Dollar Rent A Car excessive toll charge but no evidence or receipt

Dollar have charged over $100 to my credit card for toll fees.
I contacted them for clarification of what these charges were for.
They have refused to give me a bill receipt or itemise exactly what I have been charged for.
This is surely fraud.
How can I be billed without a valid reason for billing me.
All I ask is an itemised bill for what I am being charged I will gladly pay if it's correct.

Bee'lani (spelling?) driving van rtg787 at honolulu airport was ride and refused we get on her bus. We asked why since there were still lots of seats left (rental counter not airport) she said she did not have space. I showed her the 6 seats. She said she wanted to save them for thrifty customers. I mentioned I was in a hurry. She said she did not care. Unbelievable!

Dollar Rent A Car refund for days unused and unethical behavior by staff : invoice u26830635

I did not make a reservation via phone but waked into the Dollar location in Jackson Hole to rent a car for 4 days. My husband and I had a family situation and we had to shorten our vacation and fly back home. We turned the car in the next day and they said we had signed a contract and had to pay for the full 4 days. We had the car for only 30 hours and the bill was 656.000 The manager and front desk person were extremely rude. They said they could have rented the car to someone else but since we turned it in 2 days early they actually still had plenty of time to rent it again I initially paid cash with a small balance on American Express and then asked to change and put the whole amount to a credit card. At first, the front desk clerk said the manager had left so she could not handle transaction. Then, I went to the back to take a photo of the car and the manager was still there so they lied. She said that Am Ex would not allow them to change the transaction and when I called Am Ex they said that was ridiculous and a lie as well. I understand I have to pay for two days of car rental as it was returned after the first 24 hours but it is ridiculous to pay for 2 days after I returned the car. I have never been treated so rudely. I am requesting a coupon/credit for the 2 days of rental that were charged after the car was returned to be used in the future for a car rental. Otherwise, you will lose my future business and I am a frequent traveler. I actually rented a car at this same location in Jackson Hole several years ago for 6 weeks. In addition, I will be forced to write bad reviews on social media. I am in the service industry and we all know, happy customers and referrals are extremely important to our business. Soo.. you signed a contract saying that you'd have the car for 4 days, they'd reserved the car for you for that period of time and you're not happy that they suddenly didn't turn around and take it back after 30 hours because you changed your mind?

Dollar Rent A Car rental

I will NEVER rent from Dollar again. The counter agent was grumpy, the woman gave us no dictions that we need to hop in the car and check out, and just to get 5hrs more they want $100 more when I could have been inconvenienced and got a separate reservation for 1 night for $43. This is horrible customer service! And I could barely understand the representatives that kept passing me from one to the next. I may not matter but I will certainly spread the word.

- According to your booking information, I need to additional payment of NZD 53.27 (It means full coverage with insurance excess protection. But Dollor asked me to pay NZD 127.43. I showed my booking documents. But Dollor asked me full payment because they did not have any payment record in their system. I paid full amount what they need. I ask refund my extra payment of NZD 74.16

I recently rented a car on 9th September at JFK, NY (due to return 12th Sept-JFK, NY 12:00), I have quoted the above RR number for convenience.

This booking was under the name Grocott and was originally booked via Trip.com at an agreed quoted price in GBP, please see booking data below:

Upon arriving at Dollar in JFK to collect our vehicle, fresh from travelling from the UK we were greeted by an extremely dismissive and unwelcoming member of your team. There was no formal greeting and was simply asked for my licence and card. She then continued to speak to her colleague next to her without any real acknowledgement of ourselves. This immediately felt like we were not important to Dollar and our custom was an inconvenience.

We were then bombarded with a barrage of requests around insurance and liability and taxes in an incredibly fast manner that it was hard to understand. However I was aware through our original booking that we would need to arrange insurance at collection. I stated third party as most appropriate. We were then told we should pay for a toll fee (even though we were heading to Montauk and our journeys would not include Tolls) and sat nav for car. I advised we would not need neither.

We were then given a RR document and told to head to booth to collect car. At this point her conversation continued and there was no pleasantries or thanks.

We then headed over to collect the car. At this point we handed over document and the gentleman hardly looked at RR document and just asked me what vehicle it is, I stated SUV Standard (as per booking), he said "you can take any car from 26-28" So we then had three vehicles to select from, not knowing too much about product features and benefits we chose the one in the middle. Upon entering the vehicle we noticed a strong sense of smoke from cigarettes. However the vehicle seems otherwise ok. We drove towards exit where we were required to present our RR document.

The gentleman took the document and for 5 minutes we awaited our exit, however he then returned to say "you cannot have this vehicle" He then left us at the exit for some time only to return in another vehicle. He asked us to leave the original vehicle and get into new one. He then handed another RR document. This second vehicle seemed more dated than our first choice and (upon later inspection) it had previous user litter in glove compartment.

As we were now being told to leave and enter the busy rush hour roads around JFK it was imperative that I maintained full concentration as driving an unfamiliar vehicle on unfamiliar roads.

I then noted that the latest RR document had some very confusing and contradictory information. Firstly the second RR was at a Higher Cost (375.16 against previous 361.09)

When making this booking it was clearly stated taxes were included, however RR states these were added.

The insurance I chose (third Party) was at a higher rate on the second RR ( $15 per day as previous was $12) in total for the entire duration we had the following figures:

2nd RR - $131.80
1st RR - $120.80

We then saw that taxes/service charges we as follows:

2nd RR - $94.18
1st RR - $92.11

As a result following the vehicle change forced into us at the exit, we had a higher quote! Plus this was a vehicle that seemed from the outset to be less appealing for our holiday.

In total we were given an estimated charge of 375.16 for the second vehicle against our original choice of vehicle of 361.09.

Most importantly though, we committed to a rental that included all taxes/fees and we chose an insurance quoted at front desk that was vastly different when shown on RR agreement.

In conclusion, we experienced very poor customer service, a last minute vehicle change prior to entering busy JFK roads, an increase in cost for in my opinion an inferior vehicle. Most importantly we have been charged amounts above and beyond our original agreement. When booked prior to arrival.

We chose Dollar for a reason, we have used you before in Las Vegas and Orlando and received great service and up to this experience we would of chosen you again as we frequent the US on an annual basis where possible. However this experience has left me with a very sour taste.

I would appreciate a prompt response in terms of how you can assist me with the above issues so that our future custom can continue.

Dollar Rent A Car car rental overcharges

This is my ongoing story of their counter staff falsely informing me of ‘mandatory policies' That I must agree to pay for or else I won't get my vacation car.

I have been asked to send you a private message to discuss my complaint. I emailed full details of my complaint in but nobody was interested in dealing with it.
I came over on vacation from the UK, and clearly made it obvious that I was a UK citizen, I was quoted a price that I was told didn't need anything else adding to it. Then when I got to the counter a very forceful woman told me that I must purchase additional insurances and that I wasn't eligible for the price I was quoted and charged more than double what was remaining on the loan. I questioned it at the time but was told that my price was only valid for US citizens and not for overseas visitors. I feel as though I have been robbed, and sold a false story of what I could have. Had I realised that this was how you operated your business, then I would have used another company. I've only chosen to use Facebook to complain as you have ignored m for a week now through usual channels

I also have pay by plate tolls to settle from my return to the airport as there was no other way to get there other than on the toll road, and I can't access information on how to pay them fl fore you add even more charges. I didn't buy your service as I only needed it for the last hour of my holiday and didn't want to be charged for 16 days just for that small section of my trip
Hello Damon. I sincerely regret any misunderstanding. After reviewing your concerns, I can confirm the daily rate quoted did not change. However, the service for Liability Insurance Supplement is optional and was accepted on your rental agreement. The charged billed are correct and no refund is warranted. -Ross
I am not happy with your explanation. The liability insurance was not optional as your staff member told me that it was mandatory that I take it as I was not allowed to take the vehicle without it as I was from the UK. She also said that I had to sign the documents to accept the charge or I could not have the car. She also tried afterwards to pressure me into paying even more for the fully comprehensive policy for yet another $600, the charge is not correct as I was given no choice but to take that policy, and you have now confirmed that the woman behind the counter blatantly lied about it to me to make me pay extra. I can only assume that she gets bonuses for all the extra charges they sell. The process is disgusting and this response from you just goes to show how that the issue is systemic throughout your organisation. Your delays look like another excuse to not own up to the shady practices that your company operates. If you are not willing to give me back the forced sold charged then I have no choice but to make this situation public so that no others suffer this level of deceit and theft of their highly valued "Dollars"

No I do not understand or accept your position. You are basically calling me a liar, to suggest that the conversation did not take place and that the signature that I was told I had no choice but to sign by your staff member or else I would not get the car whilst my wife and 2 small daughters waited with all our vacation luggage is the only method of verifying what took place. Your standpoint allows your staff free reign to rip off all customers for as much as they choose to with no risk of repercussion as you will always side with them with the standpoint that the signature confirms they behaved appropriately and not in the deceitful and underhand manner I which they do in fact operate. I am truly disgusted that in a country which prides itself on customer service you allow such practices to take place freely and with the full support of the organisation. I will pursue this to whoever I need to to ensure this practice is exposed and your staff acknowledged as the deceitful people they are, and your organisations happy support and encouragement by way of commissions of their behaviour"

This is ongoing as all they do is ignore what I say, then make me wait at least 24 hours for a response regardless of how quickly intent to them

now I find out that despite my asking you numerous times about paying the damn tolls before you rip me offf even more for that too, you've ignored every single request for that information and now taken another £35 from me for a $6 toll!
When will you stop taking my money, and which authority governs your activities?, clearly you are all working there to delay my complaints long enough to take all my money. I demand to speak with a senior manager and I also demand to know which authority regulates your activities so that I can raise a formal complaint about your entire organisation with them also. I cannot express how enraged I am with you all right now, you are all utter thieves and I am sickened by your activities. You have absolutely no shame or morals!'

Dollar Rent A Car car rental

This was my very first time renting from Dollar and it will be last, unless someone can right this situation. I rented a full size vehicle on 08/30/19-09/03/19 to travel out of town. I picked the car up on 08/30/19 before I went in to work. For starters, the person got there late (about 8:20) and I was already running late for work. Once she finally got there, she didn't know what vehicles they had available so I had to wait another 20 minutes for her to go outside and see what was available. She came back and brought the key for a Chevy Malibu. Besides her being late and them having me wait, the process of renting the car was pretty good. I drive the car to work as I planned to leave after work and head out of town. I get off work and drive home. On the way home, the car started driving really funny as if it had a misfire or as if there was some mechanical issue. I checked to make sure that car was not in eco mode or something as I know this can affect how a car drives. This car didn't even have the option for eco mode. I get home and call the 800 number on the agreement. The first time I called, I got hung up on. I'm not sure if it was intentional or if there was some type of technical glitch. So, I call back and I explain my situation to the agent on the phone. She advises me that she has to transfer me to the local branch where I rented the vehicle. When she transfers me, a lady answers the phone. I start to explain my situation. She told me that they didn't have any other vehicles available except compact cars. I explain to her that this was a family trip and that I need something a little bigger. I do understand that this was a holiday weekend and availability was limited. I proceed to ask what actual vehicles are available. She names a few cars and then says "well, you will just have to come see what we have available". I said ok. I then asked her that since I'm having to downgrade a vehicle, would that lower the rate. Before I could finish, she cuts me off and says, in a very rude tone, "just because you go to a smaller car doesn't mean we change the rate. Again, you will have to come see what we have available". I just said "ok" and we ended the conversation. During the whole time we were on the call, she was talking to another customer who was apparently standing at the desk. I leave and head to the location to see what they have. When I arrive, I spoke with a guy and none of what they told me was available over the phone was available in person. I asked if they had rented out some cars since I had called about 20 minutes prior. The guy assured me no they didn't. Based off the list of cars the agent told me about over the phone, I was going to take the largest compact they had. However, that seemed to change once I arrived. I reiterated to the agent at the desk that I felt like the car they rented me was having mechanical issues. His response was "well, if it breaks down, call roadside and they will handle it...maybe direct you to the nearest location". At this point, I could see that this was a losing battle so I just left and took a chance on driving the car out of town. I had already booked a hotel and couldn't risk losing out. The entire way, the car acted funny. It got even worse. It wouldn't accelerate and I was literally afraid to pull out in traffic. It was a huge inconvenience. Once I arrived at my destination, I had to uber everywhere because I just felt the car was not safe. I'm very disappointed at the service I received. If this is not resolved, I will not rent from Dollar anymore and I will advise those I know to do the same.

Dollar Rent A Car charge for fuel

ORLANDO FIOR 14 NIGHTS FROM 8TH JULY 2019

WE collected the car and drove away quite happily. However when we dropped car back at Orlando airport on 22nd July we were told that we should have returned the car full of fuel. However when we picked up the car on the 08th July the fuel tank was not even half full. At the time, feeling very tired after the flight, we did not pick up on the fact that the Dollar Rep at the airport had completed the form to say that the fuel tank was full. It really was not full.
As we did not have the time to go and fill up with fuel I then had to pay a staggering $78.00 for fuel. This is terrible and not atall fair, it is such an inflated amount. I wouldn't have minded paying for the fuel but
1. The car was not full when we picked it up and
2. It cost us about $25 to fill the car up NOT $78 for half a tank.
I would like you to look into this and I would like a refund of $78.00.
I am a travel agent in the UK and we sell car hire regularly. however I do not feel that I will be recommending Dollar unless this refund is applied and then my faith restored. I do not feel that I have been treated fairly.

Me an my family's rent a car Chevrolet suv plate number 10 of agust the day me and my family have the fly back to aruba 11am with America airlines we arive 8am at miami international dolar car return we was in a hurry to the airline check in almos to take the plain my son note that he dont have he jbl speake he left the speaker onder the seat at the he was having the speaker on the way to the airport i tel hem to hold good one of the bag he say he but the speaker nex to hes feet an my wife lef also she flip flop birkunstock in the front of the car she said she achange the flip flop to the shoos i now thad 2 item was left in the car i make the sheet at the lost and found and the answer is noting was founded for me is to think is this company of dollars car rentals is not serious an you have people working for you that steel people personail itemps inpleas one a solutions for this i dont one to share bad impressed of this company

Dollar Rent A Car picking up a car

First time using rental cars.com. Ref# [protected]: landed on time in Richmond, Va., with paperwork to pickup my car at Dollar counter in the main terminal at 8 p.m. No one was there and no sign was posted directing to another location. An attendant for another company told me to go to Hertz counter in the parking garage. There I found a man trying to handle too many Dollar rental customers. When finally got my chance I gave him last name but his info had nothing noting my prepayment. He was asking for my credit card for a $200 deposit for the car, but he still could not tell me if the price on my paperwork would be what I would be charged. Obviously this guy had not been informed. This made me nervous so I told him I wanted to cancel reservation. I am used to renting from Enterprise where every thing is always above board and all charges appear in writing and attendants can answer questions. I went to Alamo/enterprise counter for relief and a car. I also called Priceline to complain and make sure reservation was cancelled. I see now on my charge card statement that $84.15 was charged on July 31 and another $48 on July 30. What was this for? My paperwork said I would be charged $84.15 and tax fees $28.55. This is my third attempt to submit this complaint. On Aug. 2 I arrived as booked by 8 p.m. to pick up a car #[protected] having used rental cars.com for the first time. I had a copy of the promised price. First problem was arriving at the Dollar counter in the terminal and finding it not staffed. After walking around searching for someone an Avis attendant suggested I go to the Hertz counter in the garage. I found one gentleman in a Dollar booth trying to help 4 people. When I finally got to the window there was no reference to my prices, nor reference that I had already been charged $84.15 on July 30 and $48 on july 31 . He couldn't confirm that my reservation was this pricing, also taxes and fees would be the 28.55 showing on my reservation papers. I panicked and asked to cancel the reservation. I found a Enterprice counter which conducts rentals upfront with pricing clearly noted on paperwork. Dollar Rent A Car services provided

Long story short, our windshield was broken 9hrs away from the pickup location. I called my insurance and filed the claim, I then called dollar customer service. I was hung up on and passed around for literally hours. Then I was told that the vehicle needed to be towed back to Jax, Florida from Tennessee and that I would need to take "Public Transportation" to the closest dollar for an exchange. The closest office was 2 HOURS AWAY! I have since had multiple charges posted to my account and no one I talk to can give me a reason why. They just tell me they will fall off in 15-30 days! One charge was for $245 the day after it was returned and two more charges this morning, one for $45 (which the woman insisted she credit back) and one for $73. I was told that will fall off too. I loathe this company with the fire of 1000 suns! They almost ruined our family vacation and I would rather be raped, murdered and left in a ditch than EVER use your company. I have written reviews anywhere I can, including BBB, google, booking.com, yelp, and dollar. I've rented several cars from enterprise and I will ALWAYS go back to them. Anyone not affiliated with you!

Dollar Rent A Car under age car rental

My daughter rented a car from dollar and paid $109 for a 2 day rental. She is 24 so we thought this was a good deal. I was sitting right next to her when she was talking on the phone to the rep. The rep told her if she pays the $109 in advance the young fee would be waved. My daughter completed the rental process, paid the $109 and felt she got a good deal. However, here is where the trouble starts. She attempts to pick up the car and the rep says she needs to pay $70 more for the underage fee. She attempts to cancel the reservation...nope already paid. He told her to call customer service. She had done that twice while renting and got the underage fee waived. Bad experience! She paid the fee and got the car. In reading many other complaints Dollar rental has done this before. Social media is a great advertiser for and against companies. How will this be resolved?

arrendé auto con dollar en minneápolis y otro ahora en miami. En minneápolis le pregunté en tres oportunidades a la persona que me atendió si debía regresar el auto con el estanque lleno. Me respondió que sí, por tanto, así lo hice. Al llegar a miami, le pregunté a la persona que me atendió por qué en minneápolis me hicieron un cargo por 50 dólares. Quien me atendió en miami, fue tan gentil, que supo explicarme que yo no debía devolver el auto con combustible, sino vacío. El problema es que lo devolví lleno y dollar me descontó a pesar de que el auto tenía el estanque lleno de bencina. Reconozco que no leí el contrato sino hasta llegar a miami y fue ahí donde me enteré que me descontaron el cargo por el estanque de bencina, a pesar de que lo regresé lleno. Por tanto, como cliente que soy de dollar, solicito se me reverse a mi tarjeta de crédito el cargo por la bencina, ya que lo devolví con el estanque lleno, tal como me dijo la persona que me atendió. Yo no hablo inglés y creo que no entendí o me respondió erróneamente.

Dollar Rent A Car customer service/ ez pass

I rented a car from LaGuardia, New York June 4 I was told I HAD to purchase the ez pass since I was driving to Canada. I asked if it was necessary and was told yes the car has them installed. So I paid the 80 something for it and left. Hit the first toll and it didnt work. I called and they were closed I emailed and took 5 days to hear back. When I returned the car in Buffalo on the 7th I examined how we were stopped at the border and had to pay cuz the ez pass didnt work. And secondly there was a pay as you go option the "lady's helping us in laguardia failed to mention. Now I have Bill's with admin fees for not paying the toll before hand. Yet the ez pass didnt work so how is that my fault! I have called multiple numbers emailed and sat on hold for 30 mins for everyone to claim that csnt help me yet they have no problem charging me! Someone needs to contact me to make it right!

To top it off I was just on hold and finally got someone on the phone for them again to telk me they cant help me. They got a supervisor on the phone and he kept trying to talk over for I made a noise gesture to say let me finish talking he said oh uh uh and hung up on me! Dollar Rent A Car unethical behavior

7/13/19 - Rental Agreement Number [protected]

I reserved a car through Dollar at Logan Airport. They wanted to charge me $10/day for a toll transponder. I'm thinking if I hit a toll I'll pay cash instead. They didn't explain that Massachusetts no longer has toll booths; everything is electronic. 3 weeks later I get several bills from 'dollarrentalfine.com'. The toll amount on one is $7.50! Dollar's admin fee? $45.00! Another toll is $15.00/Dollar admin fee is $105. I don't mind paying the toll plus a reasonable fee but this is pure gouging! I would like the admin fees reduced to something more reasonable.

Dollar Rent A Car car hire ohare airport chicago

I returned car late to airport due to getting lost and traffic jams. i was never told about an extra days charge to my credit card I find a charge of $49.56 excessive. also there was no information given to me I found out when checking my statements. Also we were sent to the wrong terminal by your staff and then had a long queue and further long overcrowded bus ride to the correct terminal this caused us a great deal of stress and inconvenience.

Dollar Rent A Car car hire

8th June to 14th June

Our car on collection was extremely dirty. We drove to out accommodation and the next day realised there were two large ants nests in the car seats. This would not have been able to be missed if the car had been cleaned. We called Dollar who did not care and simply said we could return and swap the car at the airport. As we were only staying 6 days we did not have time for this. They refused to replace the car at our location or allow us to swap it in Orlando.

We purchased a $10 ant treatment and had to deal with the smell and lots of dead ants. It was a really poor service and my young daughter was distraught every time we went in the car.
We have had no response to our complaints to the company or compensation.

Dollar Rent A Car employee stealing item left in car

I dropped off my rental May 20. Immediately after We left in the shuttle, I realized I left my coat in the car. We didn't have time to go back, but the shuttle driver said they would mail it to me. I waited 10 days. Nothing. I went to the Lost and Found and filed online. They told me nothing had been turned in. Really?
It was a $200.00 North Face and could only have been taken by an employee.

Dollar Rent A Car car maintenance

On May 2 2019 I rented a car from dollar at Norfolk airport, a little before midnight. Upon receiving the car, we noticed low air pressure. I thought when we went thru check, we would get it resolved, since I was traveling with my daughter and grandchild. There was no check out ! Just straight out the lot, I would have had to turn around and go back into the airport. So I thought ok I'll just get air myself. We stopped got air the 1 tire had 10lbs the other 3 were at 14 lbs? How can this happen when just beginning your trip? We drove to our hotel which was in Va beach. The next morning the check air was again on, so we got air again, this repeated itself a total of 4 times, we only put 70 miles on it total during the rental, which was mostly to the airport and back. Sure enough Monday May 6th we had a blow out on the highway BTW the air cost me 1.50 each time. The biggest problem comes when I contact your customer service and was told that all additional expenses would be mine. They could not provide me approx cost or an approximate time to have repaired . I was told that I should have driven back to dollar the following day. Seriously I was in town for an event, was not even possible considering my time restraints! So with a flight that looked like I was going to miss, I called an Uber to get my daughter and granddaughter to the airport . An additional $22.00 dollars . I called my own road service and they came promptly and had me on the way to the airport on my little emerg spare. They even followed me to the airport ! What great customer service they had! Arriving at rental center I was beyond mad and stressed but had no time but to get to my flight, the girl wanted me to fill out a report ohhhh hmmm no so she had me sign I blank form and said she would . Which I know is setting myself up with another battle, but no choice I reluctantly signed and took photo of my signature on blank form. Which BTW my road service did not see any visible puncture to the tire obviously bad maintenance on dollars side. I simply want to know how you can rental a car and not know there is a tire issue, being that light came on upon starting the car ?
