Dollar General dog shampoo

My name is Steven Johnson. I purchased a 3.00 dollar dog shampoo about 3 weeks ago at DG in Belmont Ms. I live in the country
And was on my way home passing thru
Burnsville Ms. Stopped by DG there . The shampoo did not work so I returned the unused portion and receipt and ask for a refund. The clerk refused a refund and said I would have to carry it back to Belmont Ms DG. I said that is not DG policy. She said I will call my manager and very quickly the police arrived I was shocked I said you called the POLICE? I Was humiliated to be retained and interrogated for over 1 hour for trying to return a 3.00 dollar bottle of dog shampoo.

If the police detained and interrogated you, then there must be more to the situation than you are sharing. Either way, most stores wouldn't accept a return to the wrong location for a partially used product.

You know when you return an item, that makes you the store and the manager the customer because they're buying from you. That means they can be equally as abrasive to you as you are to them legally. Grow up and get over it.

Dollar General on sale but sold out @ prospect rd-peoria, il

So I tried to buy the 12 ounce bag of McDonald's coffee that was on sale for $5.95 only to find out they were all out. I approached the "store manager" and asked about it and she preceded to argue with me and tell me that it was only for the K-cups. There were no tags under the planogram price for the on sale 12 ounce bag but the K-Cups had a sale price. So I was able to grab a DG flier and sure enough showed the store manager that in the print it was 12 ounce bag and they showed a pic of the bag in the ad. I did not get an apology or anything. I then preceded to ask about a rain check or a back-up item (replacement) and she said we don't do that, never have. I informed her that I have been working in customer service and retail for years, even working for CVS and for Dollar General to NOT go above and beyond for the customer is very disturbing. Usually if something is out of stock on a sale item, you can substitute or offer rain check. This store manager wasn't having it. I will not be back at the Prospect Rd in Peoria, IL location. I will be forwarding my complaint to either the district manager and/or Corp office.

Dollar General ads do say that the sales advertised are subject to change based on location, stock, etc. They aren't required to offer alternatives when the product runs out.

The manager is right. Dollar General doesn't do rain checks or substitute for sold out ad items. Should've shopped earlier.

Dollar General embarrassing customer service

On November 4, 2017 I entered the Pea Ridge Road, Eatonton, Georgia location # 17670 for some shopping. I've never had any issues of any kind at this store and it's wonderful that it was built here in the middle of farm land.
I gathered about 20 items and headed for check out. There was one woman at the cash register, Bernadette.
A woman and her two adult children was trying to check out. The purchase amount was approximately 4.50. Her card would not go through after several attempts. I stepped up and asked the cashier to clear it out and I'll put my card in for her. She did so and it didn't go through. I asked her to reset it again, all along conversing with the customer about whether or not she used her pin or credit. At the third attempt the transaction went through. I asked her adult daughter to step to the other side of me so I could unload my buggy while we were waiting for the transaction to complete.
By this time several people were in line, approximately 5 or 6 more. Everyone was pleasantly waiting watching us because it's not every day you see someone step up and buy someone's items for them when they are a stranger.
When I asked the young lady to step over so I could unload my buggy the cashier loudly stated I couldn't push her out of the way. I was startled and asked her what she was talking about?
'You can't jump in front of her!" she stated very loudly.
Everyone stopped and started staring at us. I asked the cashier if she understood what was taking place that I was helping the other customer by paying for her transaction. She did not respond back.
I told her she could just take a breath that no one was upset about the machine not working. She still didn't respond. She aggressively started scanning the items and throwing them in the bags. I asked her if she was ok and she still didn't answer.
I honestly do not remember what I asked her next maybe something like 'why are you not talking to me?' but I know she barked back something at me that caused me to respond with 'you don't have to talk to me like I'm an animal. I was being nice.' She yelled 'well you're acting like an animal!'
I was shocked and the entire line of people stood in shock with their mouths open.
I told her to stop. That I was done and she could put my items back. She continued to yell at me and I walked toward the door still listening to her. I turned and asked her what her name was? She grabbed her name tag and shoved it toward me yelling 'Bernadette, Bernadette!'
At this point I became very angry and for the first time in my life cussed at someone in a store. I told her she was being a [censor] and there was no reason for it. I have no idea what she was yelling back at me because I left the store. The mother and her adult kids were waiting for me outside stunned at what had just happened. This was completely unnecessary. She should have been grateful that I paid for her customer and stopped the embarrassment so she could wait on the rest of her customers.
The other staff members at this store are awesome and very friendly. This member however appears to be a ticking time bomb.

If you leave something at the store you can go back with your reciept, talk to a manager and they will more than likely verify on camera that you left them in the store then allow you to get the product or if they are out of it give you a refund.

Dollar General using coupons in your stores

I shop in your store several times a week. Today (Thursday 11/10/17) I was in store #15011 in Macclenny Florida on SR 121. I was buying Gain washing soap that was on sale. I had coupons for the items I was getting. Jennifer who was the cashier (very rude and nasty) told me I can only use 1 coupon per visit. It didn't say on the coupon 1 per person or per visit. I was also going to use the digital phone coupons. Jennifer totaled my items and then told me she couldn't use the digital coupons because she had already totaled the purchase. If I wanted to do so she would have to redo everything. I was already in the line for 20 minutes at this time just with her complaining about the coupons I had. These are manufacture coupons the store will get there money back for them. If this is the way they are going to do customer I will not shop in Dollar General again. And will make sure I tell everyone I know how they treat their customers. There is no reason for them to be so nasty and yell at me over a $2.00 coupons. I was also at store #01421 in Macclenny Florida on 6th Street and had no problems at all. If one store can and will take the coupons why don"t all of them? The only reason I went to the other store was because the 6th store didn't have everything I needed. But if this is the way your employees are going to be I will never shop at this store again.

As stated above all coupons state limits, especially Gain/Tide ect..and Paper Manufacturer coupons CANNOT be stacked with digital ones through the DG app.

Now granted the cashier could have hit CLEAR and let you put in your digitals then re totaled your order BUT it is curtious to tell your cashier that you have paper and digitals at the begining of your transactions. Not only does it help make the transaction smoother but as stated above many stores do have out of date equipment that are slow ect.

Sometimes policies can vary from location to location. If you still have your receipt and coupons, you could try calling the store to see if they'll still refund you.

Dollar General store manager

[protected]
Manager name is Bill

I was in the Dollar General in Oxford Ms on University Ave. In the store in 2-3 different locations they had a sign 4 for $10 on the 6 pack bottles of Dr Pepper etc. Above the sign they did not have the bottles, they had the cans in all 3 locations. I got the manager and showed him that I understood the sign but they had 12 packs advertising instead of the bottles so therefore I should be able to get the cans. It is not my fault that the wrong product was stocked. He began snatching the tags and started yelling I'm going to give this to you but not again and for me to get out. He told me its people like me that want something for free. I had money and have money. This was a racist comment and very unprofessional. I am going to continue to post this everywhere until something is done about that manager.

I wouldn't be as blunt, rude or direct as some of the other posts about this complaint. I would echo some of the same sentiment however. There's nothing wrong with asking a manager to honor a price on substituted merchandise, but I'd think it should be respectfully, understanding he/she has very little control over what a vendor stocks. As for the racism card, I see no reason for it. If there was an argument between the two of you, there is nothing that implies it has anything to do with race.

Dollar General employees and managers

While shopping at dollar general in Waverly on Sunday DJ had a package of 24 colored pencils in his hand that came open and spilled on the floor in a isle DJ who is having some issues with his hands set the box on the shelf to come get me for help in the meantime 2 female employees had seen the incident and the manager JOHN who was in the next isle came and started to pick them up and asked the female employee what happened and she said some adult dropped them and left you want me to go hunt his [censor] down and the manager says no I don't want any more confrontations today and laughed she then said well as and adult he sure was [censor]ed for leaving them and even if he was a child as my child I would whoop his [censor] and make him pick them up. Well I came around the corner of that isle and gave them an ear full. We called the regular female manager and got this well its not as bad as you are saying my employees all ready told me all about it. REALLY what the heck so employees can call someone [censor]ed and want to hunt their [censor] down and its ok? I am beyond pissed that employees can treat a customer who they have no ideal is handicapped or not and DJ is Mentally [censor]ed and has weak muscles its ok?

Dollar General driveway

Your store at the intersection of hwy 167 and 125 in coffee county al. Has a very dangerous driveway it cant be seen at night, hwy 167 is a very busy highway and someone is going to be hurt or killed looking for it. When a couple gallons of reflective paint to paint some strips around the outside edge could prevent this, this is not a complaint about the management or the employees the are all very helpful and friendly people, but about something that should have been taken care of from the beginning,

Dollar General cashiers has a bad attitude at the hayneville, al location

cashiers has a bad attitude, if they don't want to work they need to be at home. This location never has the items that are on sale in stock, also the store has junk all over the place. Too many young peoples that don't want to work are working their, you need to hire peoples that want to work and want a job. This store is always nasty and stuff is over the place, the cashiers get mad if you are using coupons, you can to any other Dollar General and they don't treat their customers they way the are treated the customers in the Hayneville, Al store. If we don't get friendly customer service in this store we are not going to shop their anymore.

Dollar General sale items not available

Whenever there is a sale on sodas, I try to get there earlier enough to get them. This particular store (3148) never has what the paper is selling. The cashier tells me that the truck would be in that afternoon. I think this is unacceptable because if your store has a sale and you open at 8 am, why would you not have ample supply for what is advertised in the paper?

Dollar General store operations

I am a cash customer. I do not often carry my debit card. There have be several occasions like this morning when I stop at DG in Tullahoma Tennesse to buy some snacks and lunch for my work day only to get to the cash register to have the clerk tell me that they can not make change for a $100 bill. This is RIDICULOUS! This is a store that operates with money. There is NO reason why a customer should not be able to make a purchase because there is not enough cash on hand to facilitate the transaction. I work with the public at a small distillery visitor center and even I have enough cash on hand to make change from a $100 bill at any point during store hours. I use DG for it's convenience. I am a regular customer. I am very unhappy with the level of customer service I get from your stores.

Dollar General service complaint

One of your stores located at 1555 S. Boeke Road Evansville, IN has a very rude employee. I was in the store today to purchase a few items. There was a cashier, young African -American lady was assisting me. A white lady, not even a manager, just an employee comes over to the young cashier, snatches the electronic device that registers the goods being purchased and proceeds to over ring the items I am purchasing. I mentioned that I think you may have registered too many items. She says no, I count in my head. I pay for the items, and received the receipt from the young cashier, who was very polite, but clearly was embarrassed by the way she was treated. I examined my receipt and I was in fact over charged. The meddling white lady rolled her eyes and said oh, ok. Hold on and walked away leaving me and the cashier looking at one another. The white lady comes back and says I can take you at the other register. I was refunded my funds for the over charged. I explained to her that the young lady was accurately registering my items, until you interfered, belittled her and took over. The white lady said the cashier rang too many, I only ranged up a few. She proceed to curse at me, so I cursed her back. That is not correct, she took over the process and didn't give the cashier the opportunity to finish. Not only did she rudely interrupt the check out process, in which the cashier didn't need any assistance, but she treated her very badly. I have seen this particular lady do this same very thing to other employees. This particular has a lot of employee turn over and I see why. I would like to file a formal complaint against the meddling white lady. I don't know her name, so I could only describe her by her gender and race. My apologies. I spend my money at a lot of different establishments. I don't have to be treated this way. If you need anyth8ng else, please feel free to contact me at...[protected]@sbcglobal.net.

Dollar General store cleanliness, cluttered, difficult to get around in, not to mention dangerous!

I was in the Ash Flat, Arkansas Dollar General on November 1, 2017. I understand that a delivery truck may have made a shipment that morning but that is no excuse for a store to be so cluttered and crowded with merchandise that customers cannot get around in the store. If you happen to use a shopping cart you might as well be prepared to leave it sitting at the end of an aisle if you need something on said aisle because there is no possible way you can get a shopping cart through. It is not like this just on shipment days. It is like this all the time. The aisles are so crowded with displays that if you brush by them they will fall over. But there is no other way around them. This is awful and dangerous. Someone is going to get seriously hurt someday. The cash register area is so stacked with items on display that a person only has a very small area to put their items on the counter. There is no reason for a store to be in this kind of condition. This looks bad on the store. I have heard so many complaints that all Dollar General stores are this way. I have been in several, as I do enjoy shopping at Dollar General and I have been in a few that I did enjoy shopping at. Plenty of room and no clutter, very neat, organized and clean. Not so at the Ash Flat, Arkansas store. I frequent this store often and it gets worse every time I shop there. The store manager seems to think that the Dollar General Corporation thinks that "her" store is wonderful. She is not a neat, clean, person. I don't mean to put anyone down in any way but she just always looks unkempt. They cannot keep employees there and every time I go shopping they are training a new employee because someone has quit. Maybe they are quitting because the manager and assistant manager are both rude and hard to work for. Maybe they don't like the fact that they have to work in such a cluttered and unorganized establishment. Until this issue is taken care of I will not be returning to any Dollar General store. This is a fairly small town and we also have a Wal-Mart and a new Dollar Tree recently opened so there are other options. I truly hope this issue can be resolved soon.

Dollar General customer service

I went to Dollar General located at 2137 Seneca st Buffalo Ny 14210. I am there severall times a week as it is right next to my house. I have got to know most of the workers there some are very pleasant. The others, not so much. There a few in particular, who give me and my children attitude and snobby looks everytime I am in there. The store is ALWAYS a mess, never stocked when the truck comes in, they are always out of items, because they are never working when I go in there, but rather outside smoking every 20 minutes in groups while one cashier named Sandy is always on register by herself. No one ever helps her cash customers out. They are too busy gossiping about eachother. Sam, one of the managers or key holders (not sure which title she has) never is helpful. I had to move a huge box out of my baby nieces way while Sam was standing right there, looks at me and walks away. Didnt ask me if I needed assistance, or helped me. Everytime I go in there, at least 5 aisles are filled so much with boxes unstocked items, garbage all over the place that I can never even push a cart through it. When I was in there tonight, Sam had nerve to say, "I dont know where these kids mothers were at that are making a mess in my store, I would of kicked my kids [censor]". She said it loud enough for me to hear it on purpose, and my kids didnt touch anything in that store as there were with me the whole time. and are well behaved children. That store is a mess everyday and she had no right to blame the mess in her store on customers kids. I felt horrible when I left that store because of the way I was treated with my children. This has been an ongoing problem and it needs to be fixed. Thank you. very much. Christina
