HomeAdvisor Plumbing repair

I contacted Home Advisor about repair of a leaking pipe connection. I was given the name of a local plumbing company who gave me an appointment for about 6 days later. I then received a call from a person supposedly not affiliated with that plumbing company who claimed he was available that day to fix the problem. He claimed he would cut out the offending portion of pipe and replace. When he came he instead applied a rubber patch which he claimed would solve the problem. Was paid in cash. After he left, the pipe continued to have a small drip and after about a day later, the pipe sprung a major lead during the night which caused a basement flood. He did not answer my call and email. I found a real plumbing company who replaced the leaking pipe at a substantial cost. In my call to Home Advisor they claimed they no record of Terry Ivey Handyman Service who obviously had access to their system and performed the botched job.

HomeAdvisor Contractor referral

I have used Home Advisor 3 times - once for handymen, once for a long distance moving company, once for the names of dryer vent cleaning contractors.

The two handymen they referred me to were disreputable, especially JD Construction which was purportedly in Carpentersville IL, but was a scam and didn't really exist.

Then they referred me to Allegiance Movers which had never been verified.

Allegiance Movers tried to scam me out of $3, 103.00, in fact, they deposited an electronic check which bounced. My bank sent it back.

The final hurrah was Kleen King which is a purported dryer vent leaning service. I tried to contact Chris on his cellphone to confirm our appointment. I left several messages. He never returned my calls.

Home Advisor has a terrible reputation among reputable contractors.

HomeAdvisor Iron works

BNJ Iron Works, Inc., does not live up to the company's guarantee of "one year warranty on workmanship". The iron gate installed in 9/2020, at my house was not leveled and so it does not close easily. The latch on the gate was welded on incorrectly, not leveled, and the base of the rod was only partly welded. The
paint on the gate was poorly done, was not dried properly, the bottom of the gate was not even painted! BNJ would not correct the problem. I will not use BNJ again, and anyone looking for an iron work contractor, should look somewhere else.

HomeAdvisor Contractor never showed up.

Thru Home Advisor I hired Beach City Renovations for door and dry wall repair. A few weeks after the quote, I called the Owner, Rob Saltarelli making the appointment (3) weeks in advance. My Wife and myself took the day off work to go over other projects with Rob, but he failed to show up. When I called and asked him if he was coming, he said "My Bad, I forgot". He asked if he could come next week and I told him good-bye. We will never do business with Robert Saltarrelli and Beach City Renovations.

HomeAdvisor Paint job

I was contacted about 10 seconds after filling out what I needed done online. It was a paint job. Two 10x10 bedrooms and a hallway including the wall over the stairs. The person was a booking agent. She gave some spiel about membership and a pre paid price. I accepted since I used HA many times in the past with about 90 % satisfaction. She said that customers must now pre pay because the people that used their service in the past did not pay them.
The first pro (what a joke) came out on the day, on time (great) however, he completed 1 bedroom and said he had to leave to be on time for another job. I asked if he would return and he said to call the agent back, he was not sure if they would send him back. He however, stated that I could call him, and he gave me a price list of what he would charge to do the space. I thought this unusual and told him, I need to get this job finished first, especially since it was already paid.
I called scheduling and was given another date, 3 days later, however, the 2nd pro, did not arrive or call. It took over 4 hours to get them to schedule another person. On one phone call, I actually waited 1hour and 30 minutes to get someone to take the call. When the 3rd pro arrived on time, I thought it was over then. That my paint job would be complete and I would never be calling them back... No such luck. First off, the did not even have a paint brush, even though that was in the arrangements, I get the paint, they supply the tools. Next, the first pro used less than one gallon of paint in the first room, the second one had seeing issues, missed many spots, needed more paint and said he would come back to finish when I got more paint. I asked that he do the hallway since I had two gallons of that color, I figured he could finish at least that could be completed. I turn around to work as I was working from home and about an hour later, he called me. I went upstairs and to my dismay saw that he had painted my ceiling. I exploded. I could not believe that this experience could get any worse. I had specifically said when he arrived that I wanted the WALLS PAINTED. He asked about the bedroom ceiling and I told him only walls. Why would he decide to leave the walls white and paint the ceiling... is beyond me. Also, I had to supply a drop cloth, he was very untidy, obviously not an experienced painter, but hey... however, paint on the carpet, on the light fixtures, it was ridiculous. I asked that he do the best he could and just leave my house. Based on the experience I had initially when trying to get the 3rd pro... I decided not to call the scheduling department. They apologize and apologize, but at the end of the day they already got paid.
I am reporting to the better business bureau.

HomeAdvisor Incompetent handyman who didn't finish job and is not responding to texts

Complaint about Home Advisors:
I contracted through Home Advisor for a handyman to do 2 jobs for me, totaling 7 hours (which is what I paid for).
"Ron" showed up 9/28/20 at 10:40, which was 40 minutes late. He then went to Home Depot for almost 1 1/2 hours. Came back and started one job, worked on it until 2:00 and then left for the day. At most, he worked 2 1/4 hours.
Ron said he would be back to finish this one job on Tuesday, 10/6/20. He did not show up on Tuesday, or respond to any of three texts I sent him asking if he was coming.
I need someone to come and finish the job that was started and for which I for which I had to pay upfront. I don't even want the second job done by anyone associated with Home Advisors. I've been bounced around by different groups at Home Advisor and I'm disgusted that no one is actually taking care of the problem.
I would like resolution ASAP. I now have an exposed section of an exterior house wall that needs siding put back on it, and a small area inside the house, opposite that hole, that needs another coat of joint compound. Completion should take no more than 90 minutes.
Having paid upfront for 7 hours and two jobs, with only one job (hopefully) getting done
as a result of this complain that will use up only at most 4 1/2 hours, I feel I should be given a partial refund.
I am extremely disappointed this happened and upset by the inconvenience it has caused me. I used Home Advisor because I thought it was a reputable company; please don't disappoint me further. — Joan Conner

HomeAdvisor Roof repair

I am upset and disappointed about a request I had made to have my roof repaired. It was scheduled on monday at 8am... Got an e-mail a couple of hours before the scheduled time saying that it needed to be cancelled. They rescheduled for friday, same time. Guess what, had to cancel again! This is totally ridiculous and very poorly managed. I had to cancel appointments on both days to accommodate these professionals who never showed up. I would never recommend or use this site ever again.
Also, how can they give you an estimated price without even coming to view the job? Also, how can they give you a date and a time without even having anyone scheduled to do the job? Sounds like a big farce to me.

HomeAdvisor Fail

Cannot recommend

I requested a quote, and a service provider expressed interest in my project. Homeadvisor sent a 'link' to the provider, but the link was dead. I sent them two emails requesting a fix, but they did not respond.

Not only am I not talking to the provider, but now my reputation is damaged because they know who I am, and they think I am ignoring their offer - all because homeadvisor's system is flawed.

I cannot recommend homeadvisor.com. I would avoid.

HomeAdvisor I have been ripped off by you guys for the last time.

They keep trying to run my credit card for leads I do not think it is in any business best interest to do business with this company. They lied to me and several of my customers and people in my network of people who did business with them. Then they tried to send it to collections. Getting robbed by this company was one the things ever I was unable to pay my bills and had to ask friends for help my wife and myself are disabled veterans.

Same thing here! After being pressured year after year, i thought i'd give them a shot. They said you won't be charged if you don't click on leads. Did not click on a single lead and they billed me $279 also after my 300 dollar credit, I was pissed told them to cancel, they said they would. 7 days later they build me for another 444 dollars. I lost my mind! I want my money back, I didn't click on a single lead! This should be a class action lawsuit!

HomeAdvisor Fixed price division

On August 13th called 1-567-205-3672 to book a service. Spoke with Stephanie who took the info on the job and gave me a quote. Since this is a prepaid service I had to give cc info. I was told that I was on a secure line before giving the info. I received a confirmation #13735834 of the booking.

I checked my credit card 2 days later and there was a charge from a clothing website which I had never heard of. I called HomeAdvisors hq and no one answered the phone. So I contacted my credit card company on the 16th and while I was filing a dispute some one had ordered door dash. My card was canceled.

I called 303-963-7200 the headquarters on the 17th and got the automated service and left voice messages for Kathy Hicks and 3 others and no one returned my call.

I contacted HomeAdvisors customer service 567-205-3672 on the 17th and spoke with Jenna and asked for a manager and she transferred me to an automated system where I left a message for a returned call. Ivy called me back and said that some one would be calling back within 24 hours and I have yet to hear from anyone.

HomeAdvisors is the only company that I used the card with other than a monthly streaming service. I contacted PayPal and the company ROMWE.com and neither was ably to provide me with information on who used me cc.

I will never use this service again nor would I recommend them. Horrible customer service and cc information is at risk.

HomeAdvisor Booking service department

I scheduled, booked, and paid in advance to HomeAdvisor Booking Service Department to have the following work done.
1. Install new outdoor window screens for 20 windows.
2. Repair the outside window frame
3. Install a deadbolt lock on a door.
Booking ID: [protected] Amt Paid: $847.47
The appointment was scheduled for July 20, 2020 at 7 am. Nobody showed up to do the work. I then made 3 attempt to contact a HomeAdvisor representative. The first number [protected] was provided with my project information, when I called all I got was a quick message "Thank you for your call" then it hangs up. I dialed the number 3 times and same result. I then called another number I found on their Contact Us page [protected], the person I spoke to on the phone could not help because the Project was managed by HomeAdvisor Booking Service. She gave me a number to call [protected]. I called and after 30 minutes of waiting a person answer and asked me so basic questions and then hung up. I then called the number again waiting another 30 minutes finally got an automated message "We are sorry we could not find an available agent to speak to you at this time, please contact us help. homeadvisor.com then hung up. Because I can not get in touch with an Agent you can resolve this matter I have no choice but to escalate this until it is resolved.

HomeAdvisor Clogged toilet

I'm filing a major complaint against a Antonio Simpson of All Around Maintenance.. First off, he contacted me after I was seeking help with a plumbing issue saying he could fix it which was great. He comes over and says its a $50 fee to check things. All he did was open the bathroom door and said its a city drainage issue. He then requested the $50 from my mother and during times like these money can't be wasted. We contacted the city and they came and did a flush of the sewer which did not resolve our issue and in fact one of the city workers stated that it was a issue on our side. I called him back over and he didnt even have the proper tools to fix the issue.

1. He asked for gloves be cause he "forgot his."
2. Used my toilet snake because he didnt have one, and then said he needed to go to home depot and buy one for $37 which he expected me
to pay for.
3. Watched as my toilet overflowed and flooded my bathroom floor and left it that way saying he would come back the next day.

We had to contatc Roto Rooter to come out and fix the issue for us.
We are not satisfied nor will we be satisfied until.
A. I have my funds reimbursed to me
B. He's no longer allowed to scam other people out of their money.

Until this is resolved we will do everything possible to publicly highlight his lack of professionaism and lack of accountability and honesty and to also highlight Homeadvisors apparent disregard for customers being provided proper service and negligence to verify the validity of these peoples certifications.

Your web site said they would need two hours to fix my plumbing problem. It only took him one hour to fix the troubling, yet I was charged the full &113.00 that you said was for 2 hours. If I had gone to any plumber in town that hour would have only coast me $85.00. Could you please explain to me why I was charged for the full 2 hours he was here at 7:30, not the 9:00 that it was scheduled for and out for hereby 8:30. Just not understanding? K
