Costa Rica car rental dispute over unauthorized charge and failure to provide service as per car rental agreement.
Economy Rental agent sold me on a no questions asked super loss damage waiver and when the car failed to start they sent out a replacement car only to be told I need to sign a blank Visa slip for any damages. Upon refusing to sign they were to leave me on the side of the road until my wife got in the replacement car and would not be left. Upon reaching Economy service center in Liberia was told no replacement car would be provide. Later that day I saw a charge of $2, 645.93 without my authorization which Bank of America is investigating as fraud. Economy Rental does not return my calls and has never contacted me over why the car would not start.
I am very concerned that Alaska Airlines recommended Economy Rental and as an Alaska Airline GOLD user I will bring this to their attention.
I have contacted Economy Rentals only to be told their all inclusive insurance does not cover the engine not starting. Charges were made against my credit card without my authorization beyond the original rental. No efforts have been made to contact me by Economy even after I filed a complaint with them concerning Contact # 0034589. In the USA efforts are made to contact the customer as to any additional charges. The Economy Rental agent after I signed all the documents and I was heading out the door said, here are more signatures required but do not worry it is just a formality as your insurance covers any expense to the cars use. Well, seems that was a lie. I continue to dispute the charges with my credit card company. Unsettling to take the Economy Rental agent at his word only to be told I have to buy them a rebuilt engine. This is after the agent talked me into canceling my Alaska Airlines insurance whom I booked the rental car with. Larry Boyd
I too am having this very same experience with Economy Rent A Car! A fraudulent charge of $2000 was just made to our credit card after an accident. We had punched full coverage in the case of an incident and now we are bring told about an additional mysterious waiver which we were never given, nor was it included in our executed agreement that was emailed to us. Strange dont you think? We will be reporting to authorities immediately.
