United States Postmaster General
RE: Unprofessional behavior by Wilma Allen
Post office branch sub-contractor
Located at 2827 Grand Ave. Deland Florida, AKA, Glenwood Florida, exists one United States Post office branch operated under private contract by one Wilma Allen. This branch is housed in an old one car garage converted for use as the Glenwood Post office.
The owner of this postal location is the source of gossip and personal information revealed throughout the neighborhood; with no concern for hurt she may cause to others. A stealth investigation will prove this to be a VALID complaint.
I hereby challenge you to INVESTIGATE this complaint. Further, for the good of the community, consideration given to discontinue the contract for this postal location and rid the community of this DISSERVICE.

Glenwood is not DeLand, and DeLand is not "AKA Glenwood." Stating this proves your ignorance.

I doubt the Glenwood Post Office was a garage, but if so, stating that is once was is a rather bizarre complaint, and is a TRUE disservice. This building is well maintained and a true asset to the town of Glenwood. As a youth I painted and maintained the grounds as a service to the community, and my children have done so in the recent past.

Wilma Allen is the president of the Glenwood Civic Association, and is the very definition of "the good of the community." Ridding Glenwood of its wonderful little post office is just about unthinkable. Take your hurt feelings and your stubborn pride and swallow them. Don't attempt to destroy my heritage and my town because someone said something about you.

As a representative of the Federal Government and or USPS, one would think that a "post mistress" would not have the ability to use the post office building or her title as a Government employee to spew her personal views and opinions in news paper articles. I take offence to this as a tax payer and landowner in Volusia County. The USPS should investigate Ms. Allen and take the necessary action to stop her abuse of power.

Looks like Glenwood IS in the 32720 area code. Somebody needs to check their facts. Maybe the paint fumes got to his head. Heck, maybe he painted the wrong USPS building all together back in the day...Just saying

GO SUCK WIND!!! What a pompous thin skin twerp!!! WHO CARES what she sez. Glenwood is a old time laid back town, just like in the better times when we didn't have all this PC garbage and persons went to the barber shop, post office or wherever neighbors met just for the purpose of gossip. That was a time when one did not demand that the government take away another's freedom of speech!!! If you don't like it don't go back and if enough people feel the same way she does they won't go back either and she will go out of business but I bet most love it there and have no desire to go to a sterile PO like downtown Deland. Since when do we take ones right away to speech just because they are a Gov employee. Besides she is a REAL community organizer and does much good for the community!!
Oh and by the way I DID CHECK THE FACTS THE ZIP CODE FOR GLENWOOD it is 32722 NOT 32720
    Zip Code: 32722
    City: Glenwood
    State: FL
    Counties: VOLUSIA, FL
    Multi County: No

Stuff you paint fumes where the sun don't shine - just sayin'.

I have lived in Glenwood for most of my life, which is approaching five decades in length. The Glenwood ZIP code is 32722, not 32720. Never-the-less, ZIP codes often cross city limits. We most definitely DO NOT live in DeLand, in fact, we have fought annexation by DeLand three times since 1980. Looks like you're the one with crooked facts. I'll just say it again in case you're thick skulled. Glenwood is Glenwood. It's not Lake Helen, Volusia, Samsula, Barberville, Pierson, Seville, Cassadega, Deleon Springs, Orange City, or a score of other towns around DeLand, and it's not DeLand. It's Glenwood.

For postal purposes only: 32722 is for the contract station's Post Office Box Section. There isn't a Glenwood Florida address outside the contract station. "Glenwood" physical zip code is 32720, Deland, Fl. Everyone have a great Day!!

Wilma Allen and the Glenwood Post Office are more than an asset to the community. It is more like the community center where you greet your neighbors, drop off and pick up excess citrus from the bench next to the front door. Wilma distributes her good will as generously as the neighbors share their surplus produce. The "gossip" Wilma shares is news that Neighbor Jones is sick and could use a homecooked meal, that Neighbor Smith's dog is missing so please keep an eye out for the pooch. The a home was burglarized yesterday so keep your doors locked. THAT'S the "gossip" Wilma shares, to the benefit of the entire community. She gives Glenwood all the characteristics of an earlier, friendlier, kinder hometown. The uniqueness of the zip code is as unique as the special community. If you ask Wilma's opinion about a news article, expect to hear her honest, constitutionally guaranteed free speech opinion. If you don't want to know, don't ask.
