Freightliner Trucks / Daimler Trucks North America Unauthorized repair, unscrupulous business practices

I am hereby filing a formal complaint on Lou Bachrodt Freightliner, located at 2840 Center Port Circle, #102, Pompano Beach, FL 33064. One of our trucks was towed there on Friday, May 31, 2019 at approximately 1pm was told there were 20 trucks ahead of us, however, because we were OTR driver, he would make us priority. Received a call from JR, Service Advisor, on Saturday, June 1, he stated they wiggled a wire and truck started up. I did not hear back from him until Monday. On Monday, June 3, 2019, received a call from JR, stating they had repaired 3-4 wires they saw to be bad, took the truck on a test drive, per JR, they did that 3-4 times, everything seemed to be fine, parked the truck, turned it off.
On Tuesday, June 4, 2019, JR called, stated truck would not start. JR stated I needed to go ahead and replace the wiring harness to solve the problem, however, on Monday, he said initial repairs would solve the problem. JR admitted repairing wires on Monday did not solve the problem. I asked JR how certain he was that replacing wiring harness would solve the problem, he stated he was highly confident that it would. I asked him several times, he responded, highly confident and very certain each time. He stated it would take a day or two to replace and per JR it would be ready to go on Thursday. Thursday come, truck does not start, per JR, truck now needs an ECM. He stated they plugged theirs up and the truck starts just fine, however, the day before, they were able to start the truck, drive the truck, park the truck, restart the truck, drive the truck a few more times, parked the truck again, restarted, went on another test drive, no problems at all. Driver is watching as they are test driving. Now per JR, this morning, which is Thursday, he states the ECM now needs to be replaced. This is all after billing us $2, 994.02. We asked JR several times and asked to speak with Service Manager, Jeff Tolbert in reference to the bill, he never answered nor returned any calls. Driver went to his office several times only to be told, he has left or he is out to lunch. When attempting to call Service Manager, was told he was on a conference call, he had his door locked, or he had a line of people waiting to see him for the same issue(s). We were billed for 16+ labor hours, a $533 part, and mics shop fees, that did not solve the problem. JR again acknowledged the truck was not repaired as previously promised. Once bill was paid, JR stated we would be ready to go and assured us he would have the truck started and ready so that driver could be on his way. Driver arrives to pick-up truck, truck does not start, after spending a couple of hours trying to get it to start, it does not. JR now claims it will take another $2000.00 to get truck going. After processing payment of $1890.86, truck starts and driver leaves on Friday, June 7 at 6pm.
This falls under the category of unauthorized repairs and we are not liable for the charges in which we were billed due to the fact that the truck was not operable, we were misinformed by JR, Service advisor, as he did not state we would be billed excessive labor hours, the initial diagnostics were clearly incorrect, and due to incorrect information given by JR, this also caused a huge delay in delivering on our obligation to our broker.

We requesting full reimbursement of all monies spent due to this incident which includes, but not limited to hotel accommodations for driver, Uber trips to and from Freightliner, and repairs that fall under "unauthorized repairs."

Freightliner Trucks / Daimler Trucks North America Transmission cooler

We have 2016 freightliner firetruck purchased from toyne firetrucks in iowa. it has maybe 1500 miles on it. not sure on exact mileage because dash was replaced. truck has 235 miles on this dash. the truck acted up at a fire and threw a code saying transmission error. I contacted frieghtliner in columbia missouri could not get them to come to fire station and check truck, so I got inland trucks out of columbia to check truck. they said there was a problem in the transmission. I contacted frieghtliner again and they told me to get a allison transmission dealer. so I contacted clarke power in wentzville missouri and had it towed there. they was very nice to work with. they got truck right in and found out transmissions cooler had felled and filled transmissions full of coolant. clarke power contacted frieghtliner and told them the problem. got them estimate to fix. frieghtliner contacted them and said they was'nt going to fix it because 2 yr warranty was up. did offer to give $5000 towards the repair. total bill was almost 15, 000 plus a wrecker bill and a bill from inland to tell us what was wrong. are fire board agreed that we had to fix it and get truck back in service to protect are citizens on howard county fire district. are board are not really happy about things are worried are other two 2016 freightliners may do the same thing. we cant believe freightliner will not totally stand behind parts that are less then 2000 miles old. I wish the president of freightliner would call me and explain way it is like that. I can totally understand if the truck had 100, 000 miles on it, but it has less then 2000 miles. i'm going put my contact information on here if someone would like to help us. scotty shiflett (board president of howard county fire district). we are located in fayette missouri. my cell number is [protected]. email is [protected]@cm-as.com we did fix the truck and got it back in service, but it hurt are budget pretty good. hope to hear from someone. thank you.

Freightliner Trucks / Daimler Trucks North America Services that I was charged for that were not done.

Took my freightliner 2011 cascadia into freightliner in council bluffs iowa. I was charged over $2700 in labor cost to repairs that were never made! i'm owner operator with fcc out fremont nebraska. it appears that they were the ones who contacted freightliner in council bluffs to charge me for repairs that were not needed to my truck. I am going to take legal action against freightliner in council bluffs. and against the freightliner corporation if it's involved with these illegal activity's!

Freightliner Trucks / Daimler Trucks North America freightliner austell ga. replacing engine dd15

I was towed in to shop in austell ga peach state freightliner may 10th 2018 and truck has been there two weeks with me being out of work. I went to parts desk several times checking on truck but was told I had to wait on an teck to look at engine because it won't start after doing work to truck that didn't start it and especially putting an crank seal in when now they have to take engine out. I contacted corporate and manager put teck. right on truck and told me the next day engine had to be replaced if one was in warehouse which he thinks it should be because freightliner keep dd15 engines in stock. it will be replaced soon as warranty give approval we'll I called warranty and they said freightliner said parts had to be replaced in engine like rebuilding the engine well that takes to long and will kill my business and will cost more in labor why they could just drop whole engine in truck shorter time and i'll be back working to save my company. freightliner said they was keeping the block well if engine is destroyed due to wear and tear why spend time on block when you can just drop new engine in truck cut labor costs and keep block for their business to keep to work, shave or whatever instead of holding me out of business longer I need to be back on road by next week bills, insurance and truck payments are due as well as contract fees whom my truck is contracted to which is landstar. lawyer starting paperwork today on warranty dept.

Freightliner Trucks / Daimler Trucks North America Freightliner services

Freightliner wont honor the warranty on truck parts they have fixed. they will claim they fixed your truck and then when it breaks again within the warranty time, they charge you for a diagnostic of the problem. they are thieves and I would not recommend this service to any truck drivers. I paid $1300 initial fee to fix my ac on my freightliner truck. after two weeks it broke and I took it back only to pay $600 for a diagnostic that showed to be the same initial problem that was never fixed. the ac broke for a third time and this company wants to charge me another outrageous fee to diagnose the problem they could not fix. please do not use this service

Freightliner Trucks / Daimler Trucks North America The company wanted to get sum larger than we agreed

We took the truck into freightliner trucks. we needed to change the transmission and have ordered a warranty. but in the end we checked the papers and found out that the company wanted to get from us larger sum than they previously told us. the company refused to comment about the situation and told to pay or we wouldn’t get the truck back. do you have the same problems with this company?

Freightliner Trucks / Daimler Trucks North America Customer service

I have been to this dealership twice now and both times they have forgot to do the service work on the truck. they are rude and lazy. the lady in the service department thinks she knows everything about these trucks but she knows nothing. she schedules appointments but doesn't get the work done or even started at the promised discharge time. she also needs to wear a shirt that fits instead of flaunting her chest all over the place. I will never take another truck in this dealership again. twice is enough.

I have had nothing but trouble with the service department at the freightliner dealerships of norcross georgia. First time I dealt with them I had my truck towed in for it was eating coolant. It took 4 days to get the truck back. All that they did to repair it was top off the coolant reset the codes and regeneration it. I made it 200 miles down the road and broke down again for lack of coolant. Got it back to them, and come to find out all along the problem was a leak in the egregious cooler. They replaced the egregious cooler, fuel pump, and filter. I got to drive it for another two weeks before having to return it again. I told them it had cooked my batteries, and cpc. They replaced the altenator, cpc, thermostat sensors and thermostat(which by the way is what caused the coolant leak to begin with). What they didn't replace however was the batteries, so needless to say I broke down again. Got it back to them and it took four days to replace the batteries and cost me 909 bucks. Get in the truck and I can see that they had taken the dash panel apart and stripped out one of the four screws holding it together. It said nothing on the paper work about needing or a reason for doing that. I was told to talk to the shop Forman about it so I went looking for him. Another man helped me find him and told him that I needed to speak with him. He looked at me and said okay, and then immediately walked away. Noone was willing to help me with the issue. My electronic logging device is attached to that panel and is stressing it by bouncing it away from the dash while driving. I have lost weeks of work because of their poor performances. This is my first freightliner, and if this is how you take care of your customers. It will certainly be my last, and I will proudly discourage anyone else considering driving one of your trucks outside of a company fleet.

Freightliner Trucks / Daimler Trucks North America rack and pinion

I have two freightliner cascadia and the rack and pinions are crap. there has been a recall on them but even when replaced they are failing and its a fight to get freightliner to do anything. recently I have had a second one fail and the response I am getting is that its within tolerances. wonderful, ecept my driver refuse to drive it because it pulls to the ditch.. maybe thats what needs to happen. an accident showing that freightliner is negligent. whatever the outcome thetire bills and repair bills are "racking" up. its only a matter of time before someone gets killed... I contacted freightliner and the response I got was that they would be the mediator between myself and the dealership. big deal.. I can't getthe dealership to even call me back.. will be yanking the truck and filing suit aganist the dealership for excessive charges that have resolved nothing!

Freightliner Trucks / Daimler Trucks North America mishandling of commercial truck repair

We bought a cascadia in 2008 and have dealt with a few freightliner dealers with all the various warranty work it has required. but never in our lives have we dealt with such lack of professionalism as we encountered at the orlando freightliner dealership over what should have been a simple job.

We had the repair quoted by another facility far from home who confirmed they had the parts in stock, given what a routine repair it was. I emailed the quote to mr. roy underwood of the orlando freightliner, their body shop manager well in advance so he could have a heads up on parts.

The next week, we met with mr. underwood when we delivered the truck to his repair facility. he said he could start on it immediately. we told him the insurance adjuster couldn't meet us as planned but would be by later that day. he said not to worry — he knew the insurance folks, worked with them all the time.

I handed him the letter from the insurance company stating they were paying for the repair. we signed a work order and agreed to pay for anything the insurance claim might not cover so there was no need for any delay. we asked if there was anything else that needed to be signed and was told no.

Mr. underwood said the job would only take two days. mr. underwood assured us there would be no problem. I left my cell phone number and asked to be called if there is any delay or problem.

Two days later, we called to find out if we could pick up the truck. mr. underwood said the insurance adjuster had not been by until just then (I later learn from the insurance company that it was much earlier in the day). apparently a truck sitting idle losing money is of little concern to mr. underwood since it isn't his money.

And now we were suddenly hearing about parts that needed to come out of canada and the truck might not be done until well over a week!

Like a child with a dog that ate their homework, mr. underwood kept saying it wasn't his fault the adjuster didn't show up. given it affected his deadline to us, one would think he'd call us? nope. we called him.

His whiny excuse about the parts delay was that the quote I had previously emailed him didn't include part numbers. what bull! if he was so inept as to not know what parts were involved, he could have picked up a phone and called the other dealership that produced the quote. these are common parts. the bs line about parts coming out of canada was insulting to anyone's intelligence. then he was claiming he couldn't order parts until two days later when the adjuster finally showed. again, what bull! we said we would pay for anything the insurance would not cover and signed a work order to that effect, in addition to the letter from the insurance company stating they would cover the repair. there was no reason to delay part ordering.

I called and complained to lee, the stand-in "service manager", who would routinely say he needed to check into it and call me back. then he wouldn't call back and I would have to chase him down. after pressing lee hard, I was told the repair wouldn't be done until a full five days for that "two day job".

The day before we were slated to pick up the truck, mr. underwood called with another fire drill born out of his ineptitude — apparently we should have signed a direction of pay form, allowing them to be paid by the insurance company. now he needed to fax it since we live 85 miles away. I was to drop everything and sign it and fax it back. I did so.

On the day we were to pick up the truck, we heard it would be ready at 5pm but we would need to pay the bill since the insurance check would not come in time. both mr. underwood and lee, the "service manager" demanded payment from us!

I must say, in all our time dealing with insurance covered repairs, I have never encountered this double dip arrangement. this was over the top — waaay over. I called the insurance company who covered the repair and they arranged to have the truck released.

We were lied to and hassled — all over a routine $2100 cosmetic repair. needless to say, we won't be using orlando freightliner again.

Freightliner Trucks / Daimler Trucks North America replace good parts

On 29 may 2010 I brought my freightliner century to nampa idaho freightliner to check what is wrong with my engine and why “check engine light” periodically on.
the technician tell me egr valve bad and this is the cause of it. he replaced egr valve. and soon the engine start I told them nothing is changed. the engine makes same “bumming” noise and has exceeding vibration. the technician tells me they only fixed my cel and first time hears about these things.
the charge for parts and labor was $1920.46.
4 dais later on 3 june 2010 I brought my truck to “freightliner of des moines” to check why “check engine light” is still on after replacing egr valve for $1920.46. the technician run codes and was the same reading as I brought to nampa. the technician write on invoice: “the wiring for egr valve is bad right at the clamp by the egr valve, if you wiggle around it will code up and egr wont work properly”.
I ask mr. todd harmer, service manager, if he could call nampa gays to reimburse this $1920.46 to fix real problem with my truck to replace egr valve pigtail, turbo actuator and air intake charger it is about $914.16 for parts and 7.8 hours labor.
mr. todd harmer calls them up and told me they will only reimburse me pigtail for $199.50. and they did.
it is obvious the technicians replace the good part and I shouldn’t pay for it.

Freightliner Trucks / Daimler Trucks North America ripping me off

Yesterday I took my 2000 freightliner century to orlando freightliner to have them check and advise why my drivers window fell down and the regulator came up through the top of my door panel. I also asked them to check and advise why my drivers door is hard to open from the inside while they have that door panel off. I noticed the tech had no memory of how to take this door panel off correctly and soon had the rods for the latches and handles fly out onto the floor. I walked away in disgust. they worked up an estimate of $550.00 to replace the window motor/regulator assembly and to replace the metal brace at the bottom of the window that was rusted out and is to be attached to the regulator. after they put my door back together, now my power door lock actuator makes an awful noise and you cant get the door to open from the inside. they originally told me there was nothing wrong with the handle inside the truck. now I cant unlock or lock my drivers door with my key, and still struggle to open the door from the inside. when after having 5 techs look at my door they worked up an estimate of $540.00 to replace my inside door handle, outside door handle, all the rods, and the power door lock actuator. I told them that if anything I would pay for the inside door handle only. I was not paying all that labor agian to tear into my door. they said being my truck is so old, that these parts wear out and it was a coincidence that it happened to all fail while they were working on that door. so I agreed to pay $99.00 for 1hr diagnostic charges and I told them to put my old window regulator in and I would get a complete door out of salvage yard. please stay away from orlando freightliner if you dont want to pay for unnecessary repairs and damages!
