H&R Block / HRB Digital tax service/handling of identity theft

I am a customer at H&R Block and I had my identity stolen so someone could do an Emerald (program) Could not use the "L" word. I had no idea what this was, until while re-doing my taxes, it came up that I owed the money. They told me 45 days later I would hear something as to who had gotten my social security number, etc. It has been 52 days now and NOTHING. I call them, but they never call me back. I have to call them multiple times, otherwise, they would never call me. I have had it with this and am resolute to contact a regional manager of H&R Block. I have been working with the Pike Creek Office in Wilmington, DE. My taxes being done by H&R started out badly, as well, beginning at the Shipley location in Wilmington, DE. I had to wait several months after they re-did my taxes, and I was so busy I never called them. When I finally did call them, they knew nothing about my tax situation and I had at least 3 different people call me to ask me how things were going and was I happy with H&R Block! The person I originally worked with does not work with H&R anymore, so could it have been this person who stole my identity? I find waiting for this long to find out who stole my identity to be atrocious. This is an IMPORTANT MATTER. My identity! Someone has my social security number and they are taking their time finding out who did this! Furious!

H&R Block / HRB Digital taxes issue

So, I moved from NYS to Tennessee and have never filed taxes with H&R Block before. Being a "Nationally Recognized" company, I figured what could go wrong. Well plenty did and I have had no resolution.
So here goes:
My wife and I go into the Dandridge TN H&R Block office to have our taxes done. We meet with Dave Mcadoo, employee of H&R Block. He looks at our paperwork and W2's. He inputs all data into the computer and states that we are getting over $6000 from the feds. My wife and I are excited. But then in the same breath, Mr. Mcadoo states that he was wrong, we owe the feds over $6000 dollars. Our hearts sank and we went on like this for a few minutes. Then Mr. Mcadoo states that he should fix the errors on the form that were highlighted. The errors are fixed and we are now getting just over $900 back from the feds. What a roller coaster ride. The federal side of the taxes are now complete and it costs me $260.00 dollars. For the NY State side of the taxes, they have to be completed by Vito, an H&R Block representative in NC, who is licensed to complete NYS taxes.
So my state taxes are sent to Vito. No extra costs were discussed by Mr. Mcadoo so I figured that the $260 dollars I just paid encompasses all taxes. I was wrong.
After a week, I get a call from Vito in NC and he needs my credit card as I am to be charged another $74 dollars to have my NYS taxes done. I am slated to get a return of $94 dollars from NYS. So after stewing over this, I have to pay the new fee to have my state taxes done.
In the meantime, Mr. Mcadoo calls me and states that he has to file an amendment to my federal taxes as he forgot to add my state taxes into it. So for the first time ever, I have to file an amendment to my taxes. With the corrected error I have to go into H&R Block and pick up the amendment and I have to pay to have the amendment mailed, even though this was not my error. Why do I have to mail the taxes, what am I paying H&R Block for. So I have to pay almost $10 dollars to mail my amended federal taxes.
Great.
No being happy at this experience thus far, I file a complaint with H&R Block via phone. I am given a complaint number but that was it. No phone call, no resolution, nothing. No one called me and I had to follow up with them four times. Finally I was given the answer to contact the H&R Block branch that I filed my taxes with. I will get to that issue soon.

So my taxes are done. I have my federal money and I am waiting for my $94 dollar state return. That $94 dollar return never comes, instead I get a bill from NYS tax and finance that states I owe them $712 dollars in taxes and fees.
I call H&R Block immediately but now it is off tax season so I cannot reach anyone.
So now I have to do leg work myself. I call NYS tax and finance office. What I find out is unbelievable. I have my state tax form that was completed by Vito. Speaking with NYS tax and finance, we compare the form that I have and the form that they received. The state tax return forms are different, from the one I have and the one NYS has. WHAT. Boxes and values are different. MY states that I get money back and NYS states that I owe them.
Now I am steamed.
I finally get a hold of H&R Block and speak with a representative. They are amazed. So now another amendment has to be done to correct the errors, and guess who has to mail it to NYS. Oh yeah, me again.

So now I go to the Dandridge TN H&R Block office and finally meet with the franchise owner, Jeremy. I go into my story with him, advising him or how messed up my taxes are and how disappointed I am. As I spoke, I realized that I was wasting my time and breath as Jeremy rolled his eyes about four times. When I finished, his response is that its a computer glitch and he stated " your taxes got done"

What a mess and corporate should be very disappointed at their franchise for this mess. I am very disgruntled, disappointed and will never use H&R Block again. I will make sure that I am very vocal about this experience, as I have yet to speak to anyone from the company that actually gives a hoot. I have had no resolution and still wonder what I spent my money on. I also question the quality of H&R Block employees that are suppose to be experienced and skilled.

Feel free to have someone of value or higher position to give me a shout back if they would like to discuss this further.

Well for one thing, you don't even need a college diploma to get a job doing taxes at HR Block. I know this because my sister-in-law is always looking for warm bodies for her HRBlock office. Nobody stays long because HR Block doesn't bother to train anyone adequately. Secondly, you moved to Tennessee. The IQ drop ftom NY to TN would be enough to cause the bends.

H&R Block / HRB Digital service quality

Wow, what a spiral downhill. H&R Block Oakland had been doing my taxes for 15 years, no real problems, but this year's tax prep... the worse I've ever seen. I'm vowing to just do my own next year. Where do I begin? Well I guess first was the tax preparer who's English was somewhat a challenge for her. Now I'm fine with working through this, it's the Bay Area and even people who's first language is English are challenged. It was her struggle with basic math that was difficult to swallow. Yep... I started doing math long hand without a calculator or sometimes just in my head to come up with the answers. The basic was dividing a whole number in half. The second issue was 3 calls from my tax person's relative on her mobile... I don't know about anyone else, but I'm a professional and I better not be getting personal calls unless something's bleeding, burning or broken. Then they couldn't process my paperwork or payment... for 1/2 hour. I had to stand there as they turned the computers on and off, logged in and out. This was at 10:00 p.m. Well, of course this instigated a problem with my tax prep. So I picked up a call on my home phone (when I was at work). Called the number and was told I could only call back from the number they called!? WHAT? Is this not the 21st century? What would happen if my house burnt down or they shut off my phone? Honestly I'm ready to take the $950 tax return and give it to H&R block to pay for them to train their people correctly. Oh and the best was my preparer's responses that married filing separate was too difficult and then as we were itemizing, she said she didn't want to put in the list of books I donated. So basically, save your time and money here. I guess H&R Block isn't in the tax preparation business anymore.

H&R Block / HRB Digital wrong information

I usually alternate between h&r block and jackson hewett tax service. This year I used h&r. They have my information and things rarely change on my tax forms. This year for some strange reason it only took 15 minutes to prepare my taxes. When I saw my refund I asked if I could get a credit for installing a new hot water heater. The preparer didn't ask me if anything changed or simple tax questions that would get me a better refund. She just typed quietly. The water heater is a legitimate deduction so I included it and they submitted my taxes. When I looked on the federal and state website to view my taxes I couldn't find the refund as being submitted. Then when I dug further I see that the preparer changed my status to single. I've been married for five years and h&r block have me in the system as being married so why did she change that without asking me. I've called several times to get this fixed and keep getting told they will call me back. My preparer is roxanne gibson. The office manager is tracy wales. No one has called me back. What am I to do~ contact the irs and the state of maryland? Very upset and and I won't ever use this tax service again.

H&R Block / HRB Digital specials/deals

I would like to know why people you are trying to get as customers of H&R Block are getting better deals/prices than the people that have been with them for many years. I have gone through H&R Block for about ten years now and keep seeing all these deals for people switching to them but no deals for continuous loyal customers. I love the service but hate feeling like I as a customer don't matter. I understand needing or wanting more business but the people that do support you are left unnoticed and feelibg underappreciated. Would love to hear back from you. My email is [protected]@aol.com. let me know you care please! Sincerely, loyal customer

H&R Block / HRB Digital mis filing

I waited for my income tax refund to be automatically deposited in my checking account. Imagine my surprise when I received a letter from the IRS stating my refund had been denied because I filed a MI-1040 but failed to file a property tax credit form, MI-1040CR. I had my taxes done at H&R Block in Williamston Michigan on January 24, 2015. We sat there for nearly 2 hours while 2 women could not properly figure out my refund because they could not determine what they were doing wrong. I receive Social Security and only file for the Homestead Property Tax Credit and was to receive $1200. Finally the lady, Jaclyn Kayser, told me she would continue to work on the forms to figure out what she was missing and get back with us or even deliver it to our home. At that point she charged me $20 instead of the normal $35 because of the wait they put us through. When I called to find out why the form MI-1040CR was not included in the mailing, the woman told me it was because I didn't pay them. When she finally realized I did pay, then she sent the form to the IRS. This is wrong in so many ways...I did everything correctly and they failed me. Now I have another long wait for the money that is due me.

H&R Block / HRB Digital 2014 taxes

i paid them 331.00 to do mt 2014 taxes my state refund they took and never said nothing, i was told by the repairer that the money owing them would come out of my Federal and my state would be mine. I went to the office and talked to Pamela Williams their manager and she told me my federal should be here by the 11th of Feb. and she did not know anything about the state when she call the state office it came back they never received it, so i call myself and my state went into H&R Block account on Feb 2, 2015. so she know why didn't she just tell me. The woman at the State Commission told me it went to their bank, so H&R Block are lairs I will never go back to them. They just what that big amount of money for doing nothing. i should have listen to my sister-law and not got ripe off by them. a loan company look at my taxes said they could down the same thing for 100. and it would not of cost me nothing for them do my state. i am 56 years old how could they do things like that and get away with it. I will and can send copies of everything though a fax but i am using my company computer and i cant scan anything Thank You Nedra Jones

H&R Block / HRB Digital bloomfield, ct park avenue manager

We made an appointment and was taken aback by the "Manager" that took 2 hours to do pretty much nothing and asked us to come back at a later date because she was too tired to continue processing our return. Throughout those two hours she had to ask her colleague various questions and had to receive assistance to go from screen to screen and asking questions tax preparers should already know.
This was last Friday. Today is Monday. I went back on Saturday she had not started our tax preparation until today. She called me asking questions I answered on Friday. Without finishing our return she tells me we make too much money and probably would not receive any money back. She was laid back and rude. This information and situation is important and she could not have cared less.
I am filing a complaint any and everywhere I can because is the Manager and the protocol is to contact her.
H & R Block charges way too much money for our return to not be filed SEVERAL days later and for a manager to treat my husband and myself as if we are interrupting her nap. She asked the receptionist several times how many appointments did she have the next day and seemed overwhelmed, confused and dated on information she would be abreast of. It was a terrible experience. We are going back to Liberty Tax. H & R Block was our place up until 2010. I see why I waited so long to return.

H&R Block / HRB Digital cannot get prior year tax forms

Tax forms completed by H&R Block for prior year (either 2011 or 2012) were not picked up when completed, and unfortunately forgotten, until IRS notified us that they received no forms for that year. Now for the past several months, we have been getting the run around about getting the forms. When we call, they say they will call us back regarding them, but they never return the call.

H&R Block / HRB Digital charging for tax prep that I cannot file

I had H&R block prepare my taxes which they said it would be 9.99 but ended up being over 30 just for my federal then the prepared my state cost me another 40$ and they e filed it with my state which rejected it cause you can't file renters rebate on lne however they tried and now I can't even exile my state at all I called the service 3 days in a row for help the first day I was on hold for 2.5 hrs than I gave up the next day I got someone the told me they had to transfer me and hung up twice then left me on hold again the third time they finally talk to me told me I needed to go to my local H&R block office and made me appointment I went there today and they said there's nothing they could do because now my state taxes are stuck someware in the system and the only way this problem could be fixed is paper file my whole state income taxes which I have to do myself and it could take up to six week or longer before I can get my 3000 refund which I counted on getting them a lot sooner, However it only took them a few minutes to take my payment I feel they owe me everything I paid them and a lot more for all the time I spent trying to get this problem resolved, I plan on sending this complaint to my states consumer complaint agency and the attorney generals office in my state for people like me who has a disabled husband and three kids to support and living pay check to paycheck working two jobs I really need this money to try to get caught up on my bills, what they did was not right at all and I think they need a training course of what you can and can't e file when doing people's taxes! H&R Block / HRB Digital too high fee for full time college student

This morning went to local H&R Block to file my son's taxes, who is a full time out of state college student. Refund of full return of state and fed taxes to sum of $915. The fee for this was $104.00 with a $45 discount that was included, this was rape. This fee was outrageous, full time college student, works during summer and holidays for his money. The young people trying to make something of themselves, with goals and standards get no breaks. I filed a complaint with them...big deal right-they don't care and it proved so in the employees taking the complaints. So the next best thing I can do for this situation as a mom, is sing it from the house top-how sorry this business is...all about the buck! So unless you are getting a big return back or can afford to let them rape you, better find someone else or file yourself.

H&R Block / HRB Digital gross negligence

H&R Block forced the entry of an informational item from our W2 (box DD) that was listed for employer paid contributions to healthcare premiums into our medical expense deduction, substantially overstating our medical expenses TWO tax years in a row. Each year, our approximate increased tax is $12k for each of the two tax year for a total of $24k in tax, not including interest and penalties.

As we were unaware of the tax law, of course we didn't know that this wasn't permitted under the ACA, which our tax preparer specifically said WAS allowed under the new law. Of course, she was wrong.

We have the Peace of Mind guarantee, but this only covers up to $5500/mistake, but - you are actually TAXED on the payment they make to you for this guarantee, which further deprecates it's value. In other words, they might pay me the $5500, but after I pay the taxes on it, it will only be worth $3500.

I plan to file a lawsuit under their E&O insurance as this is an absurd mistake that goes beyond a transposition error, addition error or some software error. This was a blatant disregard of a new tax law for which we relied upon their knowledge.

H&R Block / HRB Digital guarantee

Makes Mistakes / Doesn't Stand Behind Work: my elderly parents have used this H & R Block office for 15 years. Recently, the TN IRS notified my parents that H & R Block failed to calculate & file state taxes on dividends for two tax years [protected]) The DIV documents my parents presented to their tax "expert" should have triggered a state filing (as it did 13 out of 15 years). When asked to respond, Lori Smith, a Senior Tax Adviser at this office, informed us they refuse to cover the nearly $700 in penalties and interest being imposed because TN didn't catch H&R's mistake within a 3 year window of time. My parents can ill afford this kind of tax "help".

I cannot believe the asinine ad that is showing locally about the angels in heaven and the guy doing his taxes who is choking. The ad is for H & R Block. Since I have had problems swallowing for 2 years now, and often do get choked, I find the advertisement highly offensive. Anyone who has ever been choked would not think this very funny. I do not know what that even has to do with taxes!

2015 H&R block software defaults to the wrong codes. Two family members I did returns for in 2012 and 2013 and now 2014, with dependents defaulted to the wrong codes unless you use the 'guide me' prompt. So I didn't use that prompt entereing all the dependent infor manually like I have done for the last 10 years and now all of a sudden tonight when reentering a dependent for my cousin, I used the 'guide me' prompt that I usually never use, because I know all of the dependents info are correct, such as soc. sec number, date of birth, lived with parent all year, etc. But while entering her 19 year old son, using the guide me prompt I noticed it defaulted to all the wrong entries, no wonder everyone who had children/dependents are being audited, this should be illegal for a defaulted entry, unless one uses the guide me prompt.

So much confusion around here.
First the cancellation of the loan program came about due to changes at IRS.
HSBC was making the loans based on information from IRS regarding whether
or not the taxpayer owed back child support, defaulted student loans or some
other gov't related debt. The IRS in their infinite wisdom no longer supplies that
information, thus the loan program is gone. You may have applied for a
Refund Anticipation Check (RAC) if so the wait time is usually 7 to14 days, subject to IRS approval. Go back and read your paperwork and you will see that it is all there in black and white. Good Luck.

H&R Block / HRB Digital not honoring agreement

Ive been a customer to H&R block for 6 years, when I get audited right when I receive the paper i instantly take it to H&R Block employees, the paper said that the kids were not related to me my nieces and nephews I provided every bit of proof that there was I provided birth certificates Social security cards and document bills We send it in to the reconsideration apartment. Over the next year I'm in contact with the IRS and H&R block irs kept requesting bits of information here in there. During this time I've met 4 to 5 different H&R Block employees. That's where h&r block break the terms of the agreement, it states in the agreement that I am to have one tax audit professional. So in mean time it seems like I'm getting nowhere with the IRS So then I go 2 one of there headquarters where I have the actual district manager have power of attorney to help me out. I wait for few weeks try to call are back turns out she's on vacation for the next 2 weeks, so I call back in the next 2 weeks to find out that he is been moved to another store. And this has been over 2 years now that I've been dealing with this constant talk with the IRS 2 to 4 hours at a time, I also have to explain it to every new H&R Block employee that I talk to try to help me out with situation taken more and more of my time. So I'll try take on the irs myself and start studying after talking to a lawyer in the irs countless times I come to the conclusion that H&R Block messed up when I sent my documents in, I had 90 days to appeal the audit, and instead for some reason H&R Block employees amended my taxes I never knew with this stuff meant at that time. When I Try to send in for peace of mind claim, they get rejected you guys say I never contacted them within 90 days or 30 days which is not true. Also say that it wasn't there fault based off information you have provided. Which is not true the audit itself may not been either H&R Block or my fault but when H&R Block sent in an amended tax return and didn't appeal the audit screwed me I had 90 days to appeal If i was giving one HR block tax professional this may have been accomplished instead I had to repeat my story over and over to 10 plus employees of H&R Block. It was also mentioned that it was Out of the 3 year deadline for the peace of mind claim, it would not have been if it was not for H&R Block I was in contact with them and irs the entire time. Now the only way I can get my money back from the IRS is if I pay them off completely and then sue them. So are h&r block employees trained to stall the customer 2 where they cannot obtain their peace of mind claim and why was I neglected the help that I needed before all this happened? 12000$ out of my pocket and I have done nothing wrong not one thing.

Told me I was getting a tax return confirmed my account details and told me I would have to wait about 3 weeks for the money, 2weeks later I received a bill from ATO all I got was a sorry he must not have had he's glasses on. I feel a refund of what I paid them should have been offered. I earnt to much from centerlink and work combined and no tax was being taken from my centerlink payment. After numerous phone calls to ato I booked an appointment with an account who told me exactly what I need to do to ensure this doesnt happen next year. I spoke to someone different at h & r block then the man who mislead me and he never called me to explain or apologise or give guidence on what to do next

H&R Block / HRB Digital filed wrong information on taxes

I went to H&R Block so my taxes would be done right since I had taxes in two different states. It has taken over 2 months to get all my state back from Oklahoma because they didn't send the correct paperwork. I call the tax people today and they told me I only get $175 back when h and r block told me I would get $702 back. The reason for this is because h and r block filed as me being in the state of oklahoma the whole year when I wasn't. And all h and r block will do to fix this is give me a $50 gift card for their services next year. I paid almost $300 to have my taxes done right and they screwed them up and only offered me $50 for their mistake. I won't be going back and anyone who talks to me about them I will strongly recommend them going somewhere. Don't waste you time with them.

H&R Block / HRB Digital forgot to mention the fees

I hardly write reviews on anything because I can usually find the pros and cons in everything and accept them. This, however, really got to me. Never will I get an Emerald Card again. The HR Block guy told me it was a quicker way to get my money than having a check sent to my house. Also I would be able to get my money out when I needed to with no fees. So, I accepted his offer and got screwed. If you go through these "no fee" banks that the card says to go through, you'll get feed. It's a $1 fee just to check your amount. When I called the banker to tell him I wanted the money taken out and put into my personal bank account he said "That's not an easy process. It'll take months and require a lot of paper information." He just insisted that I pay the fees for taking my money out through an ATM machine or accept cash back at Walmart. Also HR Block guys wont help. They know absolutely nothing. This whole experience is pathetic. Its my money and I don't have access to do what I want with it. Stop holding my money hostage! I do not want to go through your c****y bank!

H&R Block / HRB Digital 2012 tax return

I have had my taxes prepared at h&r block for the last several years. I will definitely not be giving them my money in the future. I received a letter from the IRS stating that I did not turn in a form with my 2012 taxes and I owed $1043. My fiancé took the letter to the office I had my taxes done at and showed it to one of the employees there. The employee pulled out that specific return and stated that they didn't have a copy of the form either. My fiancée then went home and pulled out my paperwork and low and behold the first form that was stapled on top was the form in question. She called the local office and was told that because the "piece of mind" was not purchased the only thing they can do is refund the preparation fee and the interest that the IRS is charging. I called the main customer service line and filed a complaint, expecting to get some satisfaction on an issue that clearly was not my fault. Again I was given the speech about the "piece of mind". Why should I pay several hundred dollars to have my taxes prepared, provide all of the necessary paperwork and then have to pay for "piece of mind". Shouldn't a company hire competent employees? Shouldn't a company be responsible for their employees negligence? Not according to H&R Block! I now have to set up payment arrangement with the IRS because their employee couldn't be bothered to do his job. As I said at the beginning of this review, this company will not get another dollar from me.

H&R Block / HRB Digital put hold on card

my emerald card was put on hold-stopped all transactions. saying something about fraud. i have tried to get answers with no luck. they say the bank will get ahold of me. they wont tell why or what happened for them to do this or think there is a problem. there was no problem this morning when i used it then this evening went to use it and it was declined. i just want my money screw the card. the people i have spoken to act like the bank is this special place they cant give me a phone number or a person who i can call to resolve this. i also was told it can take 3 to 7 business days to fix it better yet when the bank decides to talk to me-call me. this is unimaginable. especially this is all the money you have and are relying on your refund

H&R Block / HRB Digital didn't inform us about any fees

I files my taxes yesterday with h&r block . When I got home I looked over the paper work they charged me $325.00 for filing my taxes. I was never made aware of how much the fees were or given the option the pay for the fees upfront. I got charged another $35.00 for them to take the fees out of my refund. The lady was very nice but I even asked her how much it was going to be for her to file my taxes and she told me it was already taken out of my refund. I got charged almost $400.00 dollars for about 20 minutes of service.

So My husband filed his taxes an they said he would get them in 7 to 14 days an he didn't. They say on the wesite it is the IRS. How is it the IRS when they are giving anticipation loans for his money. They never get the money then give them out. They have never said they have to wait to get it from the IRS. I think it is really messed up we have no food nor gas nor a way to get our kids to school. We NEED OUR MONEY

I was charged $32.95 for direct deposit for my tax refunds.I got my refunds thru the regular mail.I was told that my bank rejected the transactions. My bank had no record of these rejections.I was told by H&R that it was a banking fee for the direct deposit, but when I called they stated it was for a antisipated refund? They could not tell me why I did not recieve the direct deposit.I check my returns and all the info was correct.

Be warned! H&R Block charges a ton of money for even fairly basic returns. I went in under the impression I would maybe spend $100, the charged me almost $200! I've always done my own returns but because I had itemized deductions this year I figured I'd have them done professionally...bad mistake! For that much money I could have figured my taxes out on my own! If you value your hard earned money, do not go to H&R Block!

went to H&R in Nov. they were offering a loan. was told when my w-2s ome in i would get a RAC loan also. would get 2000 the day they prepared my taxes the rest the following day. come to find out i wouldnt get no money for over a week. i believe they did the early loan so i would have no choice but to let them do my taxes. i think is bait and switch. or at the least very deceptive

I was told by an employee that my check would be in at a specific time. And when I called at that specific time; I was told that my check wasn't in with an attitude and then hung-up on. And what really pisses me off is, I ended up paying $213 to file my taxes thru this company and I get treated like a dog! H&R Block will NOT see me next year!

I had my taxes done by H&R Block for the 2014 tax year and the cost was $ 625 dollars and that was steep since the 2013 tax year filing was only 450 dollars and I still thought that was still steep since they only spent 35 min's doing my taxes. H&R Block charges more than attorney costs .
