Eyeglass World Misleading advertisement and phone call to make appointment

Their ads omn TV say 2 pairs of glasses for $79. I called to make appointment after visiting the Melbourne Florida location and the person did not tell me there are hidden costs. I went to my scheduled appointment and they had me go into a room and they measured my eyes and puffed air into my eyes and the were telling me that part cost me about 90 dollars and they had another test they wanted to to do which would be $22 and I asked where is my eye test to figure out my eye prescription for the eye glasses and was told it was in another room and I had to pay for these tests and I refused since no one told me about these tests and I did not ask for them. I asked for the manager and they tried to see if Medicare would pay all these costs and I told them off and left the room and the managaer asked to see me US medicare card and she entered numbers into a computer and said medicare would not pay it. I told her in no uncertain terms that no one told me that there were any extra costs over the $79 advertised price and as I walked out I yelled to everyone that this place was a rip off and had hidden costs. As I'm getting into my car I got a text cancelling my appointment which was hilarious. BTW I called Medicare and warned them to flag my account in case these scandalous people try to bill Medicare for the phone charges that I did not ask or want. BTW I noticed that the person before me came ot of the same room sort of in a daze and was paying for the tests before he went into the other room and got his eye prescription and he was not pleased.

Claimed loss: They better not bill Medicare because they are aware of what took place and I refused to pay for them checking my eye size and puffing air into my eyes and stopped this spurious ruse before it went any further.

Desired outcome: Lady I saw last month was very nice, spent 1/2 hour talking to me and showed me the glasses I could pick. Never said anything about extra charges over $79, I had moved there 10 months ago-previous place was 140 miles away.

Eyeglass World Prescription put into purchased frames

I bought a pair of frames that I requested for the prescription to be inserted into. I took the pair to Eyeglass World and was told that their system was down and that I could leave the frames and someone would call me back once the system was back up and that I could pay the charge over the phone. I never received a call but a call was placed to my daughter. My daughter stated that the rep told her that she could pay the fee. My daughter paid the fee. Fast-forward.. It has been 3 weeks and still no call as to the glassed being ready for pickup. I called and the rep by the name of Kenyatta stated that she didn't know where the glasses were and that she would have to research to find them and call me back. I waited 3 hours for the callback that I never received and I called back only to be told that the glasses were found and that they didn't have a record of a payment. The rep was very nonchalant about the situation and didn't show any empathy as to their mistake. I purchased the frames for my granddaughter and I am very upset as to how careless the original rep was with the handling of them. I have been a customer for a few years now and I have never had this type of problem. These are employees that I have never dealt with before and I think they need further training on how to assist customers properly, especially when it's an error on their behalf. It elevates the customers anger when they are told that they are too busy to fix a problem that they created which is what I was told when I called back. I am a very disappointed customer.

Desired outcome: I would like a response from a manager of the Lunar Drive location. I can be reached at [protected]. Tynette Cherry

Eyeglass World Extremely rude service

I went to the Lantana,Florida location for a contact exam and contacts and was told.by the doctor that I needed a specific kind of contacts and that it was trial and error whether they were the right ones so I was given a trial pair and told of they didn't work then there was another one I do not remember what it was so when I called to get my history from my chart I was told the doctor never recorded anything so now after spending the money for the exam , the contacts and I had to pay to Uber there and back at least 4-5 times.

Desired outcome: I would like a new exam with a different doctor asap. I would also like the contacts well. Thanks Denise Brooks [protected]

Eyeglass World New eyeglasses prescription/lenses

I went to Eyeglasses World on May 19, 2021for new glasses. They told me my glasses would be ready on June 2, 2021. I get a call on May 28, 2021from Eyeglasses World stating that lenses are coming from another lab, and they don't know when the lenses will be available for my glasses. So I went to the store on Saturday. I asked for a refund. Keep in I paid cash for my glasses. I was told that I would have to wait 20 days for corporate to write me a check. Corporate don't wait 20 days to deposit my money or file on my insurance.

Eyeglass World Unethical behaviour

I orders glasses on 06/30/2016. They examined my glasses that I had on and told me the prescription . After 2&1/2 weeks I received the first pair. The centers were off and the person adjusted the glasses to where I would look through the top of the lens. The top of the glasses were below my eyebrows. I complained about I could see ok but the glasses were straining my eyes. The assistant said I will take a few weeks for your "mind to unwind" from your other glasses. There is a 30 day return policy. I went to another optometrist where I was told that the prescription was different than what they were going to put in. The OS axis was to be 92, They changed it on the form to 103 .The glasses were 105 When I asked why it was changed, The woman said it was in their tolerences I asked for a refund I asked again why it was changed, no answer I was given a refund.

Eyeglass World Eyeglasses....

Purchased two pair of glasses with anti-streak etc and was concerned about frames not lenses a few months in I realized I was having trouble seeing the computer screen in front of me...went a month or two cleaning each morning with lens cloth and lens cleaner (only use this product) - have for years...and I just assumed I must keep smudging them - finally in the last few weeks realized one pair has a permanent streak across one lens and the other is chewed up - like I have been cleaning with sandpaper... lenses... they are terrible...I am angry…never - ever had a lens issues - even close to this...I can't wear either pair without a major vision issue - so have to take them off and look at computer screen fuzzy to see what is there correctly... unbelievable - will continue to warn others... unbelievable and sad for there to be charlatans still selling products in the US in 2015! Happy Thanksgiving Eyeglass World... I hope you can sleep well with such deception...$600 is a lot to me... and you abused my trust...

Eyeglass World Refund

Dp yourself a favor and do NOT do business with this store inparticular or this company. After not being satisfied with my eyeglasses (didn't like them in general and they couldn't be adjusted properly after several tries) I returned them as the back of my paperwork said "100% Satisfaction guarantee" within 30 days. I returned to the store not even 24 hours later..the $217 I paid with cash I was told would have to come in the form of a check..bummer, I thought, but ok...as it would "only take 14 business days"..20 business days came and went so I called the store and got corporate's number, AS I had already spent my money elsewhere on glasses and contacts and rent and other bills were coming due and I needed my money!..after having to research this, I was called back and told the store manager "never submitted the paperwork" for my refund and now I will "have to wait another month"? No! No way! I can't! That's my money and I need it! And who is running the customer service department anyway? This is not how you treat customers! I googled when I was waiting for my refund just to check and see if anyone else had a problem or if this process went smoothly and of course, see for yourself, everyone seems to run into this. I was hoping I wouldn't but here I am. At a time when every penny counts they're going to make me wait another month and will I receive it then? Will I ever receive my money? This is not fair and this is a horrible place, period! Now just received, how ironic, as I'm writing this, a call from Natalie in customer service..she said they found my refund and will be sending it out Friday..I asked her to verify my address bc I do not/cannot have this NOT come I am already late on my bills and she said 63..name of my street..I said NO it's 463 NAME OF MY STREET...they had the number of my address/street wrong! It is not Natlie's fault, she has been very helpful, I want ot point that out, but this has been a nightmare. I am truly sick to my stomach.

Eyeglass World False advertising

The advertising they have on the commercial is totally False Advertising 2 pairs for $78 you do not have thousands of frames to choose from you only have 30 frames to choose from, these people need to be stopped !

My second pair was crooked, I went back 4 times to get them adjusted, however, the secretary just told me not to fall asleep with them so they wont get bent out of shape, unreal, I take my glasses off prior to going to sleep !

Please someone investigate this company, this is wrong, they should be sued for false advertising ! My $70 visit resulted in $357.

Clearly "EyeMother" is a fake name, and/or is an employee of Eyeglass World empire. I talked to a few other people who also went to EGW and didn't get the 38.00 advertised special. This is strange that they are not listed in the BBB files, which means they are not rated, for any location. This says enough. Apparently Ad Results does not like to produce commercials with that as a disclaimer. Say it's common sense, I call it bait and switch, not being honest, etc. If my Rx is too high... just as others' Rx's are, they should have it in writing. "EyeEother, " even you would agree that if your own Rx was too expensive, you'd be angered too... paid or walked away. You can't deny that. So stop trifling and be positive.

Wow, such ignorance. Do you understand that if you put a disclaimer about each little thing that cost bring the cost up, the whole commercial would be a disclaimer? Anti-reflection, transitions, scratch coating, uv protection, lined bifocal, no-lined bifocal, polycarbonate lenses, high-index lenses. And Stanton has nothing to do with Eyeglass World anymore, well for about 2 years now, but, Stanton is worse, let me tell you. I worked for both and would go back to Eyeglass World in a heart beat. And as for the original post, if you only wanted to pay that much, you should have. People get mad after they pick out different things and then pay. Your fault, you could have said "I do not want to pay that much, what are my other options". They do have many frames, and they did have that sale. Did you really expect to get a steak for the price of a chicken nugget? They would go out of business if every single frame was included in that sale. You could have gotten the sale frames and only upgraded your lenses. My guess is you didn't like those frames so you picked out more expensive ones. They have that sale for people who cannot see and can only afford those lenses. If you want to be all cute or handsome in your glasses, you are going to have to pay for better ones. Geez! This is common sense!

Wow! almost what I have been preaching for a few years now.

I went to Eyeglass World for their $38.00 glasses special. I got a set of frames, and single vision lenses. Due to my prescription, the cost went to $622.00. Funny how the most basic lenses and ordinary frames costed 16 times what was advertised. I was shocked. I then went back to get the frames "realigned, " and was curious about if the lenses could be replaced. Kristen (Toledo, Ohio store), told me that I needed to replace the whole set of glasses.

At this point, I never will go to Eyeglass World OR sister company, Stanton optical, due to how they perform customer service.

Bottom line, if some higher prescriptions are more costly, they need a disclaimer on the screen, when they advertise. I was mislead and unsatisfied.

Eyeglass World frames for eyeglasses

On August 13, 2008, I took my daughter to Eyeglass World on East Tropicana. My daughter had the exam, and we bought her glasses there, also. When we went to pick them up 10 days later, the nose piece fell off of the frames she had picked. They gave her a temporary pair of frames and told us they would call when the correct color frames came in. When I checked back about a week later, they hadn't even ordered them. They told me to check back in about a week. I did. Still no frames. I decided the temporary frames were ok and that I would wait the 6 months that I had paid for for the VIP service where you get a free pair of frames at the end of six months. I called them today, explained about the damaged frames she had received and the temporary frames she had been given and that I had never received the phone call. The gentleman on the phone insisted that because she had been given the temporary frames, she had received the frames that I had paid for, when in reality, it was not what I ordered. So I then asked him if they had the same frame in stock, since I would then use my VIP service to have the lenses transferred into the new frames. No such luck. They, of course, do not carry that style anymore, and I would have to pay for a new pair of lenses. So, now my daughter has to wait, with a pair of broken frames before we can afford to buy her a new pair. I will never, ever, use these people again! Someone should do something about this.

Eyeglass World Awful smell

I visited the lake Worth store, and as soon as I entered, I smelled the wet stinky order. I stayed long enough to look at frames, and during the 20 minutes I was there, I began to have respiratory problems. Burning throat and itchy eyes and a throbbing headache. I left immediately and during the rest of the day, I had a headache and sore throat. My eyes and nose began to run. I contacted the store, and got NO response after three calls and an email. I contacted the health department and OSHA came out and found the building to have toxic mold. They are supposed to remove and replace the carpet baseboards and sub-floor. To this date no repairs have been made and the store is open for business. I am sick, really sick for a week now, and trying to get them to pay for doctor and meds. All I got was contact from a lawyer, for them. I will NEVER go there again, but I WILL pursue their liability for my illness.

Eyeglass World Bait & Switch

I phoned the Melbourne, Florida Eyeglass World on Sept 12, 2008. I told the woman who answered the phones that I had printed their "1 Pair of Glasses Only $29" coupon off their website.

I asked her if they had glasses in that price range. She said that there were. I asked if I could come in that afternoon to see them and told her I had my prescription already. She told me to come in anytime and that I didn't need an appointment.

I drove 35 minutes to the Eyeglass World in Melbourne, Florida that afternoon only to find that there were NO eyeglasses in that range!

The salesperson took me to a rack marked "clearance" that was filled with children's frames and told me the $29 frames had to be chosen from this rack but that there weren't any men's frames.

I asked her why the coupon said "any frame under $79" and she replied that the coupon was only good for clearance frames and there weren't any available.

She did tell me that she could sell me more expensive frames from the clearance rack!

I believe this is what is called a bait and switch.

Eyeglass World should be ashamed of themselves, especially since I phoned first and asked their salesperson if the glasses were available. I wasted 70 miles of my fuel and time because of their company's dishonest advertising.

I had a similar experience today with Melbourne, FL store. I have been at the store twice this week-and called them twice, looking at frames, talking to them about their 2 pair glasses w/progressive lenses for $158.00, and asking about hidden charges (they state they have no hidden charges, lol) but when my husband and I went in today to actually PURCHASE, the price went up by $30 PER PAIR because i have a really large correction in one eye, and they charge $10 extra per diopter per eye over/under 3.00 on the sphere reading-meaning if your right eye sphere reading is -3.00 and your left eye sphere reading is + or -6.00 in another eye, you have to pay $30 dollars extra per pair for the lenses.

Now, I have read everything in their advertising, and nowhere does it state that people will be charged more for larger vision corrections. Just for upgrades, to thinner plastic, or to glass, or transistion lenses, stuff like that.

Well, they called me back several hours later offering to give me an extra $30.00 discount, so I would only be paying the extra fee on one pair of the 2 pairs of glasses I am buying. I will be calling the better business bureau, the department of commerce and the dept of professional regulation first thing monday morning.

I agree! 20/20 EyeGlass World and all of these other big box retail stores are horrible! That's why I go to my local eye doctors at BREVARD EYE CENTER! I get all of the attention, care and excellent prices I need. Great doctors, lots of locations so I don't have to waste gas.

Eyeglass World Lies, Lies, Lies

Here is my letter sent to corporate and my cc is denying their charge:
This is a receipt for the mail you sent to
at 8/5/2008 10:03 AM

This receipt verifies that the message has been displayed on the recipient's computer at 8/5/2008 10:32 AM

On Friday, I phoned your Spokane store and explained that I needed glasses immediately since my pair had just been ran over. The consultant Jaime, said that they couldn't do it Friday since with the drive time (1hour 45 min) and combined with their lab tech leaving at 4:30 it wasn't possible; however, if I cam in Monday morning at 11, there would be plenty of time. I asked if I took the appointment at 11, would that give me time to be home by 5pm. SHe replied, "sure, no problem".

After the eye exam, I selected two pairs and brought a high end titatium frame Hugo Boss frame. One of the new pairs would be reading only and the remainder would be progressive lens. I asked if I should go have lunch and come back in an hour to pick up my glasses. She then said, "well I don't think will get them done today, but I'll check". This was a $698.45 purchased made on the promise that I would have my glasses made in time to get me home by 5pm.

If you have noticed, I have mentioned 5pm twice now since that is when I take scheduled medicine--five pills in total, to regulate severe arthritis pain and a pill that counteracts the hypertension caused by the arthritis medication. By 5pm, I am in severe pain through out my entire body and the inflamation in my joints makes it incredibly difficutl to do simple tasks.

I told Jaimee at this point that the only reason why I came to the store was the promise she had made on Friday to have me in and out there in time to get home by 5pm. She acknowledged the promise and then said that they could send the glasses to me by mail. Since when does a place send a patient glasses in the mail upon a new prescription and with a progrssive lens? I have never heard of such a practice! I then said to her that she had made a promise to me and that if she knew she couldn't keep that promise she should have told me when I arrived. (Oh, I should tell you that I am a private copy editor so reading is my business and why there is an urgency to have the glasses the same day, beside driving some 84 miles each way to Spokane.) She then went and got the lab manager who said she would try to have the glasses completed by 4pm.

When I returned at 4pm, I was told that they were working on them. I could hear the polisher in back and assumed that my glasses would be in their frame with in the half hour. I sat there for an hour an a half. Jaimee ignored me. Meanwhile, folks started arriving to pick up their glasses who had been there on previous days and had been told or given the same run-a-round that I was now getting. One lady from Kellog, Idaho, was given the same story on the phone that I was given and had waited the whole day until they finally said she would have to come back the following day. When she arrived the following day, she was told they had mailed her glasses. She drove the eighty miles home only to receive a phone call telling her that her glasses were finished and that she could come pick them up. So she drove the eighty miles again with her elderly mother whom she is the primary givetaker for only to be told that the glasses were not done at all! She too was one of Jaimee's customers and Jaimee now ignored her as well as I.

Another of Jaimee's customers arrived to pick up his two pairs of glasses which of course were not completed and he too had been given the same story as this lady from Kellog, only he was leaving for Europe. Jaimee finally dispensed his sunglasses but the other pair with clear lenses were not finished. It was obvious by this, that I would not receive my glasses as promised or even the revised promise of 4pm.

It was now 5:20pm and the lady from Kellog was still waiting and Jaimee wasstill ignoring us. When Jaimee walked past me, I told her I was leaving and that I would be calling my credit card company and cancelling the charge. She then tried to say that I should have somehow known that they could not produce the glasses(?) since they were having personel problems. Really?

I asked her to recollect the phone conversation and she agreed that yes she had said they would be able to make the glasses and get me home by 5pm. Then she said she didn't realize until that morning (Monday) that theu wouldn't be able to. At this point she had woven her lies into a non-logical knot. I asked why she had continued promising that my galsses would be completed today and that the last promise was "by 4pm" and that was told by her and the lab manager. Again she said well they could mail them to me(?). I asked her why she hadn't told me in the morning when I arrived that they couldn't complete the job since she claimed that she had this realization in the morning. That if she had told me, I could have gone elsewhere. She couldn't reply.

I left the store and drove over to Bank of America and spoke with the manager.

This is what needs to be done at this point:
I will allow a charge for the doctor's exam and prescription of $45.00 and nothing more.
Your store needs to send back my Hugo Boss frames undamaged or compensate me the $349 for the frames.
The remainder of the bill, $653.45 will be credited back to my account.

My bank will formalize this into effect no later than today.

Apparently, Jaimee was only interested in her commission and was willing to deceive me and others. Due to the poor management of the store, she has free rein to deceive folks. Had she been under my management, she would have been directed to state the actual wait time for glasses. Since she is kept in your employ, I will be reporting your store to the Attorney General's office for deceptive practices.

Response to Lies, Lies, Lies:

What I have found is that nobody really wants to sell you the lenses without the frames. Perhaps they didn't have a lens that would fit your frame and had to order them. Did you inform them up front that you were planning to bring in your own frames? This is simply not how it works in the eyeglass business. You have to buy their frames. Their service is based on the fact that you buy both frames and lenses from them. That is how it works. Your complaint isn't clear, because you state that you selected two frames and brought in a "high end" frame. You wanted three pairs of glasses? I'm looking at using this company, because I want same day service, but I'm thoroughly confused by your complaint.

Well I just called for my prescription and they said your prescription went with the old doctor. They have a new doctor now. So the lady on the phone said they will have to email the old doctor who practiced there to get my prescription and said could take a couple weeks. Well Im thinking they should still have records in computer and I should be able to get a copy of it when I need too. Im very leary about this place.

After my experience @ Eyeglass World I guarantee you I will never give them a dime of my business! After my eye exam upon ordering my glasses, they had told me they would be in in two days or latest four days. Here I come to find out after checking on them twice now, they had just placed the order six days later and I would have to wait seven - ten days more for them to come in. The clerk who waited on me did not know how to process the paper work to completion and pushed it aside to finish when a superior arrived. it has been a total of nine days now with another wait involved due to insufficient training and misleading customers with their lies regarding their service .

My wife and I went in for glasses on the 15th. We were told that the glasses would have to be finished the next day because there were no lab techs in for the day. "That is fine, so can we have them shipped to us as soon as they are done?" "Absolutely!" they replied. The instruction to have them shipped to us was given NUMEROUS times throughout the process. Two days later, I called to see if they had been shipped yet. I was told that they were not ready yet, but would be (and shipped) that day. My wife called the following day, and was told that they were ready to be picked up! She explained the fact that we live 2 1/2 hours from Spokane, and they were given instructions to send them when they were finished. The receptionist argued that there were NO notes to that fact, and that she did not have the information needed to send them. It is now the 23rd! I just called them five minutes ago, and (after a 5 minute wait) was told that they were sent today! I guess we will find out soon enough!

Eyeglass World Do not use them

I went for an eye exam on June 19, 2008 at the EyeGlass World location at 44 E. Grand avenue in Chicago, and ordered a pair of glasses. The total price was about $275, and they said that it would take about 10 days to deliver the glasses.

I decided to charge the glasses, but since I needed glasses the same day, I took the new prescription to another store that can deliver glasses in about an hour. The second store made a pair of glasses based on the EyeGlass World prescription, and when I tried them on, they were all wrong.

After a little investigation, it was determined that the EyeGlass world prescription was wrong. I got another exam at the second store, which confirmed that the EyeGlass World Prescription was wrong, and the second store made me a good pair of glasses.

I called EyeGlass World immediately, and they agreed to issue a refund. I went to the EyeGlass World store to fill out the paperwork that they asked me to sign and said that they had to forward the request for the refund to headquarters.

11 days later, I checked my credit card account online, and still no refund. I called the store, and it turns out that this store went out of business some time in the previous 11 days.

I have since attempted to contact EyeGlass World headquarters in Florida with no success, and I am in the process of disputing the charges through my credit card company.

Do not deal with these people. If ever there was a fly-by-night organization, this is one.

I absolutely Do Not agree with the above comments. After researching this company I found Eyeglass World was bought by a very reputable company called National Vision Inc. in 2009. Unfortunately they are being unfairly held responsible for the horrible reputation of the prior owners! My personal experience with Eyeglass World (Bradenton, FL) is they are professional, efficient and helpful. They have a large selection of frames and reasonable prices. Give them a try and judge for yourself.

Tomorrow, I am going to return my $450 BOGO progressive, transition lens glasses that I have had for 2 weeks and cannot see with and have had adjustments and a new pair made. I have had neck pain, mild headaches, and cannot see clearly with this new Rx. I can see better with my 2 year old Rx. If I get my refund tomorrow, I will be back to write a better review!

bi-focal disaster
Cape Coral, US
Jul 17, 2009 8:23 pm EDT

I recently used EyeGlass World in Cape Coral, Florida. It took over 2 weeks to get the glasses instead of the 1 week I was told. The 30 day guarantee to return them for a refund begins the day they sold them and not they day I received them. I took them back within a week of wearing them to inform them I could not read with them. They said they needed adjusted. So they adjusted them and I left. I went back the next week and told them again I just am not able to read with these glasses. I feel like there is barely any bi-focal to see out of. Well the lady then explained to me when I picked these frames they should have advised me they would not be the right size frame to use with bi-focals. She wondered why I had taken so long to come in to say something as my 30 day guarantee was no longer valid. She said the only thing she could suggest was for me to pick out a different frame, which of course I would have to pay for as well as the new lenses the frames would need.

Well I finally did end up buying new frames and lenses which I received today from LensCrafters. What a relief to finally be able to see properly again after 4 months.

I think EyeGlass World doesn't want anyone to be able to read with the glasses and lenses they sell because you might be able to read the fine print regarding their business practices.

I'm so sorry to hear about your bad experiences.
I was considering using EyeGlass World, so I'm VERY glad I came across this site.
I didn't know anyone who had used them, but now I know enough to avoid them like the plague!
Thanks ...

I was also ripped off by Eyeglass World -- the Castleton Store in Indianapolis, IN.
Much of the same problems, wrong prescriptions, failure to deliver glasses as promised under their 2 for 1 promotions; promise to return my money made by a Mr. Hutchinson after I complained to the local better business bureau; They have made suing them difficult because their license to do business inthe state of indiana has been revoked. Thanks for complaint because then others who have been harmed won't feel as bad.

Eyeglass World They don't care about the customers

I bought a pair of glasses with Transitions lenses here in Mobile on May 6, 2008 -- they were charged to my credit card that very day. I was told it would take approximately 14 days for them to be ready. I called after a week and after two weeks and they were not ready. After three weeks I was told they were being shipped. A few days later when we went to the store to have an adjustment to the glasses I was wearing, I asked about them again. It was Sunday, and he could not check until Monday, but said he would and would let me know. I heard nothing Monday or Tuesday. I called him Wednesday, and when I got to talk to him he had not checked. He did then, and called to tell me they were shipped the day before, and would be ready in a day or two. When I got a call saying they were ready, four weeks and two days later, we went in, only to find they had the wrong prescription in them and everything was blurry! I asked for my money back. He said they don't do that, but gave us a customer service phone number. We called, and when we got a person, we were told the store manager has to okay that. We went back, and found he is the store manager! A few days later, yesterday, after calling customer service a couple times, we got a call saying we would get a refund in 7 to 10 days! They have had my $312.12 since May 6, and I should have to wait another 7 to 10 days! I have tried to get an explanation, but they will not return phone calls or emails. I have nothing in my hand to show I will get my money back, so in the meantime I do not want to go elsewhere for glasses that I might end up having to get there. I hate that I ever stepped foot in that store and I am letting everybody I know about what kind of company Eyeglass World is. They do not care about their customers.

Eyeglass World Still no glasses

Eyeglass World is a POOR EXCUSE of a company and should be PUT OUT OF BUSINESS. I purchased glasses over 2 months ago and was told to allow 3 weeks...never received call and when I called, I was told that because of my strong prescription I had to select new frames from the selection THEY CHOSE, although I paid extra for the lens to be thinned out and they did not have my correct telephone number, although I gave it to them...3wks pass and no glasses or call...was told to give another week, still no glasses...their excuse this time...my one pair of glasses had a nick in it and was sent back. I was told they don't do refunds, only exchanges. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN AND WILL WARN OTHERS TO AVOID THIS MISERABLE EXCUSE OF A COMPANY.

I have used Eyeglassworld before and everything went well. My glasses are not easy to make either so I was impressed when they were done right the first time. Other places have had to make them over 3 and 4 times before getting them right.

I will never do business with them again either! I paid over $700 for two pairs of glasses three weeks ago. Only one pair came in, they arrived broken!

Also, the Leesburg store is TERRIBLE. They do not have enough help. Two people run around like chickens with their heads cut off and the lineup waiting for glasses is long, long! I spent four hours my first time there just to order glasses after having my eyes examined. I should have stuck with Walmart. Closer to home and faster service. I've never heard of any store that made you wait over 3 weeks for new glasses, especially after paying over $700!

Eyeglass World Avoid at all costs

The eyeglass world in Louisville ***! I have never experienced such poor service. They were willing to take my $500 at the store, but when I failed to receive my contacts, they said a refund could only be issued through "corporate". They said contacts would be in 2 weeks and after 6 weeks of no contacts, I asked for a refund. There has been no apologies and no attempts to treat the customer with respect This is a rip-off scam of a store! Whatever you do, avoid this store. I may lose my money but I hope they go out of business and their employees go to he**.

I also had terrible service. Last February I ordered a pair of glasses. I went to pick them up and the girl that was working did not check how they fit or even have me tried them on for her. When I got home I noticed the frame was cracked. I took them back and ordered a new pair. It took over a month for me to get my new glasses. I never received call backs after leaving messages for the manager. When I finally picked up my glasses, the manager was very rude and told me I got my glasses after all. Never Never got to this store, it is located in Brookfield, Wisconsin.

I had a similar issue with eyeglasses from Eyeglass World. I ordered 3 and only got 2. The 2 I had were not correct. It took me 4 months, a call to the holding companies president, Ben Cook, and the BBB to get my refund.

Eyeglass World Terrible service!

On March 6, 2008, my partner Brian, had an appointment at EGW in Denver. He had, in hand EGW's current ad listing a price of $129, which was to include: A three (3) month supply of Accuview contacts.

One (1) pair of prescription glasses,
One (1) pair of non-prescription glasses (from 'selected styles'),
Two (2) boxes of contact lens solutions, and
Three (3) years savings of 50% on all future purchases.

Since his old glasses had been damaged beyond repair/use, I drove him to the appointment and waited for him. After a long time (over two hours), he came out to the vehicle to let me know that they were running significantly behind schedule but that it wouldn't be much longer. After another hour, I went in to the store to check on progress. By that time they had finally completed his eye exam and contact fitting, both of which he said were done in a hurried fashion.

He picked out the frames for his glasses, and he & I sat down with Joanne Munoz to discuss final options, payment and delivery. In an attempt to maintain goodwill for EGW after the intolerably long wait, Ms. Munoz offered to take $59 off of the $129 price. Brian had already paid EGW $89 for the exam and contact fitting. So, with the $59 discount offered by Ms. Munoz, the balance due should have been $70 + tax. She told Brian that she would place the order for his glasses and requested that he try a sample pair of the contacts for a few days before placing the order for the three month supply. Brian is living with AIDS and on Social Security. Based on that, he asked if it would be possible to pay the $70 balance when he went in to pick up his glasses. Ms. Muniz stated that that would be fine and that his glasses would be ready in 7-10 days. We left the store four full hours after arriving.

On the 9th, Brian called back in to say that the contact prescription was working well and to request that EGW go ahead and place the order for the full supply. Shortly before 9:00 pm on Tuesday the 11th, Brian received a phone call from Mike, the 'manager' at EGW who stated that Brian still owed EGW $129 and that he wouldn't receive his glasses and that his contacts wouldn't be ordered until the balance was paid in full. When Brian told the 'manager' about the good will adjustment made by Ms Munoz, Mike informed him that Ms. Munoz didn't have the authority to make that decision and that he 'would address that issue.', making it clear that he had no intention of honoring the commitment.

Since ethical, customer service oriented actions don't appear to fit with EGW's corporate philosophy, it seems safe to assume that Joanne has been terminated for displaying initiative. Unfortunately, she made no notes on the paperwork given to Brian to reflect the $59 credit, which was to be given on Brian's account.

Calls to EGW's corporate customer service [protected] x2042, Gayle) have gone to voicemail with no response after four days. All Brian wants is his glasses, contacts and sunglasses at the price offered by the EGW ad and Ms. Munoz. At a minimum, there should be some form of compensation for eight hours wasted at EGW.
