Emerge Credit Card Cancellation of Cards

I tried using my Emerge card a few days ago and it was rejected. I had just paid it in full as I do every month. When I arrived home, I called and talked to someone, not in the U.S. for sure; leave it at that, and they kept reading from their script every time I would ask a question. "Due to the economic condtions...etc." Basically they went out of business, I asked? Same script. I have had this card for years and years as it has changed hands 3 times until Emerge picked it up. They could have given everyone a heads up to NOT use your cards! Oh, of course I asked if this would affect my credit; same script..."due to the economic conditions...and not if I pay my final bill. DER.

I had a zero balance and they closed my account and called me to let me know I had a 25.00 membership fee + a 15.00 late charge + .62 interest = 40.62
This canpany is going to stell 50, 000000 and then pay a 10, 00000 fine and laugh all the way to the bank. ( like providion did a few years ago. )
There should be something we could do about this!

Emerge Credit Card cancellation

never missed a payment, no late payments just cancelled for no cause, credit limit taken and was told I had better continue to keep making payments

These contract provisions may be true, but it's NOT about credit worthiness. All Emerge cards are being terminated, including my own. As far as I know, it has little or nothing to do with any customer's credit worthiness. It seems that most of us who have Emerge cards didn't choose this company; our accounts were sold to it. And now they're just jumping ship. From the sounds ot it, if they'd played their cards right, they could have had many loyal, paying customers. If anything, Emerge's losses may be due to their own unscrupulous practices and stupidity in the marketplace.
