. One was, after 5 months, they will send me to collections and it will go against my credit. Another was she would put a note on my account, I don't know what note, because once again she hung up. I called back and asked what note and she said just a note, I said cancel the account and she said no and hung up. I called back again and asked what this second account was all about because no one else has told me. She said well its for magazines you ordered. I said which ones, readers digest, family circle, women's day and green arrow. I said those are the ones I already get, I have 2 more years left on my subscription, why in the world would I order more of the same magazines? She said I don't know and hung up. I have blocked all three numbers from my home phone and my cell phone. I have never received any double magazines or even the steak knives they kept talking about. I got my money back, they should not be allowed to charge my credit card without my permission.

Magazine Publishers Service entered into a verbal contract unknowingly

Account number 1270486

My old elderly mother got conned into a verbal contract unknowingly. As her son I called into the company, heard the full voice recording of the so-called verbal contract. The manager on the other line and I both agreed to contract is was not clear. Both decided it was not spoken clearly and my mother did not know what she was buying and/or how much it was worth when they spoke. But few weeks later as a bill for over $800.

I tried to contact the company but they will not speak to us. I have a cease and dismiss letter sent through registered mail.

Not sure what else to do here..

Magazine Publishers Service unethical behaviour

Do not sign up with the company. Its a complete scam. They called me and got me to join the subscription saying that I would get 6 of magazines of my choice from hundreds of options for a total of $56 a month. They called themselves a canadian company so my assumption would be that it is in canadian dollars. Wrong. Its an american company and they failed to clarify that.
Another thing they failed to mention was that the magazines do not begin to come until 3 months after they start taking out money. When I tried to cancel over the phone, I was told that would not be at all possible because I have passed a certain date - again, the initial salesperson on the phone neglected to tell me. I had to open up a dispute with my bank on those transactions and when I called them back (I believe the 10th time, I finally got a hold of someone to get my account cancelled but with a cancellation fee of $700).
When the salesperson spoke with me at the beginning, he mentioned that I would be getting a swarovski watch in the mail in a few weeks. That was 6 months ago. I still have yet to receive that. Even at the time that I cancelled the account 2 weeks ago, I was told there would be one coming to me shortly. Still nothing in the mail from them.
Worst establishment ever. Do not sign up with them. They have only caused me stress and about $1000 down the drain.

Magazine Publishers Service not receiving the package or dimande watch

I would like this account closed because 1 I have not received anything that they said they would send and I know they have the right address because I have a card to say the magaizines. I stupidly agreed and gave information which should not have been done and I am in my 20s and it is sickening that they are simple just charging you for nothing and simple just taking your money. I got a call that was passed due on my 1 payment and I said well I have not received the paper bill as per requested so how can I pay for it when I did not recieve and this and she said fine we are charging the account and hung up. After this I called my mastercard company and they have heard of this scam before and fixed the issue. It makes me sick people taking advantage of the elderly like this as well as people like me starting out in the world because they have nothing better to do than take money for nothing. I hope this sit gets shut down and I hope that they stop doing this.

Magazine Publishers Service magazine ordering service + customer service

When I initially signed up for the magazine program oct. 19/16 (paying for a 4 year subscription service in 1 year) I was not told there would be a $20 ($27 us funds) charge for checking to see if my account was legitimate. This amount came out of my account oct. 27/16 but then put back in on nov, 4/16. I've called their customer service and explained this to no avail. All they do is say it's company policy and don't even apologize for this error in communication. On oct. 19 a first payment of $87.52 ($64.8 us) was taken, then reversed on oct 26/16 and $82.93 ($60.38 us) was debited from my account on the same day. When I called and emailed to find out why all of these bank transactions were occurring, they said they only had a record of taking the $60.38 us ($82.93 cdn) out and as far as the $20 us ($27.44 cdn), that was just on hold to which I replied it wasn't but taken out of and then put back into my account. Today (nov. 18/16) I received a call from their customer service dept.in response to my email. A fellow named jordan did not satisfy the explanation and repeated himself over and over again. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he said supervisors/managers cannot help me because all they do is supervise employees not issues such as mine. What a crock! I called back and spoke to another c.S. Person named megan, she could not help either. I called back and finally got a supervisor on the phone. Tyrell is his name and he too only confirmed what the company policy was pertaining to the $20 us charge for checking accounts and offered no apologies for the erroneous communication and bad service I just received from his c.S. Employees. I am very irritated with this kind of service and need to complain about it directly to their company as well but wasn't given any upper management contact information in order to do this. I can provide copies of bank transactions verifying this complaint. My customer number with the magazine service is as follows: 87720 [protected]

I was contacted by phone by someone named bob. He did not give his location or telephone number
Complaint rating: 100 % with 1 votes
Contact information:
I do not know - it was a phone call, canada
Bob told me he was submitting my name in the sweepstakes to win $25, 000.
Also I would be receiving a diamond watch. I was to receive 3 free magazines of my choice.
The promotion was I was to purchase any 3 magazines of my choice, or I could change my choice, or use them for gifts. These would cost me $3.97 u. S a month for 5 years or $3.32 canadian. I would pay every 4 months on the 25th of the month. That would amount to $57.50 canadian every 4 months. Total cost would be $1992.20 canadian or $238.20 u.S.

I did give my visa number.

Amy, bob's supervisor spoke to me after to check on what bob had said.

I regret signing up for this. I am a senior and who knows where I will be in 5 years. I understand I have till august 7 to cancel this agreement.
I wish to cancel and have no more to do with this. # magazines are too many for me to read.

This was by telephone and I have no idea where the call came from. All I know is the names were bob and amy.

I have no documents - just the notes I took during the conversation.

I want out of this agreement.

I will be asking visa to cancel this contract.

Magazine Publishers Service behaviour

I want to expose the obscenely crooked, lying, and abusive practices of the company calling itself magazine publishers service whose website is canadamags.com.
In the middle of september, 2016 I received a phone call from an individual who lead me to believe that he represented publishers clearing house; he informed me that I had won a wrist watch. He also offered me magazines for which I would be charged on a monthly basis. Towards the end of the conversation he mentioned in passing that he was also associated with a company called magazine publishers service.
Just after the call ended I became suspicious of the call and researched magazine publishers service on the web. I found many complaints about this organization and called magazine publishers service to cancel the order. The individual who answered my call claimed ignorance of magazine publishers service and said that he had already received several complaints and that the offer was a scam. I immediately canceled my credit card to protect my funds.
Since then I have received the magazines that I canceled. I have also received many phone calls from as many as three nasty women who demand payment for the cancelled magazines.in addition to the rude phone calls I have taken over a dozen calls from the same numbers where the callers remain completely silent for several seconds before hanging up.
I have sought the advice of the local police who advised me to monitor the situation before they get involved.
I intend to contact the magazine publishers to try to get them to stop supplying this company.
Please avoid magazine publishers service.

Phone calls can take you off guard and you make decisions
you regret for various reasons. Use of a card number

are made without time to study the matter especially with

There was no address. The company name is M.P.S. Canada.

I had the same conversation with the person I had dealt with when they called me. They did not let me cancel and I had to open up a dispute with my bank. The worst part is when they said they would send me a diamond swarovski watch worth $300 but instead I got a piece of crap in the mail (6 months later) that is worst quality than the dollar store. This company needs to be shut down. Not a single word out of any of their representatives words have been truthful. A HUGE SCAM

Canada Mags preys upon seniors and the elderly. Today while at my MIL's (86 years old) I noticed multiple copies of mny various magazines. My MIL replied she was solicited by Canada Mags.com. She called to cancel over 1 years ago, receiving confirmation in writing (Dec 2015). Over right? Nope. Canada Mags continued to send MIL mags and billedl her hundreds of $ monthly (Visa). Today I cancelled my MIL's credit card.
Dear Canada Mags: Beware: preying on the elderly will cost you. We'll challenge for a retroactive cc refund.

BEWARE of this Company. They seem to prey on those that are more easily confused and they do not reveal their true nature until after their cancellation date.. If you interested in what they offer make sure you know what you are buying and how to cancel before you agree to anything.

I am going through the exact same thing...I am not receiving any magazines and they say I owe them $600 plus dollars in US funds. I received a phone call in November 3, 2015 and that I would get a gift in the mail along with the information that I needed to pick out the magazines that I wanted! I never received my "gift"? I cannot even remember what it was suppose to be! I think a watch? I cancelled my Visa because they kept charging me monthly and I still was not receiving any magazines. They tell me I was sent a magazine in January 2016 and again February I was sent two magazines...still nothing. I have no clue what to do or who to talk to...I am not paying for a product that I am not receiving. I asked for some type of documentation to show all this information they are telling me and they say they cannot provide it and when I asked why? Darnell's response was " I am not sure". Other than verbal talk, they cannot provide me with any information about my account

Magazine Publishers Service unethical behaviour

This company has been contacting my parents by phone over the past few months. They are both 88 years old and getting very stressed out by the interaction. The company initially promised a gold watch and a package to choose magazine subscriptions. My dad gave his credit card for an initial payment of $57.50, and never received the watch or a package to choose magazines. After receiving nothing, he cancelled his credit card as not to incur any more charges. The company has continued to call and issue notices saying my parents now owe $632 for purchases that they made on my parents' behalf. They say they have recorded the phone conversations of my dad agreeing to make payment and will send him to collections. They are using terms like "on the strength of your word" and "we went to considerable expense to order with the publishers", but my parents never ordered anything, so the company would not know what to order on their behalf. This is harassment of senior citizens. This company is trying to capitalize on my parents' age, good nature and desire to do the right thing. They owe the company nothing. I would like: 1. The company to stop contacting my parents 2. Refund the amount they charged them for nothing 3. Be put out of business - in fact, this is not a business but a criminal organization

Magazine Publishers Service stay away from this site

I received a call in december (can't recall exact date) about receiving a diamond watch if I signed up for 5 years worth of magazines. I stupidly agreed and gave my information because it was a good deal. They gave me confirmation of all my information which was correct. From that day of origionally signing up for the service, I never received contact from them (no printed contract, no phone calls like they said they made) until today, march 1st, 2012 when I received a billing statement stating that I owed them $115.00 I called the call center and loged a complaint stating that I was not going to pay because of lack of service and lack of communication when the first and/or second error occured in billing. Once I said I wanted to cancel the service, they told me the cancellation had passed and that I was no longer able to cancel. I then demanded to speak with a supervisor, and then was told there was none in the office and told to call back later. My credit card was changed due to the fact it was comprimised and also told a phone number would show up on my statement next to the charge in case any change in service was needed (which there was not). I would like this account closed because it is not worth my time or money to deal with with a 1 year old and 2 jobs to work around. The need for their service is not worthwhile.

I agree this is a scam. I never got the Wal-Mart shopping shopping card and I get only one weird other world magazine. I have paid these people a total of 2 $57.50 payments before I realized it was a scam. I've cut them off from my Visa account and I do not intend to pay them one more dime.

Magazine Publishers Service expensive for 27 mth's, cannot get out

They offered $250.00 worth of coupons from several stores, which I never heard of, along with an expiry date of 02/28/11
already gone by, just got these coupons last week Feb 2011. I called prior to that date to cancel when I saw my bill of $74.46 which was two months behind. I tried to get out of this, I even sent back the Magazine's I received. I did pay the bill of $74.46 and they are still sending me magazines. Which I do not have the time to read, because they send one every day or two. I want out, especially since my $250.00 coupons are already expired. When I iniated this order I put it on my American Express card, paying only $2.95. American Express cancelled the charge and then I heard form Magazine Publisher Service. They told me I should have called them, which I did not have a telphone number or any confirmation from them. I need out asap.

Magazine Publishers Service unauthorized charges

My phone rings at 8am when I am not in the most alert state of mind. A guy who is obviously reading from something and quite robotic tells me I have been entered to win $1, 000, 000. He then says 'and my computer just told me you have instantly won a $400 gas card that should be at your house in a few days.' He already knew my address, obviously my phone number, and my full name.

He then transferred me to another guy who went through the same information and then told me I had 5 magazines coming to me per month for just $19.95! He also said that I could pay $57 up front and not have to worry about another bill for a few months. That seemed a bit high to me so I tried to decline the magazines. He pretended not to hear me and asked for my debit card number. He said he already knew it started with a 4, he just needed the rest.

That is when I realized that they probably already had my numbers and he just wanted me to verify them. I did not. I told him that I did not have the money in my account and that I did not want to pay that much. He said he would call me back in 2 weeks if in case I changed my mind.

I immediately rushed to my bank and canceled my debit card. It was too late though. $57 had already been charged to my account. The bank said I would have to wait until Monday to contest it since it was Friday and the charge would not go through yet.

I tried to call them back and cuss them out but their number was a non-working number.
