Good afternoon,
My name is Tom G. and I needed help with my college algebra course that used WebAssign. So I searched on Craigslist for a math tutor and reached out to several different ads online.
I received a reply back from a "tutor" from a 917-983-7787 / 9179837787 number who claimed his name is "Manish." He claimed to be from Atlanta, Georgia but he spoke with a heavy Indian / Middle-Eastern accent. When I asked for info about his educational background, he got defensive and hung up on me.
This made me suspicious, so I decided to Google his phone number and saw that he posted an ad using the same number where the content was completely different from his original ad and he claimed to be a white woman named, "Lauren."
When I questioned him on why he has multiple ads with the same 1-917-983-7787 number impersonating different legitimate tutors on Craigslist, he rudely cussed me out and threatened to cause harm to me.
From what I've gathered, he seems to randomly copy other tutor's ads and pretend to be them in order to trick students into hiring him for his services while the student believes he is actually hiring a legitimate tutor.
WARNING: Do NOT Trust this "Manish" person. He is a rude, foul-mouthed liar and scammer pretending to get a legitimate American tutor when he is actually a fraud from the Middle-East who texts using broken English!
Desired outcome: Warn Students about Hiring a Fake Middle-Eastern Scammer
Hello Tom, my competitor and old friend. Stop stooping to such low level and get some life. I would like you to post some proof of what you have mentioned in your post? Have some chat conversation? email? what kind of fraud was done? You have nothing because you are a scumbag yourself
