Escrow Service — Unethical business practices & poor customer service
SEASIDE ESCROW (UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES). Seaside Escrow serviced my recent home purchase escrow closing and has tried to rip me off by fixing closing fees to avoid paying me my refund. In order to close I had to pay the remaining balance of my down payment at the close of escrow and since the fees are estimated fees at the time of closing I paid an additional $300 "pad" to ensure that all fees were covered. In addition to my over payment the seller rented back from me for a few days, so Seaside Escrow had both my overpayment pad and the sellers rent back money (over $735) to cover any additional closing cost fees. The escrow officer debited the rent back money to both the seller and the buyer, which canceled that monies out and then tried to use my $300 overpayment pad to cover closing fees. I had a feeling something wasn't right and they keep telling me everything was right and that I would be getting no refund. I keep digging and digging and finally after threatening them with legal action they redid their numbers and realized their mistake and told me that I'd be getting my full $300 overpayment refund back. It took them over 3 weeks to research their work and I still haven't received my refund and they’re not returning my calls or emails. Not only are their business practices unethical and take advantage of home buyers, they take no accountability for their actions and they treat their customers poorly and like they're idiots. I would not recommend Seaside Escrow to anyone who isn't fully familiar with the escrow process - they're shady, they're rude and they're unprofessional.
