LawnStarter Lawn mowing service is deplorable with no guarantees

BUYER BEWARE!

1. Prior to May 15, 2023 I left written explicit instructions online to the LawnStarter Inc. (LawnStarter) crew instructing them to please not cut my new grass too short pursuant to my TruGreen instructions. I also left online instructions for the LawnStarter crew not to put grass clippings on my brand new black mulch.

2. May 15, 2023, the LawnStarter crew cut my grass so close that in some places they cut the grass to almost the dirt thereby damaging my new grass and causing mowing stress Furthermore, they completely covered my plant beds' black mulch with grass clippings contrary to my instructions, and thereby completely ruined the recently completed mulch-work. Furthermore Conserva Irrigation examined a suspicious leak in my yard and found that: "Mainline irrigation shut off replaced due to lawn cut to (sic) low. Also the sprinkler head was broken as a result."

My damages are:

$200.00 Remove clippings

$525.53 Reseed lawn

$421.58 Repair irrigation system

$1,146.11 Total Damage

Lawn Starter Inc. Terms of Service, Paragraph 13. No Warranty and Paragraph 14. Limitation of Liability makes it crystal clear that no matter the circumstances LawnStarter Inc. takes no responsibility in any damage to their customer’s property yet they caused and costs me the actual damages listed below:

With total disregard for my express written instructions and with reckless disregard for common sense LawnStarter Inc.’s agents literally destroyed my lawn.

Desired outcome: They should take responsibility for my damages rather than mislead me and string me along. Buyers beware!!!

LawnStarter Lawn service

Lazy service. Canceled bc of morning rain and could have mowed at 2pm. Dry grass. Bright sun. Im a single mom living in a homeowner association. I needed help and you failed. I cant afford my own lawn mowing machine. I requested this service on a wednesday and nothing was scheduled until the weekend. I requested in a responsible amount of time when my grass was a reasonable length. I called support, was given one lame attempt to fix it and thats it. What will be 2 weeks and 4 rain-showers later and now im f^

LawnStarter Services paid for and never rendered

LawnStarter has been charging our credit card $43.96 every 2 weeks for lawn care we never received for a whole year. They came twice in April of 2022 and the service was very poor. The third time they arrived we told them we had a new service and to cancel LawnStarter. We were told that our service had been cancelled. They kept charging our credit card for the whole year, even through the winter months. Attached are pictures taken on 4/18/2023, 2 days after they claimed to have cut the grass on 4/16/2023. We have paid well over $1,000 and got absolutely nothing in return.

LawnStarter Lawn mowing

I called to get a lawn mowing service. The operator was very adamant that i cannot request a one time service, rather i have to take atleast 3 visits which are super costly. Then once that was agreed upon, the operator insisted that without the account being set up the order cannot be placed.. she confirmed over the phone that once account was set up and credit card info was available, she would 100% confirm that the crew is available.. I trusted them and completed my order not to receive an email a day later saying the crew is not available and service cannot be offered. I feel my privacy has been compromised and i was compelled to open an account and share my card details.

LawnStarter Mowing this past week.

Mowed after a rain. Jason Wescor. Yard was wet. Mower cut trenches of mud from the tires in the back yard. Did not trim along the fence or blow the patio debris. Has hit the corners of the house with the mower causing damage on two sides. Did not trim tall dandelions. A disaster of a day. Will not pay for this last mow. Please call [protected]

Have many pictures of damage.

Desired outcome: Repair the property damage on the corners of the house in the back yard. You should pay for the damage that was done. Grading the muddy tire trenches. Will not pay for this mow.

LawnStarter Leaf Removal

I’m not usually one to post online reviews, but I feel compelled to write one here in hopes I can prevent others from having a similar experience. I was quoted $148 for a leaf cleanup and paid it to have them come out. Crew comes out and does maybe half the job, then after a bunch of back and forth they said it would be another $200 to finish the cleanup. The original service was on January 7, it’s been nearly a month now, our yard looks terrible, and they are unwilling to come to any sort of compromise or resolution.

LawnStarter Lawn starter

This company is terrible! After I signed up for my service, every two weeks, they kept adding additional charges without my permission and charging my account. This company is a fraud and I don't think that the owner is aware of how this company has turned into a scam and they try to take advantage of people. One time they charged me $300 for a grass cut because they skipped my regular service 5 times so my grass can grow bigger and then can overcharge. I should of canceled then but gave them another chance. They cut my grass, which they leave grass bundles everywhere and do not blow the leaves off my porch...so this last time, they cut my grass, I almost skipped the service because my grass was so short. Well, they charged me long grass fee, an extra $100 when my service was supposed to be only $50 every two weeks. If you want unwanted charges to your account, if you want to get taken advantage of and then deal with unprofessional employees over the phone which by the way won't refund your money because they are a horrible company, then hire lawn starter! Such a horrible nightmare of experience and company!

LawnStarter Lawn service

I honestly don't have enough room to leave the amount of negative feedback I have to say. This is my second season with Lawnstarter, and this season has been the absolutely worst. I've had terrible cuts, multiple crew assignments, torn up lawn sod area from a crew that I had to reseed, and the latest -- a ridiculous "long grass fee" that I got charged for my last 2 cuts. There is NO way this was justified. Yes, I did have some very small areas where the grass was a bit taller than the rest, but those areas barely made up 10% of the entire lawn -- which is a medium sized lawn at best! And I got charged a $50 long grass fee?! I disputed the first time and LS only charged me $25 long grass fee. The second time the grass was even shorter before the cut, and I STILL GOT CHARGED THIS RIDCULOUS FEE. I'm so done with the service overall this season.

Desired outcome: Fix the damaged lawn area caused by the crew; STOP CHARGING UNJUSTIED LONG GRASS FEE; STOP CUTTING GRASS SO LOW.

LawnStarter Lawn service

Please do not waste your time or money using this company.

They hire any [censored] with a mower and a pick up truck and send them to your property. The never complete the mowing without having them to come back. They send different people every week.

They also cancel weekly due to not having a crew to do the work.

Do yourself a favor and don't use this company Lawnstarter

LawnStarter Improper billing

They were supposed to come and cut the grass. I'd left the gate open for them. When I got home, there was no evidence that any grass had been cut, but I had a notice from the app that the service had been completed. I took pictures of the lack of cutting and sent that to Lawnstarter via the app. They responded did I want to reschedule the service or did I want to take $15 off. I chose the $15 as the grass really hadn't needed cutting. A couple of days later, I see that Lawnstarter had billed and taken $31 dollars for a service that wasn't completed. Normal service cost is $46. I didn't think that the $15 off would be $15 off of something that wasn't done. That's extremely shady to charge me for incomplete service. I sent a message to Lawnstarter and have not received any response. I've actually had good service with them, but this situation is beyond crazy. Either they refund my money or I'm done with them and I'll put it on Facebook how shady they are.

Desired outcome: Refund of my $31.

Lawn Starter(OKC) was a gift from my children for my birthday and I tried for 3 months+, but told them to cancel as it was easier to just do it myself or get a local teen as they did what I wanted.

Edging to them is weedeating (no real edge) and the amount of cleanup before and after, again I might as well do it myself. Ask for 2 inches and get 1 if I was lucky, weedeater line to be picked up, uneven mows with strips totally missed and the hard surfaces were not blown off at all this LAST time. A long grass fee because THEY chose to cut it super short. Always in a hurry to be done and gone. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

LawnStarter Damage caused to vinyl siding by careless weed-eating.

On June 23rd, at approximately 10 am, a LawnStarter crew damaged my vinyl siding in four places with a weed-eater. Upon discovery of the damage a few hours later, I promptly notified the company, through their app as advised by LawnStarter. I sent several photos and explained what happened. A few days later I attempted to call but they said no one was available to discuss the matter but they were aware and would contact me. Thirty days later I have heard from no one.

Desired outcome: I would like the damage repaired.

Apparently, there are no background checks. Lawnstarter has a convicted scam artist listed on their New Port Richey page and I've notified them numerous times. They don't think your valuables are worth protecting and so I would not trust this service.

I hired LawnStarter to come out to do my lawn. The first team that showed up skipped many parts of the front yard and completely skipped the backyard. In the front yard there were some dirt areas where there was a bit of scattered grass they just decided to skip the entire area. They didn't edge the front yard at all, nor did they weed eat the sides of the house where the grass was growing against the brick. There were also patches of tall grass where apparently they forget where they already went and just missed large patches. Contacted support to get a different crew out to redo my lawn and was offered a measly $15 discount. Declined the "discount" and they sent a new crew out today. This time they mowed the front yard decently, but AGAIN completely skipped the backyard! They claim because I had a lock on my gate that is why they skipped my backyard. Well if you setup a lawnstarter account, they ask details of your property such as, are there pets, is it in a gated community, do you need a key fob etc. etc. They also ask "Is there a lock on the gate, is it key or combo, and if combo what is the code?" I gave them the 4 digit combo to my padlocks. They have the dang code, as well as my phone number, and instead of finishing the job they decided to skip out on it because they had an excuse to use to get out of it. Why do they bother to even ask for this type of info if they are just going to completely ignore it? I will never use them again, I will never recommend them to anyone else, and I am hiring someone else for sure.

I signed up for lawn starter in September there was a promo that states your first cut would be $20 they charged me full price second cut was not done on time I had Realtors coming for home showing and person was a no-show came three days later second cut I canceled my service a gentleman showed up three days ago to cut a lawn that had been clearly manicured from someone else he started to cut I had to run outside and ask him why is he cutting a yard that is clearly cut he went to my backyard before I got to him in the front left my gate open my dog which is a pitbull was out of my yard once again they go in and take another $56 out of my account so I am at two cuts for $256 please give me a call [protected] and associate named Daniel refused to provide supervisor or manager assistance

LawnStarter Property damage

My front door was demolished by lawn crew when struck by a propelled rock. I am waiting for reimbursement for $800. I have sent invoice that I had to pay out of pocket due to awful claim service. I need this reimbursement right away. There's no place to call and no one to talk to when you dial their 1-800 number. I need help to get my money back for my damaged door.

LawnStarter Lack of Grass cutting

It's been a month since they have cut my grass. I have called at lest once a week and they are usually very nice and they promise someone will be out to cut it and they give me a two day window but no one ever shows up. Now I have a citation from my municipality! By the way speaking with a manager is impossible and they tell you there's no corporate nor a CEO!

LawnStarter Lawncare

On August 11 at 7 p.m., I received a notice that my work crew was on its way. I went and unlocked my gate. I was home the entire evening. They did not show up. On August 12, I received a "service completed. How does your yard look?" message. I responded that the work was not done. I then received a notice that the mow was rescheduled to the 21st -24th as the crew claimed the property was inaccessible. That was false the gate was open and I was home. I contacted the crew. The crew promised to come out the 13th. The crew did not show up, again. I contacted customer service and the crew. Customer service scheduled the crew to come on the 18th and assured me that if the crew was not available, they would send another crew. No one came. On the 19th, my crew put in a reschedule, changing the service date to the 20-23. I contacted my crew and customer service again. Customer service created new tickets, but has not responded with a solution, only "your matter will be handled in the order received." The work crew promised to show up on the 20th. Again, they did not show. I contacted customer service again and received a 3 work ticket number and another, "your matter will be handled in the order received message." It has been 12 days since the crew was supposed to come cut my lawn. They have never shown up and Customer Service has never sent another crew.

Desired outcome: My lawn mowed ASAP

LawnStarter Lawn service

LawnStarter was ok at first, only couple issues, always rescheduled and crew would come later and later in day. Finally ended service when they mowed through our fruit tree, basically cutting it down. They didn't have the common decency to tell us about it, but we found it about 30 minutes after they left. I immediately let LawnStarter know and sent pictures. They basically treated us as liars despite prompt notice and photographic evidence. Then they had us jump through hoops to try and get reimbursed for a new tree. We are still arguing with them about it! Customer service number was. I help either they don't do anything to resolve issues! Horrible service and would not recommend!

LawnStarter Lawn mowing.

Signed up and was said I was committing to 3 mows bi-weekly. They scheduled someon to mow on June 11. They came on the 27 and mowed . No one has been back since. They have rescheduled two different mowers none of which have showed nor answered any texts. Finally after being assigned twice texted and apologized for not coming the first two times but had personal problems and equipment difficulties. Assured me he would be here the next day. Of course he has not showed . What kind of business is this and how does it allowed to stay in business. I have asked managers to call me back. They gave but left a message but never about complaints just that sometimes they do not have mowers for some areas. It has been over a month with now mowing. They charge twice as much for long grass . Maybe that's their plan, except still no one has came? They have a horrible system. Staff on phone, and mowers .

Desired outcome: Someone to mow my lawn now at no cost and consider it my third mowing. And a manager to actually call and talk to me .

LawnStarter They scammed me

I signed up for their 19.99 promo. I then signed up for another one of my properties. I was charged 79.99 for both a week later (I had bi-weekly service) after a 2 week of cancellation and no shows from crews I canceled. They've showed up 3 more times even though I canceled. I already hired a friend to mow. They still showed up didn't Mow and charged me. Over hour long hold times. No call backs, can't speak to anyone, unanswered emails. They're scamming me and stealing from me.
