J.G. Wentworth structured settlement

I was working with J.G. Wentworth with selling my annuity payments for my daughter that needs to go to college. I only wanted to sell a small portion of my payments as I live off those payments. After speaking to the representative, he made it seem like I had to sell the entirety of my payments to even move forward with a transaction. I went ahead and signed up selling my entire payment stream and I had a court date scheduled for July 21st. I read this blog after having a fishy feeling about J.G. Wentworth and I ended up giving Michael Davis a call after reading this blog. He was able to effectively purchase a quite smaller amount of money and was able to give me MORE for what he purchased! His number is [protected], if you wanted to call him. Please shop your deal around and do be coaxed into going with the first company that gave you a quote! Michael was very knowledgeable and told me that this company does this all of the time.

J.G. Wentworth mortgage

I am a REO Realtor for the past 9 years. REO means foreclosure basically. I receive foreclosed homes, I check for occupancy, offer cash to the occupants from the bank to have move, etc, etc, etc. So I have heard many stories from tenants and owners on why they lost their home. Now I see why. My mortgage company was originally WestStar Mortgage and they were awesome. Many of my buyers used them to buy homes. JG bought them out last year sometime right around the time Weststar worked with me to get my rate lower as well as my mortgage. I had 1 contact named Joe. Always returned my calls and emails. Just a great smooth experience. Then JG steps in and I can't believe how incredible awful they are. The past year or so I had 2 big deaths in my family and for the last 4-5 months I have been traveling back and forth from CT to NJ trying to wrap up my mothers affairs since we buried her in March. And about 8 months ago, my upstairs tenant stop paying me. So my finances took a big turn around in the last year. Being self employed as a Realtor, I need to be home in CT working! Anyway, I try to speak to JG everyday to keep them updated, and of course, its always a different contact. I can even begin to tell you the issues they have caused me the past year. I would be writing for days. I am sick to my stomach every day. But hers the kicker, , , , on 5/31/16, at this point I owed 5 mortgage payments which totaled around 3300. I somehow managed to get it together and i also now have tenants who have just signed a lease and will be moving in next moth, they will pay me 800 a month. That will cover my mortgage so i will be almost back on my feet again. JG refused to take my money because they wanted was is now due, 6 payments. So they refused my 5 payments. What gets me is, people sometimes go through a hard time and get back on their feet again like me. And they wont take my money but foreclose? This is why many people loose their homes, I have heard these similar stories many many times in the past few years. Oh and by the way, I sent them 2 payments in March. I spoke to a rep who gave me the correct total for 2 payments, I sent it the next day. Whew, now i only owe 2 payments to get up! Yeah right, about a week later I call JG and they said I never made payments. I asked what happen to the 2 payments I sent March 10th? Apparently, it was short for 2 payments so they applied it to something that was short of money, escrow etc from last June or something. I still have not figured it out. Again, I am trying but I am to the point of nervous breakdown and have no one to turn to. I busted my butt as a single hard working women. They have mentally destroyed. I am thinking about getting an attorney but the energy has been drained from me. I have owned my house for 5 years now and I am 45. If I loose my house, I will never have an opportunity again to have the so called American Dream. I will never recommend JG to any of my buyers ever.

I am the original person who wrote the complaint. Since I wrote that, I finally did have a nervous break down and in August of last year, I ran my car into a pole and totaled it. It has been a long year of recovery. Just so happens that a Auction sign was put in front of my home today, , , like I have not been through enough now I am humiliated by all that drive by. Thank you JG, , , you have made my life a living hell the past 2 years. They are the worst!

Wow! After reading the comments on this page, I AM SOOO GLAD I DIDN'T REFINANCE WITH JG WENTWORTH. We started the process, but nothing went easy. Being self employed we had to send them document after document, and then they wanted more documentation. Rolfe, the agent I started with was nice and polite, and pretty much told me it should be "no problem" for us to get a loan, but they insisted that without a home appraisal, we couldn't move forward. We had the appraisal done, at our expense and everything was looking good. Then the deal we thought we were getting, drastically changed. Now they tell us the debt to income ratio is too high and they have to re-figure the loan. Seems that they could eliminate some of our debt by suggesting we pay off a 26, 000 truck loan. WHAT? No that's not eliminating the debt, it's just moving it around. At that point I told them to forget it, we went into this wanting a better interest rate and to lower our monthly house pmt., but the way they refigured, it was only going to save us $200 a month. Not worth it! We feel we were not treated fairly, they were incompetent in the way the situation was handled, and I would NEVER refer anyone to that company. I want others to be aware too.

J.G. Wentworth structured settlement

I received a letter in the mail from JG Wentworth regarding the selling of my Structured Settlement. I decided to call and inquire.

On or around April 13, 2016, I started working with Chris Sinclair from JG Wentworth. Chris asked me a few questions regarding my settlement, and quoted me the dollar amount they could provide me with upon the sale of my Structured Settlement. Part of the transaction per Chris, was after JG Wentworth had me sign the first set of documents, and their Underwriting Department reviewed those documents, I would receive $5, 000 in advance within about two weeks.

Since April 13, I have received several different sets of documents that needed to be signed and notarized. On one occasion, I received the same set of documents twice. I have provided JG Wentworth with everything they requested for the advance, but as of May 19, 2016 I still have no advance. In late April, I was introduced via telephone to Livingstone Malcolm, Customer Transaction Manager. Livingstone advised me that one more set of documents needed to signed and notarized before the advance was issued. Livingstone set up an appointment in early May where I signed and notarized one more set of documents. On May 11, 2016, Livingstone advised me that he sent the request to The Accounting Department for the check to be issued, that was on May 11, 2016. See email below. Two days later, I never heard back, and of course never received the advance. I called in to check status on May 13, 2016 and was told by Chris Sinclair, that their Legal Department needed additional documentation before they could issue the advance. I was then sent another set of documents that needed to be signed and notarized - that was yesterday, May 18, 2016. Still no advance and no follow up communication.

Since May 3rd, when I have called in to ask about the status of the advance, it has been a different story each time I call in. I understand that there are necessary steps that need to be taken in order to ensure a procedure or process is being followed. However, I have found the information from the start along with the customer service and follow up is extremely concerning and borderline shady. Either something illegal is going on behind the scenes at JG Wentworth or they just really don't know what they are doing. Either way, it is a very disappointing and concerning experience.

Do your research when choosing a Company that handles Settlement transactions. I have worked with Novation Capital in the past and it was a seamless transaction. They know what they are doing with your money!

J.G. Wentworth bought our mortgage

J. G. Wentworth bought our mortgage and we've had nothing but trouble ever since! We got behind due to me being laid off work, so we resigned an agreement to lower payments and extend term to get caught up. We've been making payments for 6 months now and they still are sending threatening foreclosure letters monthly, saying we're 2 months behind! You know it's bad when their own employees are embarrassed by their lack of professionalism and poor record keeping!

J.G. Wentworth structured settlement purchase

I called in from after needing some fast cash after loosing my job. I got a quote for selling a little less than 300, 000 in exchange for 125, 000 it seemed like a reasonable offer. They were all friendly with me until I signed on the dotted line. After that it was almost impossible to get ahold of my represenative. Two weeks later I was contacted by a michael davis he explained to me that this is normal and jg wentorth does this a lot. He then presented to me an offer that I couldn't refuse. He offered me $160 grand for the exact same payments jg was offering me $125, 000. His number is [protected] if you want to call him. I can couldn't say anything negative about him, he answered every question I had and always answered his direct cell phone immediately. Please stay away from jg there are others out there who offer way more and actually know how to run a business.

J.G. Wentworth I was seriously ripped off

I did a deal with this company 2 years ago. My whole life has been a mess. I was in a financial crisis. I cashed out on a million dollars worth of my payments for 43, 000.00. I was in a financial bind at that time.

I Lost my wife and I became a single father of my 3 children. I was going to loss my home, so I really needed the money. I am doing better now and I have learned a lesson and life, the corporate world has many snakes and they don't care about you or your future. They just want your money!

I have just sold my total annuity but this time I dealt with a broker. He help me with a total lump sum for remainder of my payments and he refered me to a very great financial advisor. I wish I had met him 2 years ago. he is a great genuine person and was a lot of help to me and my family. His name is Michael. His contact number is [protected]. Please don't contact big companies like JG Wentworth, and become a victim like me. They don't care about your family or you!

J.G. Wentworth customer relations

Well, they are very nice and helpful, untill you sign on with them. Then you can expect to get the run around, that is, when they decide to actually return your calls and emails. Making excuse after excuse as to why they couldnt keep to their word, and why they haven't gotten you approved yet, which changes every time they have a different person start 'working' with you. Over all you will get paid, eventually, but don't expect it when they say, and don't go through them if you desperately need money fast. I did get a good deal for the settlement, but customer relations is very poor.

J.G. Wentworth prolific spammer

I receive at least three spam solicitations every day from J.G. Wentworth concerning cashing out a structured settlement. My many inquiries as to why they are sending me these solicitations when I have never had any structured settlements have fallen on deaf ears. I have clicked "Unsubscribe" every day and also inquired as to why I was ever "subscribed" to begin with also to no avail. I would encourage anyone to avoid any business who does not practice common courtesy and decency.

J.G. Wentworth rip off better deals elsewhere

Jg Wentworth are the biggest crooks in the settlement industry! I was attempting to sell my entire settlement they lured me in with false promises of no legal fees and fast cash upfront (all lies) after I signed up it was almost impossible to hear from my rep. Always getting the run around. Anyways, have way through my transaction I get a call from Kyle a settlement broker who works with private investors. He mentions that jg lies all the time and always rips people off. He gives me a quote that not only beats jg Wentworths deal it almost doubles the offer for the Same payments! I thought it was too good to be true so I told him to send me the contract and I took it to my attorney and he told me he trusts this contract more than Wentworth, it clearly says they charge no fees and what I am quoted that is what I receive. My court date is Friday and I recommend kyle 100 percent his personal cell number is [protected] he always answers any questions I have no matter what time of day It is! Call him if you decide to sell your settlement you would not be disappointed.

Just because Costco refer them, I got the mortgage with them but since then one headache after another. I never ever had this much of issue with other banks. First they bought out a few small banks, so they asked me to send my payment to different addresses 3 times. Then, I set up automatic withdrawal will take care of all the trouble in writing monthly checks. They started withdrawing $500 over my regular monthly payment. I am still trying to resolve this issue.

J.G. Wentworth liers

Jg lie to me, they sent me 2 checks 1 for $100 for letting them know who they are and the other for $500 for signing the contract. Well on july 11 2015 I did just that and deposit both checks in the bank to pay off 3 bills well I got a phone call from sam who is handling me case and told me that after signing the check that they made a mistake and that in order to get the 500 I had to sign another contract and from 11, 000.00 I would be getting only 10, 500.00. I disagree with that call and they went and withdrew the 500.00 causing a negative on my account.

J.G. Wentworth operations

JG Wentworth is nothing but a scam. going thru the process of selling my structure settlement to JG Wentworth was nothing but a headache and lie. The process of filling all of the paperwork and dealing with the courthouse just added more stress to the situation. I was told JG Wentworth would cover all court and filing cost and nothing would come out of pocket. I ended up paying for both. Then years later I was contacted by JG Wentworth stating that their portion of the deal was settled and that I should be reciving my monthly structure payments again and I should contact my structure settle policy holder. After hours on the phone with my policy holder and multiple JG Wentworth employees it came down to them not understanding their own paperwork and files and that I will not be recieving my monthly structure payments back. Which was another waste of my time and them lieing to me once again. I would not recommend JG Wentworth to anyone unless your prepared for a huge headache and multiple lies just to get your business. VERY VERY BAD BUSINESS AND COMPANY!

J.G. Wentworth ripped off

I got a check in the mail letting me know I can get a cash advance if i sold my annuity over to JG Wentworth.
Not only did i not get the check when we went into contract, i also got ripped off. I called around to get quotes from other buyers and they all offered me much more than what JG was willing to offer...I guess they have to cover all of their pricey marketing costs!

J.G. Wentworth sales issue

I was doing a transaction with J.G. Wentworth after calling in from their tv ad and they offered me only $20, 000.00 for over $150, 000 in future payments. As I was in dire need for the money I went ahead and took the offer. 15 days after they filed my paperwork I was contacted by a Structured Settlement broker by the name of Michael Davis. He explained to me that J.G. Wentworth take advantage of people who do not know the industry. He also explained what he does and he takes these deals around and shops them with individual private investors to get the best deal- he found an investor willing and able to give me $55, 000 for the SAME money I was selling to J.G. Wentworth! DO not deal with these scammers they will do anything to rip you off! Michael's Phone number is [protected].. seriously if you are consider doing a deal with J.G. J.G. Wentworth customer relations

I contracted with JG Wentworth several years ago agreeing that my annuity would be sent to them from METLIFE in return for a set amount of cash at the start date and then the payments would return to me at the end of the contract. It was nearly impossible getting them to send a letter to METLIFE releasing me from the contract and returning the annuity back to my name. They sent a letter to METLIFE informing them that the payment sould return to me. I checked with METLIFE and they stated that the annuity payments would be placed in my checking account, but the actual owner of the annuity stayed in JG Wentworths name. I called JG Wentworth and spoke to a young male by the name of Chris W. . I requested that they send METLIFE a letter stating that my contract with JG Wenworth was fulfilled and the ownership of the annuity was now in my name. Chris W. stated that he sent METLIFE the letter, but METLIFE stated that they never received the letter. I called back at least 10 times and asked Chris W. to please send the letter. Chris W. was the very worst customer support person I have ever dealt with. He was rude and arrogant. I was treated with total disrespect. After speaking with METLIFE customer service agent, Rita L. she was able to get JG Wentworth to send the necessary paperwork, Rita L. was wonderful. Prior to having this problem I would have dealt with JG Wentworth, but never again. I believe they want to keep the annuity in their name because it's a lot easier for them if you want to sell the annuity to them at a later date, shame on them!

J.G. Wentworth Confusion? Or lack of effort?

Jg wentworth has promised so much and given nothing. The paperwork was sent to us next day, fedex, filled it all out n sent it back. The little man we dealt with was so helpful up until that point. Sent us a 250$ discover card with nothing on it. Because he lost paperwork, (And never called to tell me he lost it) it hasn't been funded. I call and call but he hasn't been to work in a week. Promised us a advance on our settlement and, wouldn't you know, more paperwork I was not informed about. The guy I spoke to today, cause little man went home early again today, says it must be a confusing mistake. No it's lack of effort! My court date is 2 months after the first date I called. I pray the cancellation process is faster then everything else i've been through but i'm willing to wait! I would compare it to putting your money and paperwork in the hands of a 14 yr old. Actually I know more 14yr olds with responsibility then this god awful company! I take full responsibility because all the research I did said this is how this company works. Kickin myself in the butt for not listening!

this company does all it can do to get your business. once they get your business on a partial selling of your annuity they are constantly late on sending out the remaining portion to your account. they tell you they havent got the check from them company when the check has been sent to them weeks before. they make millions in interest if they do this to everyone. bad mistake doing business with this company, cute commercials but it ends there.

I agree wholeheartedly! DO NOT do business with them. They will first come across as SO helpful but will lose paperwork, not call you back, etc. do your research and go with a company that has never filed bankruptcy! They have no problem lying to you over and over! This place disgusts me! I pray the cancellation process goes more smoothly then the selling process!

Yes. They are trying to tell me that they have NOT received a payment that was mailed 10 days ago. Plus, everyone you talk to is RUDE and tells you a different story. They say they have contacted the annuity company, but they annuity company hasn't heard from anyone. The absolute worst company I have ever dealt with. It will cost me to have my lawyer follow up on their lack of business ethics. I will be so glad when I no longer have to deal with these idiots.

I was approached by JG Wentworth, but after investigating them realized that they are unethical at best, outright criminals at worst. Had to put my phone on the 'do not call' registry, but they continued to bother me even after being told that the annuity I was receiving was no longer valid. I moved out of state but they immediately got my new address and phone and began harassing me again, as well as filling my mailbox with endless junk mail. They must be incredibly desperate to waste time on a dead end. These people need to be brought up on charges. A simple search of the name brings up endless complaints, so that shouldn't be too difficult for law enforcement to manage.

J.G. Wentworth slow in refunding annuity payment

Dragging out payment of my annuity.

I had requested to cash my annuity from J G Wentworth but after 30-45 days we were not able to complete because of tax consequences. Well that was at the beginning of July. It took a week for Wentworth to notify the annuity holder. So my August payment was made to Wentworth ! The Check was cashed by J G Wentworth August 1st and I still have not received my fund from them all I get is a response that customer service is looking into it and they will refund the fund to me.

These funds may not mean much to them but it is to me. I am running short on funds ! this could mean utilities or food to me this company sadly was going to be my relief instead it has now become a disaster.

J G wentworth has resolved my complaint. They called and were very professional and apologetic,
there had been an accounting error. I received my refund this morning via federal express. I am left with a good opinion of the staff they have redeemed themselves. thank you Gloria Castaneda
