Dollar General Store not stocked and/or dirty.

I live in rural south central Pennsylvania and I have seven or eight Dollar Generals within 35 miles of my house. I love them! But I like one store in particular and have been using it (closest to my rural home) for many years. Right after Christmas (three days, no more) I noticed that the store was rather disheveled and dirty. And it didn't get any better by the end of February. Often shelves are bare - and this has nothing to do with the current virus-fueled problems. The floors are always dirty with trash around. I commented on this to one of the staff (the people that work there are really great and always helpful) and they said that right after Christmas their hours had been cut and they were lucky to even have time to unload the trucks, much less stock and clean. I was kind of shocked when it was obvious that they really needed more hours (and WANT THEM) and more people. I know it's tough to work retail and have every empathy for retail workers. But, honestly, this is a situation where more personnel and more hours would be the solution. And it's so simple - they really WANT to work. It is quite an economically depressed area (Bedford County) and people are happy to have jobs. I'd even work there, but, wow, they aren't hiring. The store is the only one in Hyndman, PA, address listed on your locator site as 4064 Center Street, Hyndman, PA 15545. I even know and like the manager, so I don't understand why there aren't more people working there and more hours for those that do. Thanks for listening! You stated the product was expired.. this is the year 2020.. and you stated the expiration date was 2021? that is a year and 5 months BEFORE it expires.. FYI.

Dollar General The store

This store is the worst chaotic place I have tried to shop at. I have been there several times especially at Holidays, the aisles are full of boxes some you cannot go down. The products on the shelves are always close to empty and disarray. Most of the time the cashier is not available. The store itself is filthy. The Manager is either out front smoking or in the office. I have tried several times to go with my mother who is crazy about this store but cannot get through the aisles. There is a dollar tree within a quarter mile which is immaculate, the people are well trained and very customer related. This store is very mismanaged and I don't foresee a future of it sticking around. The cashiers are often rude and short with customers. It is not a one time visit I assure you. I have pictures from the holidays thru today March 13, 2020. There is another general dollar about 8 miles down on same road and is always stocked and cashiers do their job well. The sucess of any business starts with your customer and the relation ship with your store and employees. I will not be returning there. I was so insulted at the treatment of the store and myself. I by the way was a Manager of 30 people for many years have many awards and letters of my customer service and how well my employees were towards their customers. Most of my employees are 10 or more year veterans.

Add on: That store has cases of paper towels and toilet paper sitting on racks with shelves empty and with the current covid 19 strain people are trying to find these products everywhere. The stores around are out of stock. This store has stock but unavailable because of that they are still in boxes.

Dollar General Emotional distress

I was hired at Dollar General in 2011 as a part time cashier. I worked my way up to store manager. I've never had any write up or disciplinary action for anything. Never been late to work or closed the store early. I've been with the company for 9 years. March 2020 made 3 years as a store manager. In February 2020 my ASM was caught leaving the sages wide open with customers in the store and closing the store early. I confronted her about it and she called cooperate behind my back and started a bunch of rumors about me and another associate of mine having a relationship. ASM was transferred to another store as she stated she was working in a hostile environment. All lies. Dm came in and told me about ASM calling corporate and that an investigation was started. She informed me that said employee would more than likely have to transfer but she would let me know as soon as she found out. The next time she came in, she fired me. She never even spoke to said employee. No letter of termination or phone interview with he. Just her word that I was terminated. While waiting to hear back from my dm after her initial claim, I was contacted by two dollar General employees, one of which is a store manager, and told That the DM has been spreading rumors and telling personal information obtained in an internal investigation to other employees. This has caused me much embarrassment and emotional distress. It's just as much against code of conduct as what I have been accused of.

Dollar General service / employee

I was checking out yesterday around 4:30 - 5:00 and intered the wrong pin 3 times (accidentally entering same one twice) and the woman asked me if I was using someone else's card. I told her no I had just recently got the card it was only second time using it . She then decided she wanted to be rude mouthed, hateful and have attitude with me. N when I put down the $1.10 the dime bounced up n she asked if I wanted to be banned.. I didn't appreciate her behavior at all! And to accuse me for card fraud is absolutely uncalled for! I will not have her to check me out again. I will either wait for another employee or I will not be spending our money there. I will go to a different store even if I have to drive two towns over.

Dollar General the entire store

After several years of trying to overlook the madness, I've finally had enough. The store smells like [censored] and there is NEVER anything put away. If you want anything in that store you have to dig for it and or move carts out of the way. We are a small community and are very grateful for this convenience, however, it's worth the drive to go to a different location. I understand that stores get busy... but this has gone on for years and it only continues to get worse.

Dollar General Condition of the store

It saddens me to see the store I once worked in many years ago in such horrific shape. It's truly disgusting. This is the very store that I managed and poured myself into. Lots of hard work, sweat, and even tears. I did so for 3 years and won awards for top sales, reduced shrink, and most recovered. Back then it was hard, and I still see the struggle today with cut payroll hours and less people in store to assist, clean, stock, etc. We had hourly recovery, accident prevention, customer service in the forefront of our minds ( and yes sales being top priority). I was proud of my store, and my customers noticed. It made them proud to shop there. I can tell you I have stopped shopping both of the DG's near me, because of the absolute filth. Most dig stores are cleaner! What a shame! My daughter recently purchased a home in Mt. Pleasant. (I have not been in this store for years. When people seen me that knew I had worked there, they would tell me had bad it had gotten again. I couldn't stand the idea of seeing it in that shape again after the work and sacrifice it took to get it out of that shape before. ) I had to pick up a few cleaning supplies. Unfortunately, this was the closet location. It will be worth the drive to elsewhere next time. The shelves nearly empty and the condition of the store was HEARTBREAKING! The store is intolerable and it angers me that this company doesn't show more respect for the community it is supposed to serve. Our communities deserve better! Please take notice and please clean up your stores. We deserve better! Your goal (even back when I was an employee) was to have a store every 10 mins or so. You are reaching your goal, but at what cost to the consumer and community in which you build? What kind of customer are you trying to attract? What will your success look like it your brand only becomes known as filth?

I have recently noticed this with several local stores. They are disheveled and dirty with bare shelves. I'm not talking about during this virus thing either. This has been the last six months or so. When I asked an associate (and there are only four that I know about) at the store I most frequent, they told me that their hours had been cut. The solution is simple (more hours, more people) but corporate isn't policing this. How can they? They've grown so rapidly there's no way to keep up. I guess the fat-cats at the top that make all the money from the thousands of stores are fine with things. But it really sucks. I used to love the store closest to my house (rural PA) but don't even like to go there anymore as it is always out of sorts, and usually only two people manning the place. Maybe it will all catch up and be nice again. But it's hard to see. I feel you! jh

Dollar General Store worker

Today February 27th at around 2:20 pm I entered your store at the same time as an elderly man on a cane. There was one buggy up front and before I could take 5 steps in the store I saw that the store had 6 buggies filled with store items . The elderly man ask if they had anymore and the clerk never looked up and said I don't know. I told the man apparently the clerk could are less if you have a buggy or not. I will finish the buggy story in a moment.
As I stood in the store I looked to my right (cashier is to the left and front door is about 10 steps ). I watched two women stuffng their totes full of products that they were taking our of their buggy. I said as loud as I could " two women are stealing" the clerk looked at me along with about 5 people standing in line and the clerk said " It will be alright." I stood there as he was saying this and the two women walked just as slowly out the front door. So I ask him if I could steal mine since it was okay. He replied if you want too.
When I got up to the register to check out, I ask him again if mine was free and he said " I don't chase anyone they can do what they want." I said " you never even looked at them or even told them to stop much less chase them"
Back to the buggy situation, I proceed to go get the buggy the two thieves were emptying out and gave this man the buggy.

Thank You

Dollar General Rude customer service Store#14550

My daughter and I went to the store #14550 on 2/21/20. Seeing that there wasnt a cart available to use, I took a 24pk of bottled water to the front to see if I could leave it there while I did more shopping. I started to ask a woman who was emptying black totes, if I could leave it there on a checkout counter that wasnt being used, and she interupted me saying loudly "Im not working right now"! That flew all over me! I said fine, I'm leaving this here even if its not ok, and bought 1 more item (I had planned to buy more things but I was mad and wanted to leave), and told my daughter so that the employee could hear...how rude to speak to people and if she isnt working today, why would she even be in the store! The customer in line ahead of me gave me her cart so I wouldnt have to hold the heavy water bottles, and said she would be my customer service. I wanted to tell that employee, that right there is the reason you dont get paid $15 an hour! Then shes blocking my way as I try to leave with another stack of totes, loading shelves at the checkout! I will not be back to that store ever again. I dont usually get that steamed, but this really got to me! I am kicking myself for not getting her name. I work for the state and I've never talked to anyone who walked into my office like that!

Dollar General Management

The store is in disarray. There was 2 small children running around the store and going behind the register. The small boy nearly knocked me over when he ran around a corner. I put my items on counter at register and the boy ran to the woman behind counter. Calling her mama. Come to find out she is the manager of the store... She has been unfriendly and outright rude to me and my husband in the past and she was equally as rude at this encounter. It is unsafe and unprofessional to behave this way. Especially as a manager. We come here every year and my husband & I used to shop there a lot. Now we choose to spend more or drive farther to avoid this place of business.

Hi, Karen, how are you doing today? Let me explain a little something to you since you seem to possibly be retarded. An item is the price it is in the system. Regardless of where you find it. Customers come in the store ALL the time and put crap wherever they want. If we honored the price of the label where you found it (did you bother reading the label? No. You people never do), we'd lose a TON of money. Trying to get $4.50 off an item because some [censored] put it in the wrong place is theft. Plain and simple.

Dollar General service

I shop at dollar general on average three times a week. (not anymore) I go into the store where there is a line of about 30 customers waiting at one register and I asked the man if they could open another register and he responded with - no one here to run the other register. Left and went to another store (dollar tree) and had no problem getting waited on.. The next day on 02/16/2020 went back to the store and it was the same as the previous day. After reading all the complaints about you business I am surprised that you are still in business. I know now nothing will be done about any complaints therefore I will no longer shop at dollar general. You should be ashamed of yourselves to allow this to go on.

Here's an idea, [censored]. How about all of you idiots they complain about the lines stop coming to the store at the EXACT SAME TIME every day. These stores receive pennies for payroll. Managers can't afford to pay to have two cashiers standing at the register to greet you hordes of [censored]s that absolutely have to buy your [censored] at the exact damn same time. How about you be an adult and understand this thing called PATIENCE.

Dollar General truck

I was driving east bound on State Route 22 in Ebensburg, PA on Friday, Februrary 14, 2020 at 8:32am (according to the time stamp on the picture I took of this truck driving). A Dollar General truck was swerving into the middle of the road, b/c he was driving in the passing lane and didn't want anyone to pass him. He was throwing cinders from the road onto all the vehicles around him and every time someone went to try and go around him, he would get into the middle of the road making it unsafe and unpassable to go around him. This driver needs to be held accountable for his actions. I could not get the license plate number b/c it was covered in snow, but the number on the back of the truck was "F5030". Please see the attached pic.

I can be reached at [protected] for further details.
