Dollar General review: trespass

I was shopping it was cold I had a hoodie on I picked up a pack of socks and took the tag off put the tag with my other items and put the socks in my shirt pouche, she scanned the tag and I was counting change when the man behind me said I have it, handed her his credit card and said add a pack of Marlboro lights too I'm in a hurry I took my receipt and left a hour or so the police show up and served me with trespass I said but I didn't steal anything the police officer said I know that's why you aren't going to jail. How can I make this all go away?
