National Westminster Bank / NatWest My current account held in Jersey

I live in New Zealand.

Many, many years ago in the 80's or 90's (can't remember which) I visited Jersey as my half sister lived in London and we wanted to recover from our long journey before visiting her. I opened an account with Natwest as I wanted to put holiday money I had brought with me in a safe place. Then my hal;f sister gave me enough money to go to Europe so I added that. Since then I have visited England many times and have either added to or withdrawn funds from this account. It started as a savings a/c but then I changed it to a current a/c so I would not have to do any tax admin.

So, Natwest was getting the use of my money for nothing.

Now (at a time of Covid when I can't come to England to use it you are charging me for the use of MY money.

I find this not only extraordinary, but mean as well. I am 80 years old and still hope to come to England to use up the money I have with you but Covid is preventing this.

Soon there won't be anything left as you will have taken it all.

I would like you to refund the extraordinarily high fees you have taken each month and put MY MONEY into something whereby I don't have to pay them until I can get to England. My email is: [protected]@xtra.co.nz and on your reply to this I will supply my details but you can probably get them from my name and address.

Diana B. WINN, flat 4 202 Oriental Pde, Oriental Bay, Wellington, New Zealand Ph. [protected]

Desired outcome: Drop the fees or put my money into another a/c

National Westminster Bank / NatWest Theft of money from a dormant account

I have had money stolen from my account. I have spoken for several hours on the phone over the last few months and nobody seems to resolve this issue. All that I have been given is a dormant account ref number with the (twice) broken promise that you will phone me within 24 hours. As yet no response. [protected]. My number is [protected].

National Westminster Bank / NatWest Opening Account

I tried to open an account with Nat-West in Hythe, Hampshire.
I went to them just before Christmas and managed to get everything sorted but still needed a proof of address which i took in that same day into their Holbury branch.
The paperwork i took in to confirm my address was a SKY installation bill which proven my address where the installation was done,
I got a callback from Nat west Mr Dan Swinger whom informed that the proof of address was invalid and cannot be used to which he requested me taking them any other form of bills which have my address on it.

I went back on soonest possibility and took every letter i ever had on that address and the Cashier took a letter from my Landlord, A letter from my previous employer(which was less then 3 months old) and a letter from the NHS, she made copies and said someone(Mr Dan Swinger) would contact me accordingly,

I awaited the contact but nothing happened, so after a week of waiting and not hearing anything from them i decided to phone the service desk, after waiting for some time before the phone got answered i finally spoke to someone whom took my details and informed me gladly someone(Mr Dan Swinger) will contact me,

waited and waited but no luck! so today on the 7th of December i went into the branch and got to hear that none of the provided proofs of address can be accepted!
and this while one if from my landlord, the other from the National Health Service and the other from GARMIN(my then employer)

Also i got informed gladly by Dan Swinger that he can only follow the FSA legislation and will try to use my letter from NHS but it is highly unlikely as they can only be used until the age of 18..

This is supposed to be a good bank that provides great service but in fact they are not! i told them to go ahead but in the meantime i will go to another bank where my business is wanted and i am appreciated as a customer.

I will never advise people to bank with Nat west and never speak a good word of this establishment!

people take your business to other banks where u will be appreciated not one where your time is someone else's Pleasure and amusement!

I have banked with Natwest for over 15 years personal and Business, putting millions through my accounts year on year. I now will be changing, In the last 12 months Nat West have failed to support business needs, failed to carry out same day transfers from branch even thought instructions are made in branch before midday.

NatWest has kept my money because I don't have an account with them!
I used their ATM machine 4 days ago to withdraw 300 pounds they are now saying I have to wait 20 days to recover my money. Its robbery and they don't care.

I to have had a bad experience with natwest, ive been with them for 5 years now & im going to change to Lloyds as they are alot more helpful. but it started when i went away & took out 10 pounds natwest added 4p which went over my overdraft, i returned to find that 56 pounds had been added & when i was actually noted about all of this it had gone up to 200 pounds, i refused to pay it as it wasnt my fault and that they had been adding this on. also i was a student & could barely pay that amount. ive called customer sevices people over & over again with no luck & one called Ashley was very rude to me. it has gone so out of control that im thinking about taking them to court. People do not go with natwest!

National Westminster Bank / NatWest customer service very poor and very rude

I went into the bank to exchange 4 x five pound coins, at first the cashier ask what they were then asked if they was fake, i said no and is it possible to change. Then she got very blunt and said no, i asked why and she said because she hadn't seen them before and that because i didn't have a natwest account, well if i had a natwest account then would it matter or not if she had seen them before.I think natwest need to filter there staff as if they suddenly relised that there jobs was on the line customer service would go from 10% to 100% over night.Very poor and would advise people to avoid natwest at all costs.

Attn: balram vijayvargiya,

Good day and welcome to the national westminster bank, where everything we do is all about you. We have been mandated by the uk national lottery to transfer the sum of £5, 000, 000.00 gbp to your designated bank account. This sum will be transferred into your designated bank account, as soon as you make a security deposit for the cost of transfer.

The sum of £5, 000, 000.00 gbp will be transferred to your bank account, as soon as we receive your payment slip for the cost of transfer.

All banks in the uk, including ours are authorized and regulated by the uk financial services authority and as a result, clients are required to abide by the banking policies of the british government by making security deposit for the cost of transfer. Thus it is not possible to deduct any amount from your temporary account in our bank before it is transferred to your designated bank account. This is in accordance with section 13 (n) of the national banking act as adopted in 1993 and amended on 3rd july 1996 by parliament. This is to protect customers and to avoid misappropriation of funds.

You are therefore to make a payment of 18, 500 indian rupees for the cost of transfer. You are advised to get back to us for the payment details, when you are ready to make the payment.

Attached to this email is a scanned copy of my bank id. Your swift response is highly needed.

Best regards,
Harrison williams

National Westminster Bank / NatWest NatWest account sign up scam

Here’s a story that shows just how much NatWest values its clients and their “best interests”.

We are a small but prosperous company who until recently banked with NatWest for over three years. During this time there was a huge number of transactions, but our balance sat at around £100K.

During our time with NatWest we did not request an overdraft or credit card and we did not use any lending facilities.

Recently we had an issue with our mandate; an ex director was on the mandate and we wanted to remove him. He was no longer in the picture: he had left the company 18 months prior, was no longer a shareholder and no longer had anything to do with the company.

The mandate’s small print states that NatWest should act upon its client’s instructions to regulate the mandate. The client, in this example, was of course our company, as represented by our board of directors. Duly following procedure, the board of directors instructed NatWest to remove this ex director from our mandate.

Here is where the trouble started. NatWest refused to co-operate. The ex director – who, if you’ll remember, has no financial or legal involvement with the company – was nowhere to be found, and NatWest therefore refused to assist.

NatWest then froze the company’s bank account. Yes, this small company whose livelihood depends on having constant and immediate cashflow. The bank’s reasoning? NatWest would not take instructions from the company on suspicion of suspicious activities. They told us they “have to look at the best interests of the company.” That company being, of course, us.

You might say NatWest was acting out of caution; surely a simple phone call would clear everything up, right? Wrong. We tried calling our bank manager – our calls were never returned. We even called the regional director – no joy. We couldn’t even get our appointment.
And NatWest’s response to the company’s frantic attempts to resolve the matter and restore our account? “We have to look at the best interests of the company.”

These same “best interests” resulted in NatWest taking more than four weeks to finally unfreeze the account and allow the company to operate freely. During this time, unable to access the £80K working capital and so unable to pay its staff, its creditors and unable to operate normally, the company almost went bankrupt.

Ultimately, NatWest’s “best interests” caused near bankruptcy, enormous stress and ultimately, a move to another bank.

As recent experience with our new bank has shown us, NatWest’s lack of commercial acumen and appalling customer services is NOT representative of all UK banks. If it was, my money would be stashed firmly under my pillow.

I am a young single mother of two. I worked for two years, paying my wages into my natwest bank accout. Every month, for nearly three years, they have repeatedly charged me up to £100 in one month for direct debit cancellations, etc. I now claim benefits as working only seemed to get me further ito debt, so i claimed the charges back using the FSA hardship waiver. However, despite my expendable income of £3.40 a week, I did not qualify. Does this disgust you? Why should others get money back under this hardship waiver but not me and my family? We are so skint that i cannot even tax my car so I have had to take it off the road. My four year old cannot even have her princess magazine. Please someone do something! These people have no idea what that amount of money is worth to my family. It may be small change for them, but it is riches for us!

been a customer for 25 years. I have a 'private bank account' and my own personal manager.

I thought I would check to see what effect the fall in base rates had on my overdraft rate ( this is not shown on any of their paperwork).

I am told that despite a 5% fall in base rates my overdraft rate has not altered and will not be.

These robbers are making an extra 5% profit for nothing.
