Very poor 🤒
We don't know much about how Dollarama handles customer complaints outside ComplaintsBoard, but what we see here, on our website, is quite disappointing. We think there might be reasons for the company's actions (like not knowing about the complaints), and we would be happy to see them among customer-focused businesses that easily solve customer problems. But until that happens, we ask reviewers to be cautious when dealing with Dollarama and using their services, and to carefully read the experiences of other customers on ComplaintsBoard, because who is warned is armed, you know! 💪

Dollarama rancid popcorn

hi this isn't frequent had only happened twice since i first bought popcorn at dollarama in londonderry mall

I have had good popcorn from that store, I'm planning on trying another dollarama to see if there is any issues

once last year in the summer (July 2018), and it happened again this summer (August 2019)

I didn't think to send an email until today, and i don't have the recipts anymore, i don't expect compensation, just hoping Dollarma could change policy with food products, for if popcorn or any other food goes bad for anyone else

I hope this type of issue will not be overlooked, people could get food poisoning from eating the rancid popcorn, that would look very bad for dollarama,

(if this is not responded to, I will let my alberta governement know and have them; investigate this) (Under public health laws)

(sorry if it sounds like i'm threatening anything; that's not my intent

I've seen other people complain about this happening with other products

Thank you for your time

Dollarama management

To go into the store in carbonear and be in the line up being served to have them get a call from an employee saying there sick and will not be in then have the manager or key holder say there name won't be in because there sick but turn around and say there hung over out with boyfriend last night in front of customers to witnessing a girl let go while serving a customer on cash instead of taking them in the office very unprofessional i think it needs to be addressed to keep work stuff to themseves and not in public or at home.

Dollarama customer service

Good evening,
I just visited this store as usual (6 pm) and I asked to a employee (who was filling shelves) about some product, unfortunately my pronunciation wasn't right and he laughed at me. I don't know why he treated me with that familiarity because he isn't my friend, he didn't even apologize .
I think he hasn't good modals and his service was rude, also his attitude doesn't represent the Canadian culture, country where people respect each others.
Please take action with respect to this issue.
Thanks in advance.

Dollarama sesame crisp

Purchased a snack under the name "Sesame Crisp", and as I bit down into it I realized there was a part I couldn't chew. It turned out to be a small piece of plastic, the size of a small fingernail, that hard been right in the middle of it.This is beyond ridiculous, it needs to he pulled off the shelves before it happens to anybody else, and causes an accident.

Dollarama security

My daughter and her friend went to dollorama in winnipeh manitoba located on 595 sargent avenue in june 27, 2019 at approx 8 am. When taking hygiene products to the cashier to pay they heard the caucasion who was bald annd looked to be in his late 30's security say something to them. When they asked him to repeat himself because they couldnt hear him his reply- clean your [censored]en ears- they told him he didnt have to be rude and continued to pay for their items. As they were trying to leave he blocked their way and refused to let them go until he dug through my daughters back pack. She told him go ahead and waste your time checking my bag. After finding nothing he rudely told her - at least i have a [censored]en job-.
Is this normal or acceptable practice for your stores you treat customers this way? I realize this store is located in an unsavory part of the city and i have no doubt they have alot being stolen but to treat paying customers this way is unacceptable. I can be reached @ [protected]

I was also treated badly by a security guard while shopping with my son, who had his own money...he stalked us in the store and I assured him my son is with me and not stealing anything. The guard then complained to another employee about us within earshot and then came up to me while in line paying and asked me what my problem is? I filed a complaint about it with Dollarama and the guards employer too.

Dollarama a dollorama policy

Hi,
My name is Daisy. I was in one of your store in Atholville NB, Canada, may 17 2019.
I was there with my daughter, she was searching for a toy to buy as I given her money (5$). Unfortunately the one she really wanted was open and missing a piece. She's only 5 years old. I said to her no worries we will say it to the cashier and maybe they will find the missing piece OR sell it for less.
When we arrived at the cash to pay, for me being honest, and the cashier you can tell she as some kind of disability, they took the toy away from my kid, said they can't lower the price even if I wanted to buy it in the fist place. She was very very sad and we are french. In no way they explained for her to understand, he said sorry and walked away.
I suggested in front of the cashier that instead we were going to buy a toy in Walmart.
I'm very disapointed of the way to store treated us. It's been like this in Atholville for quite some time with the workers. They have no maners.
I'm going to make this public on how dollorama in atholville treated my 5 year old daughter.

Dollarama about the cashier

I was shopping at the Dollorama store, 295 Portage Ave on May 15 th between 3:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. and the cashier with yellow hair, with ponytail was rude and besides, she was sticking her finger in her mouth to get saliva because she could not open the plastic bag. It was disgusting! Nobody wants her saliva on products.
I said the manager of the store about it. He said he will keep an eye on her.

Dollarama 15l storage box with cover

This item was selling at 3.50 per box. Once they seen it was a good seller the price was increased to $4.00 per box. But what I don't understand is the fact the the item did not change and not even the sku. I can buy the same exact item t walmart, same price, free delivery.
I just find it sad that people that go there to support and keep you guys going you keep changing prices on the items that sell.
Prices go up... but if you stopped throwing items in dumpsters that don't sell at the end of season you wouldn't be eating into your profit. (YES THEY DO THIS> IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY EMPLOYEES)

Dollarama gift card purchase

Hello,
On March 27, I bought a few items from the Dollarama store at Dundas and Hurontario in Mississauga. I spent $78.07 on items from the store $25.00 of which was a gift card. I bought the gift card for my mother -in-law birthday as she is a recovering cancer patient and we wanted to lift her spirits on her bday. She has not been out of her house until today and she wanted to use her gift card. At the same store i bought the card she went there and tried to use the card. The cashier told her that there was only .25 cents on the card and called her manager. The manager then came and without trying for herself made some really serious and unprofessional accusations that either my mother in law already used the card or i used it before giving it to her. She refused to give her name or the store number or address so that we could file our complaint and continued to degrade my mother in law and basically calling her a liar.
I was hurt and so disgusted by this lady and her comments behaviour, that we left the items we were going to purchase and walked out the store. I came home and looked at by bank transaction to discover the date and the amount that was spent at the store.
I honestly cannot believe that instead of looking into the matter and trying to come up with a solution this lady automatically started to call us liars.
I spent my money to get her a gift card for $25.00 if i had purchase a higher dollar value gift card it would have been the same thing.
I don't appreciate this and would like to be reimburse my funds or give me back a gift card with the same value. I can easily say the person who sold me the gift card, put the .25 cents on my card and then later got the $25 gift card for herself or someone else. However, i'm not going to accuse anyone of such devious behaviour.
The gift card that was given to me at purchase is [protected]-312. I don't know if that can be of assistance, but I would like my funds back and for that person at that store to be trained on customer service skills.

Dollarama false accusations

On Sunday April 14/19 at approximately 3:15 P.M. I was in this store when I was approached by a female employee to look inside my bag. Upon entering the store I grabbed a cart, but eventually only had 3 items in the cart. So I put the cart back & grabbed the items & proceeded to carry them them around the store. A clerk came by & asked to look in my purse as she states I had a cart before. I then opened my purse & walked out the store embarrassed. Once in my car, I decided not to let this go & went back in the store and asked to see the manager. Once I explained the situation to him, we found the clerk who had inquired about the contents of my purse. She then apologized to me & I said fine, but you just lost a customer. I then walked out of the store.
In all my years shopping at various Dollarama stores I have never been treated this way. This event is not acceptable and something has to be done. It is not ok for any employee to treat people in this manner. It is not ok to belittle and humiliate someone in front of others the way she did me. Not sure why I was singled out, not sure if it was because I am a mature indigenous woman.

Dollarama customers service

Costumer service extremely poor at this location. I went in the store at about 10 pass 11, in the line there was about 10 costumer and 1 cashier. I inquired if she was going to call for back up and I was told that their was no one to call for back up. The other lady could help because she was on break apparently. I have not been to the location in over a year for this same reason, and it is very sad that same old experience I encounter in there nee location. Maybe this won't change a thing but I thought it should let it be know. This location will paint dollarama with a bad brush. I would rather take my business to dollar tree where at least their costumer service to be a lot better in my opinion. In no try to be rude I'm just try to be honest. We seem to be lacking the basic skills in today society. Thank you I hope this helps.

Dollarama condition of the store itself

To whom this may concern:

Upon moving in to the LaSalle area in October 2018 I went to this store as I always do no matter where I live and I have to say out of all the Dollarama stores I have been in this one in my opinion is an accident waiting to happen and also did today (March 25, 2019)
After entering the store and starting to go up and down isles and gradually finding the aisles getting worse and worse in even worse condition then previous visits not that I really expected anything different since the store has been nothing but a disaster area since our move here. Today however was the worst I have ever seen it as you will see from the photos I attached to this email.
So many boxes everywhere making it very difficult for people to shop and actually see what was on the shelves and hooks not to mention as I was trying to make my way down the baby aisle with barely enough room to get through the pole on the shopping cart caught hold of a box on the overhead shelf and almost knocked it down I was not the only one in the aisle as there was a lady with her baby trying desperately to get the things she needed amongst the many boxes in the way this made me very nervous and worried that something might fall and god forbid to hit the baby or anyone for that matter. This store is an accident waiting to happen and the way people are so quick to sue now a days your looking for a lawsuit with the state of this store.
The first couple of times of being in the this store I let it slide that there was so many boxes everywhere and selves and pegs empty but now I see it getting worse nothing is getting better so sad. I will now no longer do my shopping at this store I will make my way into Windsor and shop there a few boxes I get that but the amount that was in this store today was ridiculous and no one even working in most of the aisles that were over run in boxes. Bring only what you can empty then go get more there is no need for the disaster that is this store. I have submitted my resume to this store but after seeing it go down hill fast it is not a place I want to work as I started it is an accident waiting to happen and exactly where is the safety representative that works there apparently neither the manager or safety are doing their job.
They are no where to be seen amongst this nightmare.

As I stated I have attached a few photos to show the state of this store.
I hope that you take this email seriously and greatly improve things in that store before someone gets hurt .

Thank you

Dollarama hair color products missing from the box.

Hello Dollarama, March 20, 2019
I went to the Dollarama at Edmonton City Centre on March 5, 2019 and bought 2 boxes of hair color. When I got home, I realized that the products in one of the boxes was missing. I phoned Dollarama about 1.5 hours after leaving their store. The man that answered the phone said they have had this happen before. He said as long as I have my receipt, I can exchange it.
I went to the Dollarama on March 19, 2019 and spoke to a short woman with blonde curly hair and glasses. She said they don't give refunds. I said to her it wasn't my fault that the products were missing from the box. She made it seem like it was more my fault then the cashier, when the cashier didn't notice either.
I told the woman with blonde curly hair and glasses that for me to have come back right away, it would have cost me more, compared to waiting when I had another reason to go to Edmonton City Centre. During our conversation, she decided that she couldn't be ‘bothered anymore' and walked away.
I've been a fan of Dollarama for many years but this has definitely put a dent in me continuing to shop at your company again.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Dana Allcock

Dollarama customer service

I was with my family and friend at this store to buy some items. At the time of payment, the cashier asked if I needed bags. I asked him if there's a charge for a bag. His reply was simply RUDE and with dry face attitude, saying that the government charges for the bags and not me.

I was surprised the way cashier replied to my question. My comment to him was his customer service was not good and unfriendly. He said 'have a good night'.
The store manager was not helpful in inquiring about the situation and she covered up her staff. She was polite though. We stepped out of the store avoiding any confrontation. People go there for shopping and not to buy confrontations.

Please, remove such rookies from your store that WILL affect goodwill of Dollarama brand or at least give a warning to discourage their bad customer service practice.

Dollarama customer service - in store

Hi, We have been a regular customer until today but I would like to avoid the Cranbrook, BC Dollarama starting today on-wards owing to a bad experience from your staff. That lady (don't remember name) claimed to be a Manager herself but she doesn't seems to be. Rude behavior, reluctant to help, careless attitude. Actually, I got an item (metallic shampoo basket) which is not worth and it was faulty. When we intended to return it, we found that the receipt is either missing or possibly not provided at the first place (we did lots of shopping on that day). When I took that product she straight away refused to even talk and said she is not interested to listen my story (Possibly she seems to be a racist to me since I am apparently a visible minority). I was literally shocked to see her offensive and impudent behavior. She even went on blaming me that I could have stolen this and wanted to return this for money. I mean come on, I am a taxpayer and work with a reputed organization in British Columbia as IT Consultant. When I refused to accept that item back, she threw that in the bin in front of me. If this is the kind of people you have interacting with the customers, I am really afraid that this branch may be the highest in terms of losses. I would like you to take strict actions on her irresponsible, offensive and rude behavior.

Dollarama false accusations/defamation of character

On Thursday March 14, 2019 at approximately 2:30 pm I attended the store to buy a few items. I love shopping at the Dollarama stores as they are constantly getting in brand name and as seen on tv items and I like to see what's new and purchase the items before they are all gone. They never know what they are getting or when so you just have to check frequently.
On this particular day I enetered the store and went directly to the check out to pass in a car key I had found outside on the sidewalk. I figured who ever dropped the key would for sure go in there to inquire if anyone had turned it in as it was right outside their store. I then got a shopping cart and proceeded to the beauty isle. As I was approaching the aisle a female employee was coming across the front of the store with a large cart full of boxes. She left the cart in the middle of the floor and began to follow me down the aisle stopping along her way to play with items on the shelves. I didn't see an item I regularly buy and asked her if they had any or if they have been moved as they move stuff all the time. She told me to check the end cap of the aisle so walked to the end of the aisle at the back of the store to check. There were none so I proceeded across the back of the store to the last aisle to get my Windex and sand which bags. I noticed she was following behind me as I walked and as I turned into the aisle she went into the back room at the rear corner of the store. She then came back out and proceeded to follow me down the aisle. At this point I realized that she was definitely indeed following me. I felt uncomfortable of course like anyone would but didn't really care as I was doing nothing wrong. Once I got everything I needed from that aisle I was back at the front of the store and started to walk across the front scanning the shelves as I went for any new items that were of interest to me. When I reached the front where the check outs are. I noticed the employee following me had turned down one of the aisles going towards the rear of the store. I remembered I had to get a box of straws which are in the first aisle by the registers so I proceeded to turn down that aisle. Once in the aisle this employee who had been following me approached me and loudly and rudely said to me "can you take that out of your purse". I just looked at her kind of puzzled and shocked and said "excuse me. What are you talking about". Once again she said "take it out of your purse". I again asked her what she was talking about and told her that the only things in my purse were mine and that I had nothing of her concern in my purse. She then very loudly and rudely ordered me to leave the store. At this point I was becoming very upset. Not only at the fact that she was right out accusing me of having store merchandise in my purse but at the fact that there were several people standing there looking and listening to this whole ordeal. It very embarrassing and frustrating. No one on this earth is ever going to accuse me of something terrible that I have not done without my proving that they are wrong so I then began to hand her my purse and told she was more than welcome to check it out herself. Rather than accept my offer or tell me to show her myself she just kept yelling at me to leave the store and refused to look in my purse so I took everything that was mine and in my purse out and pulled the lining of my purse right out in front of her and said "see. There is nothing from this store in my purse. I only have MY things in here". Once I did this she looked embarrassed and then said "oh well ok you can go pay for your items but then you have to leave this store". Well at this point I was just about having a full blown panic attack as I do have severe panic attacks if put in a an overly stressful situation which this indeed was but I then looked at her and said " seriously. I just showed you my purse and you see that I have nothing and you are telling me to go pay for my things but then telling me to still leave the store and are very rude and disrespectful to me". "Just pay for your things and leave" she said. I then walked the 7 or so feet directly over to the lady working on the register and showed her inside my purse and explained to her why I was showing her. I wanted another person to see. This other employee was watching this whole event and knew what was going on but I still made sure to explain it to her and showed her that I had nothing belonging to the store in my purse. I figured if this rude lady was still telling me leave the store and would not apolajize to me after finding out that she was wrong that I did not trust her and wanted a witness. Trying to keep my cool as best as I could without falling apart I then paid for my items and went out to the car where my daughter was waiting with our dogs.
As I got into the car I was mid way into a panic attack and asked my daughter to please hurry and get me one of my anxiety pills out of my purse. My anxiety and panic attacks get so bad that I am prescribed special medication for it. It took me around 10 to 15 minutes to tell my daughter what had happened as I couldn't breath and was so upset from the ordeal. Once my daughter heard what had happened she was very upset. I've been her mother for 28 years and I still teach her to be kind, honest and sincere and she knows what kind of person I am and that I would never steal anything so she turned the car around and went back to the store to go confront the lady and ask her why she did that to me. My daughter is a smart woman and she recorded the whole conversation. During the conversation she asks the lady if she had seen me take anything or do anything wrong and the lady very clearly replies "no. I just needed her to leave".
This lady admitted that I had done nothing wrong so why did this whole event take place. In all of my years going to that store I have never had a single issue and I spend a lot of money there. I'm assuming she was having a bad day and wanted someone to take it out on or she has some kind of issues going on. I'm not sure why but I do not that this event was not acceptable and something has to be done. It it not ok to treat people in this manner. It is not ok to belittle and humiliate someone in front of other the way she did me.
My daughter was also greatly affected by this. Seeing her mother in that state for doing nothing wrong upset her to the fullest extent. Her mother went into Dollarama to buy a few things and comes out crying and in a full blown panic attack. This is not right and it is not ok. It seem to me from reading many of these complaints that Dollarama employees do this to a lot of their customers. Something needs to be done to ensure that customers are treated with simple common curtesy and are treated like human beings. Nothing else is acceptable.
I have tried to attach a copy of the recording taken that afternoon. Unfortunately it's saying it does not recognize the file format so it cannot be added. You can contact me to hear the recording. Thank you.

Dollarama false accusations

Sir,
Today (October 14 2018) I was in dollarama in Wellington rd near Metro in London Ontario. I was approached by a supervisor in front of many other customers and I was loudly told that I was not allowed in the store due to my being seen shoplifting previously. I was threatened with being arrested and was ordered out of the store. My husband returned to the store and was told I had been seen by another patron with a tag sticking out of my bag and I had left with a warning to not return. Apparently I had been coming in with 4 children and opening up packages and stealing items.
First of all I do not have 4 kids. I have 2.
Second, the employee said I had long red hair. I have blonde hair. The employee admitted that yes, my hair was not the same.
I tried to speak with the employee and to show them the receipt from my purchases at another dollarama that same day but I was made to leave.
I am asking you to please help me access any security footage of this person to clear my name. I have never stolen anything.in fact, I returned to a store when I discovered my child had put a book in the basket of my stroller. I was well on my way home when I discovered this and I turned around and went back and returned the book, apologizing to the employee I returned the item to. I would not be pursuing this if I fact I was guilty. I am not. I was humiliated publicly along with the accusations and although I have been a patron of dollarama for many years now, I will likely not be anymore due to this experience. Please help me in restoring my credibility and honesty.

Thank you.

M. Rodgers

Dollarama racial profiling

Today as I was shopping for birthday decoration and other items as soon as I came into the store one of the employees left one of the aisle and called for security for aisle 1 and that's the aisle I was in another employee came to the same extact aisle that I was in same spot but behind me that I was not in the store for more than 3 mins and then I got upset and asked for manager and I spoke to the manager and the manager told me a stupid lie saying the employee just had to scan the aisle it's funny how I just came in the store and all of a sudden they need to scan the aisle find that kind of weird so I continued to shop and browse to figure what I needed I guess because I've in the store so long they have assumed thatI was stealing so this time I seen the manager called for security and then she lefted front and started to follow me I'm very upset and feel very offended bought my things and left the store!

The moment i reach there lady closing the door i request her please let me take tylenol i am very sick since 2 days i walked in snow to reach there thats why i got late ...i really need medicine i cant sleep tonight . She said rudly like you dont know store is closed i said its about to close but she did not listen me and She shut the door on my face so harshly like she hit whole day agression on my face. She was very rude.
I literally cried alot in jackson at that night due to her behaviour i was already sick but due to her behaviour i cried and my health became more worse.
Means closing is important for dollarama than anybody life.

This thing pinched me alot..
I will never go to dollarama in my life its my promise though its cheap...
I also worked with osmows, bagel house employers taught me that give respect to customers though if they come during closing do not deny them for sandwitch...make rightway..because they are hungry they need us..you will loss nothing if you spend 5 min more at job its blessings.

I was expecting more from dollarama.
But no
I was wrong
I just want to ask is this you teach your employees
That react harshly and hit door on customer face when they really need you...

I did not say anything to that lady ...just tears were in my eyes.
