Kings Island Disability discrimination and unsafe instruction

Hello,

Unfortunately I have serious issues that need to be addressed. We visited your park in Mason, Ohio on July 16th 2023. On arrival we were impressed, it was very busy but clean, and the staff seemed kind. However, my wife was informed that she was not allowed to go down the water slides because of her prosthetic leg. She has a below knee amputation, and she wears a secured plastic prosthetic on her left leg. As she was going to go down the water slide, I’m not sure of the name of the slide, she got to the top and the attendant told her that she was not allowed to go down the slide. Embarrassed and rightfully upset, she had to walk back down, and not enjoy the park. I read on your website the rides she would not be able to go on, and that one was NOT listed. Actually none of the water rides were listed. Embarrassed and worried that she would be shamed, she did not try to ride any other slide or rollercoaster afterwards. I am appalled that you have those rules, or that your employee doesn’t know the rules.

And then my 12 year old daughter and I were getting on a slide, the blue twisting one, and the attendant first had us turn around so they could look at our backside, which made my daughter uncomfortable in her bathing suit. I asked why and was told to make sure there was no metal, which I understand not wanting to damage your slide, but this seemed like some sort of perversion, and a waste of time.

The same attendant told me to cross my legs and put my hands behind my head, which I did. While going down the water slide, I was thrown around and flipped over on to my stomach and face. This caused my neck and face to hurt. I informed the attendant at the bottom and she had management come over, and I was told I was not supposed to cross my legs. This upset me because I sustained injuries, and my daughter could have.

And I will also add that there was a constant smell of marijuana the entire time we were in the park.

I would love to hear back from you on this.

Thank you.

Desired outcome: Reimbursement for the cost we sustained driving 4 hours there to only be embarrassed and injured.

Kings Island Customer service

Yesterday, June 23rd, around 5:30pm my daughter left her lights on so she needed help getting her car jumped. She went back to the front gate and asked for help. They told her they could not do anything and would not let her back in to talk to security for help. So she was stranded because the [censored] would not do anything. She is 17 years old so it was not about curfew. What kind of idiots do nothing to help someone like that. Thankfully a kind person overheard the conversation and was able to give her a jump. But really KI, come on. It is [censored] that they did nothing to help.

Kings Island Rider safety/discrepancy in rules

We are gold pass holders and have been for a very long time. We are avid King's Island fans until June 21, 2023. My group had 14 kids. All different size and heights. We had 2 that were unable to ride any ride but that bat. These same kids were there in April and rode EVERY ride but Orion and Flight of Fear. They have not changed in height or size. They were unable to ride the racers or mystic timbers. What good is a pass when you don't know if you will be able to ride. These two boys wear 38/40 size pants. One is 5'11 and one is 6'3. I have NEVER had this issue but what I have noticed is the workers don't even try to make sure you are sitting back and they didn't even try to lock down the safety harnesses/bars. These kids were humiliated and now do not want to return. This us unfair as we have noted many people bigger than them riding rides on the same date. I'm disgusted by this and will likely not renew my 7 passes.

Desired outcome: Do better! Make your seats accommodate more people AND make your workers at least put in the effort to put people in the seat when it is obvious they are NOT the biggest person on the ride. It's 2023 not 1972.

Kings Island Season Pass

I renewed a Gold Season Pass with a food pass last season, for my 14 year old grandson. I am 66 years old and unable to do K.I. So after the fact, you makes rules where he can only enjoy 6 hours a day from 10-4 without an adult. I can’t afford to pay for a pass for me to sit in the shows all day. I have asthma and back issues, and would never have purchased this pass under these conditions. My grandson has been going for a couple years now and has done great on his own with friends. Ridiculous that a few can ruin it for many. I feel absolutely ripped off.

Desired outcome: Since we haven’t even had one trip yet, I would request a refund of my pass cost, and the additional friend ticket I bought for $29.99 which also won’t be used.

Kings Island Family restrooms

The family bathrooms over by action zone, I seen a couple walk into the bathroom, and me and my family could hear them in the bathroom doing the nasty. I had to take my family away from that, you guys should have more security around the family restrooms for this kind of reason. This is a family park and there should be no reason for that kind of behavior. And plus when they came out you could smell weed.

Kings Island Premium dining/snack plan

Took 5 of my grandkids yesterday (6/21). Knowing we'd be there all day, I decided to purchase the Premium dining/snack/drink package at $46.99 each, totaling more than $250. There is a 90 minute restriction between an entree/snack and understand that but the "snack" selection is VERY limited and not specified anywhere. So ice-cream, icee's, cotton candy and such was NOT included. Very disappointing, especially for the kids. Do not recommend purchasing these types of plans.

Kings Island Management and Operations

This year has been a total waste of money for a seasonal pass. I have been a pass holder for many years and had two separate incidents that not only trampled on my plans but also my grandchildren.
I was there the day the shut the park down because of unruly juveniles and everyone suffered the consequences of early park closures. I was also asked to leave an area because of whistling to an employee. Another customer told security that I was whistling at young girls, very slandering and demeaning… then when security asked me to leave they didn't first talk to the employee for the fact and then was standing up to me in attacking my character, defamation. I should have had Mason police come in and make a report then charged the park with defamation of character and slander but left the park and never returned. My credit card was absconded at the park as well and they had my pin, $2, 200 from four states and tracked down to Georgia on last attempted charge. Everything from arrogance to not having any facts, gouging prices, early closure and long line waits…. I will never step back in that park again.

Desired outcome: Season pass payment refund

Kings Island Poor management

It's Saturday evening August 7th, 2021 and I've been waiting in line with my children to ride Orion for 45 minutes. At 9:40 the ride stops because of the fireworks display at 10:00. The fireworks completed at 10:05 and the ride did not start back up until 10:30. Explain to me why the ride shuts down 50 minutes for a 5 minute firework display? Another reason, even though managed by Cedar Fair similar to Cedar Point, that Kings Island is poorly managed and not worth the expenses to enjoy entertainment. I highly regret paying over $400 for gold passes for my family and will never do so again. If professional enough, please reply with your feedback, although I expect to not hear from poor management.

Kings Island Soak City

I'm very furious, for I spent a lot of money to come to Kings Island and we were in Soak City and my daughter was very excited to be at a Water Park. We rode Remdezvous Run, my daughter and I who meet the height requirement, barely. My daughter loves the first ride, and wanted to go again. When we got back up to the top, there was a shift change and the guy measured her and told her she couldn't ride, I told him we were just on it and he said he didn't care she was too short and went on and embarrassed her after she just rode it with her cousin. Then called the manager who went on and said that's the rules and she shouldn't have rode it in the first place. This completely embarrassed my daughter and ruined her whole experience that she was completely done for the entire day. This needs to be made right.

Desired outcome: Full Refund

Kings Island Long access to kings island

Please note that We have subscribed to Kings Island in 09/28/2021 and we got the five gold pass.
(me, my wife, and 3 children)
Our subscription was on the basis that I would benefit from kings island for a full year, what happened is that after one month of our subscription, Kings Island was closed for SEVEN months and during these seven Months, the monthly amount was deducted from my account.
kindly note that we were not AWARE that the closure would take place for all this time, and the agent who helped us to get the kings island gold passes was also not informed us of this closure before we subscribe.
Therefore, I hope that you can reconsider our subscription in a different way and to be able to count the start date for us in May, because to miss seven months of the year is a lot.
Thanks for understanding!

Kings Island Nobody is replying to my requests for communication

Hi. I have been trying to contact the Head person Mike Koontz, but he refused to reply. I was am employee from 1986 to 1997. I documented a list of Hostile Working Environment Situations and I am willing to share them with these people in Good Faith, but nobody is replying...

I returned for employment in either 2014 or 2016, was hired but somebody "behind the scenes " kept sabotaging me, and siccing the cops on me. These people refused to divulge their names and badge numbers. THIS IS A FEDERAL CRIME. Does anybody in ANY level of competent government care at ALL about this?

There is a LOT more info, but I will stop here. The people who inflicted upon us are probably still there, because they have NOT been removed, and imprisoned...

Desired outcome: Verbal Discourse

Earlier I shared my complaints with a lady named Karen Terenzi in the Corporate headquarters in Sandusky, but She said that she forwarded my complaints to two other people. I asked who these others were, but she stopped communicating with me.
I have also filed complaints with the Ohio State Board of Agriculture, and the local news media, but nobody is replying to either!

Kings Island visit

My family and I have been coming here for years! We went as kids, and now we take our kids. We visit the park at least 10-12 times a year. However our last visit October 12 was a complete bummer. We drove hours to visit the park. And this visit we waited a quite a bit of time for the rides which is normal but rides kept closing down as we were already waiting for awhile and made us get out of the lines. Happened more than once this visit. We arrived at 11am right when opened. Unfortunately we only got to ride 5 big rides because of the rides kept being shut down. I get things happen but it was ridiculous. And we ate at a BBQ places and the young man working charged us double for two meals and we didn't realize until we walked away and he didn't give us a Receipt. Went back and told him he charged us double for food. Meals were like 11 something after tax and it came up to 45 dollars for two meals. He said without our receipt he couldn't do anything. I told him to look for ours that he threw away and he refused. Very disappointed with our family trip.

Kings Island handicapped and autism epilepsy access considerations

We are a family of 3. 2/3 are severely disabled. Our 19 year old son that we have Legal guardianship of because of his severe Autistic/Epileptic symptoms required several "special requirements" that we went to Customer Service about both days we visited Kings Island. We bought the meals and parking pass from Kroger for $75 x 3 for 2 days=$450 and stayed at local motel since we live in Elizabethtown Kentucky. We asked both days at Customer service for a few small changes to accommodate our son (I am in a wheelchair {dad} my wife rides with our son every ride.
We asked customer service to provide more flexibility regarding the time scheduling that is 30 minutes from each attractions exit because our impaired son can't cope with excessive waiting between rides. Both days customer service refused. We also asked that they write on the white special needs paper they gave us to show ride operators that it stated that our impaired son couldn't be rushed excessively into rides by operators. In essence, not pushed into the seat and have the restraining bar slammed down roughly. Both days we brought this to the customer service office at the front of the park. Both days customer service said, "sorry we can't write that in the instructions for the ride operators". On the second day from being pushed into rides roughly. Most operators did well a few did not. That and the enforced 30 minute wait caused excessive stress which should have been handled on a "case-by-case" basis.
One incident, on "The Beast", where they couldn't find the "online photo" frustrated our son on the 2nd day as the accumulated stress of his particular needs being ignored because "customer service" said it was both too busy July 25th to provide the extra efforts by staff. The photo being unavailable from *The Beast" was so important to our son, and it was missing that he began have severe symptoms that indicated a Siezure was imminent. We were told that sitting in the front row of the "Beast" meant we couldn't provide our impaired son with the pictures of him on "the beast".
We have season passes to 5 theme parks and the arbitrary refusal to make accomodations for our son just doesn't happen over the past 16 years of frequent theme park visits including Disney World and the Kennedy Space center. Plus Kentucky Kingdom, Dollywood, Holiday World, Elitch Gardens, and Wild Adventure.
The results of the lack of special accomodations led directly to our son becoming so distressed that he's required medical intervention and he's so distressed by the experience that we are uncertain of his future. We repeatedly asked customer service for a "special needs" change in wait times, handling of him getting into rides and the missing photo from "the beast'. How severe is his suffering -- he required immediate medical intervention due to stress induced anxiety and he has become increasingly agitated.
Telling us that "his specific needs" being as impaired as he is, "would be unfair to the other patrons". Our son who has NO history of mental illness has been prescribed emergency medications to keep him calm because he was so upset and agitated by our 2nd day a Kings Island that we may have to have him hospitalized and rechecked for Siezure activity. He is 6'5" tall and 253 lbs. and very involved with the Special Olympics. Hence he is to large for us to manage if he gets upset which is why my 50 year old wife goes on every ride with him to insure that he doesn't become agitated. Now we may have to put him the hospital until he regains his composure because being severely autistic, subject to sensory overload (wears hearing protectors and a padded jacket despite the heat) and other things which aren't an issue at the other aforementioned theme parks because they DO MAKE ACCOMODATIONS. We really wanted to be able to bring him to your Theme Parks on a regular basis. Now we have a severe Autistic Epileptic crisis that has jeopardized his future and ours. There should be some sort of way to give this very impaired incompetent human a happy ending so he can safely return to Kings Island unless you just don't want to accommodate him and have guests like us "slow everything down which is unfair to our other patrons" - customer service's response on Thursday July 25.

Kings Island customer service

On 5/27/19 we filed a lost/found report. For 7 days we could see the phone. Showed it to the ride workers they said yes we can & will retrieve it after hours. 7days later it was still there . We did this for 7 days. Finally I went to customer service supervisor after being told multiple excuses being being treated rudely. He made sure it was retrieved. Next day & everyday since I was told they don't know what happened to it that who ever found it did not turn it in. It was out of their hands. Ok you leave it sit there for a week even though they claim to walk it nightly. Boss makes them do their job then boom. phone gone not their problem any more. nothing they can do. Wrong. They get rude tell me next time don't bring a phone? not their problem? It was in his pocket yes it flew out on Banshee along with his glasses. We could see it couldn't get past fence. Sat for 7 days. Them it along with everything around it disappears. I think not. Either they took it personally or thru it away. BAd service bad employee's bad management. To keep a locker all day is same as a ticket. Thanks for teaching our young people how bad people really are turning in complaints do nothing.

Kings Island nothing being done about 3 boys running up and grabbing my 12 yr old daughter while yelling loudly

On May 31, 2019 we were standing at the turkey leg stand paying for food. All of a sudden 3 teenage ( 15-17 yr olds) come running up on us and screamed loudly while grabbing my 12 yr old daughter by the waist. We were advised that there are no cameras on that busy intersection right by the entrance, yet we have employees as witnesses. We made a Incident report and followed up continuously to see if anything was done. Nothing. We are gold pass holders and just want our money back because we will not be returning. At no time is it acceptable for a young girl to be touched . We have called for 2 weeks almost trying to get our passes refunded over this incident and just keep getting the run around. I guess I need to get the news involved! That's my next step! Trisha Shirley/Nicholas Sedam [protected]

Kings Island passes

I would like to know why there isn't either a reduced price for children or a preschool pass, why do we need to pay full price for a half size child?
They can't even ride half the things in kiddie land until they're a certain height, and they really can't ride anything in the rest of the park.
I want to buy a passes for my grandchildren but can not afford the same price as my pass.
If you could send me an answer to why this is that would be great.

Kings Island customer service

Went to get season passes for me and my kids, everything was fine, I supposed to get the payments plan, I signed all the annoying agreements and I used my Visa card, later that night I found that they charged me for $473 dlls, I contacted Customer Service, she told me that I signed all the agreements and it's nothing they can do, she was rude and didn't let me talk, asked me if I know the girl who sold me the passes, how I supposed to know her name? Bad service.

Kings Island guest services and general experience

Me and my friend decided that this year we were going to buy gold passes for both of our families. We each bought 5 gold passes. We diceded that we would go just us and the teens on Friday and take the whole family Saturday. We should have known not to return just for the incidents from friday. First of all most everyone in that park is incredibly rude. You work at an amusement park, put a smile on and change your dismissive tones. Second horribly terrifying situation was that we decided to ride the (our 2nd ride) Invetago and as we were cranked up and left hanging facing the ground for almost 30 mintues with a 13 and 15 year old thinking they were going to die. The first woman we spoke to after finally getting down was very kind but as we went to guest services to explain the 2 fast passes we were given for "time lost" was the phrase they kept using, just didn't feel sufficient considering they we were thinking about not coming back out of fear. They behaved like we were over seeking compensation. Well if we seemed like that hmmmm i wonder why? What's the price on your child's on own life or just traumatic events.. We were simply asking for something different because we didn't really want to ride the rides anymore. But we were dismissed feeling like we had done something wrong in the end. Day 2, Saturday. We decided to give KI another chance because of the smaller kids and other family members who didn't get to go. Second ride of the day once again. My boyfriend lost our keys on Banshee! Oh no! But someone said they spotted them. I had my baby and 3 small children with me and live an hour away, so i rushed up to guest services and told them what was happening and begged them to please go look or get them. I was met again with a very nasty man saying there was nothing he could do and I'd have to wait till after 10 at night to even have someone go look. I explained to this man that those are the only keys i have for my car and house and what am i supposed to do if come 10 they couldn't find them?! I just needed to know if they were at least mine or not so i could make other arrangements before it became to late to do anything at all and i was stuck. He still dismissed me after this i was angry and sick of all of them. I explained what happened the day before and he rolled his eyes and said that was just a mechanical issue... Actually that was mine and my CHILDS LIFE in the hands of God is how it felt to us but thanks for acting like our trama doesn't matter. So i was getting no where and he said he'd call rides to see what they could do, i couldn't look at him any longer so i left my number and decided to take matters into my own hands and walked over to Banshee. By the time this man called back to say they couldn't help me, someone was there the shut down the ride to look for my keys. They never found them saying they must have fell threw the grate net and that they would look more and then call me. I never received any calls from anyone and ended up spending over 300 dollars to have a locksmith come make a new key for my car. I am a very unsatisfied customer. I know it our fault our keys got lost by not taking proper messures but they could habe been kinder and tried more at guest services. Rather than ask how old my kids were and then basically tell me to fk off. I want something done, I want these situations recognized.
