Goodyear incompetent repair

I bought a used car with low miles from a neighbor, who had purchased the car new. The car had every service performed at Quail Springs Goodyear since new, with documentation to prove it. A few days after buying the car, I decided to do an oil change. I do my own service and have been changing oil on my own cars for over 30 years. When I went to pull the old oil filter off, I discovered it had been cross threaded onto the mounting bolt. The filter had to be wrenched off the entire way. Examining the threads, it was apparent that the technician at Quail Springs Goodyear had crossthreaded the oil filter, messing up the threads on the mounting bolt. I cannot imagine how incompetent this technician was, oil filters are always put on with your hands, never a wrench. The new filter had to be wrenched on also due to the messed up threads.
I went to Quail Springs Goodyear with the old filter and confronted the owner. He admited they had done all of the oil changes but denied any wrongdoing or responsibility for the incompetent work of his technicians. He was arrogant and unfriendly, and explained it was my problem, not his.
I had been a long time customer of this shop, having purchased several sets of tires. No longer. I believe I have an obligation to warn other car owners in this area about the incompetent work performed at Quail Springs Goodyear.

Goodyear tracker tires

i purchased 2 tires for my pickup in april 2008, they were put on the rear of my truck, on aug.1, 2008 i was driving ding 70 miles an hour and my right rear tire came apart right above the goodyear tracker logo and i hit the ditch, i managed to keep from hitting anything but it scared me and made my right shoulder very sore. i am a nurse and i am traveling very early and i am very disappointed that even with new tires i still have to worry about being stranded on a lonely road even though i did not run over anything the tire was defective. i want to know what is going to be done, those tires were not cheap and they should not be made cheap! i also had to spend extra gas which is not cheap to go to walmart at jasper tx and wait 3 hrs. to get another tire and after working all day yhat was not the way i wanted to spend my afternoon! thank you kathryn welch rt.1 box 2393 pineland tx. 75968

The same situation just occured for me also. I was traveling on interstate 90 August 16th and a rear tire blew out. It has damaged my truck and the rim is also damaged. I was traveling 75 mph (the posted limit). I have yet to contact Good Year or Walmart but will be starting that process today.

Goodyear goodyear credit card

I had to apply for a Goodyear credit card to pay off a hefty bill to fix my truck. I went in to the goodyear office to make a payment. They only except cash. It has now been almost 3 weeks and they are still claiming I never made the transaction. Even though I fax a copy of the receipt to their accouting department. The only number to call is customer service and they are plan out useless. they keep telling me that it could take up to 30 days to get accounting to process my receipt. They cant give you a phone number anywhere and there is nothing else anyone can do to help. I hate this card and I hate customer service at goodyear. I highly recommend that NO ONE get the goodyear card. Dont trust anyone who cant give you there corporate number either

I took my vehicle in for a 40, 000 mile service inquir, y and goodyear gave me a long invoice of things that needed to be repaired including; strut replacement on all four wheels, a wheel alignment, new wiper blades, a 3 unit transmission fluid exchange service, strut cushions on all four wheels, and a new air filter, for a grand total of $2, 408. After taking my 08 Camry (that I have only had 8 months) to Toyota, they found absolutely NOTHING on my car that needed to be replaced or fixed. I saved myself tons of money and Goodyear has lost my business! I feel like I was taken advantage of as a loyal customer and wouldn't refer them to anyone in the future. Make sure you get a second opinion before you service your vehicle there! BUYER BEWARE!

Paid our credit card bill in full (according to the balance due) and the fricken ###s charged accrued interested 4 days after the "paid in full" was applied- so by the time that charge was noticed a late fee was assessed! They are crooks. I have paid many CC off online - over many years, i.e., Lowes, ect & the balance is the balance; no accrued interest tacked on after the fact. Goodyear just lost a faithful customer - my family will find another business (one with morals) to maintain our vehichles & to purchase tires, etc for all 4 vehicles, our boat & camper. I will make sure that everyone I speak to about any vehicle services is more than clear about Goodyear's business practices; and yes, it is Goodyear's business practice as they choose who handles the credit card services & therefore they must agree with the practices of scaming people that is done by Citi Bank!

I applied for a goodyear credit card and waited for over a month to find out that not only had my credit card and bill been sent back to them but they did not make any other effort to call me about my payment being due. Now I sent to them many emails to ask them the reason why but they do not answer me. I am so mad for that...I do not know how to contact them...

Hello there! I bought 4 new tires for my Honda Civic! I drive around 40, 000 miles per a year! The tires was rated for 80k miles. The tires made so much noise and handle like ### on in the rain, snow, and ice. Don't waste your money on GoodYear tires. P205/55R16BW AEAG H2 was the brand. Remember, its a 4cyl car so its almost impossible to burn rudder! Don't go to Wal-Mart to get tires at all! 2 hour wait to just rotate. They don't even check the pressure in the tires! Wasted money!

I moved to Ironwood, MI 2 yrs. ago, from Colorado Springs, CO. I went to replace my goodyear tires but to my disappointment, there was no goodyear dealership any where in our area. I had to settle for firestone tires...
Any comment.

Goodyear fraudulent activity

I had bought a set of 4 good year tires that has a cash back rebate of $40. I filed all the requisite forms. Good year instead of sending me a check send me a VISA debit card issued by JP Morgan Chase of NA. when I went use the card, the merchant told me that the card has expired. I called the customer service number but they told me that it is wrong number. The web address of Chase was listed under customer service. I went chase website and contacted them. They said they do not have any info even if they are the one who issued the card on behalf of Good year. They said they are not responsible. I do not understand why they list their website for customer service.Any way I believe that this is fraud as by Caifornia law gift cards should not expire. It is my money. I am wandering how many other people have the same problem and what can be done.

I brought my Santa Fe to Good year to repair a check engine light that continued to come on and off. I was told it needed extensive work besides the repair to the check engine light. I dealt with a gentleman named Kevin. The repair work was done and paid for in the amount of $1,943.94 and after two days the check engine light came back on. I was told it would cost another diagnostic fee if the problem was due to something else. When I picked up the car I was told if it comes back again to take it to Aamco because Good year could not repair the car. I was surprised that they wouldn't be able to repair the car and even gave me coupons for Aamoco. I also wonder why Good year would charge me for all this work on the car and then say take it to Aamco for more work. The light came back on and I took the car to a Hyundai dealer. They told me that most of the work that was done did not need to be done and it should have been under warranty anyway. I was told that the timing belt is what is causing the whole problem and Good year wasted my time and my money. I called to speak to Mike and when I told him what the dealer said he got abusive and hung up on me. Obviously, he will not deal with any complaints about his business practices. I feel that he should refund most of my money since he could not repair the car, did things that did not need to be done and would not talk to me at all on the phone. I have no other recourse since Mike is the owner and will not even consider talking about what was done to the car and what the dealer said. I also brought in another car I own to have the back window motor repaired before the trouble with the Santa Fe. I paid almost $350.00 for that and waited over a week for the repair. I now feel I paid too much for that repair and the repair done may not have even been needed.

I took my Fleet care into this Goodyear for shaking steering wheel, vehicle and oil change, all that was done was a oil change. They had bad customer service, owner was arguing and cussing my boyfriend and refused to check tires and said, " they have good tread, fix them yourself if you think there is a problem". What is that? As a consumer I wouldnt ever recommend this place. Think before you go to this JANK place.

This is same crap that just happened to me. I buy online at Goodyear.com where I see the rebate. They send me to a dealer across town for installation stating I HAD TO GO THERE TO QUALIFY FOR REBATE. I then am sent an email denying me the rebate because I bought the tires from an not goodyear authorized dealer? What? I am reporting to State Attorney General and BBB. They sent me this denial notice on a sunday morning!

I went to Sears website and got the full price of a set of tires with all the options inculed witch was $583.00. I ended up paying $692.21. A differance of $109.21. I think this is false advertizing. If not then they should send me the differance. What you think.

Seriously? The tires and sensor system were replaced less than two weeks later jack hole? The complaint is the obvious incompetent service I recieved BUT why is the "owner" telling my boyfriend, "if you think theres something wrong with the tires fix them yourself", arguing and cussing? The dealership wrote a form STATING and let me quote this for ya, " the tires are in bad shape with needing replacement, and new sensor system, its out of alignment, unsafe to drive". WOW! AGAIN, dont use this business-they SUCK and obviously no customer service. Complaints have been filed related to this buisness. SUCK ON!

After inspecting the tires we informed Enterprise fleet service with a tread depth of 8/32 (new ones have 10/32) and no irregular condition, they did not want to approve tires. WE DO NOT MAKE THAT DECISION! We cannot install tires without authorization from fleet. You did not like that decision and took it out on us and continued to argue with us when we did not/do not have the authority to put them on.

I find it absolutely hilarious when people claim fraud for rebates. I don't understand why its so hard for you to understand how to get the rebate you deserve...step one: fill out the paperwork, step two: attach receipt, step three: mail it in before the postmark date. Companies give you a MONTH to send in your information so if you get denied or don't receive your rebate due to the postmark its your own dumb fault. Also, the products that qualify for the rebate, and when they need to be purchased are listed right on the paperwork, so there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to understand it. If you fill out the rebate form correctly and send it in on time the company will sent you your money. Also the companies have to set a date to close the rebates so if you don't call the company and let them know you haven't received your rebate within a certain time and they cant reissue it to you, maybe you shouldn't have waited to long to do something about it. I mean come on, you have SIX months to use the gift card, SIX MONTHS, I know when I get a check or gift card that bad boy is spent within a week. So how about taking a little responsibility for your own actions and quit thinking every business is out to get poor little old you.

I also went into Goodyear on July 27, 2008 for a "service engine soon" repair on my 2002 Saturn SL . I made an appointment for 9:00am and since I have been going to this particular dealer for over 2 years, was very confident they would find the problem. I called at 12:30pm to find out the status of my repairs. I was informed that they had not even looked at it yet. Called again at 2:30pm and was told by Tim that they were still looking at it and was quickly hung up on. At about 3:30pm I finally got a call stating that they had done a diagnostic test and determined that there was a system leak, but they would have to have the car brought in again on July 28 for another diagnostic test to locate the proper faulty component. Told them to take the car off the rack and would come and pick it up. When I arrived the mechanic (Clifford) told me they would have to pull the gas tank, the tires, etc. to find out which side the leak was coming from. They were sorry for the inconvenience for making me wait so long, charged me the $95 dollar fee for the test and sent me on my way. I feel quite fortunate that they did make me wait so long, because if they would have taken my car on time, I might have done exactly what you did...paid the money for repairs that I do not feel they were capable of doing. I informed Tim and Clifford that I had always been treated fairly and there was no excuse for their attitude and they had lost me as a customer. They didn't seem to mind...I quess Goodyear doesn't need the business!

Goodyear bounce in the tires

I've had the tires for about 2 years, and in the past few months noticed a chugging feeling when I'd be driving in idle (no gas or brake applied) through a parking lot. It wasn't noticable though at high speeds.

I asked about it when I had the oil changed and tires rotated, and the technician at the Goodyear Service center told me that there was a definite "bounce" in the tire, and that it was made worse when he rotated the tires. So he put them back the way they were and called Goodyear. As a result of whatever was wrong, I am now getting a new set of tires courtesy of Goodyear.

Has anyone else had similar issues with the tires or is this a one-off defect?

Goodyear defective products!

My daughter bought 4 tires from Belle Tire in November of 2006. 14 month later the front two tires are defective and need replacing -- Belle Tire told her it was her fault because the car needed alignment and tire rotation. They would not stand by their tires and would not work with her on a price adjustment, when I talked to the manager he was not concerned about losing customers or being unreasonable. There are to many tire places to go to. I would never go back to Belle Tire!

People need to take responsibility for their own actions or lack of. A failure to follow manufactures vehicle maintenance schedule will result in poor tire wear. Read your owners manual for the vehicle and educate yourself regarding monthly tire inspections, air pressure checks, and proper intervals for tire rotation.

Goodyear rip-off fees!

About 18 months ago (might have been longer) I was in dire need for better tires on my car so I went to Goodyear in my area and they hooked me up with GE Money Bank w/ a $300 limit. I am a full-time college student on disability and also take care of my aging mother. With so many problems going on in my personal life I failed to notice the fine print on their disclosure until it was too late. I have problems at times making payments on schedule (although they do eventually get paid). Because of a couple of late fees ($29.00 each), my balance went over the $300 limit which GE adds additional fees such as over the limit fee (another $29.00 monthly), then another fee called Account Security which is about $13 and of course, they have to have the *finance charge* (which around the first quarter of 2007 was about $20)... with all these charges, I am not paying any of the principal off and my balance continually increases. If they would go back and compute the payments that have made, I have already paid for the tires. They just want to keep getting more and more money. I have thought about just stop paying them. My credit has already been ruined Verizon (which I refuse to pay because after my phone was stolen and I had them to deactivate my cell and instead of mine, they deactivated my two children's @$175/phone then charged me for their mix-up to reactivate theirs... again @ $175/phone) and Fingerhut (where someone must have bought something behind my back when I stayed at home). GE don't need the money anyway except to pay the foreigners overseas to forever harassing for payments.

After being desperate enough to have to open a charge, I occured late rates and over the top interest rates because of paying on line. I would not have been late as I am an informed consumer and know that they tack on the high rates of late charges and over the top interest rates if you are. For some reason they didn't get my payment on line and now I am stuck paying the high rates. Something needs to be done about this practice. Thank you for your consideration

This was before Christmas. I had a flat and took it to the Goodyear location in Plano, texas where I purchased it. I went in early in the morning and was told it would not be ready until noon. I said I have to go to work and they said leave it here and we will call you when it is ready. No one called me all day. around 5:30 p.m. I called them and could not get anyone. So I drove over there it was a good hours drive from my job. I had not too long before that purchase 4 new tires from them, this was one of them. So when I got there I asked for my tire and the guy looked like he could not find it. He went in the back and then came back and told me, that I would have to buy a new one for 68.dollars because it was not repairable and it was over the miles it was covered for. Well then I started crying what could I do? I was only a woman who knew nothing but what they were telling me. If they had called me earlier, they would have saved me a trip and I could have bought a tire elsewhere cheaper on my lunch hour. I was very distraught, because I have to work everyday and don't have time to go shopping for tires in the middle of the night and driving forever on long lollways with an emergency tire. I was very stressed. it seemed to me they could have called me or made a better deal than that. I wrote their corporate office and was told that they had forwarded my complaint back to the place I was complaining about and that they were going to contact me about it. Of course they never did. I just feel frustrated dealing with a company that doesn't care about women, just takes their money and then ignores them. I will never buy from them again.

Goodyear false charges!

In August, I signed up and purchased 4 Goodyear tires in the Goodyear dealer in Los Angeles. At that time. they had the ad of $40 rebate and tickets for San Diego Zoo as a offer of 1 year no interest finance plan. So I applied and got credit $600, and purchased 4 tires with the so called credit card.

About 2 weeks later, the San Diego Zoo tickets delivered by mail. And another 2 weeks later, second mail delivered requesting the invoice which I summit already. But I mailed another copy anyway.

Since then, I never received any information until November, a letter from them saying I was paying my payment late, the late charge $29 plus extra interest $10.73 I should pay, they denied it was 1 year finance but a 3 month finance. The thing is August to November was just 3 month and they started to charge late fee and interest. And most infamous, they insisted that they mailed the statement, and the rebate was inside the statement.

They say they don't issue a credit card. Just like other frauds committed by many credit companies, they:

1. Issue no credit card, but says giving credit card in the ad.
2. Do mail the statement until the finance time passed, and mail a late payment notice.
3. Another falsely ad such as 1 year finance.

I heard the government had no way to control these credit card company fraud. I don't believe so, any one had the same experience, I would contact with them and get things strengthened.

I was urged to apply for credit by the local Goodyear store, but was turned down. My credit score is 629, which is rated "average". They listed several reasons why my application was turned down, every one of which is reflected in my credit score. I am in the process of repairing my credit after it was wrecked by a medical emergency which required surgery and 2 months in a hospital, yet I have gotten it back up to 629, which they mentioned in the letter. I find it VERY difficult to believe that they do not extend credit unless your credit score is HIGHER than "average", so I have to wonder what the REAL reason was...now I will have an inquiry on my credit report, and credit denied. My advice to ANYONE who is considering applying for credit from them to RUN...do NOT WALK...to the nearest exit!

Ok, just a few minutes ago my friend came for some advice because she is getting billed for more than 1900 dollars and guess whaaaat? she never did such a purchase, I am in the process of getting information together, details about the purchase, identifying who did the transaction, who installed the tires and no information is available nor in the system funny uh? so I have some suggestions from a broker and an attorney and I will help my friend to go to the bottom of this fraud. I encourage you to do the same and stop this (civil litigation/criminal prosecution)

I think GOODYEAR CREDIT PLAN is a total ripoff. Their billing system for the first three months is a joke. There were no due dates on these statements so they tacked on late fee for each month. I had to spend time on the phone to get it all straightened out. One rep was nasty so I hung up and called back to speack with a more responsive individual. My most recent bill has a late charge on it because they posted it one (1) day after the due date. Have they not heard of a grace period? I mailed it in time for them to post it on time. It amazes me that they can get away with this behavior.

I just cancelled my Goodyear credit account after they lied about the no payments for 6 months option and I ended up losing over 100 points on my credit score because of it. I tried to discuss the issue with one of their managers but her response was that it wasn't a bank error so they can't do anything about it. They have lost my business and any shops that try to peddle their lies will not get my business either.

Goodyear - drivability problems

We had a set of four Tripletread Goodyear's on our 2003 Honda Odyssey and it has a terrible problem of the steering wheel shaking violently from side to side. This is not a pull to the right or to the left, it is a shaking of the steering wheel from side to side. Of course Honda's comment was it is the tires, and Goodyear says it is the van. (DUH!) I...

We bought a complete set of Goodyear Assurance Comfortred tires from a Goodyear Service Center. We began having the oil changed and the tires rotated every three to four thousand miles. All work was performed by the same Goodyear Service Center. The tires were quiet and smooth as advertised... but... after about 10,000 miles, the tires began to sound a...

Goodyear - terrible tread wear

I've been a longtime Goodyear customer and went with the Goodyear Assurance tires paying nearly $500 installed. I was impressed with the information and program around the tires. However after only 32,000 miles the tires needed replacement. Of course they pro-rated the new tires but at this rate I'll pay over $250/tire as a lifetime cost to get to the...

Goodyear lost a customer for life!

A few years ago I took my car into the Goodyear service station in the Canyon Park area of Bothell, WA. I had made an appt. to have a full tune-up done, and in addition, replace all 4 tires.

I dropped it off and walked home (about a mile) because they said the job would take them several hours due to it being a busy day. About 1/2 an hour after I got home, the front desk person called me and she said that the tires my car needed weren't in stock. I felt like they should have had them there since I'd made an appointment and all, but what can you do? So I asked her how long it would take to get the tires in. She said 3 to 4 days.

Of course, I would rather not wait so I asked her if there was anything else we could do...maybe have them transferred today from another nearby Goodyear. She said they couldn't do that, but that they did have some tires in stock that were of a lower speed rating. Now let me say that I don't know a heck of a lot about cars, but this seemed fishy to me. I asked her, "Is that safe? Can that be done without harming the car?" She said "Yep. It's no big deal to downgrade the tires. In fact, it will be cheaper for you."

So I agreed. Big mistake. I got my car from them later that day and as soon as I drove out of the parking lot I noticed my car was pulling to the left really hard. I immediately turned around, drove back in and explained that the car was pulling to the left. I asked her if they had aligned the car after putting the tires on and she said yes. Just to be sure she had the mechanics check the alignment. They could find nothing wrong. I then explained to her that the car was not pulling before I brought it in and now it was, therefore logic says it must be something Goodyear had done. She said, and I quote, "We didn't cause this problem.

There is clearly some other mechanical problem with your car and we can't fix it. You need to take it to another garage." I should note that when this happened, my car was about 3 1/2 years old and had *never* had any mechanical problems (at 6 1/2 years now, I still have never had a problem except this one).

I was pretty angry but you can't MAKE someone work on your vehicle. So I took it to another garage, one that specializes in Subarus. I explained the situation to them and they said they'd have a look. As soon as the mechanic had it up on the lift, he came out and said, "This car has the wrong kind of tires on it. It requires a higher rated tire. You can't go down in ratings. You have to get the correct tires put on it and until you do, I would not drive it on the freeway. It's unsafe at high speeds." And of course, they charged me $70 for their time.

I took it back to Goodyear with the paperwork explaining the problem from the other mechanic. The front desk woman got flustered and first told me that the other garage was wrong. Lower rated tires were fine and I should just go away. Then she said, "How do we even know it's actually pulling? I only have your word for this." I handed her the keys and said "Drive it yourself." She refused but she did get a mechanic from their shop to come out with me. Now this is the fun part...we get out on the road and he says "Yeah this thing is really pulling...so what's the deal here? What's the situation?" Apparently she hadn't explained the scenario to him. All she had told him was to ride with us and verify if the car was pulling. So I told him about the lower tire ratings and he IMMEDIATELY interrupted me and said "Oh no! You can't do that. You can't put a lower rated tire on this car. I can't believe she told you that. She really should know better." Her own mechanic busted her!

We got back and I finally got Goodyear to agree to replace the tires with the correct ones. I had to pay the fee to upgrade of course which is fine; the correct ones were more expensive tires after all. However, I felt that Goodyear should take $70 off the price given that I had to pay another garage $70 to get them to admit their mistake. They refused. I was told "You went to that other garage by your own choice. We didn't tell you to go someplace else." But the thing is...they did tell me to go to another garage! When I asked to speak to their manager I was told they didn't currently have a manager and that he had been fired the week before. No wonder the place was in a shambles.

I tried to write corporate to correct the problem. I explained it and laid it all out to them as I did here. I even attached copies of my receipts from both Goodyear visits and my visit to the other garage (with the part that explained the mistake by Goodyear). The response? About what you'd expect: A letter thanking me for being a good customer a few coupons for $10 off an oil change. Like I'm ever going back to Goodyear to use those coupons!

I think what bothers me the most is even in the end, that front desk person wouldn't admit her mistake. She wanted me to drive off in a car that was unsafe to drive, all because she refused to admit she'd been wrong. I also wish corporate had been willing to make some real effort to make up for the problem, but oh well. Goodyear has pretty much lost a customer for life as far as I'm concerned. They may overall be a good company, but it only takes one negative experience like this to put a bad taste in your mouth for dealing with them.

My first experience itself is like hell.
I ordered 4 tires under mail/rebate offer, their customer representative confirmed me i can file rebate of $75 after tire installation.

Now customer representative are saying those tires are not eligible for rebate and we cant do anything about it.

Shame on your services.

I took my car to Goodyear Master service center on Salem and Otterbein in Dayton Ohio to have a tire replaced.

They pulled my car in the garage and told me to wait in the waiting room. I did.. Then I realized I had left my purse in my car and walked in the garage to get it out of my car.
When the manager "Darrel" seen me in the garage he literally man handled me by the arm, and drug me back to the lobby. I was livid!

I told him give me my F'ing keys and I am leaving! He did not want to listen to anything I had to say... I left and will never be back.
