Dollar General wages

I work for Dollar General and fairly new. My first week there I worked 41.5 hours. Every time I clock in or out I receive this slip of paper with what time I clocked in/out and on the bottom it states that if you work and have not been paid for hours worked to call ERC and gives you this number. Well our Manager at the time knew she was about to quit and deleted days from employees to cover her not being at work when she was suppose to, well to make a long story short she deleted one of my days and I've been fighting to get paid for those hours ever since. I spoke with our temporary manager, the district manager, our new manager, and even called ERC and spoke with someone in Human Resources and also Payroll. I was told that I could not call myself that a manager had to call. Well, this is very upsetting because not only do I work hard for those 8.50 an hour but to not get paid is absurd. I was logged on to the system on that day, why can't they just review the tapes to see that I was at work and pay me. I missed out on the little overtime and it should not take this long to be compensated. I don't know what steps to take to get the money that is due to me.

I think we have the same story that exactly matches. I work so hard for 45 hours and they used to pay me 8.50 an hour. I have not received my payment until now. It's already been a month. I went to manager to complain. Manager told she can't see my hour on the computer. I can't believe that's true. 45 hour missing is too much for anyone. If manager is supposed to delete your hour and not pay you whatever you work where is the right place to complain. I also have proof. Everything single hour has been written on paper and clock out and clock in slip with me. I am very glad to hear your story. Right now they aren't giving me hours either like they used to give me in the beginning. They still haven't paid my hours.

Dollar General manager

i am writing to complain about the manager at the alto, texas, dollar general store. i heard that the manager is going back into the computer after the employees have put in their time and has "adjusted" their hours so her store would not be over budget. on top of that, the assistant manager, heather requena, has been called several times because the manager has not shown up for work to open the store, and is sometimes 2 hours late to work, leaving the employees that do show up on time sitting out in the parking lot waiting on her. she is not a good manager with these work ethics, and i think she should be replaced by heather requena as manager because heather has at least 2 years manager and assistant manager experience and does most of the work there anyway covering for the manager. the other employees at the store i am sure will confirm what i have told you about.
thank you for your time.

Dollar General inventory

Every week they put out sale ads, and every week they carry maybe 1 or 2 of that sale item. I believe they call that something like bait and switch. For example, every time they have cell phones on sale I have to take a bus miles to the store and im told they did not get any in the shipment. Dollar general also will not hand out rain checks on the sale items that never made it to the store. I do believe that this is a trick to get people into their stores, hoping that they buy other items. This practice has left me with a very bad taste in my mouth. I will never shop at dollar general again.

I agree you should call a head, especially since you seem to have(or claim to have) the same problem all the time. Also I doubt they have only one or two items in stock. Even if they have one or two items the sale item did make it to the store. You must be slow to not realize this, and to keep going back and wasting bus fair when this problem happens all the time. Yeah this is a trick to get people to the store, and if you won't go to Dollar General because of this trick perhaps you should stop shopping anywhere, because Kmart, Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, ect ect ect, all do the same.

Dollar General changed recipe or wrong packaging

I've been eating Clover Valley Roasted Vegetable Crackers for a long time now.In my opinion, they were the best crackers, by far, of any kind, that I'd ever eaten.I just opened a box to eat with some cheese, and as soon as I saw the crackers in the plastic, I knew something was either wrong or had changed. These crackers were a totally different color and upon opening, I could see no roasted vegetables .They had absolutely no flavor, to speak of, and were like a cheap Ritz cracker, not like the bold flavor of the crackers I'd been used to eating. They either started using miniscule amounts of roasted vegetables or there was a mistake at the factory and the wrong crackers were put into the wrong boxes.I'm hoping, but highly doubt, it's the latter.I've taken sleeves of these crackers with me to different places and everyone always said how good they were, and asked me what kind they were. They were shocked when I told them that they came from Dollar General, and even more shocked when I told them the price. Now, they have raised the price from $1.60 to $1.75, and lowered the quality.I'm going to call the number on the box to see what I can find out.If I get no satisfaction, I'll join other posters here and will never buy another Clover Valley product, of any type, ever again.Hit them where it hurts, right in the wallet.

Dollar General out of stock

Why isn't the store restocking or ordering new stock? For example for 2 months or more they've been OUT OF WATER. Of course the whole store isn't empty but there are ALOT of products their either not ordering new stock or not stocking shelves. is this store location going out of business or is there an issue with management? I really really Love this location and always hated going to other store way over on the other side of town but now I have no choice because every single time I went to the Store on Prince Royal dr. I only managed to get half or less of the things I needed. PLEASE RESOLVE THIS ISSUE! We (Residents on this side of town) want our Dollar Store back but FULLY STOCKED :) Thank you

Dollar General deffective pre paid phone

On Sept. 29, 2013 I purchased a Net 10 phone from Dollar General. Once I got home to activate the phone I stayed on the phone for an hour to be told that there was an error on the phone and they could not activate the phone. They gave me a referral number and said to call back in 24 hours. After the 24 hours I called back to be told the same thing. This time I was on the phone for 1 1/2 hours. I ask was there something wrong with the phone. They said yes. I ask about getting a refund. That said that if I purchased it online that they could do the refund but since I purchased in the store. I would have to go back the store. I went back to the Dollar General and spoke with the manager. She said that all sales were final on pre paid phone. There was not a notice near the phones stating that. I said what do I do from here. She said I would have to go thru the Net 10 company. I called the Dollar General corporate office. After a few days the general manager called to say that to go back to the store and the store manger would help me get the phone activated. I went back on Saturday, 10-13-13 to the store. The manager did the same thing I did to get the same results. She was told to call back in 24 hours with a referral number. So on today 10-15-13 I called back again to be told that there is nothing they can do. Again telling me to go back to the store I purchased it. This is crazy! Where is the customer service. You should not give your customer a run around. What happen to good customer service. I have since gone to another company to purchase a phone. I want my money back.. Advice to anyone purchasing a pre paid from the Dollar General.. DON"T! It is a rip off to the customers.

Dollar General assistant manager

I have a serious complaint about the assistant manager at the Girard, pa location. He smells so bad it makes me not even want to shop there. All the other employees are fabulous and very helpful but this one man who is very very rude smells intolerable. I saw him taking pictures of a scantily dressed female customer with his cell phone and I am apalled. Whenever he is working he is running into customers throwing boxes down and is extremely rude. Why does he still work there and why why why is he an assistant manager?

Dollar General wrongfull statement of seperation

I was a manager for dollar general. I fell in aug. of 2010 reported it following getting up off the floor from my clerk. They did not send my too the doctor so I took myself too my primary he told me to stay off my feet and alterate hot and cold on my back to reduce the swelling.By oct. I got so bad I begged my dm. too take vacation which he kept putting off then I begged my regional on 10/10/10 to let me go vacation which was not ever answered. All this time myself and my staff where getting over a robbery where my asst. got shot and I did my best to hold this together for them and my customers. In novermber I was sent for nerve test after a doctor vist this test resulted in infections at all the spots he tested which made me go back to my primary for treatment. The test results said there was nothing wrong even though the assistant had to help me out of the office sit in my car till I felt save enough to drive. the following week I could hardly walk when I went to dollar doctor, so he sent me to therapy to help me to walk. after 6 weeks I was no better so he did a mri which showed that my tail bone was cracked and was on the nerve that ran down my leg the physician asst. showed me the picture. the next time I saw the doctor he said that was not true and sent me back to therapy. I would have too miss therapy because of the dm and lack of staff. It got so bad I fell again when for more therapy by the following april my therapist told me if I did not want to be in a wheel chair I needed to quit after all I was order to be on light duty with reduced hours, which never happen. So on april 11, 2011 I gave my 2 weeks notice I could only make it to april 28, 2011.Now I have been appling for jobs for the last 16 months dollar general has me listed as walking off the job what a joke I loved my job and I was very good at it until they threw me under the bus. I have used up all my savings and about to loose my house.

BEWARE: Dollar General stores love to hire racist store managers, incompetent district managers, mistreating & wrongfully firing good male employees, and keep employed inexperienced female supervisors! The worst Dollar General stores are in Augusta, GA. There is a very long history of mistreating good employees, racism, corruption, and job discrimination in Augusta/Richmond & Columbia Counties and especially at Dollar General stores! Dollar General - Taste like dishwater made us sick

I have never tasted something so disgusting ever! There is no way the soda could be intended to taste that way. I bought a twelve pack cracked one open and the smell of dishwater and musk was overwhelming. The can smelled as if it had been wiped down with a thirty day old dish towell. The taste matched the smell. I tried another can and it was the same. I...

Dollar General asst manager yelling at her clerks

This afternoon I went into the new store and there was this woman just yelling about everything I thought it was a mother yelling at her kids so I gave it no mind. But then this woman I noticed was yelling at one of the clerks who was stocking the shelves, she would follow her around the store yelling at her. So I asked the clerk who she was & she told me she was the asst. Manager named lisa. I guess she had 6 or 7 people today (7/21/2013) complain about her already, then she (Lisa) went in the office to call the manager (Chris) and she was so loud that you could hear her screaming at that woman too. Now if I was the manager I would have came in on my day off to take care the problem with lisa. As I was leaving the store lisa was standing around doing nothing & had a foul look on her face, seems to me you would want people who work in your store to look & act friendly? It is a very nice new store but she (Lisa) makes it unpleasant to want to shop there. Thank you mary bohmer

Dollar General cash purchase refused refund

I went to Dollar general this morning to purchase a prepaid card to help a person pay their electric bill, I chose to purchase a pay pal card, when I got home to activate the pre paid card I was told that I must fax them a copy of my SS card my photo ID and then the card would be activated, No this is a pre paid card I am not applying for a credit card so I took the card the receipt everything back to the store for a refund not 20 minutes after I purchased the card to be told I was not going to get my cash back they said they would call the company and get it fixed. well one hour later this assistant manager very very rude told me I had lied that the pay pal company does not ask to have such information sent to them (how rude) now where would I get the idea they wanted this information if I was not told I must send it (not happening I pre paid for this card with cash. So several hours later I called and I was told the card was fixed to call and activate it at 1:pm when I called they told me there was NO MONEY ON THE CARD AND THE CARD WAS VOIDED (now where is my money?) So I called customer service main offices for Dollar General asking to have a GM call me by 5:00 pm or I was going to call the police and file a complaint as no one would give me my cash back and they could not tell me where my money was.
I am at home waiting for the GM to call me back instead the sheriffs department calls and tells me they got a report that I had threatened to drive my car through the front door ( completely false) so I asked permission to speak told the officer that the thing that bothered me was I was out 260, 00 and no one would give me a refund or tell me where my cash was. I was told he would have someone call me and answer these questions that I have, no one has bothered to call me back and I am still out my $260.00 in cash so someone tell me should I call a lawyer? this is so complete bull and yes I am so mad I am seeing red!

Dollar General items priced incorrectly & rudeness of employees

This Dollar General Store along with the one in Hindman, Ky, has been horrible about placing items in the wrong place and allowing customers to think that they are one price & when you get to the register you find out the real price..this to me is false advertising & the customer should get it for the price tag that it was under. Also the staff is not friendly at either store ..and the stocking procedures are horrible...I am very disappointed and understand clearly why your company is always looking for good and strict Management...There is a way to behave to customers & being rude is not one of them..If I had the opportunity to become Management you would most definitely see changes and in a good way.

Dollar General rude manager on duty

This store I do not shop in anymore, and yesterday will be the last time I deal with the rude Manager on Duty. I have not personally dealt with her but I have witness the bad vibes in the store the last few times I have shopped there. I didn't have a lot of gas, and had to stop in to get milk and bread for my parents. Big mistake! As soon as I walked in, she was arguing with a customer in front of the store. Since they were so loud, I could hear her saying that she was lunch and would not answer the person's question. Then he got upset and said I will just take my business elsewhere, and she got really rude and said go ahead and get out of my store, don't have time for you anyways and walked out. I have told all my family and friends not to step foot in this store anymore, she is driving away customers and doesn't seem like the Manager or Higher ups are doing anything about it.

I am not sure what has changed over the past few months but till they fix this girls problem, my family/friends and I will be finding other Dollar general to shop at.

I went in dollar general to get drinks and arrived at the cash register to pay for my drinks and the cashier (allan) threw my change back at me. this event happened on 6/2/13 at 1;25p.m. This is not the first time something like this has happened. He treats me unfairly as a customer. He is really rude and disrespectful to me. He always has an attitude.

Dollar General mistreatment of employees

I was a recent employee of dollar general until this past april. been there over a year. Was under the impression the whole time of employment that part timers would receive a paid vacation. well, when dollar general posted their ###ic handbook online they added in information that they made last minute with stating that now part timers don't get paid vacations. after all the blood, sweat, tears, and bull that i have put up with, especially from a goofy district manager, i get ripped of something i worked hard for. had no choice but to quit since the store manager that i trusted didn't even care to help at all. definitely a boot licker there. a company that lies like this should be removed, but then alot of stores would be removed. the dm has even got the store manager treating the good employee that is still there like they are nothing. if the dm wants a crew gone he uses the store manager to get rid of them. for two months i was the temp sm there without any extra pay. gave up keys as a key holder, after words because the company so bad. after demotion of myself when manager came she lasted six months and then she quit because of dms bull. the dm is a crook and he can't handle his district at all. this store is in shambles. the sm is treating people bad plus losing their minds half the time and the three employees under her are getting treated like they are nothing, well one is right now and sm is having the other two go along with her to get the third person to quit just like they did with another lady before. so i think rick drielling needs to revamp his entire company and get rid of all the bad apples within and start with a fresh slate. but they can go belly up for all i care to. over a year i have broken my back for them getting their freight put up and i get shafted like this. may dg get swallowed up i hope

Thank you, chrisbcd. This was my first to ever put up a complaint like this. It's getting difficult to find companies out there are trustworthy and honest, even on their policies. It's always an at the last minute when I am told about something, then it's to late to do anything afterwords. And even though April was just last month it still stings when you get done in like that, even from people that told you that they could be trusted. Thanks for the advice chrisbcd.

You must be a manager I guess since you made that dumb remark. The just changed it this year! I have previous handbooks with no such thing about vacations, boyo!

Wow, it must be the company because I am in Pennsylvania recently hired was told I would receive 20 to 25 hours a week have only had 8 hrs so far and only paid for 2 and a half hours. The first day was computer work, they stuck me in the office which smelt really bad of smoke to the point it made me sick and then the Manager kept rushing me interrupting while I was listening and watching the course, I couldn't hear some of it because of the commotion in and out of the office. The Manage came in at one point saying she was so piste off because she needed to leave to go out of town for the weekend and I was still doing my work. She never spoke to me about schedules or when I would work next just told the assistant to send me on my way, which by the way I was done before she left. That was a Friday I went home received a phone call on Sunday to work Monday 11 to 4pm. On Monday they told me to count my draw which by the way I had never used the machine where you sit the coin tray on it and it counts it, so needed to be shown and the key holder who was in there with me was very nasty with me about it, then she stuck me on the register without showing me how their system works to fend for myself. No problem but things came up and I could not find anybody to help most of the time, the register kept acting up when people used their cards and the key holder came up at one point and argued with me telling me I wasn't doing it right to push F3 which I did 5 or more times before getting her help and she made me look stupid in front of the customers, several of the customers made comments to me about her attitude towards me. I worked as a store Assistant Manager for many years at another Dollar Store chain, I do not know the key holder or the manager from Adam but for some reason the key holder Jes does not like me and I heard her saying things about me when I was in shopping one day and one of the other employees told me she doesn't like me but doesn't know why. This is no reason to treat me so badly at work in front of people, I am 52 years old and have had to work with people that I may not care for but never treat them badly. This store is ext rely dirty in the bathroom there is no sink to wash your hands when you go to the bathroom which is really discussing, think about the germs they are putting on your items that you purchase. My hands were black and no way to wash. Somebody needs to really take notice of this store because it is a health hazard to work at and to shop at, the people are not friendly at all and that is not me. I am extremely friendly with my customers these girls don't talk to the customers unless they know them and then they ignore the customer they are waiting on and continue to talk to the person they know. I even ran out of bags and was never shown where I could get more to load it up for the next cashier coming in when I left. As an Assistant manager at my old job that was something that each cashier had to do clean up the area and have it prepared for the next person coming in to relieve you. I still have not been spoken too about breaks how long or when I am to get one. Like I said before I am 52 in ok shape but when it is a constant line of customers and you don't get a moment to breath or get at least a drink it takes a toll on you and I was very badly dehydrated at the end of my shift. I also was told to leave my draw in the register which I don't like I would rather count my own draw because whoever uses it could make it short and I would be blamed for it. They never told me the policy on that but the key holder is the one that said just leave it in there without counting it. Something is not right there, not rue who to contact but this is in Tyrone Pennsylvania. I am not sure of the store number because like I said I have not been there long or been scheduled on 8 hours. I really am thinking about not continuing there it is not worth the bad attitudes for minimum wage and only getting not even 15 hours a week. Sad Sad Sad!

Dollar General manager always on the phone

Every time I go in this store the manager is always outside on her cellphone or is on the work phone just chatting away, you try to talk to her and she ignores you and keeps talking on the phone. I know this is not acceptable.

Dollar General declined check

I was in there this morning to purchase some items and the system declined my check. The cashier ran it through several times with no luck. We are retired and rarely write checks. I ended up using a credit card. I called your number on the slip of paper to find out why I was declined. The message stated something about security reasons. It stated that it had nothing to do with my check writing skills. I immediately came home and checked our bank to verify that we had sufficient funds in our account. We have over $3, 000.00 in our account. Please fix this problem as it was very embarrassing.

Please respond ASAP!
Regards,
Cari Rowland

I also went to my local Dollar General today, 4/13/13, and my check to was declined. It is VERY VERY embarrassing! I also had sufficient funds in my checking account. I have lived in my town 3 years now, & I have NEVER had a check declined! The company needs to DEFINITELY remedy this embarrassing inconvenience! I was trying to write a check for $79, instead I only had $33 cash, they lost that extra in sales! They need to have it where the cashier has a way to manually put the info in, instead of depending on a computer!
VERY EMBARRASED & DISAPPOINTED
Consumer!

Cari; Things like that can and do happen like that, it could have been an issue with the check reader, they never clean them and 95 % of the staff I am sure don't know how. I wouldn't blame them, they should if anything typed the information in versus running it thru the register.

Dollar General emloyee treatment

Corporate expects WAY too much for the pay. Our public restroom is a nightmare. Feces all over the back of the toilet and we are expected to clean it up AND be happy about it! We are expected to mop up raw sewage every time some idiot puts ALOT of paper towels down the toilet! We are not doing it ever again! So our store manager won't get the precious bonus check from the customer connection score. TOO BAD! Why is it that the store manager is the only one that gets a bonus when everything is a team effort? Why don't they throw some scraps to the team once in a while? Do not work here unless you have exhausted every option of places to work!

This is waste water from the drain on the floor. It is not water overflowing over the top of the toilet, but coming up from the pipes that takes everything away and out of the building. It smells and has nasty ash looking stuff in it. I respect your 72 year old life experiences, but this is no comparison to your toilet in your home backing up.

Like I already said it was mopping raw sewage. Cleaning the toilet was not the big deal here. You must work for corporate ; wink wink :-)

Really? There are people that are trained to deal with these kinds of problems. I believe it is hazardous material. You know, the people that wear hazmat suites and, if needed masks for SAFETY reasons. You do not know what you are talking about! I am not talking about cleaning a toilet like you would at home. I am talking about filling two five callon buckets full of mopped up raw sewage and breathing it. It was in the aisles of the store, not just in the bathroom. It is not healthy to breathe raw sewage.

Don't be such a cry baby about it, yeah it sucks to do that type of stuff. Try locking the door so you have some control over it.

Amy, in the time you've spent complaining, you could have had the job done already. You should have done better in school and you wouldn't have to clean toilets.

Glad I could help.
