LoanFinder Best of a bad bunch?

I don't normally come on to sites like these but in searching through some posts, I came across several for Loanfinder which did not put it in the best light. To be honest, I was a bit surprised as I have used them before and never had any issues. I wonder if people are getting LOANFINDER confused with LOAN-CENTRE (and their dodgy Cornish Collections arm). Loanfinder's customer service has been great and the 'answer centre' on their page makes getting questions answered easy. Don't get me wrong, if I don't have to use a broker then I will not, but if i had to (and I have in the past), Loanfinder are the best of a bad bunch.

LoanFinder Robbers!!!!

Please note: THIS IS A WARNING TO EVERYONE LOOKING FOR A LOAN!
DO NOT GO TO LOANFINDER UK, OR PAYMENT GUARD!
THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!
My Partner went all out looking for a loan, and LOANFINDER said they would help him WITHOUT charging him any fees!
I have proof via his bank statements that they took money out of his account WITHOUT his, permission!I have since found out that PAYMENT GUARD and F L M Guarantor Loans are all the same company!
Please people be very careful, and do research the company first!

Hi Kayjayb12,

I am the compliance officer for PG. I have only just read your post and I was quite alarmed at the content, hence my response.

PG offers Income Protection Insurance, which protects your income in the event of Accident, Sickness, Hospitalisation and Unemployment. The cover we offer is income protection insurance and is not a condition of taking out any other financial products, such as loans.

We are regulated by The Financial Services Authority (FSA) and we would never take a payment from a customer without their consent or knowledge.

In order to complete an online application, the customer would have had to go through various steps, picking the level of cover that they required, chosen a payment date and also entered their bank or card details, as well as ticking a box confirming that they had read the policy summary and Initial disclosure Document and that it met their demands and needs, before finally proceeding with the cover.

If you feel this policy has been set up without your partner's permission, please get your partner to contact me urgently, on [protected], alternatively, my email address is leke.unuigbe@rgroup.co.uk.
I look forward to hearing from your partner so that I can resolve this issue.

LoanFinder Money out of my account

Loanfinder.co.uk

I signed up with them to help me find a loan and no loan had been offered yet they have taken £29.95 out of my account! Robbing ###. Dont trust them. Plus their website is hard to follow, saying they will fill in forms for you which they do but you never hear anything from back from companies you apply to!

LoanFinder didn't take a loan out and they still took funds from my account!

I was considerig taking out a loan with this company however didn't go through with it. They went and took money from my account anyway without even giving me a loan! I was making payments for a loan I didn't even take out. When I rang tehm, after over an hour of waiting, the woman gave me an email address to contact and said i'd get a refund-the email address was invalid. So i went on the website and found an alternative address and emailed them. I still haven't heard anything after 3 days. Will have to try and ring them tomorrow. How could they take money out of my account when UI didn't even take out a loan?

LoanFinder Taking money from account without providing a service

Hi everyone,

I have read through all the comments made about this company and share both your annoyance and also the financial loss through using this company.

I too decided that I wanted to take up a payday loan. The adverts for these companies on TV made it look so easy and I wanted to book a holiday before I got paid in order to secure the good deal I had found.

I am not a single mother or a pensioner and I earn very good money working in the City, London. I simply thought that this was an interesting concept and would save me having to put it on my credit card or dip into my savings. This was my first mistake. My second mistake was to apply online through www.loanfinder.co.uk.

I can't exactly remember how I ended up on their site, but I'm pretty sure I did not originally apply for a loan through them. I can only assume that when applying with one company, they simply redirected me to Loanfinder who could then carry on the application.

Like most of you, I filled in the requested information - including bank details because I believed this was needed to firstly pay the money into my account, and then secondly take the fee for the service once the loan was repaid. They even ask when my payday is in order to make sure that the funds would be available to withdraw.

Looking at their website again, it does say that they charge a fee, however this is after they have arranged a loan on my behalf, and would be taken a month after they have done this for me.

They phoned almost immediately and started to ask more questions. They said that they had found a partner who could give me the loan (a paltry £250 and not exactly a fortune) and that in order to progress, I would have to pay the fee and then take up their loan offer. At this point I realised that they wanted to me to pay a fee which was on top of any fee I would have to pay for the short term loan. At this juncture I decided that I would not take up their offer and asked that we terminate our relations and that all of my personal information was removed from their systems.

They assured me that this would be done, and I believed that this was the end of the matter. I have since checked my online bank account to find that £29.78 has been deducted from my account and that a direct debit has been set up between myself and this company.

When I phoned they said that this was because I had agreed to a loan they had found and that this was their fee. This would be fine if I had taken up the loan. But I did not. The girl I spoke with today tried to argue her point, but finally said that I could write to their head office and request a refund. This would be processed, minus a £5 administration fee.

I sent this today and await a response. I have an ace up my sleeve, which is that I recorded our initial telephone conversation and all subsequent calls. If I do not get the refund in full (and without deductions) I will be taking the matter forward to the police as this is criminal activity. Further more, I asked for all my details to be deleted from their system (which hasn't been done) and so therefore they are in breech of the data protection act as well.

My advice to anyone out there about to use this company: Don't. Come and see me- i'll give you a loan out of my own pocket rather than see anyone else get ripped off by this unscrupulous company. If for any reason you are already using their services, or anyone similar - record all calls. This will help you not only get a refund but ultimately help to serve these companies with unlimited fines and possible jail terms for the company execs.

I hope my experience will serve as a reminder that there are still companies out there who do not give a damn who they hurt or what their reputation is. I honestly can't see how anyone who works for them can go home with a clear concience at night.

Regards

Andy

After doing some more research, I read through the Consumer Credit Act and how this relates to a broker like Loanfinder UK.

'The Consumer Credit Act limits a credit broker's charges to £5 if, following an introduction to a lender, an agreement is not signed within six months. If more than that has already been paid, brokers must refund the excess on request'.

Use this, should you wish to gain any refund from this company as they are happy to quote this Act back to potential clients.

Also, please note that this Act has just been ammended, but will not come into action until Feb 2011
