Liberty Tax Service scam artist

Liberty tax easy loan is a scam! I filed my taxes on the 23rd and was trying to get the loan after paying over 450 dollars. I prequalified at Jackson Hewitt, never had an issue with my taxes, have good credit but I as denied but here is what happen, I get a call about 2hours after filing from a cell phone saying one of our child's ss # wasn't right by 1 number and my son's last name had an extra letter in it which I told him twice and it was fixedbefore I signed. About an hour or 2 later I get an email saying I was denied. Here's where I started to get suspicious, apparently the exact same thing has happen to about 4 people so far. It also come to my knowledge that in small print on the bottom of the last page that the office you filed in actually has to pay a fee for every loan that is approved! I'm assuming that's why a lot of people are being denied. I called the bank it's through and they that there are no funds with my name on it and in fact no info of me at all? Just think it's ridiculous I have to pay 500 dollars (no deductions, just my info, my kids info and that's it) to file my taxes when every other year I've done my own for less then 50 dollars. He was so nice to help us but as soon as he got our money all that changed, rude and very short with me.

Liberty Tax Service tax preparation fees.

I went to office 12368 to file our taxes. I asked about the cost before we began the filing process and I was led to believe it was about $50. Once we completes and signed we were told our cost was almost $500! This is ridiculous, we felt it was too late to change our mind. I am half tempted to sit in the parking lot and tell all the customers how underhanded your company is I am a very unhappy customer!

Liberty Tax Service tax preparation, fees poor customer service

I went to Liberty Tax Service, Leavenworth KS, in 2014 to file for my 2013 & 2014 taxes. The filing fees were $300.00 per year. The tax preparer did not inform me that as a military spouse I did not have to pay state taxes to the state I was working in, therefore, I should have gotten the total amount withheld by the state, instead I only received 1/4th of what I was owed. That is not the saddest part, they have no record of my 2013 or 2014 returns. They have told me they can not find any files on me. Me and my husband received letters from the IRS stating they never received our 2014 tax return however, Liberty showed me a screen shot reflecting the IRS did receive my return but would not print off a copy for me. They also stated in a letter that my 2014 GA state taxes were filed, however the GA Department of Revenue has no record of having received my return. I have asked for copies of my documents submitted for my 2014 taxes, they can not find them. They kept the original documents, I have no copies. Bottom line, Liberty TAX service in Leavenworth, KS has screwed me in so many different ways! The IRS charges $50.00 to obtain a duplicate of a return, which is just more money out of my pocket for their mistakes. Liberty Tax Services has violated Federal Law in not maintaining copies of returns for seven years. Their accuracy guarantee is a "JOKE". This company needs to be shut down, they have no idea how to advise people, prepare taxes without making mistakes and costing tax payers more and more money for their alleged "expertise". I am sure I am just one of many that has had issues with this company, and they want me to trust them to complete an amendment on their mistakes and lies. Liberty Tax Services has no idea on how to process taxes, all they are doing is scamming people out of money, because of course they would not give me a refund for the fees I paid to have my taxes prepared. Such a costly and sad experience for me, something has to be done so this does not happen to someone else! Furthermore, they threatened to call the police on me because I was pointing out all their mistakes and for having more knowledge than they have. Not only do they have no knowledge about how to complete tax returns, they use threating scar tactics to intimidate their customers.

Liberty Tax Service stole $441 dollars from me

I went to liberty tax service on torrance, ca tax preparation office

spoke to sharid, and cassandra, they told me the cost was $81 dollars and on top of that they gave me $50.00 cash, because they explain it was part of their promotion.
When i came to pick up my check, it was for $81.00 dollars, and they said oh that was your refund, . They literally charged me $441, just to do my taxes for a single person, and i dind't make more than $10, 000 dollars.
They told me something total different, when i arrived., i dont read and i speak little english and had me sign paperwork, that i didnt understand.

Liberty Tax Service my tax return money

I went to liberty tax first offf the fees are to much and they scared around the amount they charged when I asked them I am filing a complaint because I was in informed about the services fees while waiting for my tax money to hit my card liberty taxes took money off my card which they aren't authorized to they say that they took there fees of $460 I was told by liberty that the fees are already tooken out and they have me a false. amount of what my taxes should have been I was unaware that there fees were to be took off my card I want my money credited back to my greendot $500 dollars on the count of them giving me $200 out the $719 balance they took from I am not satisfied with they services they lie and told me something different I had an offset and all I had left over from my taxes was $719 all I got from liberty was $200 I was crying hurt I currently don't have anywhere to stay was waiting on they money to be on my greendot card and it wasn't I was gone get me a little place with the little money I had left over I will not be letting liberty do my taxes anymore they have lost me as a customer I'm homeless and going threw a MESS I am so dossapppinted and upset hope this complaints helps. out this should never happen they led me to believe things that weren't true no I have no money at all and no place to stay

I was told the wrong amount for liberty tax servixe I was waiting for money to hit my card and liberty took it saying it was for they fees they were suppose to already take they money out not off my card they are crazy and $460 is to too much for services anyway please do not go to liberty your better off doing them yourself I'm pissed and I want my damn money back on my card

Liberty Tax Service taxes unfiled still past extension for both personal and business taxes

Deeply disappointed in the Liberty Tax Ofc in Plainfield IL (Lincoln Hwy)
My 2014 personal AND business taxes were apparently put under extension however come to find out he did not complete either one in the extension period... or anytime in 2015 either for that matter... I had been none the wiser not knowing extensions typically only last 6 months. Had followed up with him and received response in May, he said he would complete in the following month and assuming this was on his radar again I backed off. There is no good reason in his "off-months" he couldn't finish them obviously! Fast forward to February 2016 and he's offered no apology or reason they are still not done... I AM FURIOUS. I have made multiple attempts over the course of 3 weeks to contact him. Not a single phone call. short texts but no followup or appointment... he said he would have someone contact me... nobody did. I gave a date I would be in town to finish them up with signatures... nobody set that appointment either. I called his office girl twice... she also has not called me back to date...
I thought he was a "Tax Professional" and I could not be more wrong. No rush on that refund Dave Rocci, thanks for absolutely nothing. Liberty Tax does not take care of their customers. I will spread the word.

Liberty Tax Service non-payment for work.

I was devastated when Liberty Tax franchise owner refused to pay me. I contacted corporate because they really are supposed to make sure there franchises are representIng the brand. His name is Steven Tyler and he will lie cheat or whatever to get out of doing fair business. Corporate will not help me at all. I don't know what to do. They treat all employees as if they were completely disposable. I hope he gets shut down.

Liberty Tax Service my taxes when they did them in 2015

I went to liberty tax here in Fostoria Ohio to get my taxes done... never been there heard good things about them and was helping my cousin out cause of the $50 deal... anyways my complaint is that when the dude did my taxes he had given me the earned income credit for my son who lives with his dad... and I took my year before tax papers to show him how I needed them done and he said ok and still did what he did and I double checked with him about getting what I got back for not claiming my son or the earned income credit tax credit he said right... well he was wrong I was taken to court and now I gotta pay back almost $4, 000.00 which I don't think I should have to since it wasn't my mistake and I took my taxes to a place that knows how to do them that obviously they dont and now I don't get my taxes this year or next year cause of an employee of yours... I feel that the employee or the company should pay that since it was their mistake not mine cause I paid to have my taxes done right... I would really like a response back thank you... Liberty Tax Service employees won't work there again

I did not Receive my paychecks on time they were three days late and I did not receive my bonus check in 2015 and I had to work in freezing rain and blizzards and had to work outside at temps below 0 they would not give you breaks to warm up. I did not have this problem with them in 2012.in 2012 I got my paycheck on time and got my bonus check within a couple of weeks after tax season.

Liberty Tax Service 2014 return

The nightmare started when they filed the wrong paperwork for my Ohio State taxes. They told me that Pennsylvania would pay my refund due to Ohio and it would be a wash. They thought this since I was due a large refund from Pennsylvania and I owed ohio. About 2 months after filing I get a letter stating that I owe the state of Ohio approximately 900 bucks. Liberty staff tells me the state was in error but to pay it anyway. They also said the refund shout be coming soon so it would be an even transaction. They said nothing about the fine they made me pay. Well its October and no refund from pa and I paid Ohio out of pocket. Yesterday I got a threatening letter from my local income tax collection agency. Seems they messed that up too. Really? They placed an incorrect number in the amount of local income and now I am being told I owe 351 bucks plus fines. Don't ever ever ever use these people. They are incompetent and have so many excuses for their lack of knowledge it makes me ill. I can't wait to see what else is wrong with my 2014 return. Time will tell.

Liberty Tax Service Gave me different refund amounts

I FILE taxs jan 24 mr. Dale ask me did I have insurance I sade yes he took my word
And never told me I needed a 8962 and 1095 21 days
later I found out my taxs were missing info I went
Back to liberty and took the form after pull up my in they sade I would get 299 dollers I fax the info to the irs they say I will get 1233 back but liberty gave me 3 diffeert amounts they keep my state taxs and ake like I have not pade them in wrintin they gave me 3 differnt amounts I sould get bacl.1233 accounding to the irs but liberty say I getttin $200 dollers I want a laywer

In 2010 i worked in liberty tax in miami, florida as a tax preparer and worked from january to april and didnt get paid i recieved messages from the owner that i will get paid in a check by mail at the end of the season but never sended it now in 2011 i will make a claim on a civil court and in the us department of labor wage &hour division of miami

I worked approximately three weeks in January 2011 at the Liberty Tax located on 2538 Candler Road in Decatur, Ga 30032. I never received waged for my services performed. The individual that hired me assured me that he would pay me. However, when I contact this individual regarding paying the wages he owes me he gives me the run-around or refused to accept or return my calls.

Do you do background checks on your employees? Can people who have committed a class IV felony work in your business? If an employee is several months behind on child support can they work in your business? If an employee has thousands of dollars owed on judgements can they work in your business?

I had to file a complaint with the NYS Dept. of Labor to get two days pay (1/11/11 & 1/12/11).
This manager, Hatel, owner of the Deer Park Liberty Tax kept saying the check was in the mail.
Well, it didn't come for a month, so I knew I had to do something.
I finally got the check after the NYS Dept. of Labor started looking into my complaint.
If these people are untrustworthy with their employees--WOULD YOU TRUST THEM WITH YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

Liberty Tax Service tax

Hi there my name is Jordan, I had a bad experience with an employee/tax preparer of Liberty Tax the previous week and I have written a review of the experience on numerous websites such as Yelp.com, the Liberty Tax complaint forum, and have even submitted a form of complaint to the IRS.

The review of my experience is below. Her name is Andrea Jerome and she is at the 967 Hempstead Turnpike Location(Liberty Tax) in Franklin Avenue. Some points I mention in the review I have shown to other people is that the place is supposed to open up at 8 am in the morning and often they open much later such as after 9. When my mother tried to take back the 1040 form the next morning that Andrea previously refused to give back to me the previous night and held on to as if it was hers, Andrea turned the key in the door(this was after 9:30 am an hour and a half after this place was supposed to happen) and left my mother standing. Towards the end of this experience with "Andrea Jerome" we ended up calling the police and when they came to the location they told us that this was the third time they have come to the location and obviously something must be up with the owner for that to be the case.

On Tuesday evening I came to this place as a walk in, in order to adjust my taxes that were already filed a week and a half before. I had the request to change my status from single to head of household. When I arrived at this location I had an interaction with Andrea Jerome, who was cordial at first but then quickly changed. She and her receptionist told me to fill out a form asking for my basic information such as name, address, etc and she told me where to sign.

After doing this, she then told me that she had to get something to eat to go on her break so she is prepared for us when she comes back so she is not sluggish and making mistakes. Okay no problem, she says this will just take from 15 to 30 minutes and she will be back. After about an hour she was not back and I went back home. When I returned home I called the assistant and requested an appointment for 12 noon, when I arrived Wednesday at that time, only myself and two other people were waiting. She was speaking to to numerous people on the phone and I was not called until 12:20(again I was only one of three people). She called me and went through my files from yesterday and pretended like what happened yesterday with her being very late never happened and didn't acknowledge it or apologize.

What she did talk about was how I came on a crazy day and how busy Wednesdays are and she is moving about constantly. Stated she is glad how this is once a year only she has to deal with this. She told me days like Tuesday and Thursday are great days and when I reminded her I came on a Tuesday the day before and how I waited a while for her, no word of apology came out her mouth, she simply just said I was a walk in and appointments are best. She then worked on my the figures for my readjustment and wrote a peice of paper what my figures would be for federal and state and then gave me her business card. I had told her previously my return arrives Thursday morning(the next day) to my bank and she told me after the refund arrives she can only just take my word for it and to call her the next day and then come in with proof that the person i am claiming is my dependent and then I should pay then. When I called the assistant's number I am told by her that "Andrea is not in the office" and asks me if I want to make an appointment for Monday. I say no thanks and realizing I dont' want to deal with this experience anymore.

So I decide to go in and ask for my Form 1040 Individual Income Tax Return. When I walk in without even greeting me she is halfway standing up on the phone and screams out " Do you have an appointment"? "I am on a conference call come back tomorrow" . I tell the receptionist who is looking caught off guard by how she is acting and tell her all I came for is my form 1040 document and nothing else. While Andrea is on the phone the receptionist goes under the desk and is taking out of the folder and Andrea snatches it from her and says in order to get my form back I have to be taken out of the system first and she isn't gonna give me back my documents.

I tell her she is not allowed to do that and all I asked for is to get my stuff and that is it and she tells me she is gonna call the police now. I tell her how nasty she has been acting this entire time and she tells me "Your the one who took a couple weeks to realize you had a child you had to claim". Bringing up something that is not her business. Andrea then told me that I came in when the place was closed. When I walked in it was 8:30 and she said well the lights were off we are closed and I told her the business is supposed to close at 9 pm not when she feels like it.

When I am not leaving yet she tells her assistant to walk over since she is on the phone and call the police and tell them to come. I tell her its okay you can tell them to come I''m still waiting for my documents and Andrea says the police wont get involved in an issue of "claim" and will only tell me to leave and believe her because "I am a tax professional". When I say to her its all about you huh? She says yes right now it is. Yes Andrea was doing all of this while on the phone with someone in her "conference call"..Or more like she is talking to friends or her boyfriend while pretending its business. As I was leaving she screamed out to me I'm never getting my form back and pointed to the assistant telling her to close the door.

When I came up to the place I just rushed and did not bring my phone with me so I could not report this myself to the police automatically.

I have already reported her for employee misconduct and holding on to documents that do not belong to her without approval towards the IRS. If you ask around, I can promise you I am not the only person who has had a bad experience with Ms Jerome at this place.

In addition to what I reported about Andrea Jerome before, during the last day of the standoff with her on Friday February 13th I called the police when I was at the location. At the time only the receptionist was at the desk but I just wanted to handle the situation since she(Andrea) always seems to be out of the office and makes her own schedule. Earlier that day, the receptionist had a copy of my 1040 form in an envelope for me but when I was leaving I realized it was the copy, and called back requesting the original.

If it was someone else, any other tax preparer I would be fine with having a copy, but the previous experience with Andrea, made me uncomfortable with her having my original document in her possession

When the two police officers arrived I explained the situation to them and then they asked "Where is Andrea right now" to the receptionist who then told them she can call her cell phone number. When Andrea was called, she told her that the police were there looking for her, and Andrea then told them to put her on speaker phone. The policeman told her not to disrespect him and if I am asking to talk to you, you can come to the office and speak to me, "I'm not speaking to you over the phone". When they asked where she was she stated "I"m far away from the office now" but did not tell them where.

Andrea told the receptionist to tell the officers that she would be back after 7 pm and the officers told us they could not wait that long but understood our frustration because they saw firsthand how she acts towards people. They told my mother and I it was their third time being called to the location and I assure you we only called them once so they were speaking of previous cases. They did not go into detail about that but I remembered hearing that from them. The one policeman(the other office was a policewoman) made a joke about how "There are Statue of Liberties dancing outside the office all the time but when you come here workers are barely inside" ..."They are telling you outside to come inside to an empty place".

At this time it was minutes to 5pm so we all knew she gave the 7pm time because she knew they would be long gone. They recommended my mother and I to try and call back another time when she is there, to let a civilian board know about this matter, or file a police report. After the four of us walked out the door, one second after, the receptionist closed the front door and turned off the lights. I have mentioned before during my interaction with Andrea, the receptionist was fine and just doing her job. It was painfully obvious that Ms. Jerome must have told her to close the door and turned off the lights.

When this happened the officers just laughed and said she just confirmed everything they said about the business and repeated the steps of recommendation they previously gave us. I believe this was the 5th Precinct Police that came when we called, they would be able to confirm going to that location that day and vouch for what happened. I have been trying to find out the franchise owner for the Franklin Square location but I have had no luck.

They have written guarantees to refund preparation cost if not satisfied for any reason and will pay for any penalties and fees if they made an error . I received a court judgment awarding the money for both but Liberty tax refuses to pay.

I contacted this office via phone for a tax preparation quote. Was told that a single person with no dependents and with one W-2 filing an itemized return would be approximately $149. My actual bill was $376. What a rip-off! I could have had it prepared by a CPA for $175. Lesson learned...never again.

After paying Liberty Tax service over $500 to do my 2009 taxes I found that my taxes had not been filed. After contacting them they pretty much blew it off and refuse to reimburse any of their fees. I recently filed the taxes myself.

Liberty Tax Service more money taken from me!

I have went to Liberty Tax for 8 years to have the do my taxes. After the girl who prepared them told me what my return amount wold be, I was like ok and this includes all fees taken out and she said yes. A few days later I received a call saying the IRS denied your taxes. The very next day, I get a call telling me I needed to come in and resign paper work because a few signatures were missed. So I went in and did all that. I got a text from Liberty on 2/6/15 saying my check was ready. I go in the following day and its more than $200 short than what I was told. So the "manager" came over and said something of my employer paid benefits was not claimed on the return right so $200 was deducted from my return. I am beyond pissed, I will NEVER ever use Liberty Tax again! I will aslo tell people to never go there and will never recommend them. My whole family in and out of state will no longer use them and we are all passing the word around to use someone elses for tax preparation!

Liberty Tax Service theft

I did my taxes at Sepulveda Culver City branch. The so called tax master with two different last name Ranjilla Singh and Ranjilla Isaacs, deceived me into signing on the docusignature and stealing $586 from my tax refund. She prepared my tax so she knew how low my income was last year but she is heartless and inhuman. The other employees do not help out either. The try giving a $25 gift certificate to compensate which is so heartbreaking.

Liberty Tax Service tax preparation

We went to this tax prep.co. To have our [protected] taxes prepared. We saw that we would be getting back quite a large sum of money. Much more then we expected. So we asked them to double check the figures due to our suspicion. They informed us that all was well. So we had them sent in. About 6 months later we received a letter from the IRS stating th a t we owed over $2000.000 for not reporting all of our income. We were livid to say the least! I'm on SS and they did no t report that fact. You see they don't usually tax a n SS payment, UNLESS you go ABOVE the amount within their guidelines, which I had. Apparently, LIBERTY tax services did not know this so did not report my SS income. Leaving us to pay the taxes on it ourselves. We intend to retain a lawyer and have reported them to the BBC. they need to be held responsible for the financial damage they cause people. I've read a lot of the complaints about their service on line. You should read them. So, Mark my words, read my lips, when you hear th we name LIBERTY TAX SERVICES around tax time, by all means RUN! Liberty Tax Service incompetence

My wife and I had our taxes done by liberty tax services in east texas. My wife brought a coupon in that said teachers got their taxes free this week. The liberty people said if we would check in the one-half inch font at the bottom of the page, they aren't free at all. Fine. After being charged $200 and told that we would pay more than ever, I should have accepted that as a red flag. Liberty said well your employer needs to take more out your check. We got a notice from the irs two weeks later saying that it looked like we didn't include all of our income and payments. All called liberty and they assured me that they would handle any complaints with the irs because they used to work for the irs and new how to deal with them. My wife and I "let it go." about
June something, we received a notice from the irs to document a couple of prepayments that we made. We faxed it to them and told liberty. During the first part of july, we received a notice that we had overpaid our taxes by $501. They would be sending us our check within three weeks. Liberty figured it wrong by $501 and charged us $200. Since the irs is a better friend to us and than liberty, enough said about this fine company.

Liberty Tax Service sorry customer and employee relations

Beware of doing any type of business with this place. I have seen both sides (Customers/Employees) get screwed over. The customers are not treated with care unless they are big-shot wage earners. Low income customers are treated with no concern or care. The fees are outrageous and they do not honor their promotions. I was promised $50 cash in a flash to come and do business with them but did not get the money. I was told that they are out of money at the time and to come back another day. When I came back as told, I was told another lie about the money and was never given the money. I call it a form of bait and switch. I have had the opportunity to relate with some employees and many of them stated that they are behind a whole month from getting paid. They are literally working for free.

I agree. We are due to get our taxes back this coming week, and ALL of the locations are closed? How in the heck are we suppose to get our check? Phone numbers don't work. If they HAVE moved, they have not informed me, and I have contacted people who are about to take action in helping me find out where they are...

Liberty Tax Service wrong information

Hello fellow readers I want to let others know how bad of a experience I had with this company. My wife and I had our taxes done and we had to come back up to have them do an injured spouse form. Well they filled the form out for us and we asked what we needed to do when we sent it back, They said just mail it back to the state on MI. So we did and a couple weeks later we receive a statement saying half of my wife's refund was being taken due to not sending a copy of our lease. So I call the treasury dept. and they tell me to read the instructions and low and behold it says "If proof of sole ownership or leasehold is not received with this form, The credit will be divided between both spouses."

Well with this new info in hand I call liberty tax to find out why I paid to be told wrong information. A woman named tiffany dials answers and I start asking why no one said to send my lease copy with the form, She tells me that you do not need to and that the state of MI is just trying to get everyones money. I read the line from the form to her and after each of the 4 times I read that to her, Everytime I would finish stating the instructions she would tell me I was wrong and each time she got more degrading and snotty with me because I will argue if you keep telling me that the instructions are wrong. So after about 30 minutes of her telling me I was wrong I was fed up with the call and asked her if I could speak to a manager, She got real snotty with me and I told her that once she started getting rude with me I started recording the conversation. So she says that she cant talk to me and that shes going to call the cops on me for that so now I get really mad that she says shes gonna call the cops for recording her when it was LEGAL to do. So now telling her I want a manager and that I recorded the call she starts telling me I was acting like a baby and so forth and hang up the phone. I try calling back after being hung up on to get no answer. So I call corporate and make a complaint and a hour later the cops come. Tiffany told them that I threatened her because I said Id come up later, How thats a threat I have no clue. I had the paperwork from the state which showed they were wrong and instead of saying to bring it up and show her she kept ramming it down my throat that I was wrong so how is it a threat for me to say Im gonna show her the proof she was wrong. Nope she called the cops saying I threatened to come up there after they messed up our taxes. It took 3 days for the franchise owner mario quinto to return my complaint call which corporate said he would call within 24 hrs. So my wife and I get a call from mario telling us to bring the paperwork after arguing for 20 minutes. I get there and show him the form and he admits that you do in fact need to send in a copy of your lease but thats all he did and NOT once did he apologize for them giving us the wrong info. So we are talking and he starts talking down upon my wife in front of me and I tell him to stop with the degrading of us and this man starts to giggle. I held my composure for this man even as he treated my wife like garbage and we keep talking about this and after like 20 minutes of talking and saying he will let customers from now on know they need to send in the copy of the lease he says theres nothing he will do. He also says that the tax laws changes and this must be new, But Michelle at Mi Treasury who worked there for 10 years says that you have ALWAYS needed to send in the lease. So liberty has bee misfiling peoples taxes for many years. When we come to get our taxes done we expect the tax prepper to know what the instructions say and if we pay for them to give us tax advise then it needs to be correct. In my case and many other peoples cases liberty did not know how to fill out Form 743. In my case not only did everyone tell me I was wrong but they had the cops harass me and my wife lost about $250. Their site says "If an error is made in the preparation of the customer's return that results in a cost of interest or penalty, we will pay that interest and penalty." Well this was a penalty that cost my wife $250 that she was not obligated to pay and these people and this mario guy refuse to honor their companies word because they made an error. Bottom line I would not advise anyone to visit liberty because they in fact do not know how to fill out this one form and I want to know what else they dont know about taxes, But also tiffany and all the people I have talked to with this company have zero customer service skills at all and they CANNOT accept the fact that they were wrong.

PLEASE EVERYONE WAKE UP LIBERTY TAX SERVICES IS A BIG SCAM. DO YOU KNOW WHY THEY HAVE FREE TAX CLASSES? FOR CHEAP LABOR, THE STUDENTS ARE USED TO PREPARE YOUR TAXES ! THEY PICK THERE BEST STUDENTS AND GIVE THEM A PART TIME JOB.
THEY CHARGE YOU ALOT OF MONEY JUST TO HAVE INEXPERIENCED PREPARERS DO YOUR TAXES.

PLEASE EVERYONE WAKE UP.

Liberty Tax Service payroll

I received my payroll check in the amount of $537.06, and it was returned by maker's bank (JP Morgan Chase) and refused payment to me claiming it was a fraudulent signature on the check. I made a trip to my bank for confirmation and yes the check was returned as a fraudulent check, I am still out my $537.06 for my pay.

Bad employer relations.

I did contact my employer and they have only given me the money for my overdraft fees. But haven't reimbursed me of the originall paycheck.

Liberty Tax Service bad service/bad customer service

According to the paperwork I was given by Liberty Tax service “We guarantee our services 100% If you are not satisfied with our service, for any reason, we will refund your preparation fees.”
This is a lie.
Here is my story. I moved from New York to Florida in 2012. Being new to Florida I was unsure of the tax implications having lived in two states so I went to Liberty Tax, located at 5203 Cortez Road West, Bradenton Florida, 34210.
I should have suspected something when the preparer told me I knew the forms better than he did.
After several attempts to contact customer service I sent them this message on Feb 15:

Dear Liberty Tax,
As I had recently moved from New York to Florida last year I decided to use an "expert" tax preparer this year and chose your company. Frankly, I have been underwhelmed by your company's service.
I visited your office at 5203 Cortez Road West, Bradenton, FL - 34210 on 01-28-2013 and your "expert" needed assistance with the proper forms-from me! That should have been my first clue. As I have education expenses I was informed that the IRS might reject my return, and if that was the case that Liberty Tax would refile without the education expenses (form 8863) and then file an amended return when the IRS began accepting them.
I was never notified whether the return was rejected or even if it was filed. So I called the local office in February and was told they could not file until "mid February", and apparently could not define what "mid-February" meant even though I was able to find it defined on the IRS website as February 14th. That should have been my second clue. I was again told to file a return without the form 8863 and later file an amended return and when I agreed they hung up. Third clue.
On February 14th I called again to see whether it had been accepted or not and was told that it could not be filed yet because the IRS was not accepting education credits yet and when I informed them that according to the IRS they indeed were accepting forms starting the 14th I was informed that it had been rejected. Yet again I was told to file a return without the 8863 and later file an amended return and made an appointment for the 15th.
So today when I came to my appointment I spent most of the next 30 minutes waiting while one "expert" handed me off to another "expert", and while I was with expert number 1 I was again informed that the IRS is not accepting form 8863 and when I informed them that the IRS website stated that they began accepting them on the 14th the response was "OK you can go ahead then". Another clue.
When I finally got to speak to expert number 2 she asked for a copy of my return, which I was never given, and then told me that I would have to make a new appointment because my file was not available as it had been sent to headquarters for security purposes. I was then told that I should have called, at which point I told her that I did call, which was how I made that appointment in the first place. So now I have to take time out yet again to file my taxes, which I originally filed on 01-28-2013.
I fail to understand how your so called "trained" tax experts seem to know less about taxes than I do. I used a paid tax preparer for their expertise, which at this point I am not confidant that your company possesses. You are charging me over $350 for this service, which basically boils down to my walking your expert through my return, and waiting to find that beyond that you don't seem to have done anything at all. I cannot even be sure that it has even been filed yet because your office tells me, in the same phone call, that it can't be filed and when informed that it can be filed, that it was rejected. So after nearly three weeks since I first visited your office I am in exactly the same position I was before I stepped foot in your office, except for the fees you have charged me.
I am extremely disappointed with your service and believe me, I will not be referring friends to your service. I have been patient but since almost three week have passed and I have no idea what the status of my return actually is I feel it will be my duty to warn people about your service.
And on Feb 16 sent them this:

I should add that I paid my third visit to your office today. Only now has my return been filed. This despite the fact that on 01-28-2013 I was told that the return would be filed on 01-30-2013 and if it was not accepted then it would be refiled and an amended return filed when the IRS began accepting form 8863.
I am also troubled by the fact that when I called on 02-14-2013 that I was informed that the IRS was not accepting education benefits yet and when I informed them that they were accepting them that my return was rejected. I was informed in the office on 02-15-2013 that the IRS was not accepting education benefits yet and I had to inform them that the IRS was indeed accepting them. Now I find out today that my return was never rejected because it was never filed. I was also informed that I was on a list to be called, but since I was the one who had to inform your tax professionals that the IRS began accepting benefits on 02-14-2013 I find this rather dubious.
I am troubled by the fact that you claim to employ thoroughly trained tax professionals but my experience is that they are simply form-fillers. I was not offered any tax advice and the claim you make that all of your preparers know the tax code is rather suspicious. Had I not continued to contact your office and been insistent over this matter my tax return would still not be filed. So please tell me exactly what my $350 in fees is going to. It is clearly not training, and it clearly not qualified assistance. Your trained staff did not know which forms to fill out, did not follow through on any promise made, and quite frankly I could have stopped a stranger on the street and gotten equal service.

I was told that someone would contact me within 24 hours. 24 hours passed, then 48, and 72 and so on. I finally did hear from Liberty Tax, reminding me to tell all my friends to come in and get their taxes done. The office manager finally did call, leaving me a message on my phone declaring she had tried four times. Apparently it is company policy to try desperately to contact someone and never leave a message. She informed me that all employees of Liberty Tax are fully trained tax professionals, and that the reason that I, a non-tax professional knew more about taxes than the professional preparers of Liberty Tax was because the company computer had not yet informed them. That does not seem a reasonable explanation since these supposed professionals are supposed to be tax experts. She could not answer why I was given alternate answers to the same question.
She promised to get back to me. Weeks passed and she did not.
Now, two full months after I entered their doors I discover that my New York State taxes were never filed. I was told that they must have been trying to save me money, and that New York does not accept e-files. That is, by the way, yet another lie as New York does accept e-files, and in fact they prefer it. I was told that I was given the forms to mail myself on my first visit, despite the fact that despite three separate visits I still had no copies of any of my taxes. I now paid a fourth visit. I spent another hour just trying to get a copy of my taxes. The lone “professional” in the office said his boss would be there in about five minutes. He told this to the gentlemen who came in after me, and to the several people who called. Turns out she was coming in a couple of hours later. The couple that came in for an appointment with her turned around and left and they did not look happy. The big boss came in, who, coincidentally was the manager’s mother, and I was given forms to mail in. Two months after I first stepped foot in their office.
The next day I called the representative from the company who had promised me action, only to discover it was the same boss I had dealt with the day before. She could not help me at the time because she was not if the office but was out having lunch with her daughter, she informed me, but would call me as soon as she got back to the office. Of course there was no call.
“We guarantee our services 100% If you are not satisfied with our service, for any reason, we will refund your preparation fees.”
Or we will just stop returning your calls and hope you go away.
