FunMobile.com Scammers

BEWARE! This company has billed me $10.00 each month. I have spend almost 3 hours with Bell Mobility (Ontario) trying to figure this case out. They got my number by being sold possibly by a 3rd party. THey also are apparently based out of Nigeria and they are a scam company. I was advised to do the following:

1. Call [protected] and ask to delete account.

2. Call [protected] and ask to delete account.

3. Text message to 99621 and say stop

4. Email [protected]@funmobile.com and [protected]@funmobile.com and ask to opt out. But BEWARE use a junk email account because they will probably sell your email.

5. Now I have to go change my number which will cost me $20.00. UGGGGGGGGGGGG once the number is changed the text messages will not be able to go through.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions email me at [protected]@hotmail.com with title of funmobile scam and I will answer.

Cheers

Hi everyone, I too am a victim of this scam. I have found however the trail leading to the so called Pres/CEO of this scam service... His name is Christian Heileson, the address is 197 Portland Street, Boston, MA 02114. The phone number is the same that you are to call to get customer service, [protected]. Although I did not use the service. I was unsure of how to cancel. I was texted by the company and texted the message back to them. It read as follows: 4help: [protected]@funmobile.com Cxl txt STOP USD. I sent this text to them and I received a text back which stated "SERVICE IS CANCELED".

I can't unsubscribe from this site. I never ordered it to begin with. I'm being charged for text messages. I'm not going to pay! From what I read on this site no one has a solution. I do! Change your number. If thats what I have to do I will.

I wrote the FCC and they claim they do not regulate the cell phone industry and suggested I write my state office of consumer affairs. Also, I am writing my elected reps and sending this web-site and my local TV station who sometimes picks up on these rip-offs and profiles them. My question to Verizon is " If this is a third party company, why are you billing and collecting on their behalf?" I agree, we'll get these thieves sooner or later!

That's exactly what I did, I changed my number, my password, everything! But I don't know how well that will work.

I suggest everybody contact the Attorney General within their state. I also am going to contact their registrar and am going to find out about serving a complaint through ICANN.

We'll get this sucker EVENTUALLY.

I can't speak for any other cell service providers, but Bell Mobility lies outright about this. Yesterday I received 4 text messages from www.mypictures.bell.ca. I have never been to this web site. Each text message was labeled "Unidentified Sender, " and prompted me to go to this site. One of these text message offered a password prompt (7708). The liar-of-the-day at Bell Mobility (Kevin) said that these messages were originating from my visits to the "mypictures" site which I had never visited. Then, when I told him that, he said they must be originating from some friend of mine who wants to share pictures. Well, first, I only have 2 friends who text me... ever... and neither of them has heard of "mypictures." Second, why is Bell allowing text messages to come to my phone with the label, "Unidentified Sender?" This has got to be the scummiest business going. And when they brought in these increased prices for texting, we were told this would NEVER happen. Liars. So I cancelled ALL text to my phone. When my contract is concluded, I'll also be canceling my contract with Bell.

All. I may have a solution. My daughter was also getting stupid jokes for the past month. I initially replied back to a text message to the # 99621 and typed "Stop. End service". I received an email back saying "Sorry keyword does not match up with any services offered by Funmobile.com.

I called verizon...they told me to reply with "End". It seemed to work as I immediately received a reply text message that stated "Thx 4 using our service. Your value club 2 subscription is cancelled".

Hopefully it'll end the stupidity. Best of luck.

FunMobile.com Unsolicited text messaging!

This company sends unsolicited text messages that result in $5.99 charge against your cell service. They have sent 7 messages in 14 days. Verizon Wireless seems unwilling to block this scam operator. Do the state Attorneys General have any jurisdiction here? Plz advise smb!

So I get this text message telling me I have a .15 credit on "Funmobile". What the heck is Fun Mobile I ask myself. So - I call back the [protected] and ask who they are, what they do and how they got my phone number. I get a kid who's indian accent is so heavy, I am only understanding about every 9th word. I ask to speak to someone else who I might understand better . "No. We do not transfer calls because you can not understand". What? WHAT? Anyway - I end up telling him that whatever he's selling, sold or ripped me off for, I want my number and name to be immediately removed from any and all lists they have and I want them to credit to my verizon bill the 9.99 they've been charging me for two months. "No. We do not issue credits mam. We will send you a check as a one time courtesy. What is your address"...Long story short; VERIZON WIRELESS was very VERY helpful. They can't do anything about the money "Funmobile" has collected (I finally got the guy I couldn't understand to send my refund check to the FBI as a donation...I think.) Solution: Text 51721 and in the body of the message type "Stop" or "Cancel" or "Unsubscribe" or "Quit". The Verizon lady told me specifically I could not type "Stop you lieing cheating bast*&@!'s " but she did say it had to be one of 5 words (see above). What a scam...and the fact that they can't transfer you to someone you can understand (and believe me, I have NOTHING against Indians, native american or otherwise. If you're going to make a career out of a call center though, speaking clear english is an important skill set!), will not make a payment to Verizon to pay back what they have CLEARLY STOLEN, nor will they stop their service to you, without threat of the Attorney General's intervention, is absolutley ludicrist. So - to stop thier stealing, text 51721, type "STOP" in the body of the text and send it to them. You will receive confirmation that your "subscription" is cancelled within 60 seconds. Once that's done, dial *228 and hit "send". Once answered, you want Option #2, you will hear music playing for a short while and then it will tell you that your update was successful. That will stop any future theft. You can also ask your provider to permanently block your phone from any future "add ons". Now. Go forth and write your Attorney General about these scam artists (is this really "artful" though?) and let them be punished! The corporate address of "FunMobile" is 197 Portland Street, 7th floor, Boston, MA 02114.

So what fighting power do we have if the cell phone is that of a minor. I have received 2 months worth of charges for this company and they refuse a refund stating that the minor texted back a pin number. I asked them how can they go into a contract with a minor they indicated they have no idea what age the person is and that it doesn't matter because they got a pin tex back. Any suggestions?

^^ That's all very well, Barry, but what about when people DO read, and are still led to believe that they are getting a free offer. This particular company "crosses a line" with it's marketing; if it was based in the UK, the relevant authorities would have forced them to change the way they word these things.

FREE RINGTONE OFFER***

To get your FREE ringtone please send "GIFT" to 88838

***Free ringtone offer: No sign up necessary to receive a FREE ringtone. Simply send an sms text message with "GIFT" to 88838. Normal operator messaging & data charges will apply. This offer applies solely to one polytone chosen by Funmobile and is wholly separate from any and all other offers of content on this page.

so they say it's free, and wholly separate from anything else on the page. Pretty much the only other thing on the page is the details of what they usually charge for registration etc.

Misleading...I think so.

I work for a cell phone carrier- In fact I take only escalated calls, so this is an all too common instance for me. With whom I work for, we don't credit back.

It's a guarantee that 90% of those complaining actually opted in without taking the time to read. The other 10% are those who are victims of recycled numbers (Numbers in which the previous owner had opted in for Fun Mobile which still remains on that number even though it's been recycled and is now yours...) For those who fall in that category, you will receive refund.

For those who claim it says free...Yes, it says free - The ring tones are free, only if you purchase the plan.Tricky wording but nothing we don't see everyday in the retail world.

Like all premium text message providers, they don't charge you for no reason...In order for them to charge you they must have those two opt ins. I know this because I constantly coach CSRs by taking them specifically to these websites and showing how each works (They work all the same...) Never are we charged though, because I don't opt in the second time.

To prevent it from happening again, many carriers offer premium text message blocks if you specifically ask. Like somebody already mentioned, place a block on your SMS entirely - Thats the best way.

Conclusion: Read. If you've only taken the time to read, you wouldn't be in this circumstance now. It's no secret when it comes in and asks you to confirm the order of $5.99 or etc. And tells you exactly how to quit. psssh.

FunMobile.com Little geek keeps sending messages!

Am getting 1-2 text messages a day. Sent message and told them to stay off of my phone which has been totally ignored by them. Have contacted my cellular company and complained. Guess I need to get a hold of the Do Not Call People and let them get fined since I was on the Do Not Call List prior to them being able to call cell phones. Guess they think I will buy if they hound me enough. I would really like to talk to the little geek that keeps sending them out face to face.

they charged my eleven year old who did not sign up for these services - IQ test for an kid, really? And now they want 2 -3 weeks to refund the money. They don't even care - say she signed up for them on a website and then a text was sent to her phone - yet no text message shows up on her bill from anyone other than her friends on that date or any other! They are just scammers who want to make money illegally. The only way they will issue refunds is via paypal. They are using MY money and I don't appreciate it.

If you accidentilly sign up for one of these 'services'..well you'll proably be billed for the initial charge, as in signing up you agreed to a 'end user agreement'...but it's easy enough to unsubscribe to it..find the initial message on your mobile..and hit 'reply'..then send a text back 'stop'...and they'll cancel the arrangement.

hi guys,
i had the same problem as you. what i did?
step 1: send an e-mail to care@funmobileca.com with the title: clx stop, unsuscribe me from horoscope list. they will send you a message saying that your ticket has been received, along with a link and password, and saying that your priority is low.
Log in, and see the ticket, and change the priority to Urgent or whatever other you want.
Once you do that, they will send you another message saying that your phone number has been removed from the list.

Use please and thanks...be polite and it will work.

my 2 cents, gmendozasuarez@yahoo.com

I have been battling with Funmobile (Ringtone Times) putting unauthorized charges on our companion cell phone for over 5 months. We have contacted Centennial Wireless, did the text message STOP 71769 but still have charges occur within anothe r month. How can a company allow a minor to access a chargeable sevice without a parent's consent? I can tell you that if you want something done about it complaints must be handled through the Boston BBB. Phone number [protected], www.boston.bbb.org, or info@boston.bbb.org to get satisfaction. if nothing else many more complaints and maybe our legislature may wise up and prevent this scam from occurring. I ecspecially like the fact that anyone can enter a cell number on these websites and charge someone elses phone with this charge. WOW

They kept sending unsolicited emails and billing me long after I asked them to stop. I was duped by their free ringtone scam. Here is where they are located in the US:
