Keiser University Loans/tuition

I owe almost $30k in loans for an Associates Degree! How is that possible? Why did I NEVER receive any of my loan money? I attended back in the early 2000's and strongly feel as if Keiser was fraudulent with my student aid. Not one penny ever was given to me, it was all kept for 'classes' and 'books'. Now that I have children, and many friends with children I tell them to avoid this school like the Plague!

Desired outcome: Partial Refund

Keiser University Education

They set up payments on their own schedule in order to confuse the students and itemize additional things so they can charge you more shouldn’t “educational costs “ be tuition? If you drop out they figure out a way that you keep paying for classes you’re not even taking! I guess that’s “genius” in the business world! But it leaves students depressed in an ever growing depressed world. Shame on Keiser!

Desired outcome: Educate future students

Keiser University Financial aid

This complaint is regarding financial aid at Keiser University. When I initially reached out to start my graduate degree, I specifically inquired about teacher benefits, scholarships, and the possibility of using my VA loan. The response from the financial aid office was unhelpful, as they seemed dismissive and non-responsive. After dedicating time to research, I discovered that this issue is a common occurrence at the school.

Unlike other institutions' financial aid offices, which are willing to investigate and address specific questions, Keiser University's financial aid office has not been accommodating. Furthermore, the cost of attending Keiser is excessively high, making it challenging for me to afford the program. Moreover, the duration of the program has been prolonged to two years, even though it was meant to be completed in one year. As a result, this situation is concerning for the general public as it affects the overall accessibility and affordability of education.

Desired outcome: To refund all credit as a teacher, va readiness and stop pushing loans on people. This school charges 8000 for i class

Keiser University Cost and learning

I have over $45,000 in student loans from this university and only a stupid AA. They will do everything they possibly can to keep you on for as long as they can grab money. After I had capped out, their attention was gone.

It was a place where I learned nothing. My daughter had much more difficult assignments in high school.

You can cheat your way through most, if not all, classes and pass with a decent grade. That's so sad and such a fraud. As a result of my frustration, I stopped doing the work for my classes, which ultimately resulted in me failing them. In most if not all classes, you are required to post every week and interact with other students online. That is not learning. When it comes to learning nothing and paying a lot of money, this is the place to be.

Keiser University Baking and pastry arts program [protected]

I was in the Baking and Pastry Arts program. I was told that I would have the opportunity to study in top kitchens and learn from top chefs. The entire time I was enrolled in the program we did not have a chef. We were instead expected to learn from unqualified teachers and ourselves. I also had to do majority of my schooling from my tiny college apartment due to the pandemic. I was only at the school for one year and now have enough debt to last someone a lifetime. I knew that when I decided to go to Keiser that it would be expensive. However, I at least thought that I would get something out of it that was remotely worth the money. Instead, I now have a very expensive piece of paper and close to no knowledge to back it up. You can't promise a good facility and good teaching if you're not going to provide it. Especially at such a high price. What I experienced is extremely wrong and unfair. Keiser should have to do something about it.

Desired outcome: Financial reimbursement for inadequate teachers and classrooms.

Keiser University University / grad school / cost

I am writing this comprehensive review as a form of complaints against the University. First, let me say the school has lack of operation. Throughout the years that I have attended the school things seem to work and the University was for profit. They quickly changed to non-profit, while they raised tuition without even notified the students. At that time, 2010 counselors lied to students about their placement. What reputation does Keiser have? How did they help their alumni?

I have experienced racism even after I graduated. The student's services promised that they were going to work with students on the CV but they were nowhere to be found. It was false, they never even commented on my CV.
Everglade school is partner to Keiser and they are operating as the same. I don't even understand how one can buy another.

We need a coalition of students to continue suing Keiser for falsified student's loans and made false promised while they have never kept.
I am a graduate of Keiser and they did not even want to hire me because I was African American.

Desired outcome: Cancel or erased students loans or refund me all of my money.

Keiser University Misinformation / fraud

I was told when I enrolled the nursing program would be fully online UNTIL I went for my clinicals which would only be 1-2 days a week. After signing all my FAFSA and completing a course in a month the nursing director told me I would need to be there 5 days a week and that it is a "full time" job. I'm a stay at home mom to infant twins. The whole reason I applied for Keiser was because Kevin Perrine sold me on just how wonderful their flexibility was for their students. I would have never enrolled if I would have been properly informed about what my classes were going to be. I had to drop from Keiser due to my inability to be on campus full time. My full time job is taking care of my children. Because of their misinformation I am now in debt as they refuse to drop the charges. I am being unfairly charged as I was misinformed by their employee. I only completed one class and was only there a month but yet they still want my full tuition. It has damaged my credit and I'm sure my ability to get more FAFSA if I choose to in the future. This school is a scam and could care less about providing correct information and helping their students. The only option they gave me to resolve was to pay it, or go against the Keiser board and fight it. Upon being told by the Dean that I must have misunderstood, I realized going in front of a Keiser employee board would be useless. Take your money elsewhere!

Desired outcome: Charges dropped

NO nursing degree is completely on line.

Clinical practice IS nursing.

A no-no for the school to tell you on line only.

Hope you have that in writing & sue.

Keiser University Enrollment

I called Keiser to enroll after I saw their commercial on TV. I called and explained my situation to them. I am a single mother who is a convicted felon and I realized the mistakes that I have mad and need to change my life for the sake of my children. If I choose to enroll will my felonies be a problem? NO I would just have to write a letter to the board explaining why I think I deserve a degree. I (being young and Naïve) thought okay. I also asked about my diploma as I got it from a correspondence school and was told by a person whom was not credible leading me to ask keiser counselor Isabel Valenzuela. I faxed a copy of the High School Diploma they told me that it was accredited Diploma, because of the answers she gave I chose to enroll in their Medical Assisting Program I broke my ankle and was put on a academic drop. They wanted 7,000 dollars to return. I went into the south Florida community college to enroll where I left off only to find out that according to The South Florida Community College my High School Diploma was nothing but a piece of paper. I researched it my self and it is registered to a substitute teacher whos license expired in 1980. Now because they made believe that I had a chance but really did not. inability to benefit for two reasons!. I am a convicted felon 2. I did not have a accredited High School Diploma.

The person always state that they will place me on the Do Not Call list but I continue to receive calls all day asking for a Loretta. I don't have any idea how they got my number but this has to stop. I never requested information.

Keiser University School

The Financial advisor Leroy Lashley at Keiser University had me fill out my financial aid application and the military scholarship paperwork all through email. I signed everything electronically. He told me I would be approved for up to $1500 to cover my books considering my books. I ended up withdrawing from the medical
Assisting program 6 months ago because one of the professors wasn't being fair and because I had enough with the whole program. Every time I purchased all the books needed for each course from the bookstore until I withdrew, I was able to purchase them with my financial aid from the keiser bookstore. To me, that means I have financial aid right? How can you purchase books with financial aid if you don't have it? Better yet, I was told, I had my military scholarship. Well today, 6 months later. I receive an email stating I have ten days to pay what I owe to keiser or I'm being turned in to collection? Whaaaaat? I called the Busar department. They told me I never paid $100 to withdraw from the program and I owe the rest in book fees which like I said I have been paying with 6 months before with my financial aid/scholarship money that Leroy Lashley also stated in emails that I have saved and stated I would never have to pay back. Keiser Univeristy has not called me about this money, never emailed be before this, never sent me a bill, for 6 months. But this is not mine to pay. Not at all. This is just their way to get money I don't owe from me! Really?! When I questioned Leroy back in September about this financial aid and scholarship he assured me I had nothing to worry about. He said he had no idea why it hadn't been approved yet and he would push the word order through. Yet, back on 05/15/18 is when I filled out my paperwork for my financial aid and scholarship. Four months? Shouldn't someone be approved before you allow them to even purchase books for their courses? This school needs to be shut down. I'm going to sue them for all they have.

Keiser University transcripts

18 years ago I went to Keiser College to discuss my future education. At the time I had a 3 year old son and was not sure if going back to school while also working full time was achievable for me. The school kept me in a room explaining to me that if I couldn't do it there would be no recourse and that I should give it a try. I borrowed money from my dad and took out loans. I completed 3 classes and then decided it was too much I never saw my son I worked and did school nothing else. Since that time I have paid off thousands in student loans for those three classes After paying off my loans and losing my job I decided it was time to go back to school. Keiser has refused to send my transcripts making me lose my financial aid for my current classes. I finally after several phone calls and ignored correspondence by mail, was told I owe even more money for classes I did not attend. I tried to make a settlement offer but the school has not responded to my emails. My deadline to get this resolved is tomorrow and the school has not even contacted me to reject my offer. I am now being kicked out of classes that I have attended for four weeks and have lost my financial aid. I believe this school lied to me from the start and now have hindered me from continuing my education. Please advise on what my next step should would be.

Keiser University unprofessional/ scam

My wife has a foreign Masters Degree that had been evaluated by a Florida State approved institution. They insisted that they needed my wife to get it re-evaluated by a company that they used. After spending the money and repeated calls over a period of weeks Michele at the New Port Richey, FL campus never returned my wife's calls and every time promising to get her degree plan evaluated and would call her back but never did. Completely unprofessional. They clearly have no interest in an individuals education but are so arrogant and unprofessional it appears they don't even want your money!

Keiser University signed me up and forgot about me

I attended and was royally screwed! I completed 4 months of course prep for their nursing program. Feb to may 2016 was the worst experience i ever had! Right from the beginning I didn't feel comfortable cramming a large work load into just 4 weeks. My mind couldn't absorb it that fast! I spoke with admissions and they kept telling me its o.k., you will do better next time, every month they would say, next time... I was not doing well and that wore on my self esteem. They told me to go get tested for a learning disability which I never had, and that would cost me over $1200 to be tested to get help from them...un-heard of! I told them at that time I was not paying or attending for their overpriced courses any more! I left that school and they never contacted me in any way shape or form. Now a year and half later, come to find out they didn't exit my loans properly, over charged me for a semester that i didn't attend and now its affecting my credit. I have no idea how to fix this! I am so lost and confused to why this ever happened...any help would be appreciated!

Keiser University unethical behavior

Hello my name is Remona Walcott and I currently attend Keiser University Online. When I first joined Keiser everyone was extremely nice and helpful. I had one issue during my course of schooling and from there I realized that I am basically on my own when it comes to getting any problems rectify and that's absolutely fine. After my 4th or 5th class I went from getting updates such as emails or calls to getting none at all. All of the "I will be here to walk you through if you ever need anything" was out of the door. But that's common, I've been the one making the calls and emails making sure that I'm not blind-sided by anything and sadly I was. In November I received refund check just before thanksgiving. I called Brad in admissions and asked him basically how was I looking? I knew that I was passing and I wanted to make sure that everything was going to be in order prior to me starting my clinicals. He told me everything is fine however I won't be starting my clinicals in January because they've already picked all the students for that start date I would be starting in May. Which startled me because when I sat down with my sister and Brad it was always a start date of January. But I didn't fuss I proceeded to ask him about my other options such as changing schools so that I can start earlier in which he wasn't really helpful with but I understand he wants me to stay with Keiser and that's fine. Then in December I got a call from Jennifer Borrows about needing to take over a class because I got a C and I needed at least a B to get into the nursing program which I was very  edgy bout. Because I took this class in September and I spoke with Brad in November. Why didn't Brad tell me that I didn't score high enough to get into the nursing program? Which made me question if he even looked at my grades when I called. I was frustrated but I got over it pretty quickly because he did tell me clinicals start in May so I could get in this class, pass it and get it out of the way. While speaking with Jennifer I inquired about financial aide. She told me after I submitted my grade forgiveness paperwork she will contact whomever in financial aide and we will get everything taken care of prior to starting class on January 8th. I checked my email and noticed I never received the grade forgiveness contract so I called the school January 3rd and spoke with Jennifer Borrows she said she had more than one email address for me that's why I didn't get it. However I am active on both email addresses and never received anything. She then told me she would send it right away and I just need to fill it out and send it back. As soon as I got the contract I printed it, signed it and faxed it back to the school. I called to ensure she got it she said yes she has to turn it in and everything should be good. I then inquired about financial aide and she told me if financial aide needs any additional information or signatures from me they would contact me. Her response did not sit well with me but this her profession so I trusted her. I emailed her to see if all the paperwork was set and she said I'm all set. I inquired again about financial aide and I got no response. January 8th was the starting date for my class I got an email from my instructor stating that she missed me in class today and to please let the school know if I am dropping the class. I called my instructor immediately and she told me that she is an on campus class. I apologized and told her I am an online student and I will get it all straightened out. I called the school and they switched me immediately I again inquired about financial aid and the lady told me everything checks out on her end. I said can I please speak to someone in financial aid? She said if I would like I can make an appointment but as of right now she sees no issues. I scheduled an appointment to see someone and there is where I was told I have to return the money that was given to me. Now I understand I added a class and this is the procedure BUT if Bras had looked at my grades in NOVEMBER when I called him the money would still be in my account and I would have handed it right back then and there. If I had a chance to meet with financial aide prior to starting this class I would have had the option to sit out a semester or do what ever that would have been cost efficient to me. I did not have that choice, I feel like I was tricked and my only option is to get a private loan which means more debt or pay monthly which I can not afford. I am writing to you to see if something can be done. I believe preparation is the key to anything that you do and I was not properly prepared or advised of what adding a new class would do to me financially before starting. I feel betrayed and blind sided and I really don't want this to happen to anyone else. I am now blocked from my online course and unable to continue because of this situation. Can you help me please? Again my name is Remona Walcott

Keiser University financial fraud

When I applied with Keiser University my expected graduation date was supposed to be April 2017 so my funding package was created ahead of time until that date. When November 2016 came around I noticed that I still had 3 classes left, so when I got a call from Keiser stating that I needed to schedule a exit exam because I was about to graduate I asked how that was possible considering I still had 3 classes left. The person I spoke with looked into it and said someone else needed to call me back. I then received a call a few days later from my academic advisor stating there was a mistake and somehow my file ended up in the April graduation pile which mind you, my enrollment forms and financial forms all have April as my graduation date. So she said that would request an extension for my financial aid coverage which she then told me was approved and I would be covered for the last 3 classes. I then received a call from Keiser towards the beginning of December stating that there was a mistake with my financials and my last class would not be covered and it was going to be $2, 000. I explained that I did not have money and was told I would be covered so then Keiser academic advisor then told me to apply for a private loan which I did not think I would be approved for since my credit was already bad. She stated that she knew for a fact I would get approved if I applied for Bank of Loan Mills, which I did apply and I did get approved but of course there was an error on their part again and she told me I only needed to apply for $1, 300 and the difference would be taken care of but I guess Bank of Loan Mills has a minimum loan amount of $2, 000. So I had to reapply again which was 2 credit hard inquires that I took. I then failed my class and asked for a substitution class within that same category and I was told there was no way I would be able to by the Dean via email. I was then told that my only option was to withdrawal which I asked for the forms and emailed them back due to the financial fraud that was conducted. I started receiving statements from Bank of Loan Mills on 05/10/2017 and I made the first payment but by the next statement I realized that Bank of Loan Mills was taken over by the company Everglades, Inc. so I did some research and Everglades is a financial company within Keiser which I was originally told it was a separate financial Loan institution. I have all the fraudulent financial information and current billing statements. I do not believe i should be responsible for this out of pocket expense

Keiser University unethical behaviour

Let me start off by giving a little background. Im a stay at home mom of 2 young children and I am a military spouse. So to stimulate my mind and advance for my own self worth, I started looking into online schools and applying for grants. Since my husband is above an E5, I did not qualify for MYCAA, but I did qualify for FAFSA. Knowing the amount I was qualified upto, I started looking into schools, starting this past May 2017, within a certain budget. I have many friends, also military spouses, that are basically going to school at zero out of pocket costs or very little out of pocket costs. This in part due to certain programs/discounts a school may have for military affiliated and using FAFSA.

So now that my background is out there, let me tell you about my experience with a Keiser advisor. It was horrible! He was condescending and very judgmental. I was simply asking for information in regards to tuition costs and military programs. I was upfront with what I was looking for in regards to costs and what my budget was. What a mistake that was! I was talking with him through chat and when the conversation took on an ominous tone on his behalf, I thanked him for his time and closed the chat. Except he wasnt done, I received an email further berating me.

Little tidbits from his email that really made me wonder who in the world is this person? "I’m also frustrated at your stance.
You really can’t expect everything in life to be free. Most legit colleges charge an application fee. Ours is cheap compared to others"

My response to that was, I am not expecting everything in life to be free! I know that what Im searching for is possible and if I can obtain a degree for little cost due to advantages, why wouldn't I want that!?

Next tidbit: " It’s unrealistic to think you won’t have to pay anything out of pocket. Simply unrealistic."

Again, it is NOT unrealistic, I have military friends, as I mentioned above, that are attending colleges across the country and not paying for it.

He goes on to say I need to think about investing in myself, which I wont argue with. But throwing in the condescending tidbits in his email, I was so confused and irate that I didnt care what else he had to say or what else he thought. He told me he doesnt try to sell Keiser to anyone. He doesnt work off commission. "Keiser sells itself to those who invest the time to talk, listen, and research."

I thought maybe I was overreacting to his email but I asked a few people to read it and they had the same thoughts I did. "Who the ___ does he think he is?" Even if he didnt agree or was frustrated with my stance, he had no business in saying so. I replied telling him that he was rude and condescending and to please not contact me again. Of course I got another email saying "good luck to you." After his original email, I highly doubt he said this with sincerity.

Did I mention he couldnt/wouldnt answer any of my questions? Basically telling me that due to different courses, the cost varies. Well most colleges that I had researched up to this point, had set prices for their classes based upon credit hours. They also had information regarding military rates and other benefits. He pretty much told me Id have to apply to get any real answers about costs. But applying costs money. This is the only "accredited" school that I had come across that actually charged an application fee, and if they did, it was waived for military.

He did the exact opposite of selling me on Keiser. His lack of courtesy and undertones of condescension made me not want to look any further into this school. And maybe thats a good thing after doing some research and seeing all the other complaints and lawsuits against this school. So maybe I should thank him instead.

If I was Keiser and I wanted people to be interested in attending, this would be the last guy on earth that id want to have making first contact with an interested person.

And if he happens to see this, please know that I have found exactly what I was looking for. Therefore, it isnt unrealistic. And the school is accredited and legit. So maybe you should keep your personal opinions to yourself.

Keiser University billing drop/add

Keiser billing drop/add deadline is ridiculous. I am attending their Doctor degree. Their billing cycle is for 4 months, which will include 2 classes, which 8 weeks class back to back. So you can drop the 2nd class in but you will not get any tuition refund back since the drop/add for the billing cycle is only in the first 3 weeks.

How can that be? How do you know if you like the class? or even can handle it.

It is a rip off/scam that they are billing. Billing something in advance and get their money and won't refund it.

Keiser University financial aid scam

It seems that I'm having much of the same issue as a lot of other people on here. How is nothing being done about this? After 4 completed semesters, I dropped classes in my 5th semester, well within the period I was able to do so. Everything up until that point had been paid in full, I had a zero balance. I recently requested my transcripts to continue my education elsewhere, and I was told I owe $6500 and they will not release my transcripts until it is paid in full. They are accusing me of dropping classes outside of the time period I was able to do so without penalty. And when they sent me my ledger, of course it reflects their side of the story because otherwise how could they legally charge me anything. This money they say I owe them is money that was given to them from financial aid as well as the loans they make you take out, and they had to refund that money to them. So why exactly do I have to pay them money that was never theirs in the first place? It makes no sense whatsoever, and when I ask questions about it I am told that this is the way it is and I need to pay. How are they able to treat people this way? And how do they continually get away with this?!

I am in the same boat! I attended Keiser Clearwater campus for over a year, high honors program... I was pulled out of class because my financial aid ran out? I was told I could not attend classes until a monthly payment was made. After ignored phone calls to the school, ignored email to the Dean, I had enough and dropped out. Keiser says I now owe over $10, 000 at over 20% interest and can not start at another college to finish my degree. This college is not only pathetic, but a disgrace to the educational system. DO NOT ATTEND HERE!
