I signed up to Files Express attracted by their special offer of $28.66 (US dollars) but when I received my confirmation email this had turned into £26.88 (GBP). I had expected this to be about £16.50 at today's exchange rates.

This is a rip-off!

Not only that, they had added several other items taking the charge to over £57. I have bought many things on the internet and am used to keeping an eye out for these sorts of unwanted additional charges and these were not spotted - which means they must have been displayed in such a way that they couldn't easily be seen.

I was able to find a telephone number to call to complain and they cancelled the charge, except that they kept back £7.50 which they claimed was for processing charges (or something). This is also a rip-off!

I have contacted the UK Consumer Credit agency and the matter has been reported to Trading Standards.

    Yes, Files-NetExpress.com (aka Files Express) is a scam! They state they have a "Private Download Directory, " from where you can download the program/file you're looking for. Of course, they say they have the exact file you're looking for. Well, both statements are false! They don't!

    After you join for $26.88 you have to download and install a P2P (Peer to Peer program) and that's all it is; it's not like Rapidshare (files stored online) and it's not even a good P2P program. It's, very slow, and of course the file that you're looking for, the one on the sign up page they say they have, they don't have. It's nothing but a scam... stay away from it. They even connect you to a different login page from the Files-NetExpress.com site. The Files-NetExpress.com site is only used to make it look like they have an online storage site like RapidShare.. which they don't have.

    Luckily, my bank issues an online virtual credit card good for only one transaction (which evaporates after use), for the amount I make it out to be. So, I created a virtual credit card for the amount on $27 so the scam site couldn't keep charging me.


    How do I help protect myself from websites and credit card purchases from charging me over and over again? See next paragraph.

    I use Bank of America. You have to go into a branch and sign up for "Shop Safe" a free virtual credit card service that you use online. Also, don't forget to get the "SafePass" free service also, which makes it so that to access your online banking site requires an additional code besides your password to log onto your account. Safepass will either send you a credit card looking device that uses a mathematical algorithm to create a different number each time you log on to your online account or they can text you the pass code to you personal cell phone. Works great!

    Again, I should have check the comments about File-Express beforehand.

    I signed up to the interesting offer of 26.88USD. Minutes after I received an email confirming a charge of 102.6USD on my credit card!

    Nowhere, absolutely nowhere I was told about the additional charges. I called the support number provided in the email immediately and curiously, the first option on the robot is to get a refund! Not surprisingly. I called by Credit Card company to cancel my card and send me a new one. The transaction is not billed as of yet, only the funds are 'freezed' for the moment. I will have to wait the transaction to be close before contesting the charges. I keep screenshots of the offer which says 26.88USD up the ultimate payment confirmation.

    I bought a lot of things and services on the Internet. I will be much more caution next time. The more people sharing their experience about this scam, the better.

    the site struck me as fishy... too good to be true ... that little voice that I should listen to said check them out before sending money... I'm glad I did and thank you for your scam watch !!!

    Thanks for your comments. Shame I didn't read this before I signed up. Right now it says that I have not paid even though I have gone through the whole sign up process. I have sent a support ticket but I don't fancy my chances. I think the way they get the additional charges is by the 0.11 cent fast download and privacy protection box's. I have unticked them so I should only get charged the normal amount, I hope. I'm normally pretty good with shopping on the web I'm an IT engineer but I fell for this one and now feel very stupid. The only thing is they may have bitten off more then they can chew with me. I have family who work for a little known international policing agency who concentrate on white collar crime. Oh dear, for there sake I hope there reading this and I better get my refund :)

    What a surprise...I've been dealing with this company for about a few months already and what I read here dazzled me a lot...I remember having some problems with the software right after purchasing it, but the issue was fixed as soon as I contacted their support center and since than I don't have problems, the software works properly and I truly believe that I'm not the only one who don't complain about it. Is there anyone with positive reviews???

    I was going to sign up for the three day deal, I think it was $0.26 a day. When the payment page came up the amount being charged to my card was going to be 411.95 HRK. That turns out to be Croatian currency!...I was going to be dinged about $82 US. I didn't complete the final transaction but now they have my email and possibly credit card info.

    Plus, all the links the sites providing are DEAD or directing to free downloads of other sites.
    I had reported to my bank. Banks said I will need to call them again once the money is authorised and debited (the transaction is not authorised yet). They will do the investigation and possibly have a refund.

    Entirely agree.
    I was offered $1.99 for a three day trial (too good to be true). This turned out to be $26.85 but $84.14 is in the process of being charged to my credit card. Am in the process of disputing this with my bank and putting a stop on the authorisation.

    And when you get to the pointy end, there is no help or support. And the bitter part is that the ebooks I thought I had purchased just arent listed by the 360share software. The nearest it decided to offer to me was material that is inapproppriate and distasteful - together with with two surprise nasties. My security software stopped these.

    i recently tried to search for a file and this FRAUD site has shown that the file as available. i was tempted to make the payment using my card. later i found this is a big cheater.
    FRAUD No. 1. they charged more than what they disaplyed on the payment page.
    2. the file what i searched for was a junk. they showed as 5000 people are currently downloading. even if you search with 'aaaabbbbb xxx yy', you will see the result as aaaabbbbb_xxx_yy.zip is available and 4500 people are downloading.

    files-express IS A BIG FRAUD, CHEATERS, STAY AWAY.

    I wish I have researched them before I made payment. What supposed to cost me $0.69 for 3 days turned out to be $80.62.
    Was looking for display driver for my laptop ... and they assured that they have it .. but I just have to pay the 3 day trial. Now the transaction is pending - bank said it has to go through before they can start dispute.

    Filez-express almost hooked me today. It had a copy of the only horror movie Humphrey Bogart made ready to be downloaded -- so it said; then it presented the payment deal of a 75%-off lifetime membership: $1.95!

    Tempting, but thanks to your warnings, I resisted.

    Very interesting points of view, but not too convincing...I've been dowloading files from Files Express for couple of months already and know for sure they are not scammers though sometimes it seems like they are. First of all they have a support center for customers who have some problems and the statement that it's not working isn't correct - I contacted them not once and always got response even if it took some time. It was them who explained me a few helpful things, which happened to me for the period of my membership:
    1. Sometimes while downloading files the speed isn't high enough and firstly it bothered me a lot, but they told me that if the file is rarely requested, it is located only on a few servers or even one, so the speed gets lower...anyway if the file is desirable I can wait...
    2. The reason why some files couldn't be found is too simple to be true - they could be removed or renamed. In those particular cases they advise immediately contact support representatives to clarify the situation.
    3. And by the way, guys, be careful enough chosing the appropriate membership package if you don't want to be overcharged...I used to have negative experience concerning this issue, so now whenever I purchase something on the internet I doublecheck everything I do there.
    So my advice to those who are not aware of what to do is to contact people who can help. Good luck.

    I entered the subsription/membership area and it offered 3 day trial, .66c and .11c for various functions.

    Noticed tucked at side of subscription page a box offering PrivacyRescue.com access for $39.95 which I deactivated.

    Next thing I know & without warning I'm getting charged 26.22 GBP.

    That's the other devious point about this scam is they don't send an email detailing the charges immediately after starting the subscription.
    Suppose it keeps people in the dark long enough to get the funds from their banks.

    Left a some complaints with their support page at http://myfiles-member-area.com/support.php but not sure they'll get back to me.

    Its 8am & I'm waiting for my banks customer services to wake up then I'll discuss this with them.

    ALSO victim of this fraudulent billing scam --via fraudulent chgs posted on phone bill > But they are billing for the supposed service of voice mail and of faxing from email - on our 2nd line- which happens to be a dedicated FAX line only-so it is ludicrous that we would ever even consider purchase of such a service- have fax/scanner/copier/printer & obviously voice mail would be a stupid thing to provide on a fax only line!
    this type of nefarious business is made possible by a federal law - certainly when it was enacted it was likely for the purpose of allowing fair trade on some services normally provided by the phone company ..but somehow the verbiage wasn't crafted with enough safeguards, and checks & balances, & left the door open & provides shelter for those making a ton of money on an oversight in the way the applicable federal law was written.

    Coincidently around the same time discovered fraudulent charges deducted from checking account via debit card.

    MY Research has shown among the several possibilities that might have contributed to either or both of these is possibility the charges were triggered by entry into a contest-which has fine print somewhere (on another page) advising entry into the contest also is agreement for x service billed at x rate /month with automatic renewal
    One would think this kind of deceptive activity MUST violate at least ONE consumer protection law--wouldn't you?
    BEWARE ALSO when u see the credits posted (if u r one of the luckier ones) you must stay diligent in your review of your account statements-- according to several postings I found because VERY often they will just sit back & wait, and 8-11 months later try again to get their charges pushed thru..

    THIS also happened to us.

    file complaints w/ the FCC or FTC whichever is appropriate to your issue, make your senators & congressmen, district attorney, local news station, etc. aware of these vultures
    Because they are really the front line with means to rewrite or add addendum to the law closing the loophole these types slithered thru.

    Info on the B of A service from DAVE 1000 was like xmas all over ! – I’ve been B of A customer since 1983- & while they have been most kind, courteous, proactive, and attentive in assisting us with resolution in this issue- I was not aware of this "virtual credit card" option - I only hope it is available in Calif. THANKS DAVE FOR THAT TIP !!!

    I made similar experience. I signed up for 3 day trial at 0.66c per day. They charged my credit card with CHF 86.-- (about $ 82.--). They told me by mail that I bought premium membership (but I didn't) but didn't tell the price. Actually my current status is account type: not payed ! On my credit card account it is not possible to see, who has taken these CHF 86.--. Files-Express or download-gate or filesfreedom.com is not mentioned. The currency they used was HRK an the payment was done to Kroatia! The transaction was done to RBSYS1887626562 SB E, ZAGREB. Obviously others had the same.

    I would like to post a comment about my experience.

    I did also sign up for a 3 day trial at $1.99, but was charged with somthing like $80.63.
    All of this happend on February the 1st and I was of course not very pleased about it.
    First I want to say that I have been dealing with filesfreedom.com but I found that they work in association with files-express.com and maybe they are being administrated by the same person/company, I do not know.
    However, I wrote an e-mail back at: [email protected]
    I did not take long before I got an answer back. In the beginning I got a lot of standard messages telling me that I probably had made a mistake myself and I should have been more careful when I signed up.
    Of course, I wrote them back telling them that I had not signed up for a service of $80.63 and I wanted my money back.
    My communication with filesfreedom has been very confusing and they have never really admitted to have made a mistake but 5 days ago I received an e-mail telling my that I would get a full refund.
    I have just received the money today.

    I am not sure what to think of files-express/filesfreedom but I would advise people not to buy anything from their webpage. On the other hand I also like to give them credit for refunding my money after all.

    While purchasing any stuff on the internet one has to be very careful about what s/he is doing, I myself was caught not once getting overcharged and the reason was simple - inattentiveness, cannot agree upon fraudalent activity of Files Express site, 'cause have been dealing with them for quite a long time. They have several services to sign up but all of them are redirected to their memebers area after checkout. There one can find step-by-step instructions how to download files, software and much more.

    I signed up for 2 dollar membership with Files Express trying to find some book and didn't have any problems finding it. I downloaded what I was looking for and decided to subscribe for long-term plan which I did but this time I was having some troubles with findind necessary files though with a help of support representative I cleared up the situation

    I just got hit with an $80.53 charge for the "$1.95 Trial offer" from Download-gate.com. They stated " This charge is one-time and non-recurring". I called MasterCard and they cancelled the current card and will issue another. What a mess! The charge came from "RBSYS1887626562 SB EZAGREBHRV" in Zagreb, Croatia. These scammers really need to be stopped! Some possibly helpful info follows:

    Called my bank to refund the charge and investigate. $1.95 but they charged me $81.67 as well. Should have been 1 time download and I was very careful about making sure it was not a subscription plan or trial offer. Immediately they sharked me for the difference - without my permission. Bank is issuing credit so call your bank. Thanks for this great online confirmation & all your posts. The power of the Internet to hold theses ### accountable is greatly appreciated.

    If you call the number there is also an automated option to request a refund. However they ask for first 6 digits of card used and last 4 also - so no telling if this is an aditional attempt to get your info and scam you for more $. Be careful with this approach.

    I was stunned by so many negative reviews about this service. I've subscribed with them also for 3 day trial and (you may not believe it) they charged me $1.95 as they was supposed. All I did is just unchecked all unnecessary items on the payment page for I didn't need them...I refuse to believe that this is a scam, because I've found all files which I needed and there is nothing to complain about from my side.

    Signed up for the $26 offer and just got my credit card bill whichwas charged $106, Firstly they are not an online storage facility which i thought i was signing up for. The peer to peer software they recomend is free on the internet, and the search engine does exactly the same as the free search engine's on the net.

    So basically you end up paying $106 for what you can get free.

    Total rip off, avoid at all costs.

    UGH! Wished I had searched more about myfiles-member-area.com first before registering, definitely fraudulent! Here's my response to them about being charged wrongly and wanting a refund. Basically, they're trying to pretend like they can't do anything and acting as if I didn't mention a refund.

    Agreed! Total rip off! Have a feeling they're just going to string me along for the next day and suddenly tell me that I can't ask for a refund because it's after 3 days from date of receipt.

    It would be so bad if I could actually have gotten the file I had wanted in the first place. It was a whole bunch of links that just led to zilch. Never existed.

    I would have thought so either, but when the check boxes were there, they only showed these 2 options:
    1. 3 Day Full & Unlimited Access (1.95 USD)
    2. Lifetime Full & Unlimited Access (26.65 USD)

    I checked the first box, making sure that there isn't any other boxes that are checked including unchecking the option to be included into mailing list. I double checked before making payment and still I got charged an amount that wasn't even listed there.

    Either way, I would still like a full refund of my membership fees seeing as I'm unsatisfied with the service. Under your section 10, myfiles-member-area.com offers me an unconditional 3 day money back guarantee and will be happy to refund if I am not entirely satisfied. I have 3 days from the receipt of my welcome e-mail messages to request a refund. I have contacted you immediately after my decision to request a refund, which is the best way to ensure receiving refunds under this policy. I also have placed a Customer Support ticket requesting a refund. My ticket is dated within 3 days since the receipt of your welcome message. As such, I would like a full refund of my membership fee.

    That isn't good an explanation, I have a screen shot of the registration and there was no indication of the additional services.

    Even then, I still would like a refund of my membership fees back. The site wasn't to my satisfaction because it didn't provide what I was looking for. I know how to use the service and it's not a matter of whether I know how to use it or what offer I chose. According to your terms and conditions I'm allowed an "unconditional 3 day money back guarantee", which you are currently ignoring. Are you violating your own terms and conditions?

    I don't need any more replies that aren't helping me. You have blamed me for charging me the wrong amount, I accept that. It doesn't matter whose fault it is here.

    What matters is that I'm unsatisfied with the services and I want my "unconditional 3 day money back guarantee".

    I don't know if you're trying to cheat my money and rights at this point in time because I asked for a refund per your own term and conditions (section 10) and you're refusing to refund me my money. In such a case, violating your own terms and conditions would mean that what this site perpetuates is fraudulent, in other words a scam, and I have to report this to the authorities. Your liability exclusion clause will be invalid once your terms and condtions are considered invalid and fraudulent.

    ARGH! Getting a refund is proving about as easy as splitting an atom.

    I'm getting more and more pissed off with the support system. Almost to the point of wanting to strangle the support person if I ever had the displeasure of meeting. Does not bother listening to what you're saying. At this point it's safe to say it's a full fledge SCAM.

    WATCH OUT! Whatever you apparently "agreed" to in their "Terms and conditions" is not even valid since they clearly violate their own "Terms and Conditions".

    They say that you'll be entitled to a 3 day unconditional money back guarantee, what they actually mean is, "I'm going to string you along and pretend to be an idiot and blame you for everything because you're stupid enough to be scammed, SUCKER! I'm not returning you your money!"

    Technically upon breach of contract all their terms and conditions are invalid but seeing as they successfully scam you by not putting a contact there so they're untouchable, seems like there's nothing one can do.

    Here's the latest lame reply I received from the idiot of a support system. They just basically copied and paste whatever they sent previously without bothering to actually read what you're writing. Getting very ticked off by them, maybe putting in CAPS would actually get their attention. Maybe the title is wrong, got to assume the support really is very stupid. At this juncture I don't care if they charged me wrongly or not, I just want my money back.

    First of all I don't believe the company can violate refund policy in the manner described by you, 'cause it would have been kicked off from online business a while ago. They DO return your money on your request whithin the period of time prescribed in their "Terms and Conditions" and I can judge it by my own experience of comunications with them. I wanted to get a refund for the service I subscribed for as well and the reason was quite simple but very important for me - the speed of downloadable file was too low. So I contacted their 888-number to request my money back though managed to leave a voice message as all the lines were busy at that moment. BUT they returned my phone call within an hour and after having a talk with support representative and explaining the reason for refund they confirmed my money to be reimbursed in a few days. Having checked my account I saw my money refunded there. I'm used to reading "Terms and conditions" purchasing goods online and convinced it's a good practice of dealing with any company.

    Ok, So like everyone here i got scammed as well. $1.95 for 1 day promotional membership, and next thing i know there was a charge for $81.95 . I called my bank CHASE and they said they couldn't do anything about it. So i was wondering has anyone got their MONEY back? If so how? ty
