GoldCar Rental Unauthorized credit card charge

I made an online reservation of a car rental before my trip to Malta. When we arrived, the car was picked up on the 22nd of july, 2019, and returned impecable and with a full tank as requested on the a car on the 26th of that same month. I was on time for both the pick up and de returnal of the car. No extra fees were charged and everything as alright according to the employee.
On the 31st of october 2019, an unauthorized charge of 29, 92 euros appeared on my credit card.
I tried to call the company but none of my efforts resulted in anyone taking the call...
I demand a full refund of those 29, 92 euros as I didn't have anthing left to pay.

GoldCar Rental Car hire

On August 7th 2019, I hired a car from Goldcar (Spain) at Gerona Airport (returning the car on August 21st 2019.
When I got home from holidays, I found that Goldcar had illegally taken €453 from my Credit Card. I contacted their Customer Services (cs@glodcar.com) and raised an online incident with them, explaining what had happened and requesting that the money be returned.
In response, I was told it was for 'extra' charges, such as diesel (even though I returned the car full of diesel) and for a "super relax insurance cost" (which I never requested).
Besides, I had paid the "full" cost of the car hire (to Ryanair) in advance of the trip.
Despite many calls to Goldcar "Customer Service" (or disservice... twice, they actually hung up the phone!) and despite raising further 'incidents' on their system, the stolen money has never been returned ot my card.
I would strongly advise people never to hire a car from this unlawful outfit.

GoldCar Rental Gold car sold me an insurance without my agreement

I booked a car with gold car. When I came to pick up the car the employee told me to take an insurance. As I did not wanted to he told me that if I did not take this insurance he would cancel my booking. I had no choice. I know it is not legal to act like that. I would like to have the refund for the price I paid for an insurance that I did not want and I did not booked.
The credit card that we used would be ok to be used to save a garantee instead of having to pay for the insurance, but the seller did not want to use it, he just wanted to sell an insurance more.
I sent you the initial booking, if you need some more documents let me know. Thank you

GoldCar Rental Rent

I visited Corfu island 17-24.10.and rent a car on 18.10., through application Ryanair for period 19-24.10. I payed premium insurance for this car and write where I want it to pick it up - in front of hotel. After that, money is taken from my account and my troubles starts.

1.In confirmation mail I saw different pick up adress than the one I request,

2.I saw that company asks for 1200eur deposit.

I tried to cancel reservation, but help support who was holding me more than one houir reject to cancel my booking free od charge and reject to receive complaint. Anyhow I send them one more complant via email.

Since I didn`t have option, I went to changed adress to pick up car and gave to rent a car company debit cards so they can hold 1200 eur as they requested. Then they ask me to pay additional insurance 94, 96 eur or bank fees 95 eur and 1227 eur they would hold. If I cancelled, they wouldn`t give me back money I already paid for renting and premium insurance. I didn`t have any other option than to pay and decide to inform everyone that my customer rights are violated.

I expect someone to help and to inform all potential buyers of Ryan rent a car and Goldcar rental services.

GoldCar Rental Madrid airport goldcar rental

I have been renting cars all over the world for 15 years and Goldcar Madrid Airport was my worst car-rental experience ever, by far!
Sales staff were rude, pushy insulting and agressive.
On arrival hidden charges and constraints were revealed, making it impossible to rent the car unless I purchased additional insurance.
Avoid Goldcar at all costs!

GoldCar Rental Overcharge for car rental

Agreement no: [protected] Attn Customer service complaint.

With reference to agreement number [protected] as detailed below.

When I hired this car a Faro Airport for 3 days 13-15 August 2019 the invoice you gave me and I signed for was for €100.18 more than on the agreement detailed below because I upgraded.

You have charged my credit card a total of €225.48 and have not sent me any details of these extra charges?

I have spoken to your customer service and they told me I have been charged extra for bringing the car back with no fuel/Gas in. This is totally incorrect I always bring the rental cars back full of fuel!

GoldCar Rental Ripped off

Gold car emailed me an invoice for €32.10 after hiring a car from them in Barcelona. They originally took €1111.33 from my Barclaycard at point of hire then returned only €967.09 after we returned to the UK. Resulting in a €144 charge for a €32 invoice.
Trying to get through to customer service is an absolute nightmare so unless you're prepared to get ripped off avoid this company at all costs.

GoldCar Rental Car rental

Rental [protected] Garry Bainbridge.
I ordered a car from 22nd to the 28th of September, I prepaid for this with a free extra driver(which I did not need) and full to full fuel on the contract, I took out annual cover from the uk.

When I arrived in Malaga a goldcar representative there was, I presumed, very efficient, I stated that I did not need cover as had already purchased. He said that I had already prepaid but he needed a credit card for a deposit for the fuel not being returned full and also a deposit for the bodywork in case of damage, both of which would be fully refunded when the car was checked, and an email would be sent to confirm this.

I returned the vehicle with a full tank of fuel and no marks on the bodywork.
Three days later no email or refund was forthcoming so I rang goldcars uk number and spoke to birmingham airport goldcar.
I was shocked to hear that I had been charged for an extra driver even though this was free of charge on my prepaid contract and also wasn't required, also charged for smart return without petrol, which my prepaid contract clearly states I wanted full to full fuel, and finally an insurance policy called cover super flex which I never asked for as I had stated I didn't need insurance.
None of this was written on the paperwork given to me or voiced by the representative.
I was then flabbergasted to read on twitter and facebook that this seems to be goldcars business model to add extra charges.

GoldCar Rental Car rental for 1 week

Portugal holiday car hire 22nd september 2019 for 7 days

Hired a car and pre paid for it. Pre paid for 1 weeks insurance with zurich

Got to faro airport to pick up the car not the one I booked, they told me I could not have the car unless I took out there insurance, they said it would cost 144 euro under protest I agreed to pay on my debit card. On arrival home I checked my bank statement and found they had taken out 311 euro. = £288.98. + what I had pre paid £118.

Totally disgusted. Total scam. This company should be closed down.

GoldCar Rental Goldcar rental company charging additional fees after car was returned without any damage or issue

Dear all,

I was charged a 7 EUR extra for the fuel and also "full to full penalty" of 50 EUR that I did not returned the car with the full tank.

When I returned the car, the person provided the inspection confirmed that the car was returned in the conditions that are meeting the contract policy. I singed the document that confirms that (find attached). I was not informed about any problem with the insufficient fuel. I was also informed that the deposit from my credit card will be returned within 3 days and no extra money will be charged. Apart from the toll charges but this was agreed when signing the contact.

And now I received the information to my email that I will be charged 50 EUR for braking the policy. This is not a fair behaviour and totally disagree with this. I put a full tank in the nearby gas station and after that I drove straight to the car rental - Goldcar.

I inputed the gasoline full tank at this petrol station near the airport on Friday 27/09/2019 - A.S. SANTO TIRSO (PO SANTOTIRSO, PRT, A28 - Km 12 - Modivas, 4485-781 Labruge, Portugal. I paid this amount in EUR by my card: 52, 38 EUR which was for the full tank.

I follow all the rules and I am so sad and disappointed that my holidays ended in such an unfriendly way.

GoldCar Rental Unethical behaviour

Upon returning hire car to Almeria Airport your staff member claimed there was damage to the vehicle. A small dent above rear wheel arch. As can be clearly seen on my screenshot taken on the 03/09/19 this damage was clearly visible and it was pointed out to a a Goldcar staff member in car park on that date. I categorically deny damaging the vehicle in any way. I was charged 1231eu and a further 250eu on my credit card on the 24/09/19. A total of 1481 eu...This is a fraudulent claim by your company and I insist on a full refund.
It is my intention to carry out a full "Denuncia" upon your company as soon as I return to Spain should this matter not be dealt with and a full refund immediately. I also want a full breakdown of your charges and receipts for same.
Following research into your company it is obviously clear that you have a large history of fraudulent claims and scamming customers. .
Trust me a full Denuncia will be carried out by me and also to https://www.citizensadvice.org.es/.../COMPLAINTS-FORMS... citizens advice in Spain if this not dealt with to my satisfaction.
Take a look at my dated screenshot and it shows damage already there.

GoldCar Rental Contract [protected].

I rented a car in Portugal Lisbon from 3 of August to 17.. with "LOVELY COMPANY GOLDCAR.
After a week i received all the invoice on my email.
The amount of 58.18 Eur for the tolls charge was tooked twice! I have spoke with them about this issue.. they asking me to proof that! I have sent a credit card statement with double transaction charge.
Few emails i sent to them to give me an update regarding refund progress, didn't get any replay yet.
Still no refund! .

Absolute sham of a company. DO NOT USE! They fraudulently take more money on arrival which they say is an additional deposit on return it turns out that you will never see it again!
Paid an additional £400 on arrival at Palma Airport to be told it was a deposit that would be returned... total lies it was actually for additional insurance and tax! Which we've been told will not be returned to us! Do not be drawn in by the low online rates. THIEVES!

Booked and paid for 3 cars with 3 separate drivers
Arrived 20 mins late at Palma airport 16/09/19
Attended a desk at Palma 30 minute wait for car rental to be given a ticket and told to them go to Gold car desk at wait for our ticket number on the screen. 2 hours later our first number was called
Attended the desk given paperwork and then first driver was told he had to pay an additional 375€ as a deposit before we could take the car! Second drivers number called and told we had to pay an additional 400.50€ as a deposit which we repeatedly questioned were we going to get it back and we were assured that up to 7 days after we returned the car it would be returned to us in full! This was queried approximately 5 times and every time they confirmed that it was just a deposit and we would get this additional cost back!
Our 3rd friend waiting patiently in the queue finally got called only to be told their car reservation had been cancelled as they had gone over the 3 hour limit since our flight arrived and would have to make a new reservation and pay again! At this point our 3rd driver politely told them to shove it and we would continue with just two cars!
We then proceeded to the car collection point and patiently queued again getting served this time about 30 minutes after collecting the paperwork... we were then informed our car wasn't available it had been rented out to another customer but they would sort out a better specification car for us at no extra cost (how kind of them)! We were told it was a brand new car with no scratches or dents ...(what a joke) on seeing the vehicle covered in scratches and dents (photos taken) I decided to go back to the office to get someone to come and review the vehicle and make notes of all the damage (approximately another 30 mins wasted)! Our friends in car 2 also decided to drive round to get their car looked at as it again was covered in scratches and the drivers door would not close at all this then resulted in the Goldcar representative agreeing to then get them an alternative car!
We left Palma airport 4 hours after we landed with a very sour taste in our mouths regarding Gold car and their shoddy service!

We returned the cars in exactly the same condition as we hired them both with full tanks of fuel. Keys were put in the box at the airport

4 days after our return to England we received a minimal amount returned on our cards which we both presumed was for the fuel we had replaced!
I then decided to phone gold car to confirm when we would be getting the deposits back in full
Firstly on giving all contract numbers I was told when you return the vehicle... to which I said I returned it on the 23rd and she quickly corrected herself and said "oh yes I see that and you've had your deposit returned already"
To which I replied no we've not we've only received the fuel money and then she told me that the rest of the extra money we paid was for tax and extra insurance not a DEPOSIT! And we won't be getting it back!

There is no other way of putting this other than we were blatantly lied to at the Palma Airport Goldcar desk and they have fraudulently taken our money with no intention of ever returning it! This is a scam and if our money is not returned in full I will be contacting CMA (Spain trading standards)

GoldCar Rental No deposit refund

Hello, I have a problem with deposit refund from GOld Car. I rent a car by Do you spain agency. I bought special insurance in Zurich Insurance ( Platinum Excess policy nr 9048654). On the airport Gold Car employee took for us 405e and told us in English, that is a deposit, which will be refund when we return the car. He did't show us valuation, he only told us amount. We show him our Zurich Insurance, he knew about it, but he counted some Gold Car insurance. We didn't know abot it. All documents are in Spanish, we translate it when we back home. Now, we get back only 81e from 405 that he promised to back. I paid this "deposit", because I didn't know that is not refundable second insurance, which we didn't need. Gold car insurance policy was sold us without my knowledge.
I saw the invoice only after the card transaction was approved.
Gold car seller has been informed that we have our insurance, and yet he pushed their own.
He used our tiredness, ignorance of the Spanish language and the queue that was behind us. When we were booking the car by Do you spain website, they assured us, that there will be no extra fees and know, we lost 320e...

GoldCar Rental Unsuitable vehicle, rude and pushy sales staff, unexplained penalty fees

We booked a C Max car for the period of 7 -21 September 2019, instead we were given an Astra estate, which was filthy dirty on pick-up. A C Max or similar was requested for the specific reason, and an Astra estate is not in my opinion a similar vehicle and was in fact totally unsuitable.

The woman who dealt with the booking in the office was rude and insistent that additional insurance should be taken out. This was declined as we had already purchased additional full cover insurance.

Due to her persistence of trying to sell a further €190.00 worth of insurance, she did not clearly explained about the fees for not returning the car with a completely full tank of fuel, and we now find we have been charged a fee of €50 plus €11 for fuel.

This fee is ridiculous and totally inappropriate, and disproportionate and we request under the circumstances you reconsider this fee, and refund the €50, we have no objection to paying €11.00 for the fuel.

Finally, instructions need to be provided about the procedure for returning a vehicle, there were no details on where to return the car or how to access the area to return the car.

This is the first and most likely the last time we will use Goldcar for any future car hire during our visits to Spain, and we will share our story with family and friends who also will be making frequent visits to Spain.

GoldCar Rental Rude service, time to issue the car, charges made for damage not caused

We paid 43.97 EURO for 12 days car hire in advance via the 'Do You Spain' website to GOLDCAR, which was obviously an extremely cheap price, however we knew that we would be charged a fuel subsidy and extra admin charges of approximately 60 EUROs locally so a great deal of just over 100 EURO or so we thought...

We arrived at the GOLDCAR desk at Barcelona airport to collect our vehicle at approximately 11.00pm on Thursday 5th September. The initial reception by the guy behind the desk was unfriendly and cold. This attitude got significantly worse once we refused the insurance we were told we needed to buy from them. We already had perfectly legitimate and great value insurance bought via a third party. We were then rudely told that we had to give a credit card and be precharged 1400 EURO as a deposit because we were not taking their insurance. We were already aware of this so duly agreed. The whole admin process became extremely slow at this stage.

We handed over the credit card and driving license to complete the transaction and were then told very abruptly that we could not have the car as the driving license provided was 'not in an acceptable state'. It was a french paper license, perfectly legible although in two seperate parts and in a plastic wallet as it was old. We were told a second driver needed to be paid for and this license used instead. We disputed this and asked where in the terms and conditions this clause was stated, after 10 minutes of the very rude agent trying to find it he eventually gave up and agreed to give the car. Again the process of completing the transaction took an age. We had been at the desk now for approximately 45 minutes with a large queue growing behind us. The adjacent couple also seemed to be having similar problems to us with getting their vehicle.

Just before handing the paperwork to us, we were told that the car was not ready and that we were to go to the pick up point and would have to wait approximatley half an hour. It was now after 12.15 midnight and we were tired having an hours journey ahead of us.

Upon arriving at the pick up point, there was one lady, very busy trying to sort out numerous problems and check out cars and customers. She was obviously understaffed and stressed. After half an hour of waiting we asked when our car would be ready and were told that our vehicle was not clean and would not be ready for at least another hour or two. The guy at the book in desk obviously knew this and lied to us.

After another wait we were offered a downgraded car to what we had booked that we refused. We complained about the time the whole process had taken at this point and asked for the category of car we had reserved and that we wanted to get going. The lady responded by saying ' I was supposed to have finished my shift 30 minutes ago'. No apology or empathy at all!

We were then eventually offered another car at approximately 1am which we accepted. However, as the lady was so busy she just gave us the keys and left, after a check of the car - in the dark and under car park lights - we didnt see any damage so left.

Upon returning the car - at approximately 4.30pm on Tuesday 17th September, without any incidents at all, we went into the office to check the car back in. The staff member on duty was surly and did not even say hello. He then came to our car to inspect the vehicle... accompanied by a high powered light! He proceeded to minutely inspect the car in intricate detail making note of the tiniest and inconsequential surface scratches and swirls in the paintwork! I asked why this process wasnt completed when we checked out the vehicle and that it was impossible for us to have seen these small surface scratches in the lighting provided. The employee did not even acknowledge me and so I asked again, louder, asking him to stop and speak to me. He then started to shout at me saying he was just doing his job and stopped the procedure! I went into the office and asked to speak to the manager. Another - slightly friendlier - guy spoke in spanish to the original employee and I asked if the inspection was complete. He informed me yes and I asked if there was any damage and whether I would have to pay anything. I was told 'NO' and that all was fine. I asked if I needed a receipt and was told again 'NO' and that I would recieve an email and the refund of the deposit in the next day or so.

Lo and behold, upon returning back to the UK, an email was waiting for us with an invoice for 250 Euros charging us for damage to the left wingmirror rear bumper. There were accompanying pictures of superficial scratches of a few centimetres that did not penetrate the paint layer - almost impossible to see without the aid of a high powered light...

GoldCar Rental Falsely charged 4 months after returning the car

Dear Sirs,

SUBJECT: GOLD CAR Sicily, Catania airport CONTRACT [protected],

I have rented a car from GOLDCAR from Catania airport for the period 19 - 29 May 2019. The car was returned to Palermo airport GOLDCAR office as per the contract.
However, the company GOLDCAR has charged my credit card already 4 times in August and September 2019, three times 55 EURO and ones around 35 euro. I have submitted claims to their web site already twice once in august and once on 19 September requesting them to apologise for the mistake and to return the money to my bank account and to issue an apology for the caused inconveniences. I had spent many hours exploring their web sites and social media accounts searching for the right way to contact the company and to acquire information what is going on as well to claim the falsely charged amounts back. unfortunately this is very complex and not easy to accomplish. All I managed to find ways to submit automatic requests and I received some number and nothing has happened already for one month no feedback. in the meantime, they continue to charge my credit card without my authorization and of course without any explanation. in the section where they present invoices it is written that those are car renting charges.

We rented a car in Tuscany for a week in April . For the last 4 months Goldcar has been charging my credit card odd amounts of money that ended up totalling another Euro300. I was told these amounts of Euro55 a time were for traffic fines, and hence administration fees for supplying our name and address to the Italian authorities. I have never received any notification of fines directly from Italian authorities. Is this just one big scam? Needless to say I cancelled my credit card as I feared more charges. We too were charged for both Relax and Super relax insurance.

GoldCar Rental Car rental

I rented a car from GoldCar de Menorca and at the time of pick up they made me make a "deposit" via credit card of 112.00 euros and said that if we delivered the car in perfect condition and with full tank, they would return the full amount. .. when my invoice arrived, to our surprise, they only returned 79.00 euros and they don't want to return the rest and have no reason for it, they are literally stealing us in the hard face and I already sent several emails and they ignore it.
PS: I had to ask a friend who lives in Europe to contact them and ask for the contact email because there is no way I could call Europe and they would not pass ... then after days searching, I found an e-mail on the internet and sent it, they just answered me the first e-mail and then just ignored the others.
