Freelancer.com Getting verified to receive my earnings

I have around $300 dollars in my account that I wish to withdraw. First, there is no way I can get it because the withdrawal methods do not cater to my country and second I asked them I want to close my account beacause after 4 years on the platform I only got like 3 jobs. But I can't get my earnings, I need minimum of 500 dollars, but that would mean I'd have to continue working on this platform which I so eagerly want to quit.

I now have to get verified. Submitted legal documents and they still did not approve, saying I used false documents. I don't understand. This is the link of government website concerning the national ID's. https://gov.sr/oude-id-kaarten-geldig-tot-en-met-31-december-2023/

Desired outcome: Get me verified so I can get my hard earned money and close my account.

Freelancer.com Worst ever experience. Not returning my hard-earned money

Worst ever experience. They are theif and completely froud. They stole my $300 and closed my account for no reason. Please dont waste your precious time using this fake app. When you try to contact support then sent auto generated replies. Not even a single person there to reply. They stole my money and wasted my time. I requested many times that please transfer my funds in my account to my bank account that is my hard earned money. I earned that spending day and night. But no response from them about retuerning the money everytime they say your voilated our terms but never tells which one and never talk about sending my money to my bank account. THAT'S MY MONEY. YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO KEEP IT.

Desired outcome: I want them to reopen my account. Let me widthdraw my hard earned money that was in my freelancer account. Then they can again suspend my account. I dont want to work with thek anymore.

Freelancer.com Membership

They closed my account, which I has for 19 years (since 2003) for no reason. Right after sending an email to their privacy officer regarding a concern I have, they closed my account without addressing my complaint.

On September 1st, 2022, I noticed that I can’t log in and get a message saying my account was closed. Any user has the right to send an email to [protected]@freelancer.com and ask for a copy of his/her entire data. That is true with most companies such as Google, but in this case, not only did I not get a reply, but my account was closed.

Desired outcome: Reopen my account

Freelancer.com Account

Freelancer.com closed my account because of a complaint I filed regarding misbehaviour of their CEO and a request to their privacy officer.

They didn't even send me an email. I just found out 2 accounts of our corporate were closed.

The closure occurred right after I followed the terms and conditions of the platform and exercised my right to write to [protected]@freelancer.com asking for a copy of my data. I also addressed a concern about which and how personal data is held. Right after the 2 accounts were closed.

Desired outcome: Reopen the accounts.

Freelancer.com Scamming client money and won't pay the freelancer

I am a client and they charged me hundreds of euros before the project started. But even after 2 weeks and when the freelancer completed the project, they still will not release the payment to freelancer. They kept asking me to resubmit my personal documents with my face holding the documents like a criminal - even though I am a client and they already charged me a lot of money.

After I complaint a lot and request money back so I can pay my freelancer through other gateways because they are not doing a single thing. They said they cannot refund the money because I am not verified!

This company is a scam, freelancer.com is an Australian scammer company. Please report it to the government website so no more people will be scammed again.

Freelancer.com Account closed without any reason

In 2014, I decided to join freelancer. I knew it would not be easy, but I didn’t expect my journey to end Like this.

My account has been closed without any reason because I was not able to use my account for the last 8–9 months because of moving to a new city and office. I was badly busy there at that time, so there is no reason I violated any rules. I know a few people who haven't operated their accounts for years but are still able to use their accounts. So why me ?

In 8–9 months, I only did 2 projects. My account was big, like I got many customers. Great feedback there. This is totally false closed account without any reason.

Every time i got same message

"Thank you for contacting Freelancer.com Support.

We regret to inform you that your account has been closed for violating the Freelancer website in accordance with the Freelancer User Agreement found here at https://www.freelancer.com/about/terms.

You accepted our terms and conditions when you signed up as a user on the Freelancer website. It has come to our attention that you have participated in activities that may harm the business operation or reputation of Freelancer. We have closed your account for this reason.

If you have any other questions apart from what has already been discussed, feel free to contact us. "

They are not helping me and not telling me the reason. This is Shame!

Account name: Thelegend07

Please reopen my account. I badly needed work.

Freelancer.com Graphic design work

JE MCAULIFFE, LLC. ADVENTURE GOLD

5 Webster Road

Somerset, NJ 08873

Better Business Bureau

August 12, 2022

Dear Better Business Bureau,

I am writing with regard to an issue which I consider was a ruse to extract multiple payments from a few of my accounts.

On Friday 29th of July, 2022 I contacted the company Freelancer.com in order to procure a Graphic Design for my project. I was given my choice of multiple artists on their website. These artists were making offers from around the world. I did choose to work with an individual from Canada.

We did negotiate a price $1,260.00 plus fees. And I attempted to put a down half, deposit on the work through my:

1) American Express. This was rejected in Freelancer.com’s billing tool. I found out later they tried to charge me 179,266 Japanese YEN through my American Express Card. This charge was rejected by my American Express account.

I had to cancel my American Express card and have them send me a new different account Card.

2) I then tried to pay them through my Paypal account. Their billing tool accepted that, but they then charged me the full amount $1,260.00 plus fees for a total of $1,327.95 US dollars, not just the upfront amount.

3) Then SARTTY rejected the billing and charged another $630.00 plus fees:

In conclusion, I have had to change my American Express card, My Bank Account Credit Card, I have had to make substantial changes to my Pay Pal account and Frelancer.com is still coming after me for more money.

I had cancelled the project the Saturday morning Saturday 30th 2022 after they attempted to take five times the amount of the down payment. All their efforts to swindle my money was done after business hours of Friday July 29th 2022.

When I gathered all this information, I immediately emailed and informed the artist and Freelancer.com what they had done and they were not part of the project.

They were not fired because there was never any fulfilled contract agreement tied to any legitimate offer which received any remuneration.

I will not give them a second chance to bill me. As they would attempt to steal more money from my accounts.

Please notify any teams these and or any similar attempts at these types of transactions.

Regards,

JE McAuliffe

[protected]@gmail.com

Desired outcome: I have had to change my cards and payment methodology. I do not want Freelancer.com attempting to grab any of my money as they have attempted to.

Freelancer.com Account closed without notice & all current & previous milestone payments to my freelancers are stolen

Freelancer.com asked me to verify my identity, I sent them my driving license, my bank statement, my photo holding a specific phrase, and all other info they requested

- after that, they closed my account without notice

- stole the money I had in my account

- stole the milestone payments that should be paied to my freelancers held in escrow

- stole my freelancers previous milestone payments which I released weeks ago

They mention I broke their terms of service but don't mention what did I break.

Their terms of service clearly states that I can communicate with my freelancers outside of freelancer.com if I have met them outside freelancer.com

this is a total rip off, stealing the current & previously released milestone payments.

- the whole point of escrow service is about secure payments

they basically stole around 500$ of me & my freelancers

the worst website I have dealt with ever

Just use upwork.com & save yourself from this scam.

Desired outcome: 1. my freelancers previous milestone payments which I released shouldn't be stolen & should be sent properly to the freelancers.2. the current unreleased milestone payments should be released to the freelancers & shouldn't be stolen

Freelancer.com Account closed, without any warning without any reason

Hello,

I wanted to tell you my story from last year. They closed my freelancer account without any reason and without any notification. I had a few projects going on there at that time, more than $700 .. This was very painful and gave me a lot of anxiety and panic attacks. I am leaving on rent and I am the only person who is earning. It took me a whole year to recover from anxiety. I have filled in tickets many times, but they always give me the same reply every time.

"Thank you for contacting Freelancer.com Support.

They said I had done some activities against their rules, which is absolutely not correct. Instead of giving me the details, they are referring to the whole user agreement, from which I am unable to make out the reason.

Even yesterday, I got the same response from them. So I just wanted to re-open my account so I could connect with my customers.

Please help me.

Account User Name: "razer5"

My account was 8 years old and I did so much hard work on it.

Desired outcome: I just wanted to re-open my account so I could connect with my customers.

Freelancer.com The funds from my freelancing account are transferred to another account without my permission.

The freelancer company suspended my freelancer account on 16 July without sending me a suspension mail or any other notice.

As soon as I sent an email to their support, I did not hear from them until 22 July after I created a dummy account on Freelancer and contacted their support. Their support told me I would receive my membership refund and my account balance within working 7 days.

If you can send me a swift number and tracking number, then I will need to provide my bank so that they can inquire about it. My emails regarding this have been sent to them many times, but they have not yet sent me a swift number or transaction number.

As of 2 August, their support told me my account balance is only 19INR, and the remaining funds have been reversed to their sources. I told them to send me details about the transition history but they didn't... When my account is close, they have around 1,55,00INR balance and they transfer it without my consent...

I hope that you will be able to help me with that issue

Please contact on [protected]@gmail.com

Freelancer.com Account got suspended

Hi, my account got suspended suddenly shortly after receiving an email saying verification canceled. Can someone get back to me why I am suspended at least, I'm not given any reason for it. I got a ticket when I email you but when I try to open it shows me the account suspended page. I still have an open project and funded a few milestones, and now I can't even message my freelancer who is working on my project.

Desired outcome: Tell my why I'm suspended and please resolve it

How did you manage to get this resolved? I'm having a similar problem, they simply reject all the identity documents I've offered and insist I upload documents I simply don't have and can't get in the UK anyway.

Freelancer.com Identity verification

On 20th July 2022 I discovered I had to verify my identity when I attempted to withdraw my earnings. However, most of the examples of acceptable ID they list are not available in the UK. A passport is the only one that definitely is. I do not have a passport as I have no intention of travelling outside the UK or RoI so it would just be a waste of 75.50GBP. Every other organization that has needed to check my ID has readily accepted my shotgun licence as proof as it meets all reasonable criteria - Government issued (via the agency of the local police); shows my name, address and date of birth; bears my photograph. Freelancer.com however refuses to accept it. The photograph can be compared with the one on my Freelancer.com profile. As they list "Driver's License" as acceptable ID I thought my UK "Driving Licence" would be acceptable but that was also rejected. A bank statement was accepted as proof of my address, the same address as shown on my driving and shotgun licences. It also shows the account no. that I want to transfer my earnings to, the same account I have previously transferred my earnings to before Freelancer introduced this requirement that one verify one's ID.

I attempted to contact Freelancer via their chat facility on 21st July to explain the problem, but I was just referred to the list of acceptable documents and told to resubmit my "driver's license". I resubmiited my "Driving Licence" but it was rejected again. When I asked to be transferred to a senior member of staff, their operator just told me he had given me all the information I need and promptly ended the chat session. My subsequent emails to attempt to resolve the matter have just been ignored, including one asking for details of their complaints procedure.

As it stands, it looks like I shall have to waste 75.50GBP (and wait a few weeks or longer) to obtain a document I have no other use for. I am not even sure they will accept that as UK passports have recently changed as a result of the UK leaving the EU. Even my email asking whether a new style passport would be acceptable appears to have been ignored.

Desired outcome: Freelancer.com need to be more flexible as to what they will accept. Multiple, Government issued documents all bearing the same identify information should be acceptable.

I've just received another email from them telling me again to upload my driver's license card and not a copy of the license scan on paper. I've already told them at least twice that there is no card part. What I uploaded is a scan of my entire driving licence. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Freelancer.com Account terminated

Hi,

I created an account last afternoon, posted a small project and got around 20 bids.

One user sent a chat saying "I can help you" and I replied "I am reviewing other bids and will consider your bid on my analysis".

Today I look at new bids all ranging from u$30 to a ridiculous u$750. I liked one of the bids, went to another computer in the house to show wife.

One hour later I came to my work computer to accept bid but could not login.

I contact customer support:

" We regret to inform you that we have closed your "bb?99" account for violating the site's Terms and Conditions.

As such, we're afraid we're unable to reopen it. We're also not privy to discuss the details of the violation due to security reasons.

The decision to close your account is final and irreversible. Any account that you will open in the future will be closed as well."

Why? Don't they want to make money and get new customers?

Desired outcome: Just tell me what "Terms and Conditions" was violated.I don't care if they kick out people for explainable reason. It is just bad customer service.

Freelancer.com Freelancer's seller (web-developer) violated copyright causing legal issues for customer and freelancer is failing to address

We purchased a service from a seller/web-developer on Freelancer who goes by the name STALLIONi NET SOLUTIONS @ graphicaa. The seller/web-developer added an image on the new website that he took and use unlawfully without a permission from the copyright owner. The seller/web-developer told us that he obtained all images legally and that he has the right to use them since that was a part of the service and agreement.

Months after the website was launched, we received a legal notice of violation and demand for action and compensation from owner's legal team.

We contacted the seller/web-developer on Freelancer who goes by the name STALLIONi NET SOLUTIONS @ graphicaa. He responded by directing us to ignore the legal notice and stating that he obtained the image from a royalty free website. When we pressed him to provide the URL of the image where he obtained it, he lied and said it was removed. The legal team of the owner conducted an investigation and confirmed that their copyrighted image was never on a royalty free website. The web-developer then refused to pay for the penalty being assessed for his using the copyrighted image illegally.

We field a complaint with Freelancer, and from the start freelancer dismissed it and closed our complaint ticket twice. Freelancer staff exhibited bias towards the seller/web-developer (STALLIONi NET SOLUTIONS @ graphicaa) and conducted themselves as advocate for the seller/web-developer. Freelancer staff refused to provide any reasoning for their actions but refused to follow freelancer’s own stated policies and rules for copyright infringement and dishonesty. We appealed their decision and each time Freelancer’s staff replied with more concerning messages clearly protecting the seller/web-developer and his unlawful actions.

We provided freelancer’s staff with their own policies and rules which include:

"Violations that lead to account restriction"

"Copyright infringement. You are expected to provide non-plagiarized work to project posters and contest holders."

Source: https://www.freelancer.com/support/freelancer/general/violations-that-lead-to-account-restriction?keyword=copyright%20violation

"Violations that lead to account closure"

"● Performing or participating on fraudulent activities" The seller engaged in fraudulent activities by using material that is copyrighted and misrepresenting to us that he had the right to us it.

"● Deceiving other users of Freelancer.com" The seller engaged in deceptive activities by using material that is copyrighted and misrepresenting to us that he had the right to us it.

"● Falsifying identification documents. This involves submission of fake or altered verification documents." When we received the notice of enforcement of the copyright violation, the seller provided false documentation claiming that he found the copyrighted material on a copyright free website. But when we checked and the copyright owner checked we discovered that seller was providing false information.

"● Manipulating the Dispute Resolution System" apparently the seller provided you with false information in their response that you seem to have accepted it. Even though you have not shared it with us, but if it is the same false information he provided us with, then he is gaming the dispute resolution process.

However, Freelancer’s staff ignored all our requests and pleas and sent a message stating that they were invoking “clause 27” without any explanation or clarification and indicated that they are closing the complaint and allowing the seller/web-developer to go on without being held accountable for his egregious conduct and violations.

We are requesting from Freelancer to follow its own rules and policies and conduct itself ethically and lawfully by preventing known copyright violators doing so in the future. Freelancer should terminate the seller/web-developer and punish him with a penalty and resolve the legal mess the seller/web-developer got us in without our knowledge and in violation of our rights and Freelancer’s own rules and policies. Failure on Freelancer’s part to act appropriately will give the impression that it condones copyright violators who sell services on its platform and violate intellectual property rights and cheat its innocent buyers without recourse in violation of its own stated policies and rules.

We are filing formal complaints with the government regulatory agencies in Australia and USA.

Update by Victim of Freelancer.com Seller
Jul 04, 2022 2:27 am EDT

There was no reply on my ticket and Freelancer staff ignored the issue and sided with the seller who violated the copyrighted image owned by others and got us into legal problems.

Freelancer failed to address this issue and demonstrated that it does not care if any service provider violates its terms and policies, violates copyrighted materials, engages in deceptive practices.

All buyers who need a service provider selling services on Freelancer will have to be extra careful since sellers and service providers on Freelancer are free to engage in deceptive practices and are not held accountable by freelancer in violation of Freelancer’s own policies and rules.

We will be filing a formal complaint against Freelancer with the government of Australia.

Freelancer.com Can't get payment for my job

I've been working with the same dude on this platform for almost a year. It was convenient - he had same kind of job every time, so he didn't need to look for different workers and knew I can do the job. And Freelancer got his comissions of course, I thought they have my back in case any problems.

Now when I finished monthly-worth job they close our accounts and how am I suppose to get the payment? Especially now when we both became war refugees and money is too important to survive far away from home.

As I understood they got triggered because we saw each other in coworking hub.

This dude says they already got his money so he can't pay me otherwise. Why you took money off the project?

How convenient is that, Freelancer.com? Robbing two people at the same time. Must've feel good?

Desired outcome: Get paid - either via platform or refund to my customer who will be able to pay me in some other way

I got the response on my compliance from Freelancer representative. It tells that "my account is not closed is just limited" so everything ok apparently, phew! But wait, I never told that my problem is closing of my account. My problem is that Freelancer is not paying me for my job! I worked for about a month to get paid. In the end what I got - project closed, no money, threats to suspend my profile.

Basically, according to Freelancer Verification team my choice is - to shut up about the payment and keep working via Freelancer as if nothing had happened (would be convenient, right?) OR to get my account suspended. Great.

In the latest response on verification center on Freelancer they start with "Given your relationship with the user..." - what relationship? We do not have any other then the work, we are not pals, I can't casually call him and tell "hey, pal, pay me, would ya?" We became war refugees, this dude just was in the same city in Poland (to clarify, Warsaw is a big business centre so many Ukrainians fled here in pursue of protection, new jobs and opportunities to provide for themselves while they can't come back home) as I was at the same time so he came for few minutes to see if I was ok and if I can work, if I have conditions to work. That was awkward interaction that continued for few minutes and we parted. I am so sorry that in that moment I didn't thought about Freelancer right away and just ran out of the co-working building.

Also, Freelancer did not provide me with the explanation of what rule I broke exactly.

Dear Freelancer.com, I want to get paid. I did work on a project on your website and I want to finish it there. You got my client money. You do not want any transactions between us on the website? Ok. I do not care who pays me. Just pay me yourself from the money you got from him. Otherwise you are robbers.

Freelancer.com Verify your identity

I recently wanted to withdraw my earned payment through PayPal but every time I withdraw it says "you must verify my PayPal account". I don't know what verification of my PayPal what they want because I already verified it through connecting my gcash Mastercard to PayPal. But freelancer.com insist that I must to verify it. I can't used bank account because I didn't have one that's why I used my brother in laws bank account to withdraw my earned payment through express withdrawal. It work because it needs me to wait after 15 days for pending request. Until the day has come and then freelancer.com didn't allowed my request because the reason is it's not my bank account. Until they want me to verify again. I send and upload multiple I.D just to verify my account and again and again freelancer.com always rejected it. Until a few sending I.D's, they already suspended my account. Please anyone who can resolve my problem thank you in advance.

Desired outcome: I would like to ask if you can unsuspend my account

I'm having the same problem at the moment. Most of the documents they deem acceptable don't exist here and it will cost me a lot of money to obtain the only one that does. I've uploaded other Govennement issued forms of ID but they were immedialty rejected. My attempt to contact them have been ignored.
