laminated floors
Good day
Hope this email finds you well I was in your store on the 21/07/2018 to do an exchange on the floor laminate I bought on the 28/07/2018 the lady that assisted me was Beulah Hlatswayo very nice and polite lady who knew what she was talking about and gave a service with a smile.
I spent R4475.15 on my first purchase after hearing your add on 947 radio station I then went home and packed the goods in my garage; have less or no time to install the flooring as I also work for one of the biggest retail stores in South Africa work seven days twice a month and have two boys and a wife.
I do not have a luxury time to do my DIY projects and only manage to do so with whatever time that becomes available to me so this weekend was one of those times so I started on the first room were I install 21 squares of flooring without any issues and when I went to the second room were I had 16 squares to do with a different range of floors I realized after opening two of the seven boxes that the floors were not so easy to install as the previous one so I stop and took all boxes to your store Northriding.
On my arrival I went straight to Beulah who was busy with a customer at the time and referred me to another gentleman.
I then explained my issue and told him I do not with to get a refund but to be given the same type of flooring I was using in the other room as I find it easy to install and it those not separate everything time I step on it.
He told me that he will have to call his manager as he did not have authority to do so; he then called him and after he was done he ask me to take him to my car so that he could [censored] the condition of the boxes after seeing the boxes he told me that he could not refund me on the two boxes that were open; I told him I did not mind as I was also looking forward to pay the difference when exchanging the goods as I know I bought them while they were on promotion.
He then ask me to take five of the seven boxes to the back at the collection area and when I ask him who am I going to ask for there he gave me three names which one of them was Mandla.
I went and Met Mandla at the back who took the five boxes and explained that he could not do a refund as they was no manager but I explained to him that I already arrange with the gentleman the front so I went back to the front of the store.
The gentleman then told me that his manager said he must phone him to assist him with the exchange; which he did so but while speaking to him he then change to Afrikaans which I found very rude as I'm a person of colour.
Having said that I waited while they had their conversation were I peaked up the managers name as Nico and I also could pick up that the gentleman was telling Nico to assist him with the exchange on the system as he had no clue.
After a while he then told me that they can no longer do an exchange and this is after I send from Pilar to post so I ask to speak to the manager who rudely refused to assist and told me the is nothing he could do when I told him I waited for so long and had no intend of leaving without being assisted he told me I can wait as long ad I want as no one will assist me as his guys will be committing a fraud if they went ahead with the exchange.
So I took the two open boxes that were left in my car and left them on your info counter as I felt no need to take them with me as they where of no use to me.
I have been in retail for more than 15 years and was shocked to see the level of service that some retail store still offer to their customers.
Correct if I'm wrong my understanding is that the should be a manager on side to assist with challenging issues and assist with overrides on the system and also ensure that customers queries are dealt with promptly and efficiently.
I for one was made to feel like I was stealing from your business and that my money that I have spend and the extra payment I was wearing to pay was worthy nothing.
So I'm so sorry that I wasted everyone time and energy not mentioning my only chance to have completed my DIY project.
I have left all your stock in your premises and do not wish to be refunded or contact as I do not wish to be the person that makes people to commit fraud by going an extra mile to assist a customer and forming an on going relationship.
I will however vent my frustration elsewhere to ensure that no ever gets treated like no thief and an unworthy person.
Kind regards
Hector

Wooden Floors
My parents (pensioners) paid about R30k to have their entire home redone with wooden flooring. After moving all their furniture out the house and not having a home to live in, they were told to wait a couple more weeks for the stock to arrive. So they lived in shambles for another couple weeks. Finally the floors came and they started with it, only for it to start lifting literally a day later. My parents told them to stop what they are doing and first sort out the floors that have lifted. They also discovered that the product that was used, was a cheaper product then what they actually paid for! Floors Direct then came back to my parents telling them that after extensive testing they discovered that the floors were wet. I think they used the term “over washing” Now how, I ask you, when my parents have not had a home to live in because they were about a quarter of the way done, could they have washed the floors? Bearing in mind that it took them about 2 months to come to this conclusion as well? Now, because of the testing done, they therefore decided that they will not refund my parents or complete the installation and if my parents would like this to be done, then they would need to pay for new floors, which would be ANOTHER R30k! This is absolutely DISGUSTING! To extort so much money from pensioners and leave my parents in absolute distraught and out of pocket like that! You all should be bloody ashamed of yourselves man!
WORST SERVICES EVER
I went into the Strubenvalley shop the first time at the end of May, George came to my house to quote on the 2 June, I went in afterwards to pick floors, which off course I had to do 3 times, because they never had stock of anything. It took him a week to get the quote ready, apparently because it was his off weekend or something. When he came to look at the house he saw that there was tiles as skirting, he said they will remove it before doing the tiles. When Hannes came the 1st and only time I ever saw him, he said it should have been done before they painted and suggested they make a plan, well a plan was made, doesn’t look very professional, but what the heck, I only pay almost R40 000 for this, why should it look good.
The installed at my place on the 11/12 June. On the Tuesday when I moved in, the mover broke one of the skirting’s on the steps, because it was installed correctly. It took them about 3 weeks before they came to fix it.
And then with all this I was stupid enough to let them quote on my mother’s house. That again took forever. In the meantime all the leftover flooring is still lying in my house. They only came to pick that up when they started on my mother’s house, which was the 23 June.
Where they was suppose to be in the morning they rocked up there at 1.
They finished at about 6pm, they didn’t do the entrance hall, when I asked why they said they didn’t have enough stock.
I can’t remember how long it took them to came and finish the entrance hall, but same thing showed up hours after they where suppose to. And did a terrible job on the skirting’s, they just filled it up with black silicon to fill the gaps. I just left it was so glad to have them finish.
Then my mother moved in, and I had door replaced in my one room, on both the damage one of the covers to goes from the wood to the carpet, I saw Shane Boulle at Decorex, I mentioned this to him, that if possible they can came and fix, on my account, was our own fault. As I am waiting for them to came out, I realise there is spots that is making bubbles. So I mentioned this to George, he eventually came out at the end of Aug.
They went to my mother’s house, to fix the covers, they used rocks out of the garden to keep it in place, so they scratched it, after that they came to me, with nothing, they walked in, had no idea what they where there for. So I told them to leave. George then phoned me, to say he will came and do it himself. I told him am going away so he must just organise with my mother, somebody came to fix the cover, but the amount of glue that is visible now, they could as well just have left the job, the scratch before that was less visible. George also said he has this wonderful scratch remover stuff that he will use in front of my office, well off course that never happened.
Then u phoned me and about 3 sets of people came to look at my mother’s house, eventually yesterday they came to fix it, the same team that did the initial job, no supervision, when my father asked the one guy how long the cement is going to take to dry he told my father he doesn’t know, he has never done this before. Well they asked them to leave the premises, when you and Hannes and George showed up there.
They came back on the Thursday, to finish the job, which is still not properly.
So they move on to my house, came and have a look, off course after they came I had to phone agian to find out when they are coming to fix it now.
Today they workers show up, off course with no supervision, they start on the passage, they remove the board and put new ones in, but one part that has scrathes on, is still there after they are done. Initially it was said that the upstairs passage gets done as well, seeing that it has bubbles and if I walked bare feet my feet gets piched with the boards, now I get asked must they do it, they being so nice to actually fix the passage as well.
I am now close to asking them to take it all out and just go away, because there is no garentee that after they made a mess of my house the whole day that is will actually be a good job.
