I am a huge fan of Sobeys and a regular customer but some of their stores have a less than perfect customer service system. Many stores have the hateful practice of selling lottery tickets at the regular check out counter that results in the interruption of the flow of customers. It also had other obnoxious results. At the Highland Street store in Kitchener, for example, if you complain about the delay one is likely, as I was, to be treated by management as a pest. The manager of that store, instead of listening to my complaint, stood over me and simply told me to wait. The store on Lincoln Road in Waterloo, on the other hand, has a separate counter at which to buy tickets. I don't know how much authority Head Office has over the practices of individual stores, but if possible they should simply demand that all their stores separate these two functions.

Not understanding how Food Basics has the audacity to increase the price of their Irresistible Orange Juice 2.5L from $4.44 to $5.99 in the last few weeks. This is absolutely outrageous that they are allowed to increase this by 35%. This is no where the price of inflation and this type of pricing behaviour should be prevented.

I have only selected this product to highlight the inappropriate or unjustified price increase, but this has been implemented on numerous products.

Not too sure why a company needs to make a $218.8 million profit for the last quarter on selling food and produce that are essential to mankind.

We as individuals work hard to support our families, and I did not see an increase in my salary of 35%. How does and organization like Food Basics get away with this type of consumer price gauging.

According to the World Bank the average orange price has only increased 3% in the last year. That is a significant difference from 35%...

Im a regular customer of your store. Today around 8:20pm.I visited in food basics I took a cart from outside that was broken on top lock side.when I was moving kart, on that time my jacket stuck in broken part of kart & is damaged.now my jacket tear from arms, just because of your broken kart.now who is responsible for this happen.that was-my new jacket & it’s very extensive. When it’s happen, I told one of staff member but she denie me & not gave me proper response.Can you explain me who is responsible for this. Plz give me positive response in that concern.

We visited one of your stores monday November 20th at around 9.10am we went through the vegetable and fruit isle when we turned to go through the lunch meat and hot dog isle I stepped on an object and went flying up in the air and came down on my left hip.

One of your employees watched it happen and came over to see if I was okay I got up off the floor and looked for my phone that flew out of my hand turns out my phone now has a crack in the corner of it..I'm still sore and stiff I don't understand why these shelves are left where this could happen this is total neglect and have been told by a few people to contact a lawyer over this i want to make sure this never happens again to anyone... please contact me at

bought 3 pack last week from food basics barrie & while I understand they recommend was before use we have VERYT SELDOM found this necessary with the andy boy lettuce you usually carry. This stuff (being polite) however is FULL OF DIRT... by time cleaned up & left to dry, 1/2 of it had no solid crunch texture anymore

PLEASE - pass on to your purchasing team - GARBAGE DOES leave a bad taste in your mouth

The gates do not open automatically, they must be pushed and held or they jump/swing back to hit you. My grandson is 4 and he was smacked in the face by the gate.. The stratford store is not to blame, it is the management who decided to put in inferior gates, I hardly want to go into the store any more as a regular shopper. Thank you for looking into this issue.

Sept & Oct /2023 - 2x in the last month I have noticed rotting produce or all going bad. It never use to be like this! Bought cranberries for thanksgiving dinner. When I opened the package they were all rotten. Had to throw out lean ground beef I bought. When I thawed it out, after being in the freezer just 2 weeks, it was a pale grey shade and smelled bad. So the owner is buying spoiled items and charging full price and making money of many disadvantaged people who live in the area. When you ask for the store manager there is a Muslim woman who dismisses your concerns rudely. I will not shot there anymore.

I went to food bacis on 10/19/2023 to go get some things for diner.

I bought hot chilli x2 =1.98 and got one that’s was gluten free witch was 99 cents I also bough chicken thighs boneless witch cam uo to 9.11 then I got 2 Beatrice mike chocolate witch came up to 3.76 then went to the bakery and got the little mini cupcakes selection brand witch came up to 4.49 all together I spent 20.33 but after eating some little mini cupcakes I looked at the packaging and say that the little mini cupcakes where expired.

The expiration date says Oct 13 2023

After eating them I felt really sick and still have not been feeling good.

I've been submitting receipt Feedbacks to Food Basics and all have been cancelled by a techno glitch at the Submit page of the website.

I've tried to reach customer service to determine what the problem is and FB is from my experience unreachable by phone or online. The Metro.ca FB website has no Sign-Up page so its impossible to connect. This has been going on for weeks and not reaching FB. I want to speak to their customer service.

On july 29 at food basic bracebridgethere were several items at 40$ off the cashier who served me was extremely rude, no discounts were taken off, she refused to listen to me when I pointed that out, I just retired and was given a gift card, from my employer for $100.00 when she endorsed it as per copy of my bill the amount of $4,54 was redeemed remaining balance of $95.46 as per bill of sale I have kept, the remaing I paid with debit card, ithis was first time I used gift card, she endorsed the card for 4.54 and said it was finished, I asked to pay the 4.54 get the card back to take to my hr rep to imform the card wes endorsed, she refused and kept card, so I went to customer service, the rep was very nice and apologetic, she took off the 40% on the marked down items and refunded my money, after I explained about gift card, discrepancy she went back to cashier no 131 as per bill. And retrieved card checked the card and it had $95.46 left on it and gave me back the card, which the cashier would not, saying I t was endorced, my guess the cashier was going to pocket it, with the remaining balance, when I asked the customer service how this could happen, she replied she could not explain it

Apoligized and I left, this was terribly upseting to me, almost being scamed

By this cashier, im glad I went bask to customer service, and got the card back, and not just left store thinking my employer gave me a card which was

Already, endorsed, I would like to hear from food basics as to what remedy was taken to keep this from not happing to another customer. Yours truly

Thursday July 6, 2023 me and my friend went to do some groceries at the food basic in Orleans (ont)

Online the store hours stated that they closed at 10h00 but for what reason it was 9h00 in the store. We nigh have enter the store close to their closing time.

We heard the lady once saying the store is closed. One of the older employer was so rude with us in front of all the other staff. She told us you have to use the self checkout because we are closed. The shelf check out can close on you anytime because we are close.

She even said to us: you know some people want to go home you know. She said she mentionner it 3 times over the intercome. We heard it once not tree times.

We even apologize and I said had a great evening, she walked right in front of us ignoring us. The young lady at the self checkout was really nice.

I am just glad our kids where not with us to witness this situation.

I guess it is not for everybody costumer service but to treated that way was really not necessary. I really hope that nobody has to be in the situation we had yesterday.

We manage to pay for our 2 order with the shelf checkout, load all of our groceries and was starting my truck at 9h08.

We left the store, I was so frustrated. Nobody should be treated this way. I guess costumer service is not for everybody.

Because of the costumer that this employer gets a job and a pay check every week. What a great example she showed all those young kids yesterday. None of them where saying anything.

6th July 2023 7PM to 9PM EST.

We are two members purchased groceries and paid at counter (no self check-out) and at the store security guard specially checked us only at 377 burnhamtorpe rd E to show all groceries and without any suspicious behavior from us. This is really unexpected behavior at food basics and need to file a compensation for false allegation on us and couldn't find that we stool something.

He said that some one particularly informed by someone to check us and its really false allegation that he was not doing genuinely as his duty as well. If its a food basic security concern then it has to be improved by security measures rather than insulting some one at store by by checking the shopping language despite all the customers.

I really need a penalty to be charged and want to complain food basics head office and if no action taken then would definitely be raising this to Ontario ministry in one day. its really against individuals rights.

I purchased a package of selection chicken wieners this week - Best before date Sept 04/2023 and on Thursday July 07/2023 I bit into one hotdog and immediately found a large piece of metal - I have taken a picture of it and attached same below - metal piece is beside the wiener package and I have also saved the metal piece. I bit into this metal fairly hard and could have possible damage to my teeth I am making a dental appointment for this month - outcome TBD
