Hillsdale Furniture — King bed collapsed after 5 days of use
Attractive comtemporary Hillsdale Furniture purchased on line from Bedroomfurniture.com.
Hillsdale- Tiburon Kona Platform Bed.
It arrived approx. 5 weeks after it was ordered it. We were away when it arrived so it was not assembled or used until January 2009. After 5 days of use the centre of the bed collapsed with the middle support legs breaking and some of the bed slats near the headboard breadking as well.
The design was flimsy and I had misgivings when asssembling this bed, especially after having just finished assembling a Queen sized bed from WestElm with more than triple the suppport of the Hillsdalea bed which was a KING size vs. the QUEEN size from WestElm. We are thin people so weight was not the issue, it was the poor design with insufficient support to hold the mattress, much less a bed with two adult people with a combined weight of 275 lbs.
I wrote in and send a photo of the broken bed. They emailed that they would be contacting the manufacturer (Hillsdale Furniture) and this was in late january. We are now in March and we have neard nothing.
we had to hire a carpenter to rebuild the bed and reinforce the mattress frame at a cost of $350.00.
