Freelancer.com Milestone payments reversal

I complete projects for two clients on freelancer.com and received the payment. The money was in my freelancer.com account, the reviews had been published, I had even requested to withdraw that money into my bank account and all was good. A few hours later, they suddenly suspended my account without any warning and I could no longer access it by any means. I contacted the support. A full day passed and they said that your account is under a review so you can continue working but cannot withdraw any money.
When I finally got access back to my account, my money was gone. Two milestone payments worth 520 USD each had been reversed from my account. So I lost 1040 USD.
I suspect that it might be a chargeback that the website is imposing on me, as they have done in the past with other people as well.

Just got a response from the support. Apparantly my client had commited some violation of their "terms and conditions" and their accounts had been closed and all of their transactions had been reversed due to that in order to protect the freelancers. How does taking someone's hard earned money count as protecting them?
If the employer's had any funny business going on than that is the website's responsibility. They cannot take money out of our accounts for that.
Can anyone please guide me how I can get my money back legally?

Freelancer.com Unfounded closing my account

On 9 September I got from Freelancer notification that I have to verify my identity. I did it, and on 10 September evening I got an email "Further information required to verify your identity. Thank you for your submission and responding to our enquiry but we need you to provide further information to help us verify your identity. Please respond within 45 days. If we don't hear from you within this time, we'll have to completely limit your account". I didn't have time to fill out the form that day and thought that I could do it on the next day. On September 11, 2020 early morning I found out that my account is closed. The point is that I didn't receive any notifications about it. I filled out the form "Reopening closed account" a few times but I didn't receive any emails/ feedbacks to my mailbox. At this moment I want to know what is the reason to close my account and how I can withdraw my funds in amount of ~5, 5 USD!

Freelancer.com Stole my $900 plus from mothers account deposited into my account

I have contacted you over and over about this since June with nothing being done. Today I find out account deactivated.
I setup an account back in June and placed add for e-commerce store coding help. Alex Simonov bid $900 I think close to it and a deposit was made from Security Bank in Martin TN account name Donna P Baker. They withdrew over $1000 I will have to go back and check the bank records for exact amount but they know exactly how much. We called the bank to let them know that the withdraw was safe and the bank sent them the money.
A week later Alex asked me to pay him a portion of the funds because he had completed some of the work. I agreed and tried to pay him $450 and it was refused I was told I had to verify the account and that I could allow them to make a small withdraw from our bank account to verify the account.
That small amount they stated was needed to verify account was not small at all they tried to withdraw another $1000.00 which the bank called us and we refused and said it was fraud (which it was as we never agreed to send in a total of $2000 for one job that was bid at $1000 or close to it).
I have requested that they release the money and pay alex s over and over or return our money to the bank.

You have stolen this money and caused harm to my family. Fix this or you will hear from my attorney and I will see that this settled no matter how much money it costs.

Freelancer today tells me that since the funds they withdrew from Donna Bakers Bank Account is not in my name they refuse to return the money.
Donna Baker does not have a freelancer account so in essence they today stated they were keeping over $1000.

They refuse to to send the money back to her account. I believe since my daughter is an attorney it's time for a True Class Action Suite against these people.

Donna baker sent them a copy of drivers lic with a photo of her holding a sheet of paper which stated that money was to go into Account of her sons or WIRE THE MONEY BACK TO HER ACCOUNT. THEY REFUSE.
I HAVE HAD IT. IF YOU DO NOT DEPOSIT THE FUNDS BACK INTO Security Bank Mart TN. Within 24 hours you will not like the advertisement you will get from me and I will no longer be willing to settle this outside of court.

Freelancer.com Account closed, stole my money

Hello !

I just wanted to tell everybody my brief story so that other people now about these scammers. They suspended my account having 300$ in account balance and milestone payments. They didn't explain the reason and how to resolve it. Their reply is automatic and not helpful at all! I attached the screenshots for it.

They are probably interested in stealing your money because they are not interested to resolve the problem and not reply after few days.

I hope I can get the money back so I can stay away from them in the future...

Freelancer.com Account closed without any warning/reason

Hello, I have worked day and night on freelancer.com and when I complete all projects and I earned 650$. I sleep at night with a good hope that I will withdraw my hardworking earnings tommaro and have a comitments with my developer to pay him too. I wake up and when I access my account they said it is closed. I tried contacting with freelancer for a reason and they asked me to read terms and conditions. My mistake was unknown. Its really disappointing when you earned money on hard times and your account closed without getiing any warning however, if we are submitting our govt id before start working on freelancer then it means we are verified persons to work.
I am really disappointed that I can't able to do anything after my hard workings and never get paid. I am really half dead and I promise I will kill my self soon because I cant able to pay to my developer and cant run my home. All are looking at me once I get banned. I wait for 2 days if issue was not resolved then soon you will have my news and all screenshots of my earnings and work with freelancer.
Good bye all

Freelancer.com Reopen my account or give my money back if reopening is not possible.

Dear Freelancer Support Team,

On 2020/07/28, I received the email to request ID Verification.
So I submitted information for ID verification and received the reply email, "Verification of your identity has been escalated to another department. Thank you for responding to our enquiry to help verify your identity. We have forwarded your case to another department for review and may require an additional 48 hours to provide a response." (please see the attached file, "Verification escalated to another department_emai_screenshot.png").
But I tried login on 2020/07/29, it failed and shows "This account has been closed. Please contact support for further details."(please see the attached file, "Login failed and let me contact support_screenshot.png").
I emailed to support@cx.freelancer.com to let me know why my account has been closed and what should I do to reopen my account.
I've already received this same reply email 3 times.
You said "...We'll be in touch soon!" in all the reply emails.
How long is it "soon" for your Freelancer Support Team?
Let me believe you're a honest freelancing site. Reopen my account or give my money back if reopening is not possible.

Regards,
YunCong Liang

Freelancer.com Suspended account, no resolution, no return money

They suspended my account and blocked login, didn't explain reason and resolution way, stole my $140 in account.
For my asking, they replied same answer, such as "View and manage this ticket online", "Rest assured that we have not forgotten you. We'll be in touch soon! ", etc. It's all fraudulence! I can't view ticket because they blocked login.

Freelancer.com Payment delayed, conflicted information, unethical behaviour and abuse of freelancers

After being scammed in the platform and understanding the Freelancer.com will not do anything to protect freelancers from predatory scammers passing for clients, I decided to leave the platform.

On several occasions, I tried to withdraw my funds and leave the platform but the result would always be that my funds would only be transferred within at least 20 days, making me stay in the platform for that period of time so I can keep track of my money.

I expressed my dissatisfaction with the support team on many occasions and I was always told that I could withdraw my funds immediately, have them available in my account immediately, and close my account. They would encourage me to stay and then send me a like to do this and the result would be exactly the same: at least 20 days wait for my funds to be available which makes me stay in the platform.

I feel like I'm being coerced to stay in this platform when I already expressed my will of leaving and having my money. This is UNACCEPTABLE.

Please help me make them pay my money so I can close my account once for all

Joana

Freelancer.com Freelancer Support team

I submitted a ticket to the support team on freelancer.com because my client created and awarded me a fixed price project that I have not been compensated for. Once I accepted the project I was charged a 10% project fee that made my freelancer account negative. It's been over 90 days since I've completed the work and submitted requests for milestone payments i still haven't been paid for to date. I submitted a dispute for the project fee and payments twice, and both times the support team told me that there was nothing they could do until they spoke with my employer. They tried contacting the employer and they won't respond. So my situation still hasn't been resolved and My account is still negative money.

Freelancer.com Refund of money

I hired a freelance contractor to do some work for me. They did the work to my satisfaction I had no problems. I paid the agreed amount to Freelancer and I released it to contractor. A few days after that I tried to contact the contractor to see if they were paid and Freelancer said the contractor is no longer with Freelancer. I had the email of the contractor and they told me that Freelancer is holding the money I paid. Weeks went by and they did not pay the contractor I hired. I ask Freelancer to return my money and I will pay the contractor since they would not.
After many emails to Freelancer they said the would return my money. In turn I paid the contractor.
The problem is Freelancer only returned about 2/3 of the money. They said they would return the full amount. I wrote Freelancer numerous emails asking them to explain why they did not return the full amount. I sent them screen shots of my bank statement showing what they returned. They never gave me an explanation of any kind. They kept sending emails saying they have not hear from me and would close the file. I would immediately email Freelancer and say the case is not closed and I am responding.
I never received the balance of the money they agreed to refund and never gave me any explanation as to why!

Freelancer.com They Took My Money

I made a job for an employer. I got the money on Freelancer.com and then I withdraw money. I exchanged USD to my national money unit, then I waited 15 days for transaction to be completed. Last day of the transaction, they canceled and said "we detected a fraud with employer" so we canceled all the jobs related to him. I said at live support "Are they kidding me ?", What is my fault in this situation and how can I be sure that you take money from freelancer and you are not giving me the money?

Freelancer.com Typing job posted on freelancer

I am complete newbie with a terrible first experience with freelancer. I registered on the platform to get some work as a freelancer.

I saw a typing job and I too bid for that particular job, few hours later I received a message within freelancer app from (shwetashetty7381) asking me to send my name and country to email id ([protected]@gmail.com). I did as asked unaware of the tricks of the business and I am sure by now that they have scammed me but what's more shocking is they are using legit platforms like freelancer's.

Please check into this and I have paid them 1600 rupees as security deposit and typed 25 pages to no avail.

Please block such scammers from your esteemed platform.

Freelancer.com Total scam

Freelancer.com is a total scam. I built up my portfolio with over 200 reviews, for 3 years. I had a customer try to receive a project without paying. The customer contacted freelancer support. Instantly after the complaint, my account was closed, with no questions asked. This project was for $1, 000 usd.

Freelancer.com always takes sides of their customer not the freelancer! Freelancer.com did not ask me any questions, they just closed my account right away, with only speaking to and receiving information from their customer.

I tried to contact freelancer.com support every day for 2 months. Every time they kept telling me "we are looking into this." I still never got a response from them. Also, if you are trying to get "support," all the reps do is give you a copy and paste response from their handbook that does not solve the freelancer's situation at all.

Freelancer.com needs to be sued or stopped, they are a total scam and they do not care about the freelancer that works for them at all! I would not use this website.

Look at all of these complaints about Freelancer stealing peoples money and closing their account! My account was closed, from someone trying to get a project for free, they didn't want to pay for it. The customer contacted Freelancer and they immediately closed my account and took $1, 000 from me.

FREELANCER WILL NOT TELL YOU WHAT YOU DID WRONG, THEY WILL JUST KEEP SAYING "WE ARE LOOKING INTO THIS." FREELANCER, LOOK AT THESE REVIEWS, YOU STEAL PEOPLES MONEY AND DON'T TELL THEM WHY THEIR ACCOUNT IS CLOSED! DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS, THERE ARE COMPLAINTS ABOUT YOUR COMPANY ALL OVER THE INTERNET!

Freelancer.com Employers, be alert to bait and switch type activity

As a long-term buyer of freelancer.com providers/workers (since 2006), it saddens me to caution other employers/buyers of, as best I can describe, to be alert to something that seems like bait-and-switch, which I believe to be a growing problem on Freelancer starting in 2020 (never experienced it before this time). The end result is at least potential lose of money the employer has in milestone, but I think the real pain point for most buyers will be a lose of trust in the platform.

Some of the behaviors to watch for include being asked to modify your budget at first contact, release milestone at first contact ahead of any work started (or even understood), and private contact via personal email or social media accounts. All of this happens within minutes (and against freelancer policy) of the project being accepted. I think nearly all experienced buyers would recognize what is unfolding within minutes of engagement, which leaves the real issue that even if you do and cancel, the milestone is at risk of lose - I can vouch for the lose of milestone dollars when trying to exit one of these incidents. (For those not familiar, freelancer tech support is mostly a scripted response system - unless you pay the support engagement fee).

I have hired dozens of great freelancers from this platform so I hate to see this growing behavior impact both providers as well as my peers that hire from the site.

Hope this helps others. Kind regards.
